First longer comment ever sorry.Wow just wow. Drew lock not practicing is INEXPLICABLE. Elway has to go this is my last straw with the guy i will be praying for the Broncos to be blown out in every game the rest of the year just so this idiot gets fired (wishful thinking) or gets it through his thick skull that the team wont build itself this time. Love my team hate to see it in the hands of a nincompoop like him. Also just a comment on ownership that the trust may have picked the youngest child for a reason that being it would take longer for them to be out of power. Just a thought. What teams are you watching for some quality football

Maaaaaaase, I love your knowledge, coverage and opinions. But man! Retroactive draft shaming as GM criticism only works for critiquing the first round. It makes sense to criticize Elway for making Bolles the first LT off the board when he could’ve had Ryan Ramcykrguiheogih (pretty sure I nailed that spelling btw). But to slam Elway for not taking guys like Wilson or McLaurin? C’mon… 32 teams passed on Wilson at least twice. 32 teams passed on McLaurin at least twice. It’s fun to play what-if, and that’s fine, but you can’t slam a GM for making the mistake every GM made! Russell Wilson should have been the #2 overall pick behind Andrew Luck (or #1, knowing what we know now). But 32 GMs underestimated him, not just Elway.
On an unrelated note, I would LOVE to see the Broncos trade Chris Harris Jr. He wants to go make money somewhere, and that just might be on a non-contender. We owe it to Chris to let him go chase another Lombardi on a contending team.
Ahhthebroncos
Elway tried to get us to believe we were going to be okay with Mark Sanchez when Brock skipped town. Need I say more?
Andrew Mason
I only harp on those two (Wilson & McLaurin) because these were players I liked a great deal throughout the draft process of those years. And re: Wilson, as I have said way too often, height is the single most overrated factor in evaluating a QB. If you’re eliminating a QB prospect based only on not being the ideal height, you’re doing it wrong.
World of Suck
Ahhhh didn’t realize they were guys you were harping on pre-draft. Fair enough!
Agreed on the height factor. The Herbert nightmare is coming.
OnionTownLynx
A few pods ago, you guys talked about how JANO is like a cat, but stronger. You know what that is? It’s a lynx, guys. It’s a lynx. Okay, here we go…
1. Deal the next 2 years away because John isn’t going to allow Drew Lock to play next year, either. He said he wanted to Favre-Rodgers this thing and that’s what he’s going to do. What’s the best thing they can do with this reality?
2. Broncos lose to the Colts 30-10
3. For Pat
4. Sometimes i wish i could be GM for a day so i could tear into these crimes committed against Denver. How about you guys?
5. In my depressed state after reaching the high of hope pre-Chiefs I find myself with a new theory. Nobody is untradeable. You can move on from everybody on this team because we lose out the rest of the season and John Elway’s incompetance is exposed. I’m hoping for 2-14 for now. Because if every piece and every scheme of 7’s is completely ruined and amounts to nothing, he may be embarrassed enough to walk away or might be able to get fired. Something tells me a catastrophic low would be the only way to get a fresh mindset in the building and a new era started. No more John, Vic, Joe, or any of them. Complete top-to-bottom turnover. This is the way.
Goodbye for a while, my friends. I’ll be listening from the shadows.
The Matrix
Although I agree with what everything you guys are saying on how stupid it is to not let lock practice. Why arent these tough questions asked during media time? Specifically in the handling of a young qb , across the league the mentality is find what you have. What recent success do the Broncos have with a young qbs that show their methods work? Are you guys prevented from asking these types of questions?
D-Dubs
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. Patrick Smyth and the entire PR team at Dove Valley are some of the best in the business, and that means they’ve probably got a stranglehold on what comes in and out of the facility- see Emmanuel Sanders.
Ahhthebroncos
