My boys! I came in hot with some post game negativity the other day as I (and we) are all frustrated with so many facets of this team. So today I wanted to come with some positivity and gratitude and say thank you for all the great work that you do. Everything that DNVR does on a regular basis is inspiring to see, entertaining to hear and I’m thankful for this community. I also have a quick question. What are the chances that a new owner is super involved in the day to day operations with this team? I may be wrong but it seems like old school owners like Mr. B, Jerry Jones and Jim Irsay are more hands on and involved with their teams whereas newer potential owners just have insane wealth that they want to spend on a shiny new toy and have the clout that comes with owning a sports franchise when they themselves don’t really know anything about football (i.e Jeff Bezos)

As much as I don’t want it to be the case, I’m tired of always waiting on next year, is it possible Patons best move is to focus on shoring up the roster this offseason and getting a qb the next?

While the chiefs will always be a contender with Mahomes, with his cap hit their strongest seasons seem to be behind them. We saw something similar in Seattle when they had to pay Russ.

In the last 15 super bowls only i think 6 of the 30 teams had a qb with a top 5 cap hit. those qbs were Brady, Peyton, Eli, and Matt Ryan. This suggests your best super bowl window is before shelling out for a mega contract, even with an elite guy.

With the seemingly weak qb class could it be prudent to try to build a roster thats a qb short of truly contending then do whatever it takes to get the guy for 2022 in order to maximize your best window (sort of a 3 step rebuild to compete starting in 2023)? Thoughts?

Fellas,

I understand that the team is trying to make the playoffs and Teddy most likely gives them the best chance. But if Patton is really looking at the long term picture wouldn’t starting Lock be the best choice. Either he figures it out and the team can build around him, or he fails and the team has better draft picks to find The Guy. Having Bridgewater start is just letting mediocrity win and that does nothing to help.

How say you?

Being the worst team in the league is almost as hard as being the best team. You have to make bad draft picks, bad free agency signings, and bad coaching decisions over years to truly be bad. Even then, you can screw up, win one game and ruin everything.

Even if you win that race you become the Jaguars. A team with a COST CONTROLLED QUARTERBACK going to waste while they try to build the roster.

So when we talk rebuild, keep that in mind. We aren’t a team that has a lot of dead weight contracts. We just need to let some veteran talent go as we look to develop younger players for the future. It’s not a radical change.

Mostly we need better coaching.

My boys,

It’s been a rough few weeks. Going to the games in Pittsburgh and Cleveland were brutal. I can’t believe Vic and Pat Shurmur still have jobs. You guys have been the bright spot during this whole season and make my work days better. I didn’t get all the “RK shouldn’t have guaranteed a win” comments – his optimism last Wednesday was a much needed boost!

All that being said, we need to rebuild with a modern offense and a new QB (What do you think the asking price is on Justin Fields?). I have one more game to go to this year – Dallas – and I’m mentally preparing myself to get hurt again.

Much love fellas!

You know what great teams and organizations do ? They allow for the best players to play ….Hayden Hurst drafted I’m the first round …mark Andrews I’m the 3rd both taken the same year Hurst is gone Andrews is a stud …..I want Noa FANT to compete with Albert O for te1 ! Albert O TD in week one vs the giants is a testament to the pedigree of player he is and effort I’m beyond frustrated with noa not fighting for plays and being soft ! ….. We gotta give Albert o more opportunities

I tried scrubbing like hell but this damn tattoo just won’t come off. Haha kidding of course I’m ride or die but dang we sure have taken a swan dive since my son and I decided to profess our love for the squad with some ink. Need a win so I don’t feel like I have a scarlett letter branded on me.
This team has big problems. Something there is just really off and it’s very obvious to anyone watching. Gotta clean house with this coaching staff. Good teams all seem to have a noticeable energy that this Broncos team just doesn’t seem to have. We think it’s sucks for us to watch but it looks like the players hate being on the field even more. This team is broken and we need a new leader. Year 3 in the Fangio system and this is what we get?? No fire, lack of communication, poor tackling, I could go on and on about how how awful this defense is. And on offense there is no identity whatsoever. What are we trying to do on game day? What does the other team have to game plan for? It’s like we go into every game like it’s a preseason game. We have to be the easiest team to coach against. I just don’t get it. I love this team and always will (I have no choice now with this damn tattoo) but watching them is just not very enjoyable. It’s actually painful but rollin with you guys definitely helps ease the pain.

