Hey guys, you know who has 1/2 as many wins this year as Joe Flacco? Brandon Allen!
Putting on the tin-foil hat (and disregarding the likely correct AAA pitcher analogy): do you guys think Flacco was an Elway decision w/o approval from—and maybe in spite of—the coaching staff? Flacco checks all the Elway boxes: tall, pale, big arm. But Allen looked a lot better in this scheme—at least today. Any chance the staff didn’t have all that much input in the first place?
MissouriBronco
Soon to be as many or more wins than Joe!

I posted this last Thursday forgetting there’s not Friday pods so here’s my rant reposted lol!
And sorry in advance cuz this is a doozy of a comment.
“You guys have me convinced. John Elway needs to go. He’s running this team into the ground with his short sighted approach and inability to make the right choice when it comes to making decisions regarding QBs. Drew Lock HAS TO HAS TO HAS TO play this year!!! How do they honestly expect him to develop at any reasonable level if he’s not out there getting reps?? It hurts seeing him ruin this team and not recognize that we need a youth movement worse than any team in the league.
I do disagree with Mase on the QB class this year though. Outside of Tua there is not a guy I would feel confident drafting in the first round.
Justin Herbert? Barely scores 20 against PAC12 DEFENSES!! (This was more relevant before he went and torched USC)
Jake Fromm? More like Jake Flacco. He’s a game manager and is only decent because of the talent around him.
Jacob Eason? Ehhhhh maybe at the right price.
Jordan Love? He’s been awful for the whole season.
Jalen Hurts? Okay I secretly love him because I go to OU but that’s like a third round flyer. He has issues seeing guys and gets locked in to one guy too often and his willingness to run straight for contact scares me(Also with whatever power you guys have to influence John Elway, PLEASE GET CEEDEE TO DENVER!!!!)
Anyways this class doesn’t even sniff 2017s class. While Baker and Sam Darnold have struggled, they have bright futures with their respective teams and Josh Allen looks better this year. Lamar Jackson is obviously a phenom. I just don’t see us taking a QB when honestly Tua is the only one that I see is better than Drew in this years class and we’re not gonna be in a position to get him.
My rant is over for now until more disheartening news comes out about this team and Drew.”
Again this comment was last week before the game but Brandon Allen did look good this week. It’ll be very interesting to see how he looks against a defense with a pulse in two weeks but I really hope John Elway doesn’t latch onto this fools gold performance because I highly doubt Brandon Allen can keep this up and we literally have to find out about Drew Lock this year.

A win? Holy cow! This cheered me up after watching the Chiefs kick a GW FG 🙁 I hate seeing them win. But on the bright side, I’d much rather them win this, then say, their own trophy.
While I wish Allen well, we still need Lock by Los Angeles at the LATEST! I would say more here, but hell, over the past few weeks, we’ve covered damn near everything regarding this matter.
I did a little research (maybe Mase can check it), and the Broncos and Raiders are tied with the most consecutive AFC West titles with five. Do you guys think Kansas City can tie or break it? If not, which team breaks the streak?
Cheers to the win, but RIP to our draft position.

New subscriber and first comment after being a free loader for a bit. I was happy to see a great win today after flying into town to watch the game. I came in with extremely low expectations but thought Allen played a great game and and surprised by a good game plan. I’m not all aboard the Allen bandwagon, but have some hope for Lock when he eventually plays (hopefully) and this young offense. Do you think Allen’s good play will derail Lock coming in soon? I have little faith in Elway doing the obvious right thing and starting him ASAP. I Appreciate all the entertainment you guys provide, and you’re right.. Colorado tap water is the best, going to bottle some up and take it back to Vegas where the water is like something out of a rest stop bathroom toilet.

Well, along with Bumpy Buffalo, at least for one week, I feel vindicated. Maybe it’s spending a career in the military, but there was something so wrong with Flacco’s lack of leadership and enthusiasm, it seemed like the effects on the rest of the team might have been greater than those reflected in mere statistics. As far as Brandon goes, the biggest hit on him was his performance in preseason games, yet we spend the entire preseason pointing out how meaningless preseason performances are as indicators of regular season success. Either way, there appeared to be excitement at Mile High today, something Flacco was incapable of producing.
Some stats from this week in football, for perspective on Brandon’s performance:
– Brandon’s 125.6 passer rating was the 4th best of the week (obviously excluding MNF); Murray had 130.7; Wilson had 133.7; and Garropolo had 136.9. The average rating across all 26 active QBs was 100.9.
– A big reason for the high rating was his yards per attempt, which at 9.7 yards/attempt was also the 4th best of the week, behind Stafford (9.9 yards), Murray (10.0 yards), and Rivers (10.5 yards).
– Finally, no quarterback had fewer attempts than Brandon; he tied for the fewest with Josh Allen at 20 attempts (the league average this week was 33.5 attempts)

Finally we are proven right! I know the next 2 games are going to be tougher but I see this going great for Allen. Thanks for the stat work Va Beach Broncos and thank you for your service!

