Hey guy’s,
I would just like to announce one thing today, That is I truly believe, and would put money down on it that if John went to Kyle Shannahan and said lets do a 1 for 1 trade drew and Jimmy G. The 49ers would take that deal in a heartbeat. Now what do you think that says about the coaching for this team. They were made to coach in the early 2000’s not the 2020s. This is a new era of football we are seeing and let’s just face it this coaching we have is just outdated.

It feels as though Lock is being coached by someone who learned football 30 some odd years ago. The play calls are old timey. The game plans are static and predictable. If Lock had Cliff or Sean Kyle as his commander in Cheif, with the same weapons we currently have, how much better would his stats be/our team record be?

Your best guesses please

Fellas,

On Monday’s pod mase said he would take Sam Howell over everyone not named Trevor Lawrence in this draft. So based on that, wouldn’t the Broncos best option be to keep Lock and Shurmur for 2021 and see if he can figure it out the way that Mayfield and Allen did? If he does then you know you have the guy, if he doesn’t then you can go sell the farm to get Howell.

How say you?

Hey guys, haven’t commented in a while….not much to say about another disappointing Broncos year but UGH. I thought I would share this 12 days of Christmas Broncos style that my then 9 year old and I wrote. Depressing that this was 2 years ago and pretty much still applies today. Take care gents and happy holidays to you all!
On the 12th day of Christmas the Broncos gave to me….
12 rookies starting
11 missed tackles
10 cursing fans
9 Coors Lights
8 Turnovers
7 Dads on walks (my wife makes me go on a walk when the game makes me too upset!)
6 Missed extra points
5 Bad Losses
4 Annoyed girls (my wife and 3 daughters)
3 Blown Calls
2 Migraine Headache
AND WAY TOO MANY INJURIES!!!

What current playoff team (not including the NFC East) should be the model for how the Broncos should move forward and where are they in such a process?

December 22, 2020

Quick update on the police academy life: I got tazed today and it’s absolutely miserable. 10/10 DO NOT recommend and we’ve got a PT test tomorrow. Merry Christmas! ? Now, on the Lock-Jeudy connection. I don’t know how much or if you guys played QB or WR, but I’ve been on both sides of the coin. Now, obviously not near to the degree they’re at, but I have a bit of experience with it, and I’ll say this from the QB perspective, if I’ve got a WR whose catch rate is <50%, it's very, VERY hard to continue to trust him and throw him the ball. I'm not saying it's right (because I think one they get on the same page, Jeudy will be unstoppable) but I absolutely understand it from Lock's perspective if he's hesitant to go to him after the drops. That's all today boys, have a good one!

Let me just start this comment noting I was 100% on board with drafting Lock, not only in round 2 but round 1 as well.

Let me also say, I thought this year Alabama would take a step back with Mac Jones at the helm.

Having watched Lock with a full seasons worth of starts and most Alabama games this year, I’m not hesitating to pick Jones if he’s on the board when we pick. I get that he’s surrounded by talent, but the way he’s able to stay calm and move around the pocket and drop an absolute dime and make all the throws speaks for itself. He’s smart and makes it look so effortless. He’s got the build Elway loves. I think he’s a steal to whoever picks him as he’s flying under the radar being the Bama QB.

I’m not sailing Lock’s ship so to speak, but if Jones is there.. I’m taking that all day. I know you discussed him today, I’m just shocked there’s not more hype for him to the Broncos if we do actually consider QB.

Let’s dispel with the notion that it’s hard to find a QB in the NFL, particularly in the draft. Let’s break down the QBs taken in the first couple rounds for the last few years’ drafts. For the TLDR, skip past this breakdown of each guy to the results

2017:
Trubisky: Meh, better than Drew though especially looking at these last few games
Mahomes: Superstar
Watson: Superstar
Kizer: Miss

2018:
Baker: Success
Darnold: Meh, better than Drew probably considering what he’s been given to play with, the fact that we seriously entertain him coming to Denver means he’s not 100% a miss.
Josh Allen: Success – maybe Superstar
Rosen: Miss
Lamar: Superstar (MVP winner)

2019:
Murray: Success – maybe Superstar
Jones: Miss
Haskins: Miss

2020:
Lock:
Burrow: Success
Herbert: Success
Tua: Looks like a success, better than Drew so far
Jordan Love: Can’t say
Hurts: Can’t say – but has looked good in limited play so far

TLDR: We have 9 successes (including Tua who’s probable) with multiple immediate superstars in there. 4 Misses. 2 that are in between but better than Drew. 2 that we can’t say yet. So, not factoring in those QBs for who we can’t say and being harsh and counting those that are in between as “bad”, we’re still looking at a 56% success rate (9 out of 16 total). But if you look only at the 1st round (take out Drew and Kizer, Hurts already isn’t being counted) you’re looking at a 64% success rate (9 out of 14).