Elway is not in touch with reality. If you replace his name with “the Broncos General Manager” you immediately find yourself saying “what is this guy doing to our team?” We appreciate and admire him for all he did as a player and for what he tried to do as a GM but listening to his press conferences and his Elway Access bit, he does not see the reality of where the teams is and surely has the wrong plan for the near future. My fear is that he is surrounded by yes men and no one has the guts to tell him when he is making a bad decision. Is there anyone that can get him to see what 98% of the fan base and the rest of the NFL see? God knows countless loses won’t do it. We won’t have a winning season until he is willing to change or he is changed. Oh and by the way, he has every intention of starting Flaco next year. What the Flaco?
BroncoBornBroncoBred
Since we have pretty much the same amount of sample size for all of these QBs who out of these are you taking over drew lock for next season right now knowing what we do? Herbert, Fromm, Burrow, the and Hurts (my favorite)
There is so much talent on the offensive side in this next draft we absolutely need to know where we can trust people on offense and who we need to replace.
Great content as always, cheers boys
OklahomaBronco58
You guys have me convinced. John Elway needs to go. He’s running this team into the ground with his short sighted approach and inability to make the right choice when it comes to making decisions regarding QBs. Drew Lock HAS TO HAS TO HAS TO play this year!!! How do they honestly expect him to develop at any reasonable level if he’s not out there getting reps?? It hurts seeing him ruin this team and not recognize that we need a youth movement worse than any team in the league.
I do disagree with Mase on the QB class this year though. Outside of Tua there is not a guy I would feel confident drafting in the first round.
Justin Herbert? Barely scores 20 against PAC12 DEFENSES!!
Jake Fromm? More like Jake Flacco. He’s a game manager and is only decent because of the talent around him.
Jacob Eason? Ehhhhh maybe at the right price.
Jordan Love? He’s been awful for the whole season.
Jalen Hurts? Okay I secretly love him because I go to OU but that’s like a third round flyer. (Also with whatever power you guys have to influence John Elway, PLEASE GET CEEDEE TO DENVER!!!!)
Anyways this class doesn’t even sniff 2017s class. While Baker and Sam Darnold have struggled, they have bright futures with their respective teams and Josh Allen looks better this year. Lamar Jackson is obviously a phenom. I just don’t see us taking a QB when honestly Tua is the only one that I see is better than Drew in this years class and we’re not gonna be in a position to get him.
My rant is over for now until more disheartening news comes out about this team and Drew.
PastorRhett
Over the next 5ish months Jalen Hurts will go from day two prospect to a top 10 pick.
Already in my top 3.
BroncoBornBroncoBred
Is Flacco starting the rest of the season a blessing in disguise? With Joe as Qb there is no way we go better than 6-10. This might finally be John’s kick in the butt that makes him realize he needs to change his ways.
D-Dubs
Evening gentlemen!
Even though it sucks, I’m really glad that you guys all share a brain on losing *for now* to make this team realize that Flacco and this formula don’t work.
It’s a massive slap in the face to one of the best and most proud fan bases in sports. Decades of sell outs through both awful and great times in a small market (in comparison to others), some of the most intelligent fans in football, and a fan base that considers a major part of its identity as cheering on this team. And that extends far past the city of Denver, or even the state of Colorado (as we’ve learned from how many tune into just this pod).
We as fans deserve better. And I would be remiss without noting that Pat Bowlen fully recognized that the team belongs to its fans. I think that‘s what is most missing from this organization, and sadly I don’t see it getting better until an owner steps in and goes back to realizing this and gives this sinking ship some direction on where land is.
Sorry for the longish rant, this seasons just ripping me to shreds. Go try Breck’s Christmas ale, it’s a banger and all that’s gotten me through these last couple of days
Jeff Menné
Hey Guys – Think any team would take a draft pick/Flacco combo for salary dump purposes RE Brock Osweiler to the Browns??
Really hope things align for Drew after the Indy game. Not putting him on the practice field is blowing my mind!!
Great work keeping the DNVR family afloat while the season takes on more and more water. Thanks guys!