Just to clarify, when I said fans were apathetic and apoplectic, I meant that fans are becoming those two things, but in such a large fanbase you have some that are one or the other, not both at the same time.

Anyway, Paton needs to turn this around. In investing they say every day you don’t sell a stock, you’re basically buying that stock because you could sell it but you’re consciously and intentionally affirming that you still would buy it at the price it is as opposed to selling. These losses aren’t just on Vic and the team, they’re Paton’s fault too. He makes personnel decisions which contribute to the team’s success, he looks at Vic’s coaching and decisions and affirms every day that those decisions and that level of coaching is what he wants for this team right now. While Paton isn’t the person most responsible for the state of the team, he is somewhat responsible, and there’s enough warranted fan criticism of Fangio, Shurmur, etc. that I feel like we should make sure Paton gets his due.

Howdy Gents,

Brown requesting to leave after being misused is the epitome of the ineptitude of the coaching staff. Only used in motion behind the line. I legitimately feel like Shurmur believed that was part of some great RPO due to how many times it was run and the handoff fakes.

Anywho, coming to Denver again this year. RK where did you happen to sit in the stands? Looking forward a great seat. Any recommendations on section?

Thanks for the pod as always.

Hi guys,
Take this comment in jest!
Last week i had no interest in watching the browns game, until a certain DNVR person said “I guarantee a win”, that was enough for me, took the day off work, im a contractor, so no work no pay!
So, who shall i send the invoice for lost revenue to, RK? SPANO? Or can i send it to Elway or Paton?
On a serious not, this franchise is YUK! Start Rypien and lose every game, and get a top 3 pick.
Cheers!

DO NOT FIRE FANGIO or this pathetic staff. We need high draft picks. Interim coach might screw that up. Once stubborn Fang-i-no makes up his mind nothing changes, unless he says not only no music at practice, but then mandates no music at home and you must study the playbook all night. Shurmur, who sucks, used to be my whipping boy, but it’s dawned on me Fangio brought him in and said play a dull ball control offense, so I can have my defense rest and make me look like a Guru. Fail-gio was another poor hire. I’ve cheered for the Broncos since the mid 70’s and it’s never been darker than it has the last 5 years. Thank god for DNVR to make this a tad less painful.

hey guys,

so, i’m seeing a lot of ‘the broncos need to pounce on kyle shanahan if he gets fired’, and even though there’s zero indication he’ll be fired, i just don’t think he’s been very good?

not only have the 49ers also lost 4 straight, kyle himself isn’t faultless. from his questionable personnel decisions, constantly putting guys in his doghouse and refusing to play them and supposedly being an ‘offensive genius’ but having mediocre offenses year in, year out and being carried by his defense constantly, i don’t think i’d want him as a head coach for 2022.

i’d take him as an offensive co-ordinator obviously like 30 other teams, but i’m not sure i’d take him as a HC next year. after a few years maybe, but not right away. what do y’all think?

Greetings all,
Haven’t commented in a while but still listening in regularly. I try to get in on the comments section of the live chat though so I still feel involved.
Don’t want to reiterate any negative comments here because I think all those grievances have already been aired. I do want to mention one thing though. Let’s just call this the year of mase already! Mase’s teams have all been straight fire this year with championships all the way around. The only blemish mase…. Chelsea knocking man city out of the champions league trophy. Womp womp.

Anyways Go dnvr, iceman, avs and nuggets

My Boys!

It’s been a long while since I’ve commented. But of course I’m always tuning into the pod.

I’m excited to say that I will be making a solo trip out to this Sunday’s game from Utah and of course i’ve already got my party bus & tailgate tickets locked in! I must admit though…buying tickets to the game was a very impulsive purchase as I, like most of us, was tricked into believing that we finally had a competent team that was going to be fun to watch again after the 3-0 start…obviously that hasn’t aged well and thus I sit here feeling very orange & blue balled…I thought about selling my ticket after
the Raiders game but ultimately have decided not to…ONLY because I want to meet y’all and get the full DNVR game day experience!

Anyways…I’ve been thinking about potential HC candidates for the future…what do y’all think about Clint Kubiak? Through 6 games he has the Vikings sitting 5th in total yards, 6th in passing, 8th in rushing, & 14th in scoring(24.5/PPG). Not too shabby for a 1st year play caller. If we do in fact switch gears in coaching philosophy and go with a young offensive mind this time around could y’all see him being a dark horse candidate? The connections are obvious both with the Broncos and with George Paton.
