Fellas, fellas, fellas! Finally caught on on pods after vacation to North Carolina last week! Kind of a long one, so feel free to skip around as desired.
So much Broncos and life news to catch up on, so little time.
As the resident expert on all things south, Mase, is it always that damn humid?! We had plans to stay at a house on Holden Beach, but in typical 2020 fashion a hurricane had other ideas for us. As a native of Colorado, needless to say I was not prepared for the storm. We made the best of the week and had a great time in Wilmington, a great town right on the coast.
Trying to keep it as light as possible today, I’ll chime in with Broncos questions later in the week. But shout out to Breckenridge, as the Oktoberfest is out in market with Autumn Ale following right behind it! And shout out to 10 Barrel Brewing, a sister brewery also owned by Anheuser Busch, that has killer beers and a brew pub just down the street from Coors Field. Definitely worth checking them out.

Hey guys! Long time listener, first time commenter. Over the past year y’all have kept me company while working on cars in my garage, and during the quarantine as I work from at home in the temporary office in my bedroom, so I finally bit the bullet and subscribed…. I love my Nolan Arenado shirt btw! As a native from Western Colorado, my work has brought me to North Carolina and I was really looking forward to attending a Broncos game against the Panthers and maybe even the Falcons this year. Sadly that might not happen, but if it’s safe, I would love to grab some bbq with Mase when (or if) he comes out to visit.

A few days ago you were discussing the Mount Rushmore of Denver Broncos running backs and since I’m an analyst by trade, I dug into some numbers of the all time greats and was surprised to see old #7 John Elway ranked 7th in Broncos career rushing yards with 3,407 and 5th overall in rushing touchdowns with 33. Phillip Lindsay isn’t far behind and only needs 1,369 yards to pass John. So my question is, how many games do you think it will take for Phil to pass John, and what can Lindsay’s ceiling be in this offense if he’s truly healthy?

Morning boys,

I just read an article about the top offenses to watch this season. Not only were the Broncos not mentioned but the raiders and Lions were in the list. At this point I’m questioning the NFL media powers at be. The Broncos are unproven but the Raiders and Lions are straight up booty.

I can’t wait for Lock and the boys to show em whats up. Around November everyone will act like they called the Broncos being a top five team…. gotta love the ever-evolving bandwagon.

Also read an article that head Denver listed as 3rd in the AFC West for receivers behind KC and the Raiders at 2…

The Raiders who did not have a Pro-bowl Wideout last season..

I must vent I’m ticked-off thursday –

When speaking of football, can we all please agree to use the phrase “snap count” and not “pitch count.” There’s no pitching in football is there? Am I wrong or am I just an asshole? Or both ?

Love

You’re actually right. Snap count is way better for football.

First off the count is as much apart of the podcast as the DNVR Contributors! Never stop my friend.

Second, adding to the KJ Hamler convo. Could we not see him used as a weapon like BA suggested in the number 4 recover role and / or in combination of the third and fourth receiver role ending up with the 3rd in production overall for wide outs?

Personally I’m wondering if there is simply to much focus on the number of plays in the slot or who comes onto the field after Judy and Sutton? but not enough thought to the match up and or packages each week will bring?

At the end of the year he will lead the team in explosive plays but may not be a Hollywood Brown. I can’t say that is a disappointment but rather a welcomed addition.

If he’s not #3 this year then in 2021 he’s your full time slot receiver.

Respectfully

Bobby

I just realized that a year has passed since I became a DNVR member. Thanks for all the great content, the community, and for being a source of sanity in a time we all badly need it. Can’t wait for the camp coverage, and looking forward to riding with you guys for another year.

TLDR: You got me…again!

I have an important announcement to make!

I’M GONNA BE A DAD!!!!!!! Yes, as long as I’ve lived, I’ve never been more joyful for anything. Thank you for opening up this platform for us to share things like this in the DNVR family.

Now, my goodness I’m sorry I forgot, but I had a challenge waiting for you guys since last week. The challenge is this. Make a team of Joes and Johns to compete for the Super Bowl, so as good as you can make it. Only active players. If you can, try to limit it to as many as you can of one name (example: Joe taking up 17 of 22 roster spots)

I’ll start. Joe Flac- lol! Just kidding. You’ll probably choose Joe Burrow, or something.

Thanks for the awesome pods, and Ryan, get on the pod more, my guy. We miss you.

Hey guys!

Mase, Simpson trivia for ya: when Bart was sent to military school, how many targets did he hit during mortar practice?

Today is to bring up the broncos biggest rival in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks. As they were once a division rival, the Seahawks and broncos have an incredible history. Overall, the broncos are 35-21 against Seattle, but are 0-2 in the playoffs. There have been several great games over the years. My nominee for the best game is the December 1999 overtime game at Mile High. The broncos got an early lead in the game, but struggled to maintain it throughout the game until the fourth quarter. A desperate Seahawks, on a 3 game losing streak, needed a win to keep pace with KC. Denver had added a TD just after the 2 minute warning. Down 10 inside of 2 minutes, Seattle got a quick strike TD, recovered the onside kick, and stalled before getting the game tying FG. But in OT, Ray Crockett strip sacked John Kitna from the right while Kitna was looking left, and Glenn Cardez was right there to scoop and score a walk off fumble six finish to destroy any hope of the Seahawks winning the division. It was then the 2nd time in NFL history that a game had ended, in OT, with a fumble return. This also gave Mike Holmgrenn his first 4 game losing streak as a head coach. In 49 games, was this the greatest, or does something top it?

And what about your Bucs, Mase?

Mah Boys!

I was not saying the Broncos were my pick to win it all i was talking about my basketball bet with RK. Even tho i just hit him with the double or nothing for the Jazz/Nuggies first round match-up i still believe the Nuggets are going to win the NBA title.

Top o’ the mornin dudes! Colin here. Been a few days since I commented but I’ve been listening, just busy as heck.

Not much to say today, mostly just a hello, and thanks for the awesome offseason content. Excited about Demar Dotson (and I also agree that he will be starting week 1) and so excited to have football in our lives again.

One more thing. Yoy guys remember the commenter who wrote the amazing poems after every game the season before last? I think his handle was something-something-Mullens… I miss him, if you’re listening, come baaaaack! Write us a riveting off-season poem!

Much love,
Colin

MY BOYS! Now, that we are on the verge of real training camp practices, I will comply with the request to keep my comment pithy and cut to the chase. Who are your recent players that were hyped up in training camp(s) on offense, (tomorrow, we’ll do the defense), that turned out to be over-promoted? Here are mine: At quarterback, we have Kyle Sloter backed up by Chad Kelly. At running back, we have Mario Fannin, Jr. backed up by Xavier Omon. At wide receiver, we have Gerrell Robinson and Cody Latimer. And at tight end, until proven otherwise, which would be great to see, because he is a stand up guy, Jake Butt. Enjoy your Thursday. DNVRMY SALUTE!
