Could it be that this last game just showed the coaching staff the potential of Drew Lock in this offense? Would you say drew lock is more mobile/athletic thank Allen? Better arm strength? More accurate? More proven leadership? Do y’all see where I’m going with this? I’m glad that we might’ve found our back up for a few years, but we all know Allen isn’t the future face of the franchise. Can’t tell y’all how nice it is to not watch sleepy Joe lackadaisically drop back in a Broncos uniform. Oh and Mase you forgot about Broncos fans needing to watch OU for Jalen Hurts… and Kenneth Murray for a 2-3rd round pick.

Hey guys,

So my Broncos finally win this weekend, and what a great win it was too, especially seeing such spectacular plays from Fant and Sutton, & Lindsay finally be allowed to make some plays..but I really feel this win might haunt us in the future. If you look at our schedule we realistically have 2 more games we can win & that’s against the raiders and chargers..putting us at 5-11. With that being said, at this spot can we really get our QB of the future? I just don’t get what direction Elway is leading the organization. Are we still trying to win? Or are we playing for the draft? Allen definitely surprised us this weekend by how good he played but he’s no QB of the future. If we had lost this game we could‘ve realistically finished the season 4-12 which could put us in a position in the draft to pick a player that can turn our organization around. Now, I’m not for tanking, and I’m with RK about how winning is important for our organization and for the players and most importantly the fans..but if we aren’t going to play Lock (who should be our QB of the future) and we have a very difficult schedule coming up, I just don’t understand what the team is player for. Sorry for the the long post guys

Thank you

Hey guys,

A random point that I thought was interesting… The Broncos, even though they scored 3 touchdowns last weekend, still can’t score TDs in the red zone.

It feels weird to say, but after watching last week it’s almost like our chances of scoring big are increased before we get inside the 20. thoughts?

Much love guys,

Hi guys, long time subscriber but first time commenting. Based on what you said about the complexity of the nomenclature with this scheme is it possible that Denver is in no hurry to get Lock practicing and on the field because they have committed to two years before making a decision?

Could they be giving him most of the year to just focus on learning the system, then getting him into practices and playing once he has it completely down? If that’s the case they wouldn’t feel as much urgency to get him involved this year since the real evaluation will be next season?

Just curious to get your take. Love the pod.

I would like to put Mase’s brain to the test when it comes to fairly recent Missouri football History.

Arkansas and Missouri face off annually in a terribly forced and uncomfortable new rivalry known as the “Battle-Line Rivalry”. Drew Lock and Brandon Allen have met head-to-head in this dubious battle of the SEC step children before. You need to get 2 out of 3 questions pertaining to this match-up correct to win. RK and Zac are welcome to play along as well!

Which QB had more passing yards?

Which team won the match-up?

What was the final score?

As the 1st bonafide volunteer on the Mase for commissioner campaign (or should we use ComMASEionner from here on out?) I’d like to start building your case and working on your position stances.

Let’s begin with a scheduling question.

In order to be more fair, do you think the NFL would ever benefit from a two bye week (say 8,9) system, where half the league is off one week and the half, the following? If not, do you have any other changes to the bye week setup you’d change ?

Loved seeing the potential our offense has with a QB that isn’t a statue but I was quietly hopeful of Allen stinking it up and Lock to be brought in.

The thought of us going into next season with a QB competition with Lock and Allen is giving me Siemian/Lynch nightmares.

Hey boys. My question, what week do you guys see Drew finally getting a 53 man roster spot? Please, NO Fitzpatrick bandage! Noah’s 75 yard reception was on an Allen overthrow, superb catch and YACs!!! Sorry if you 3 disagree butt Chris has lost a step, no extension for me, especially after his actions last off season. CHJr. has been a great Bronco butt I prefer the youth rebuild. GO BRONCS/ZOOMIES/DNVR/BBrews

3rd time’s a charm! Lol

Gentlemen!

I can’t express how excited I am for winning the WGT Championship grand prize!!! I’d like to thank the DNVR Broncos family, WGT, and my son for encouraging me to be at least half as good at digital golf as he is at the real thing. Now I have to choose! Do I fly back to the homeland for a game or add to my jersey collection. Decisions, decisions.