Some will disagree with where a guy or two is placed, but it still paints a rosy picture. You have a better chance of hitting than not if you take a QB first round. I’m sure it feels like I’ve been coming for you guys a lot these past couple weeks, but can we stop saying it’s hard to find a QB? It may not be easy, but it definitely isn’t hard. You could throw darts at the 1st round QBs in a draft without evaluating talent and you still have a good chance mathematically to get one.

If 3 good QBs are being added each draft and we already have guys like Stafford, Brady, and Brees in the league, it’s no wonder the majority of teams have a guy they’re happy with and it’s just some of the bad teams that are unhappy (Jets, Jaguars, Giants, Bears). Not to mention we’re about to have 5+ decent QB prospects. As long as the 2021 QB draft class isn’t 100% a bust, it’s going to look really easy to find a competent QB in this league.

Hey guys,

I am so tired of the Bradley Chubb vs Josh Allen debate. If we look back on that 2018 draft, we remember Josh Allen had virtually no hype around him and that he was a project QB, and Chubb was widely considered to be the best defensive player in the draft, and was drawing comparisons to Khalil Mack.
Now when people talk about that draft, they always say that the Broncos had a chance and everyone passed. What no one remembers is that in mock drafts Allen was projected around the 20-30th picks.
Bottom line- no one saw this happening to Josh Allen, including the Broncos. Let’s all just move on instead of complaining about the past.

I really miss Sutton. None our receivers are physical enough. Lock can’t even throw up 50/50 balls because our receivers will always lose. Keep Sutton at all cost. When healthy he is a top 15 receiver. He is one of the very few receivers who make their quarterback look better than they actually are. Another thing get Juedy involved in the short passing game. He always is running these long route that takes time to develop forcing lock not to throw his way. I remember his third catch of his career when he ran a slant got the ball put the whole defense on skates and got an extra 15. Since then we haven’t seen him do anything like that.

(Formerly known as KC Spy)
I vividly remember the night of the 2nd round draft last year. I was looking at my phone outside a barcade in Kansas City jumping for joy. I had just learned that Drew Lock was going to be a Bronco.
Before the 2019 draft began, I told myself “Whatever team Drew Lock goes to (except the Raiders or Chargers), will be my backup team to root for. I just wanna watch that guy succeed.” Something about his moxie and charisma really Drew me to him (pun intended). So imagine my excitement when I learned that he was the heir apparent to crusty old Flacco.
The last 16 games have been a roller coaster, and I’ve wanted to give up on Drew so many times. Upon my most recent reflection however, I think that consistency at the QB position is exactly what this milquetoast team needs. Nothing upsets me more on a broadcast than those infuriating graphics of the “QB carousel” Denver has been on for the last 5 years. Regardless of the outcome of the next two games, we won’t be in a position to draft a QB who has Lock’s potential. I’m all for the Minshew hedge, but I don’t want a new starting QB, especially a free agent.
I don’t want Stafford. I don’t want Fitzmagic (as a starter). I don’t want Mariota, or Cousins, or Trubisky.
I want consistency. I don’t want to add another random guy to this horrific carousel of mediocrity. Bring back Lock and Shurmur, and hedge on Minshew if you want. Give Drew a chance to make the 3rd year leap like we’ve seen so many young QBs do. If it crashes and burns and we have to start over, so be it. However; with an offseason, time for the young offence to gel, and getting big names back from injury, I think we could see the Drew Lock that we saw during his junior year at Mizzou. Now that would be exciting, and I so desperately want to be excited like I was last year on the 2nd round draft night.
Cheers all!

After watching the all 22….. 🙁

On the most crucial play of the game, the sack fumble returned for a touchdown. T. White blitzes from the left side, Bolles has him lined up to kick him to Greeley. Lindsay comes over in Blitz protection, hit’s Bolles, takes him out of the play and then is late to try to pick him up. Love Lindsay, but he created that situation. Combine that with him not showing patience when running and cutting back, is it possible that this is the wrong offense for Phil?

Drew Lock is Drew Late. On virtually every throw outside the numbers, he waits till the WR makes the break, then throws, allowing the DB to gain ground.

Had Juedy wide open on the same route as Hamler last week and didn’t even see it, late in 2nd quarter.

Guys, I understand that continuity hasn’t existed in a long time in Denver. I just fear that if we keep things as they are, we’re back in the 6-8 win max again next year. That’s not the type of continuity that I want. Better to go 1-15, get the BEST QB than just keep winning 6 or 7 each year and never getting one.

Ok guys very serious question that I think warrants some serious discussion. You each must choose one that you have to stick with for the rest of your life. A) a Ryan Fitzpatrick beard. B) Gardner Minshew mustache. C) Joe Flacco half beard/neck beard. D) Trevor lawerence clean shaven with Goldilocks hair. Which one are you guys rolling with?

Thanks for the coverage and pods guys as always!

Good morning gentlemen!

