is sutton still eligible for an extension this offseason? i think there was something about 3 accrued seasons but i’m not sure if that changed in the latest cba, or if this season counts because he was on the week 1 roster. i’m fully confident that he’ll rebound from the injury so it might be an opportunity to ‘buy low’ if that is the case. maybe instead of giving him $20m/year, you get him locked up for $14m/year.

also, the 49ers have raised concerns about the field conditions at metlife stadium, and the nflpa is backing them on this. the 49ers are playing at metlife again this weekend, so if there’s another load of injuries then would y’all consider resting some players for the jets game? ya know…the ‘lifeboat’ guys.

Reading through Twitter these last few days has been depressing. Refreshing every few seconds hoping for good news only to be shafted with more daggers. What a mess. However, I feel like the heart the guys showed last week could carry over and an us vs them mentality could form fast with a decent showing vs Brady’s Bucs. This is where their youth could help fight back the doom and gloom. They simply may not know better.

More research has been done. The first usage of the DNVR intro was first used leading up to the jaguars game. So what this means is that it avoided the first 3 losses. Finishing its overall record at 7-6. Now one would mention that the BSN version was in use since mid 2018. But who cares? When you look at the stats it made me kinda gloomy. Only because when you look at the games this season is looking to be another 7-9 season. Which I guess it just means it’s gonna be another developmental season like the second half of 2019. Which hopefully it means we will explode in 2021!

Anyhoot – I read a comment in Facebook yesterday about someone putting the blame for Courtland Sutton’s knee injury on the medical staff, because they cleared him to play.

Can I see a causal link between him tipping the high ball, having it intercepted and then doing his knee? Sure! Is it reasonable to blame that on ANYONE….. no…

Quick note to RK about Rugby injuries…

When you don’t have a helmet and pads, you have much higher regard for your own life, and the person you are tackling. You’re taught at an early age, how to tackle properly in Rugby, wrapping up cleanly and putting your head in a position that keeps it safe. Also, in Rugby, a “no arms tackle” is a penalty, often resulting in a red card, but nearly always in a yellow card these days. You cannot just smash into someone like you can in the NFL, you have to wrap your arms around, it means less injuries.

Note: Yellow Card in Rugby is 10 minutes in the ‘Sin Bin’, meaning your team has to play 10 minutes with a man down. Red Card is being sent off (disqualification) and you have to play with only 14 men for the rest of the game. Red Cards are baaaad.

Honestly though, I prefer the violence of American Football. That hit from Kareem Jackson on Nuk last year? I drool when thinking about it, very few tackles in Rugby have that level of “WOW”.

Would removing helmets and pads in the NFL mean less injuries? I am 100% sure it would, but I am 100% sure it is a bad move. Besides, Helmets and Pads look cool. Speedball anyone?

What is the purpose of having Brett Rypien on the roster? I heard you say NFL coaches won’t play an I drafted, third string quarterback with no experience. If that’s the case, why have them at all?

Also, which is a more unreasonable ask from a team: to win every game or to play a good game every time?

I’m sorry to say it, but you guys are wrong about Jeff Driskel. Dude was throwing “diiimes” against the most hostile defense in the league. What a nearly impossible situation to be thrust into—“Hey Jeffy, go out there and beat the Steelers without having had a single rep in practice the past two weeks…”

Jeff’s biggest issue was in blitz recognition. If he can improve there and throw the ball decisively, the Denver Broncos are not doomed. They are reborn. Hop on the Drizzle Bus with me!