Now for some Broncos… this may come as a surprise, but we suck. ?UPDATE? as of Sunday, we suck a little less!!! ? You guys do such a great job keeping us informed about our team, but you do an even better job at keeping our attention as they wander off into the darkness of suckage. How do you guys keep from getting disinterested when it becomes clear, early on, that the season is over. We all rely on you guys, so what do you rely on?

Not sorry for the long comment ?

Much love and GO BRONCOS!!!!

Great Podcast yesterday boys. Describing it as a 1-0 start going into a bye was perfect. Quick little anecdote about life in the Virginia Beach Broncos household. My son David, 11, who’s an avid listener to the pod, has been looking forward to last weekend since he joined the no pay fantasy league. Why? Because he was playing a team called Giggles! He assumed that was you, Zac, and whether you know it or not, to him you’re an international celebrity! It was his brush with greatness, and he squeaked out a win, so between that and the Broncos W, this is going to be an outstanding football week for him!

Is there any reason to keep Von after this year? I, like most fans, have thoroughly enjoyed watching him play. And, if you told me pre-draft the year we drafted him that he would have this level of production, I would have signed on immediately. But with his 25 million dollar cap hit and severely declining production, it is time to move on. Even if that meant just not exercising the team option this year and letting him walk. Many teams have moved on from star players. Including the Chiefs moving on from Justin Houston this past offseason.

We could use that money to fill other needs on the roster, I never thought that it made sense having him and Chubb on the roster. Most teams that have effectively used two great pass rushers employ a four man front. In our scheme, we are asking one or both of them to to drop into coverage and not making the most of their skillsets. We should like for someone to play opposite Chubb that has a skillset similar to Anthony Barr, Josh Allen, OR the guy we passed on in this years draft DEVIN BUSH!

Thanks guys. Love the pod and keep up the great work. As a Broncos fan living in SC, it isn’t always easy to keep up with the team, but y’all do a fantastic job.

This is exactly why i didnt want to see Allen start. He isnt the answer and potentially delays lock’s debut.

Saw Zac report Vic said lock MIGHT practice next week? Might? Are you kidding me?

Practice? We’re talking about practice!?!

If lock doesnt practice next week for some idiotic reason and then Allen gets destroyed in next 2 road games does rypien start week 13?

Hey fellas! I was at the game this weekend and just have to say it was such a breath of fresh air to have QB with some mobility. Seriously, Joe Flacco is slower than the last 5 minutes of school before summer vacation! Anyways, got to experience some DNVR favorites while out there. My girlfriend and I went to My Brothers Bar (such amazing burgers) we checked out Sports Column and their great food and drinks and we picked up some Breck Brews to take home. Super excited to try them! I read an article recently that went into detail about Joe Flacco’s contract and how it wasn’t as hard on the team as many think and that it would be easy to get out of it. With that in mind, do you think that Joe Flacco will be on this roster next year? Thanks for all you guys do! And as always, go Broncos and go DNVR!

How is it possible that the fanbase of a franchise that has had Elway and Manning leading them can have such a low bar for QB play? There were plenty of fans who actually thought Trevor Siemian was an NFL QB. And now people are losing their minds over Brandon Allen, as if Sunday’s game was something to write home about. 12 for 20 for 193 yards, with 75 of those yards being Noah Fant running with the ball, and two touchdowns, is now something to lose our minds over? His ball placement was spotty at best, and he looked jittery in the pocket. Sure, nice win, but are people actually looking at that performance and thinking we’ll now have a QB controversy between Allen and Lock? Zac was one of the voices of sanity and was correct to say that if Allen plays like he did Sunday he won’t be the starter for long, but now Zac has an article up calling Allen’s debut “magnificent.” Magnificent, really? What am I missing? All I saw was a guy who might be able to compete for the backup job.

Fellas,

I need to be clear here. I like Allen as a player and as a leader much better then Flacco. Flacco I think pissed the mob off and got some cement shoes. I NEED to see Lock asap! In the meantime we can see what we have in our backup and at least have some excitement on Sundays instead of despair. I give Allen bold predictions because I think with this cast (except O line) and his mobility, he can have a shot at doing good things.

