Certainly the Lock Fumble in Cinci was a cause of concern for being he is known for turnovers and sacks it critical situations, but why are we not playing to Locks strengths? The play call would’ve made more sense if it was a Run, Pass, Option to his dominant arm side, but giving him the Run Option only giving him two chances seemed to bring to a weakness. I believe Lock has the potential to push this offense further and create options such as audibles and down the field throws. The last three games are divisional rivals, so do we actually know if it is a OC problem or a QB problem. Time to open the playbook.

I thought Mase would appreciate this after your discussion about stat guys on Monday. If you haven’t seen it before, freakonomics has a really interesting discussion of how statistically the most successful penalty kick in soccer is actually right up the middle, but it’s rarely attempted partially because you look foolish if it fails.
I’ve definitely noticed there’s a lot of “stick to what’s always been done even if there’s a better way” mentality in the NFL. It does make sense as a way to protect your job, but I’d argue to be truly great you need to take any advantage you can get and try things no ones done yet. Thoughts?

Fellas! Do we feel like the spread for the game against the Raiders is fair right now after what we saw from the Raiders against the Browns? Currently the spread is -1 Raiders. I feel pretty good about our chances this weekend. It’s the following week against the Chargers that concerns me…

My boys as I sit broken hearted I watch my team slowly stalling ever moving away from yet another playoff run touché so sad but at last their hope, hope that Drew does play good not only so we can enjoy these last few games but so he raises his stock.our team is like the Millon dollar man,we have everything we need to Compete except we are missing the man,the one,the only thing we need is a qb.if what our team has done with mediocre qb at play I can’t imagine why Russell or Aaron would it be enticed to come to us.so here’s for hope, let’s win just to win an get our qb next year peace love an chicken Grease I’m out

God Russ is so bad. No shot you guys truly believe he’s elite. Especially if we have to pay him 30 mil and trade any draft capital for him. As my boy zac would say “open your eyes!” He the definition of mediocre. And he’s mobility’s deteriorating rapidly too. This is a joke. And mase don’t feel bad for the dismissal of my take. Like rk said I know it’s a hot take and I know I’m alone on this island, but I truly believe this. It’s only a matter of time till you guys see it too.

I have been kind of thinking the same thing. Russ always has depended on running around and the off script plays and you can already see that going away. I think he is going to fall off pretty quickly.

Hello DNVR,
I decided it was the perfect time to finally subscribe after being a long time listener (yeah yeah Zac, “WE GOT EMMMM!”:) )
If you guys could go back anytime in the post Peyton Manning era, who is one player you would UN-draft, and who would you draft in their place?
Thanks guys, I hope you guys all get into the holiday spirit (RK and Zac). Merry Christmas!

Guys I’m behind a pod trying to catch up so not sure if you touched on this at all but for all of the things that have made us all feel that Shurmur is an incompetent OC, doesn’t calling a zone read with your only healthy QB take the cake? Rypien wasn’t dressed. What happens if that dude buried Lock instead of went for the ball? I really like Kendall Hinton and what he has done with his limited reps at WR but we should never see him taking snaps in a game again. Shurmur putting the team in that position is the definition of incompetence.
Cullin' for Mullens
Nick Mullens is back. I am back.
I’d like to share the story of my brief encounter with DT. Back in 2018, my family took a trip to the US, and we got tickets to Broncos vs Chiefs at Mile High. My mom had written to Broncos PR and told them that we were coming from Australia for the game. Initially, I was extremely embarrassed that she did this, but a week or so later, Seth Medvin responded and hooked us up with pre-game field passes! I was absolutely stoked (thanks Mom!)
Fast forwarding to the game, during player warm ups, DT came over to us and took the time to say hello.
I was shocked at the time that Demaryius went out of his way to do that, but after hearing all of the stories and memories of him these past weeks, I’m not surprised. That’s who DT was.
I still remember that moment fondly.
Beaut story! Thanks for sharing.
Christopher (in the UK)
PS When I get to visit Mile High I shall be sure to write to Broncos PR 🙂
It’ll also be a highlight to meet the DNVR family and Twitter folk in the bar!
Gentlemen, greetings from the UK.
What chance George and Vic can have the kind of conversation where George says, “Vic, we’re going to bring in a new head coach but we would love for you to stay with the Broncos as our defensive coordinator.”
Does Vic’s professional pride allow him to take a very public demotion but which would, in all likelihood, work out for the best for him and for the team?
If he ends up leaving the Broncos, a DC job is the most likely next outcome for him anyway, so why not continue his excellent work here?
Wishing you and your families and all of the wider DNVR family a happy and healthy Christmas.

Hey guys,
As much as I want Teddy to start every game remaining, I really think for his safety he should not. He hasn’t played well and just seemed off since the first concussion. I hope the team does right and only play him if absolutely necessary.
If Vic does stay and we land Wilson or Rodgers, who do you guys think will be the next Offensive Coordinator?
As it stands, Pat Shurmur seems to be the most likely chopping block candidate from the coaching staff. Do you guys have any preferences for his replacement? Any particular scheme?
Matt Nagy has been floated around and it would make sense as he’s worked with Vic and is a branch off the Andy Reid coaching tree like Shurmur so there could be some schematic continuity. Shanahan coordinators are also seemingly still in-vogue and I’d heard Ben Allbright mention Mike McDaniel as a potential OC candidate next year but I’m wary of any Shanahan assistant who hasn’t been in charge of playcalling. If Zimmer is on the outs in Minnesota maybe Klint Kubiak becomes available?
Which coordinator/scheme would you like us to have next year?

Back of the pod question: what’s going on with Michael Ojemudia? What is the pecking order of the back end of the CB depth chart right now?
OhMaHa
Hey guys,
At what point do we consider Jerry Jeudy a bust? I’m not willing to go there until he gets to play with a real QB, but at this point I’m starting to have real concerns about him.
On a positive note George Paton seems to draft better players in round 3 than Elway managed to draft in round 1, so hopefully I won’t have to ask these types of questions in the coming years.
Lastly, wishing a very Merry Christmas to everyone except the Raiders fans lurking in the YouTube comments; even if you crush us this weekend you’re all still irrelevant and have been for decades. 😉
