Hopefully I get this post in by the Emergency Pod that’s no doubt coming today. Paton was quoted as saying that this team is a bit of a “sleeping giant”. There are two ways to look at this: It either means that Paton sees this team as being just a few moves short of being really good and is encouraged that we can contend soon, or it means that he is blind to the problems and probably got the job by appealing to Elway’s ego. I do have hope in the former, but I’m curious how you guys took this quote. Maybe it’s just my paranoia over the last few years that even made me think the later.

I keep hearing the buzz that Paton has been the most sought after GM on the market, but no team has been able to poach him off the Vikings. Does this seem like good news he feels good about our ownership situation and they have a good grasp on where its headed? I can’t imagine he would take the job here if he didn’t feel confident in this.

We have the GM, what’s next?

Dont think he will…..but…..If new GM wanted to sign Lock up for extension right now, what do you think it would cost?

Any chance this could be an intelligent gamble to extend him now at big discount if he works out as starter with reasonable enough salary he could just be slightly overpaid solid backup?

Locking in lock now is risky but could really extend the low cost starter window if he works out and pay off huge.

Even though it’s “Pay-ton”, I still prefer the accidental reference to Old Blood and Guts. What gets me excited about the hire is Paton’s ability to find talent. Without him, MSU Mankato legend Adam Theilin wouldn’t have had a chance to get on a 90 man roster. With that in mind, who are college players in CO that you would love to see on the Broncos? A TE room with Fant, Okwuegbunam, and Trey McBride would be terrifying, and absolute overkill

So I definitely need to reprogram my mind. I have been looking at mock drafts and I saw one this morning that had Denver taking Patrick Surtain II in the first round and Dylan Moses in the second. My first thought was this guy is clueless there is no way Elway, who never takes Alabama players, takes two! Then I realized Elway isnt making the decisions and got pretty damn excited if that’s what actually happens. Heard comparisons for Surtain II to Minkah Fitzpatrick. Imagine Vic having that type of chess piece..

I also wanna say thank you to the DNVR Family. You guys go above and beyond and a special thank you to RK. My girlfriend out did herself this year for my birthday. I work in a Assisted Living facility and due to that I havent seen friends or family all year to reduce exposure risk, which has resulted in some serious isolation and low-mental health. Knowing this my girlfriend reached out to all of my people and asked them to send a video to her that reminds me of the love and support I have. This alone was incredibly powerful to watch, but half way through who do I see?? The one and only Ryan Koenigsberg!! Definitely a gift I will remember forever and it goes to show how this is not just a job or a fan base of a podcast show, but truly a family. Sorry for the long comment and my poor grammar, but it’s the offseason right??
