Hey guys. It has been too negative in here. Give our team some time to grow and build together.

Tomorrow I begin my pilgrimage that will end at mile high Sunday night for my first ever in person home game. I will come ready to erupt on every big play we make while not booing our guys and counting down the play clock if necessary. It is time for broncos country to ride.

Two quick questions. First is RKs seat locater app live yet. Since it is the first game there I may need help finding my seat from the sounds of things. Lol

Second what time is too late to plan to come to the tailgate. I know I can’t make the bus because my friend is flying in that morning and will not be on the ground in time. But I still would like to buy tailgate passes if we can make that work?

Looking forward to an epic weekend and huge bronco win. Cheers.

I know how much you guys love a good relationship metaphor so here you go!

Broncos fans find themselves in a new relationship. It was an exciting summer love affair with so many possibilities. We thought we were ready for something new. We wanted to move on. But as summer turns to fall we our past haunts us.

We knew those past relationships weren’t going to work out. Deep down we knew but we didn’t want to be alone. I mean are we going to go root for the Browns? So we compromised and we talked ourselves into it. Maybe Bridgewater is the answer. Maybe this time it will be different.

It isn’t that our new relationship is bad. It’s still so new and so full of potential. But we worry about repeating the same mistakes. Is this for real or just another bad relationship ready to end in tears? Are we falling for another loser or do we just need to work through a rough patch?

Hackett isn’t Fangio or Joseph or even Kubiak. Wilson isn’t Manning but he is definitely not Lock, Bridgewater, Osweiler, Flacco, Keenum or Lynch.

We can’t let those who hurt us before leave us jaded and cynical. Let’s be hopeful! Let’s dream of what this relationship can be! Let’s work through these tough times because, this team might just be the one.

Hey Gentlemen! It’s been a while since I last asked a question or commented, but I’ve been listening to the pod. The Sobey Boys (myself, younger brother, and father) will be making pilgrimages from Oregon and New Mexico to the bar and our first ever Broncos home game in October against the Jets! We strategically got a place to stay within walking distance of the bar and we’ll be doing the full party bus and tailgate experience. I’m ridiculously excited.

Here’s my question for the pod:
The Broncos HOF nominees were announced the other day, which made me reflect on the fact that we have no Broncos Ring of Fame inductees this year. Why in the *redacted* is Gary Kubiak not in the Ring of Fame, and when will we put him in? 9 years as Elway’s backup, 11 years as a QB coach/O.C., 2 years as a head coach. IIRC, he and Elway are the only Broncos to have had a direct hand in all three of our Super Bowl victories. When can we expect him to be placed in his rightful spot in the Broncos Ring of Fame, or am I delusional and overvaluing his importance to the franchise?

My boys,

Are you really surprised by the personal attacks on Coach Hackett?
After all, we are talking about social media, the platform for cowards hiding behind fake names that get ignored by officials! Twitter is a swamp, the others no better!
And on that note, bring on the aussie rules grand final this weekend, go Swans!

Hey guys, feel like I need to clarify my critism of Hackett. First off, I do think all these issues can be fixed and I was encouraged by what I saw in Hackett’s Monday press conference.

Here’s my thing, if it was just one thing he is getting a pass due to inexperience, but it is:
1) Terrible play calls near the goal line resulting in a last place ranking in the redzone. 0-18 passing, too much shotgun, and not a single outside run so far with Beck in???
2) Leading the league by far in penalties.
3) Awful game clock/timeout management.
4) He’s even got me smh with personel decisions. Why is Javonte not on the field for critical short 3rd downs? Like 3rd and 2. He did not have a single run for no gain or negative yardage against the Texans until the final run of the game, despite several times being hit in the backfield.

That’s just way too much, and the signs are glarring that he is in way over his head. He needs to show drastic improvement this week or it could be a really long season! I mean the Texans could have easily won that game and playing the way we have the first 2 weeks what other teams could we have won against? Not many!

P.S. RK was funny hearing you reference my comment about KOC and Kirk Cousins yesterday. I was actually watching MNF while catching up with Monday’s Pod thinking: irony abounds!

My boys! Been a long time since my last comment, but I’ve been listening everyday. Life has gotten wild – My wife and I just moved into our first house and found out that we have a baby girl coming in March.