Hey boys. The Broncs have beaten 3 teams with a combined 10-16 records, just sayin. Nice wins by the Broncs and Air Force. Allen seemed to prove Flacco was more of the issue, not 1st. year OC Rich S. GO DENVER AND THE FALCONS

As fantastic as this win was, the Broncos CANNOT forget what has to happen: Drew Lock MUST start week 13 on. All this win shows is that Brandon Allen can be a solid backup and that Scangarello can be an excellent game planner and/or play caller when given a quarterback with decent mobility. Even if Denver pulls two wins out of thin air (they won’t) and Fangio and Elway decide they can’t seriously believe Allen gives them a better chance to win than Lock. I am grateful for a win and love to see the team happy and successful, but the goal of the season doesn’t change— Denver must find out what it has in Lock!

Hey DNVR fam!
I thought Allen played pretty well on Sunday and expect him to improve with more reps but by far the most impressive thing for me was the play calling offensively which leads to my question. I’ve never been a big Flacco fan but his arm strength could never be denied. He had one of the best deep balls in the league and it seemed like we never utilized it yet Allen took a few deep shots yesterday which I love. Why the change? Was it Flacco’s comments?
Thanks guys!
Lovethunderdownunder
I hearby declare that all analysis of Brandon Allen must follow the “wwjffhd”, or
What would Joe Flaccid Flacco have done.
Examples
3rd and 8 at c9:30 in QTR1 – Joe would have waited in the disappearing pocket and been sacked. Brandon Allen ran for the first down
2nd and 11 at 7:00 in QTR1 – Batted ball at the line, Joe would have “Cam, The Fig, Newtowned” it and not made a play at the call. Brandon Allen attempt to catch and run with it.
1st and 10 at 6:11 in QTR1 – Joe wouldn’t think Sutton is capable of winning the battle, and looks to this second read, throws it short of the markers. Brandon Allen trusts his man and scores a TD
And that’s just one drive.
Oh and it’s unconfirmed, but I’m pretty sure Fant only trucks that CB because there was residual passion on that ball from Brandon Allen. Wwjffhd? The only thing Joe leaves on the ball is the tears of disappointed and misery of Broncos country (and it’s slippery as a result).
What I want to see is building for a future. Allen deserves to start for as long as we put 20+ offensive points on the board. I’m ok waiting for Lock if we see a future worth testing in Allen.
domsiglow
Hey boys, been awhile since I last commented. A couple things to say here
-Justin Simmons is a STUD, John better resign this man right away
-Court has top 3 receiver potential
-Noah Fant KILLED IT last night, dude is really coming into his own here
-Bolles better be off the team next year or the DNVR team will riot (probably)
-This team is gonna be great in the future, these games are just making me so much more excited for the seasons to come. Our offense can actually be electric and the defense is gonna look great with studs like Simmons and Chubb with Reed and AJ Johnson killing the other team. Which leads to the next point…
-WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT THIS QB SPOT! Is Allen… good? We also need to see what drew is, and if they both arent the answer we have a top pick this year. This isn’t a bad problem at all
– Can’t wait for the future with you amazing people reporting it. Keep it goin dnvr ✌️
Lovethunderdownunder
Let’s play a round of Fant or Kittle – go;
9 games, 277 yards, 1 TD, 27 receptions
9 games, 300 yards, 2 TD, 23 receptions

As an Oklahoma State fan watch Baker Mayfield get turned from that cocky *swear word* to a “used car salesman on his third divorce” will never get old. Loved watching the future of this team shine. While I have no doubt Allen isn’t the future of this team it was nice to see someone more mobile than a fence post play QB.
Thanks for the content boys and I’ll leave you with this hot take. Mason Rudolph is a better QB than Baker “Johnny Manziel with a better PR team” Mayfield.

