Am I right in thinking we’ve seen a bit of a different Coach Hackett over the past few days? His demeanour seems to have shifted to be more serious and businesslike, and a little less of the happy go lucky, golden retriever energy he usually exudes. Is this just a product of getting closer to the season? Did he realize (or did someone tell him) that he needs to shift gears on his energy a little bit? Is he a little more concerned about the performance of the team? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Also, as I proud Canadian I’ve gotta agree with RK on his maple syrup take. I’ve found the best thing to do is to get really cheap Canadian maple syrup, which basically just tastes like liquefied maple candy. The fancier stuff people tend to buy (and find at stores in the U.S.) has a really woody, almost smoky flavour to it that I don’t care for.

I cannot stand by idly and listen to this slander of our national treat. Maple syrup is delicious and downright nutritious compared to the chemicals y’all call syrup. OPEN YOUR EYES!! This year when I make the long pilgrimage from the frozen tundra up north to the great DNVR Bar 2.0 I’ll have to leave a litre or two behind.

I have a logistical question for you guys regarding my trip this year in Oct/Nov. I’m trying to have the most DNVR long weekend possible, do you guys throw tailgates for Avs/Nuggets/Buffs/Rams home games?

Perna recently had Derek Wolfe on his pod and I would encourage everyone to give it a listen!

It revealed some interesting things from the past few years that I think explain some of the fire we’re seeing come from the Defense. We’ve known that Vic was an old-school coach, but some of the things Derek said made me realize just how severely he limited this roster in terms of on-field player expression. I won’t spoil the specifics, but I think some of the guys (Simmons, Chubb specifically) are finally being allowed to be themselves and I LOVE IT. You guys have been talking about who brings the Dog to this team, and I hope what we’ll find out is that it’s always been there, the guys just weren’t “allowed” to show it.

Hey yall, OGMVP in the house today! It has been awhile since I commented but always listening. Blast from the pass I saw on NFL.com they were complementing Charles Cross in his blocking of…Derek Tuszka in the Run Game. He was always undersized while with us and though it was humorous that he was the focal point of the Rookie’s Highlight.

I thought Virgil was really the star of the first preseason game. He had a great high point catch and showed good speed. I did not thing Brandon Johnson was consistent, but did make a good play. Also Seth did a great job high pointing the ball on his catch, but I have never been overly excited with him. What do you think it would take for Virgil to make the last WR spot?

Also do you think that the Broncos Top 100 people are ranked well? J-Simmons 81? Russ 61? Anyone besides PSII deserving to make the list still? Anyone from this year you think will make it next year?