I’m wondering if all the injuries this year may have anything to do with Luke Richardson leaving to go to the Texans. This is definitely an different type of question but it seemed during his ten year here the Broncos had some injures but nothing of this magnitude? Just a question I’ve been pondering and wondering if that was a much greater loss than we thought at the time.

Merry everything,

Bobby

Grandma once said, “hufngrha” which, loosely translates as ‘I am in great pain and require the pill that is hard to take.’ Not everyone could understand Grandma, but those who did saw the suffering of a once-great person now helpless due to their pain.

Dear Broncos, take the stupid pill. Get yourselves a smart person to run this thing. You might not be saying the words exactly, but deep down, everyone knows that this team needs an owner. I’m not willing to wait until 2025 to have a new owner in that building.
With love,
A grandson of the greatest Grandma ever

Top o’ the morning lads!

Haven’t commented in a couple weeks but enjoying the daily content regardless!

Couple quick thoughts: For one, isn’t it annoying how many Chiefs are on the Pro Bowl roster? I get it, we all get it, theyre an amazing elite team with great players. But for heck’s sake. Almost every position group for the AFC team has a chief in it. Give some other teams some representation, make it fair.

For two: Regarding the Broncos, something has REALLY been bugging me that hasn’t been talked about a lot on the defensive side. DROPPED PICKS. Have you guys noticed that EVERY game this year (I dont think I’m exaggerating) we have had at least 1 clear-as-day INT dropped? What is up with this? I know these dudes aren’t receivers, but you’d think after how peeved they look every time it happens, it’d be something they focus on a bit more. Many potential game changing turnovers, and we just drop em. Frustrating!

Have a fabulous Tuesday bros, oh and by the way, these DNVR shirts are so comfy!

I wanted to get your guys’ take on a couple things. I have been feeling torn about Elway as much as I am about Lock. His drafting has been better as of late but the two things he is getting hammered for are his coaching and QB decisions. I think for coaching picks he has done pretty well and the QB picks all stem from one mistake.
For coaches, the Fox hire was the perfect hire and just what this team needed at the time. It gets an A
Letting Fox go and persuading Kubiak to come here gets an A+. Remember Kubiak was very content as the Ravens OC and wasn’t looking to be a head coach. This was a great hire that only Elway could make and won us a Super Bowl.
VJ is obviously an F but he was a hot name and Elway had his sights on him for a while. Bad hire.
Vic’s success is the key to what his final score on coaching hires will be. But to me it can’t be any worse than a C. And just remember, Elway had his dream plan at coach here in Kubiak and in his eyes Kubiak would still be the coach today if he didn’t leave. That’s not on Elway.
For Qb’s, the handling of Brock’s contract extension is why we are sitting here today where we are. I understand the situation was delicate with Manning still here but I am putting the majority of this on Brock having hurt feelings about getting benched…period. That put us in MUST draft QB mode in one of the worst QB classes in recent memory (Goff is average and look at Wentz right now) He had to take the shot on Lynch there. Yeah Dak was the right guy in hindsight but he made it to the 4th round so let’s not fault Elway totally. The picks between Lynch and Dak were Hackenberg round 2, Brisset and Kessler round 3, and Connor Cook round 4. Cmon man that class was garbage. Taking Lynch has set us back to this day because not only did we waste three years of missing out on elite guys in the draft waiting for Lynch, but now Elway is scared to death of missing on another 1st round QB. Every move since then proves it. I would like to see him really go after a guy in round 1 in the top 10 that he likes. That is the one thing he hasn’t done. Go up and get YOUR guy. Remember, Elway LOVED Herbert and it was not a secret. That would’ve been a hit and Elway looks good right now for his thoughts on him. Go get a true top end prospect, Elway.
Sorry for long comment but I had to explain why in the end I’m not yelling for Elway to be fired, even when looking at the areas where he is criticized the most.

John Elway is so stuck in his ways he would never draft a black QB, they way he shrugged off Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray as legit options shows me where is head at. As he said it himself.. “They’ll be a good QB for someone else’s team” with that said Justin Fields will not be an option for this team even if he was available.

Big Tony

Big Tony

December 22, 2020

My boys! My question is…what was the reasoning behind Joe Ellis decision to not allow Elway to bring back Mike Shanahan in 2018?

I can’t help but to think about what could have been if we had brought him back and drafted Josh Allen in 2018. I believe that under the guidance of Shanny that Allen would have been developed correctly and would have reached the same elite level that we are seeing him at right now.

Obviously this would mean that there would be no Bradley Chubb but in this alternate reality you would assume that Shaq Barrett would have been kept around.

Just imagining how explosive an offense consisting of Allen, Lindsay, Sutton, Jeudy, Hamler, Fant in Shanny’s system would have looked like makes me cry on the inside…talk about an absolute juggernaut that would could have been…oh well woulda, coulda, shoulda…