Well, weird stuff. I genuinely thought that after all the hope you expressed last week our boy Brandon would go out there and Nathan Peterman it for a while, to be replaced by Rypien. Looks like I was wrong.
Also, I’ve had this thought for a while that we’re just “The Guy” away from being a contender in the division. Tonight mere adequate QB play proved our offense can handle it. Throw in a new weapon for that guy and you’ve got a good offense. Plus the D is looking like they’re playing for champ status because they didn’t have to make a game-ending stop for once in many moons.
I feel good that we got to see this performance, but a win doesn’t encourage me about our draft status. Neither does the fact that if Allen does this again Drew might be on the shelf longer. I’m worried.
OnionTownLynx
Allen has half the wins as Flacco had in 8 games, one third of all his TDs, and 1000% more support and confidence from the fanbase. Why, in heaven, on earth, or in hell did Joe Flacco suck SO BAD through 8 games and why do I think with him starting we would have still only scored 13 points? Do any of you have an explanation other than his legs? Cause i have one. Lack of intelligence. Lack of leadership. I thought I was in an alternate universe when Allen took the field. He looked the part of a commander. He had the morale of his teammates soaring and they made big plays for him because of it. I can tell Allen is better because everyone else plays better when he’s out there. Thanks for reading the comments.

Being a die hard Razorback fan, I imagine this is how RK must’ve felt when Phillip Lindsey bursted onto the scene in Orange and Blue. I will be realistic and pump the breaks on the hype train, but I knew BA would be a gamer just like he was at Arkansas. I also have to say that Andrew Mason was the only Broncos writer I heard actually give him a shot of being successful this Sunday, so shout out to you Mase!
I also want to point out that Adam Rank was wrong about the 2019 broncos and owes the Broncos Country a sincere apology for his ineptitude for his 2-14 prediction.
Lastly, when you talked about successful 2019 QBs this year you guys forgot to include QB’s drafted by the Jaguars in the 6th round with those that have the last name Allen. Brandon checks both of those boxes. Should’ve seen this coming!
Woo Pig Sooie and Go Broncos!
Huh who would’ve thought that a mobile QB who can extend plays and help his offensive line and make defenders have to cover receivers longer than they want and had to think about the QB running for it would help your offense? Totally wouldn’t have guessed it. *ABSOLUTELY DRIPPING WITH SARCASM*
BroncosSixers1230
Crazy how Joe Flacco has made Allen’s first start seem any good. Aside from two fantastic plays from Sutton and Fant , Allen did not look that good to me. Even his scramble for a first down isn’t impressive, almost anywhere outside of Denver that’s a play that happens multiple times a game for a QB. Slow the brakes on Allen. O and he played the Browns……

And sail to towards draft-land where a Franchise QB awaits. Oh, we have one of those too but he’s locked up in steerage class engaged only in the twistings of theoretical knot tying and the daily ritual of a virtual scuttlebutt. Meanwhile, in other navies, ensigns Mahomes and Jackson and Watson learn the ropes with wreckless abandon and vanquish enemies that we once defeated as well.
Please, someone find the keys and let our Future Admiral on the Deck.
To that end, what’s a time in you Gents’ lives where you felt like you had the talent to succeed but we’re kept under lock and key for some odd reason?

World of Suck
What a surprise the cornerback position has been! When Talib left, we entered into a rotating door at the second corner spot and everyone we put out sucked! Roby, Langley, and Yiadom… so we signed Callahan, who can’t get on the field. In desperation we turn to nobodies like Bausby, Devontae Harris, and Duke Dawson and they’re killing it! The CB room has quietly become an under appreciated aspect of this team.
What do y’all project the cornerback room to look like in 2020? Is the needle moving on CHJ staying? Any draft or FA additions?
BroncoMatt
Hey guys,
I know my posts are usually negative, but it’s from years of dealing with this team. Back to my stance Lock will never play a snap as a Bronco. Also the worst thing for this team is if Allen keeps doing okay. We all know Elway has a fetish for average QB play. The urgency to see Lock play has not changed, but the bad news of this win is it released some of that pressure. Also Sleepy Joe has clearly been the problem. That game was a ton of fun though, glad they won, but winning is very dangerous when you have a GM like Elway. Wish I had more time to swing by the tailgate maybe next year.
Have a wonderful Monday

A few nuggets of knowledge. Deshaun Watson, 28 attempts 201 yds 2TD’s, Brandon Allen, 20 attempts 193 yds 2TD’s, Aaron Rodgers, 35 attempts 161 yds 1 TD (Mase if it matters Allen played against Cleveland does it matter that Rodgers played the Chargers??) Josh Allen, 20 attempts 160 yds 1 TD. If we ( Va Beach Broncos and I) had told you going in to this week that Brandon Allen would preform as well as Watson, better then Rodgers (vs the freaking Chargers!), and Josh Allen in all metrics (except attempts and completion %) you all would have laughed at us as you have all season long… hows that humble pie taste fellas?
Bold predictions for next week. Allen 17 of 28 235 yds 2 passing TD and 1 Rushing TD. Plus the rushing game actually tops 100 yds against the Vikings D.
Go DNVR and go Broncos