Couple questions- What would you give up to get Stafford if Lock isn’t the guy? If you could get him for a ’21 First round then this year you can draft 2 O line (trading up) in the first round.

Lets say Drew is the guy, what does your draft board look like (just day 1 & 2)?

I’m really getting annoyed of Phil not getting very many touches. If we are not giving him touches, why can’t we use him in the passing game more often? His speed and explosiveness would help out tremendously. Also I feel like if Brandon Allen plays well the whole season, Elway would say that he’s our starter for the future. I’m sure Mase would have a mental breakdown haha

How can Vic be “up in the air” about Lock practicing!?!?

Is there ANY halfway decent reason not to PRACTICE him???

Nothing Elway said last week has matched with what Drew, medical staff or Scangarello have said!!! Physically, Lock and medical staff have said he’s been ready to PRACTICE for the past 3 weeks now. I get that he isn’t game ready not practicing for so long, but isn’t that WHY you get him to practice so that he CAN get there physically??? Mentally, Scangarello said Lock has “done a great job preparing” and he “liked where he’s heading”. So is there a miscommunication somewhere between the staff? Is Elway still debating who he want’s to bring off IR? Does Vic just not want to bring Lock back? Or am I reading everything all wrong??? So confused on why they don’t even let him practice, let alone play so they can evaluate him.

Boys, this comment is for the diehard football nerds. I’m here to talk about compensatory pick formulas!!
The formula makes its calculations based on three numbers: a player’s contract size, playing time, and honors such as pro bowl appearances or MVP.
There are three things to watch for as Broncos fans.
1) Bryce Callahan’s playing time. He hasn’t seen the field yet, which diminishes his value to the formula. Presumably, if he doesn’t play, the Broncos’ pick compensation would increase.
2) Ja’Wuan James’s play time. See Callahan, Bryce.
3) Shaquill Barrett pro bowl appearance. If he gets the pro bowl appearance he deserves, the formula should compensate the Broncos a little extra for losing such a valuable player.

These things wouldn’t make massive changes. Currently, Over The Cap projects that the Broncos will receive a 5th and two 7th rounders. My rough math, which is mostly guessing, says that the best it could improve to is a 4th, a 5th and a 7th. And that is probably too optimistic. But I found it interesting and I hope some others in the DNVR community do too!

Hi guys. In the parlance of Obi Wan Kenobi, Brandon Allen has taken his first step into a larger world. Okay, maybe that’s a bit much. But I always look at QB play a little differently than perhaps others do.

When Tebow was doing his magic, he was winning games. But I always believed, and still believe, the Broncos were winning in spite of his play.

The Broncos beat the Browns because of Allen’s play! He wasn’t perfect. Far from it. But, the plays he did make won the game just as much as the defense. QBR be damned, he’s a gamer.

Now that being said, I’m neither the fool nor the fool who follows the fool. Let’s get Lock on the field. Allen was fun. Broncos weren’t the Browncos for a day. But he’s probably not the guy. Maybe Lock is. Gotta find out. If nothing else, Broncos football was fun again…if only for a day.

Mase,

Your analogy of the Broncos being thirsty for average QB reminded of Quantum of Solace, the Broncos are in the desert with a bottle of antifreeze and eventually will get thirsty enough to drink it, or, somehow trick themselves into thinking it’s water. That antifreeze bottle is Brandon Allen. Loved the game but, my God, get Lock in there. What is the point of messing around with Kevin Hogan 2.0? Guys, my question is, how much film does it take before teams have an answer, because that’s how many more games Allen has. Thanks for the content, guys.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to take a moment and use my privilege as a subscriber (ps if you also want these privileges make sure to subscribe using code ZAC — love a good underdog story) to bring some attention to the month of November — or Movember. It’s November again which mean I’m rocking a mustache all month to help raise awareness for men’s health. Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young by rocking a stache of your own or, if you feel so inclined, donating to my cause. Here’s the link to read more about my story and to donate if you would like (https://mobro.co/13826326?mc=1). Thanks so much to everyone in this amazing community. Go Broncos!