A few years ago, a friend and I had a conversation about whether a true fan can ever root for his team to lose. We concluded that if it’s in the best interests of your team to lose, then it makes sense to root against them, as you should always want wants best for your team. With that in mind, for the time being I will be rooting for the following things when I watch the Broncos: (1) Fangio’s defense to look awesome; (2) Scangarello to look like an imaginative, creative play caller who adjusts to what the defense is doing and who puts his players in the best position to succeed; (3) Flacco to look like an old, bad, washed up QB who doesn’t care anymore; and (4) the Broncos to lose the game. I truly believe these things happening would be what’s best for the team.
TomMercury
What is your favorite Halloween movie? Can you compare that movie with this Broncos season?
TomMercury
Also, I have a theory that Elway promised Joe that he would get a full season so that Joe wouldn’t be embarrassed again the same way he was in Baltimore (being replaced by a rookie).

Can it be the nightmare before christmas with drew lock being our christmas gift in Octobter?

Guys, when discussing the 2020 crop of qbs I was thinking about Jalen Hurts. As a Bama fan I watched him succeed and struggle in his time at Alabama. This time last year I would have said there is no way he is a NFL qb. But, Lamar Jackson has made me rethink this position. Of course it will take a coaching staff that is willing to adjust to the talent they have. At this point I have not seen this out of Denver, so I suspect that who ever is the qb will struggle with this dial up offense, in a fiber optic cable world.
Aquaman
Brock sat, Lynch sat. How’d that work out? Start Lock, it cant have a worse outcome.
How confident are you that we have coaching staff that can rebuild the team? Is Vic and company too old school for the modern game? I want to see another year of Vic and Rich (Tom can be let go tomorrow) but my confidence in them is lower than when the season started.
Orange and Blue all over
I have a theory: Broncos want lock to start vs chargers in week 13 and are waiting till exactly 3 weeks beforehand so that there arent chants or temptation to start him in the two road games before that.
Would extra practice be wiser? Sure. Is this theory likely? No. Does it help me sleep at night thinking there is a plan and lock will play – you bet!
Lock and load, broncos country! Lets go lose to the other horse team for the good of the franchise!
Count Bridgeula
Is Heuerman still on this team? I feel like he gets about a catch a game?
What’s the deal with him?
Check down joe doesn’t like tight ends anymore ? Help me gents, I’m confused!

Ryan mentioned that you can actually trade for GMs in the NFL, which got me wondering about a GMs worth.
If you could have your pick of any GM in the league… what would you be willing to give up? First rounder? All four third rounders? Would you trade Von straight up?
Iceman
Hey boys. We have all stated it, no Drew Lock in 2019 = A total failed season, no matter what the W/L record is! I like Joe Cool butt let’s keep it real, he is a dead man walking to the sidelines. I won’t predict the Indy score butt I can’t pick the Broncs to win another game. 🙁 GO ZOOMIES
The Matrix
Also did anyone wanna bash their face into a wall after skangs kept bringing up how Drew’s biggest weakness is not having taken snaps in the NFL. Well you know how ya fix that ya donkey. Play the kid. I’m with r.k on this one , in losing hope in this franchise. We are heading towards Redskins territory if something isnt sorted out at the highest of levels for this organization.
But any who love you guys!!!! Also just got my first batch of strava cbd coffee and wow. Way worth it
Sunny Rain
Joe Slacco, is way too “cool” for competitive sports. So, since he doesn’t have the fire to play sports, I’m trying to imagine where Slacco would best fit in the workforce. I dare you to find him a career where he won’t ultimately end up unemployed for being so frustratingly apathetic..
Btw, I wish people wouldn’t dubbed the guy, “Joe Cool.”
It’s disrespectful to Snoopy.
Count Bridgeula
Gents,
What if … in the 2013 draft the Broncos had gotten Deandre Hopkins instead of Sylvester Williams?
Your postulations, please.

I hate to say it but I don’t believe Drew will start this year.
1. Elway is gun shy with starting him after all the other rookie qb disasters
2. We own Joe Cool to much dead money to let sit on the bench or get rid of
3. For Mr. B
4. Everyone on the coaching staff and Front office believe Joe is the best and only option.
5. Don’t get me started on this number
6. The Broncos are missing a leader to be the voice of the team to advocate for Drew
7. For Elway – please don’t hurt this team you are my sports Hero

Hey guys i havnt comented in a while, a late late welcome to the family to mase.
I have been an elway supporter for all the time he has been a gm, but now i cant defend what he is doing with lock. I understand if they dont want to play him because he is not ready or behind this terrible o line but why not bring him back to practice and start getting him ready!!!
Maybe the thing that they are waiting for is to see if jawan james can make this o line not one that get lock killed, so lock wont become david car or see gohsts like darnold. Thats the onley thing i can think of but it still wont justify not getting him to the practice field!!!!!.
Oh well, i still have this family to keep me sane.