Is it just me or is Allen’s success really bad for the team, and I’m not talking about draft position. Sure that doesn’t help, but now even if we get to see lock this year, and he’s not immediately better then Allen the fan base will be divided. We will have a full blown qb controversy. With Allen playing well I think elway will keep lock sidelined for the whole season now like he wanted to all along. Really screwing us this offseason.
Chicken Joe
New subscriber here just have to say how quick of a turnaround this team can have should Drew Lock be the next QB1 of this team. This team is very promising with a ton of young players that have potential to be top talents at their position i.e. Sutton, Simmons, Risner, Fant, Chubb. All credit to Elway for digging himself out of a hole he got himself into but I think with another offseason with Fangio whom I am absolutely sold on, and another draft and some free agents this team could be a contender sooner than we realize
LH Almeida - MHBr
Hey guys! Andre from Mile High Brazil here. Do you guys think the improvement on the play calling is on Scangs with a more aggressive posture or Allen being a more coachable QB than Flacco, I mean was Flacco holding Scangs all that time? because he is not mobile and not willing to do somethings that are Scangs strenght?
Thanks, DNVR is the best!
Cam Walter
Look, I know you guys have to be logical since you cover the team. But I’m just a fan, so I don’t. I am HERE for Brandon Allen and I’m going to choose to believe that he’s the guy moving forward! Can’t wait to see what he does against Minny.

Hello from rainy England! I have finally subscribed to DNVR, after listening to your podcast for a long time! Love the podcast, always sorts out my morning commute.
So my first questions to you guys are…
1. How much do you think Allen can now take the pressure off of Scangs, Fant and the O-line?
2. Are Yorkshire puddings a thing in the States?
Cheers!
Charlie
Gentlemen!
I can’t express how excited I am for winning the WGT Championship grand prize!!! I’d like to thank the DNVR Broncos family, WGT, and my son for encouraging me to be at least half as good at digital golf as he is at the real thing. Now I have to choose! Do I fly back to the homeland for a game or add to my jersey collection. Decisions, decisions.
Now for some Broncos… this may come as a surprise, but we suck. ?UPDATE? as of Sunday, we suck a little less!!! ? You guys do such a great job keeping us informed about our team, but you do an even better job at keeping our attention as they wander off into the darkness of suckage. How do you guys keep from getting disinterested when it becomes clear, early on, that the season is over. We all rely on you guys, so what do you rely on?
Not sorry for the long comment ?
Much love and GO BRONCOS!!!!
OoO Benny Lava
Damn good post game pod boys.
I wanted to touch on the skangs play calling a little bit more, the subscribers that are in the madden league on Xbox have been live chatting during the games. The main thing we were noticing on offense is that the threat of a mobile qb really opened up the offense and allowed skangs to get more aggressive with his calls. It makes me think back to the comments that a statuesque qb is better at running the boot because yer not expecting it… That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. This clearly works better with a qb that can move. How are they just now figuring this out?
Also mad props to the defense in the red one, I don’t care who were playing, that was impressive. Harris, number 27, looked real good out there. Lifeboat?
Count Bridgeula
In order to be more fair do you think the NFL would ever just have two bye weeks (say 8,9) and half the league is off each week?

The No Fun League allows the aesthetically disastrous combo of Cleveland home brown in Mile High, but complains about someone’s goofy cleats? I about lost my eyesight watching this game!
Yo, League office – who the heck thought it was a great idea to allow all doo-doo brown in Mile High? You’re paying for any lingering adverse effects. Ugh!
MillerLife58
For everyone out there criticizing Elway and saying he has never drafted well…
Fant: Leads Rookie TE’s in Yards
Risner: One of the top PFF Graded Rookie Lineman
Lock: Still unknown, but promise for franchise QB
Hollins: Recorded first sack and is starting to play well
I’m not saying Elway is perfect, and I still think this handling of Lock has been a mess, but you got to give him credit for his drafts the past couple of years. We now are starting to form a strong young core for the years to come. With how many draft picks we have this upcoming year, Elway will have the opportunity to solidify who the Broncos are going to be for the next decade. Despite a losing season, exciting times to be a Broncos fan!
Orange and Blue Devils
I was in town and at yesterday’s game and the day could not have been more perfect. I went to every game growing up and also to the last game played at Mile High Stadium, but this was my first time at the new stadium, as I now live in Washington, D.C. (yay Nats!). We had phenomenal seats on the 50 yard line halfway up the bottom level. I was somewhat surprised at how many Brown’s fans were in our section but overall it seemed like a home crowd. I really wanted to stop by and meet you all at the tailgate, but I was with my 82 year old dad and he didn’t seem that interested (though he undoubtedly would have been the life of the party!) I don’t have a question, but it was such a great day I just wanted to leave a comment.

I’m just here to say that Noah Fant got a man fired Sunday.
