Ticked off Thursday-
I’m ticked. I’m torqued. I’m in a tizzy.
Can you all please explain to the world the difference between a rope and a dime.
Not all good throws are dimes, people! Dimes are dimes and ropes are ropes. Both are great, but to confuse the the two would be to call a curve ball a fast ball, a hook a jab or a rumble a scamper.
Let’s achieve unity here and agree on our nomenclature.

Gentleman – What sort of trajectory do you see for Bradley Chubb? While there have been flashes, he doesn’t seem to be following a Von Miller type of path and becoming a franchise defining guy. Do you think he is more on a Von Miller type of path, or that of a JAG (Just another guy)? Also since Malik Reed finished with more sacks than Chubb, does that say more about Chubb or more about Reed? Would Chubb be good trade bait for Deshaun Watson? Thanks much gentleman, these conversations are a lot of fun.

Hey guys, quick would you rather question. Would you rather the broncos trade up to #2 and grab their QB in the draft this year or trade for Watson with the kicker being you know that the rookie plays 15 years in Denver and makes 3 super bowl appearances while Watson’s accomplishments with the team are a total mystery

I just wanted to say this is such an incredible comment, very creative

Hey fellas,
As much as I want Deshaun to be a Bronco it’s more important that he doesn’t become a raider.
Based on everything George Paton said, and hearing stories about his competitive nature I think, at least, he would box the raiders out of a deal. I have this weird feeling that Deshaun will go to the NFC. He would dominate there; more so than in the AFC.
I have to believe Paton is in the situation room cookin’ something up at the QB spot. One other thought I had is that Paton said he wanted high character guys in the locker room. In my mind that automatically takes Winston off the table. Mariota is one QB I haven’t thought about much but he could be the perfect hedge given the situation. The one silver lining to rolling with Lock is that all of this pressure could ultimately yield a diamond. I think his eyes are open to what the NFL is all about; especially now that his job isn’t safe after only a season and some change. Lastly, don’t forget Tom Brady was able to develop his arm talent over the course of his career. Mac could do the same… just sayin.

A bit of a gamble, but what about trading for Jordan Love? The Packers seem all-in on Rodgers after the season he had, and if Love hits his upside we’d have a QB who could go toe-to-toe with Mahomes and Herbert. Do you think the Packers would take some combo of a second round pick, Drew Lock, and/or Tim Patrick in a trade?
Harry Urban
All this talk about trading for run of the mill *average* Quarterbacks makes me ill.
Derek Carr (I vomited in my mouth) Dalton, Mariota etc… have PROVEN that they cannot get a team to the championship rounds.
To give up 2 first round picks and sundry for a QB that “most likely won’t win the division” and “should guide the team to the playoffs” is a colossal waste of resources and emotional investment.
Yes, the Broncos have been devastatingly poor since Peyton Manning left, but to roll the dice on a QB that has a one in million chance to miraculously take a giant leap in skill level is asinine.
If you’re gonna roll the dice, roll the odds in your favour. Get Deshaun, or trade up in the draft and get “your guy”, and keep rolling until you hit.
Either that or the Broncos close up shop until Mahomes has retired.
Shat out.

MY BOYS!
I hope y’all are doing great. Listening to the pod today was absolutely terrifying. Guaranteed nightmares tonight. If we are in the same division as Watson, Herbert, and Mahomes, that is the worst possible scenario I could think of. So we have to pray to the football gods that this situation doesn’t happen. But let’s get into today’s question.
So I was wondering what your guys’ thoughts were on this. How good does Drew have to do this upcoming season to lock up the starting job in 2022? I personally think he needs to take us to a fight for a playoff spot, just be in the conversation at the end of the season. He needs to have a season similar to Derek Carr’s last season in my opinion. Basically a top fourteen season. Probably about a 3 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio with 25+ touchdowns. At least 3800 yards. And about a 66% completion percentage. He was 35th in completion percentage last year, a 66% would put him right in the middle. I don’t know, I think he just needs to be a reliable, solid quarterback that leads us to the playoffs, or at least a 2020 Miami Dolphins situation where they were in the playoff hunt until the last week. Let me know what you guys think! Also, if we are left not knowing if he is the long term answer this time next year, similarly to how we feel now, i would have a assume he’s out, right? Or at least a backup. Thanks for everything!
Much love,
Sebastian

Fellas,
Let’s say Houston is serious about not moving Watson and he holds out. Is there a time where either the league or players association steps in to try and resolve this? If Watson says “SCREW THIS!” and decides to hold out through his contract then become a free agent in 2026, I imagine there would be some league sponsors who won’t be happy that a super start player isn’t playing.
How say you?

Two part comment:
1. Hopefully this is the time that gets it on the air and RK is present for it: RK=Patrick Wilson. He arguably got the best celebrity look a like shake, sorry Mase and Zac
2. I might be straight BUGGIN but I feel like I have never ever heard Mase say “welcome in to the DNVR Broncos Podcast” and that it’s only ever RK or Zac. Am I insane or is this real life?

The guys said yesterday that if a player at any position performs as one of the poorest players at their position in the league you’re looking to upgrade the next year… I’m not sure the Broncos got the memo on that for the first several years of Garret Bolles’ career. But he was a first rounder.
I understand wanting greatness, but I can’t help but feel like Drew is really getting the crap end of the stick after essentially 1 season worth of games. With no time and no mentor in front of him, injuries + Covid this kid played through an injury of his own, and never gave up. He was mediocre, sure. But if the Broncos jump up and draft Fields at pick 2 and he goes 8-8 with similar stats is the world calling for a QB competition the next year? Of course not, because he’s a first round pick. I’ve heard folks calling for Dwayne Haskins to get more of a chance, and in the same breath saying Denver needs to ditch Drew Lock, it’s crazy how much draft position influences the tolerance for player struggles. I’d love to see how people would view things if the “rounds” never existed, but instead it was just pick 32, pick 33. One player difference between the two, but one affords you 3+ years of trial and error, the other gives you the boot after 1 season if you have a rough time of it.
Thoughts?

Hey kings,
We always hear about the difference in getting “a guy” instead of “the guy” when it comes to quarterback. That factors into scheme, culture, etc.
If you look at the draft and quarterback free agents, who do you believe is the perfect fit for the Pat shurmur offense?
Another Ryan
MY BOYS! The DNVR website was down most of this morning, so hopefully I can squeeze in my question in time. Any idea why the Broncos decided to move on from Alijah Holder, Fred Brown, Joel Heath, Jordan Leggett, and Darrin Paulo right now rather than having them compete in OTAs, training camp, and the preseason? Was it just a case of George Paton having gone through all of the tape of the roster’s players and making moves on some of them now rather than prolonging the inevitable? Have a tremendous Thursday. DNVRMY SALUTE!