The coverage has been great as always. I was wondering if you guys were ever planning on going back to a noon show time during the week? Since I’m out East in Ohio, the noon shows (2pm EST) allowed me to listen at work and always made my workdays better.

Also, there is way too much negative energy coming from Broncos Country. We knew that this was a new coaching staff, a new offense, and a new QB. We knew that there would be growing pains while this unit gelled. We knew that this all would take time.

We’ll be fine. Everyone breathe.

Love ya’ll. Go Broncos.

Everybody seriously needs to calm down with these overreactions. I’ve seen a lot of people already saying Wilson is washed, go look at Mannings stats his first two games here and compare them to Wilson. Neither are great by any means it just shows that he has time. It’s gonna get better. Penalties and redzone offense will pick up. Go broncos!

Feel like we need some positivity here. It’s OK to have concerns, but if that’s all you see, you’re missing the fun of this NEW journey we’re on. This isn’t the same old team, owner, general manager, coach, QB, etc. To win while putting all of these new pieces in place IS our journey this year. Celebrate the win, learn, get better, do it again. Don’t forget about the GM we have who clearly has an eye for talent. He hired Hackett too.

Side note, I came in from Charlotte for the tailgate/game. It was great to meet Pig Tosser, RK, Henry, Allie (MVP), RG, Perna, BK, and Andre. I missed Zac, but hopefully next time. Love what you all are doing. Go Broncos.

I said it before, I’ll say it again. Writing this team/coach off after 2 weeks is foolish and short sighted. Why does it feel like we’re talking about a loss this week? The Broncos won and have an excellent opportunity to get better on National TV. I can’t wait!
Also, why did we sign Billy Turner only to have him not practice/play? Do we have any idea when he might come back? I’d get Bobby Massie on the phone unless he’s just straight up not playing this year.

Fellas,

These first two weeks, the “A” stands for “asinine”, to quote a slightly less famous Hank. I’m referring to the vitriolic fan reaction to many aspects of the Broncos so far.

Russ is NOT WASHED WHATSOEVER. Top 7 in passing yards in what has been a pretty ridiculous passing season so far, and he’s under 60% completion. Something will change there, and I would argue its going to be the completion percentage coming up.

As for coach Hackett, can we look at the big picture for a moment? This is a coach whose brand, and entire staff, is putting an emphasis on sharpening the mental aspects of the game, learning, and improving. If that is a coaches commitment, would you rather they have to put in a lot of effort:
A. Figuring out how to design a dynamic, modern offense that keeps the opponent off balance, and has at least the opportunity to score 30+ points in a game?
B: Streamlining communication to get calls in just a little quicker.

I hope that is rhetorical, but lets recall that our most recent OCs (controversially, going back to Coach Kubiak himself) did not show a willingness to adapt or update the offense to create explosiveness. I’m fairly confident Coach Hackett can learn to read a clock…

The overall positivity in the comments is heartening. Allow me to add a trademark dollop of optimism. My official prediction; we end this season on a minimum of a 7 game winning streak. And yes I know the schedule. But this team is NOT what we’ve seen the last half decade of the “do the same thing, expect different results” bent.

Cheers,
Arvada Luke

Hey gang,
Is anyone from DNVR going to go to the Carolina game on November 27? We (Va Beach Broncos consists of a dad (Billy), an 18yo (Nathan) and a 14yo (aspiring sports writer David) will be attending, and would love to join you (or any other DNVR listeners) before or after the game!

If you aren’t going to make it to Charlotte (which is a beautiful city, by the way), David would be happy to report from the game for you, at no cost (it would be his first unpaid internship).

All we would need is 3 press box passes. Actually, only 2 — Nathan can fend for himself.

Thanks for providing an expanded fan family (fanily?) to share the highs and lows with!

I was pretty surprised to see how bad the game operations have been considering how relatively clean things were in the preseason. I know preseason games are called a little differently as far as situational football just because you want to test things out and see certain looks, but the overall communication wasn’t anywhere near this sloppy.

What gives? Is it just the added pressure of REAL football? Are they doing something different operationally? Just super strange.

Also curious to see what you think the vibe in the locker room is with regards to coach Hackett, particularly the vets.