Awesome pod, I think most of your subscribers have been waiting for your guy’s take on this Drew Lock debacle so it was a nice to hear what your thoughts are.
My Drew Lock conspiracy is that all the pre-draft rumors of Elway loving Lock were 100% true but he probably thought Flacco would be a great bandaid for 2-3 years and ultimately decided to pass on Lock and trade back, ultimately landing Fant and probably deciding to kick the can down the road till next years draft to take a QB with eyes on Herbert. Then by a small miracle Lock falls to the 2nd round and we were able to still land him after all. Elway has always been vocal about taking the Mahomes route with Lock so I’m guessing the earliest we see Lock this year, if at all, is somewhere around or after week 14 (If Lock gets the 2nd spot to return off IR). Probably draft position of need next year and keep building the team with the idea Lock is your Mahomes in waiting. Sorry for the long comment but just wanted to throw my theory out there. Thanks guys! Keep up the good work!
TheGreySweatsuit
I need the fans to continue to root for wins. No matter how much we lose, Elway will NOT let me play Drew Lock this year. He said something about Lock really needing to be set up for success like Gary Kubiak was behind himself. And a backup QB needs to know there place behind a starter in his prime like Flacco. So, fans, keep supporting me… I mean the team because no matter what you won’t see Lock.

My Dudes!
I wanted to jump in here and bring something up that I was thinking about last year. I know on yesterday’s pod RK talked to the shortcomings with Elway’s plan to draft QBs during and post-Manning. I do agree that John has had more than his share of misses via draft. But the man has sure tried to explore many options. He tried to get Kaep back in 2016, tried to land Romo in 2017, and then tried to land Kirk in 2018.. Imagine if one of those would have panned out for us, maybe things would have been different in BroncosCountry.
But i do take a HUGE issue of John saying that Drew isn’t ready to play this year even though he is healthy. Why are we protecting this kid? let him get 4 games under his belt to finish the year off. Similar to what Shanny did with Cutler in 2006 going into 2007. This will a terrible decision and one that would cause me to checkout for the rest of the year. Do better and think ahead, it is not that hard.

Wow! Big thank you to the Zac Attack and Mase Dawg, not only for answering my question about frustrated fans twice, but also giving a completely original answer to my question both times. Easily worth my 3 cents/day to each of you.
Really just shows how dedicated you guys are to this community. Thanks for always giving 100%. Loving the impact of this dedicated fan base.
Also, best of luck on getting Old Republic FC into the Championship League Mase. If only the Broncos could benefit from your prophetic management capabilities.

Bryce Callahan was not placed on IR and Drew Lock was.
That’s it, that’s the comment.
BrianBoz
I’ve been an elway supporter through the good and bad times, mostly because of the last couple drafts he has had, however I’m starting to lose faith. Why is it everyone else in the world sees that Denver needs to play Drew as soon as possible, except elway. I think he has ptsd about all the talk about him drafting bad qb’s throughout his time as gm. But lock needs to start, I don’t see him as a kid who loses his confidence because of a couple interceptions. Just like any qb, there comes a time to throw them in the water and see if they sink or swim. I get elway not wanting to throw him out there before he’s ready, but you can’t do that without an established starter. Flacco sucks, his attitude irritates me more than his play. He doesn’t move, the line gave him more than 3 seconds to throw on about 50% of those sacks last game. Saw Cecil Lammey tweets yesterday on next gen stats about Flacco and he has open receivers with separation, but check down joe doesn’t look to push the ball down field, I’m sick of it, I’ve never been more frustrated as a broncos fan, rant over.
Also Zach by your thought process about farce, elway was a bad qb, his career completion percentage is 56% and his td to interception ratio is 300-226
BleedOrangeBlue
The world of suck continues. I thought John Elway based a QBs value on not only his height but also his 3rd down conversion percentage. Flacco’ was ugly. 3 for 12 or something in that range. What the bleep are we doing with this guy? Tebow was more entertaining than this. I’m sooooo sick of Flacco. I can’t watch him anymore! For the love of God and Broncos Country, ship Flacco somewhere else…Anywhere!!!!!!
