With Jawaun James opting out and his contract getting moved a year down the road, had me thinking. With Simmons (and other franchise players) playing on the franchise tag, what is keeping these players from opting out? Since they are playing on the franchise tag would they not have an option to sign a contract in 2021? Or would they become a FA once again? New window to negotiate or is that gone?

Now trivia time for Mase. Name the player that opted out at halftime of a game a few years back. And what connection did he have to Denver?

Ryan,
It’s time to drop the Keto diet and start carb loading. Suit up and buckle the chin strap, you’re going in at Right Tackle for the Denver Broncos.

Hey guys,
I am trying my best on not to hate this guy. He has a good excuse to opt out and should be a respected decision. But being him, and after all that happened last year? Man It is hate not to hate him. Anyways how about giving a call to Veldheer?

Hey guys
So Woody Paige tweeted this yesterday “ If I were in charge of Broncos, I would follow the lead of Saints and put entire team in bubble at one of the many close hotels. I’ve seen several players out and about not wearing masks or social distancing.”..Well that doesn’t sound too good. He’s seen SEVERAL PLAYERS out and not wearing masks or social distancing!!! When I read this I couldn’t believe it! With the season on the line, players can’t being doing that!! What do you guys think? Thanks have a great day

wonder if the broncos could swing a trade for matt feiler. he was very good at RT last year but for some reason the steelers are switching him at LG this year. he’s playing on an rfa tender so he’s in his last of year of his deal. the steelers have a bunch of guys that can fill in at LG so they’re not lacking depth.

my guess is that it’d probably take a third? interestingly enough steelers fans were clamoring for the steelers to trade for phillip lindsay earlier in the offseason. would you do a feiler for lindsay trade straight up, especially if you believed in levante bellamy?

also mase, i completely agree with you. the ‘they should’ve drafted josh jones over hamler’ is the most asinine take that’s come out of the ja’wuan james news. absolutely zero guarantee that jones would’ve been ready to start right now and he fell in the draft for a reason.

Hey guys!

The avoid the chorus of panicking with the Juwann James news, all I have to say is it’ll work out. I don’t know how, I don’t know who it’ll be playing there, but I assume they’ll have a pulse. They’ll definitely have the best coach to help them out. Personally, I like the idea of bringing back Jared Vehldeer whilst developing Natane Muti into a future outside line role, post 2021. It’s not sexy, certainly not ideal, probably not the best option, but it would define the term stop gap.

Anyway, let’s talk about our horse bros, the Indianapolis Colts. The history between these two teams has truly been defined by 2 quarterbacks: John Elway and Peyton Manning. Both were drafted by the Colts. Elway, after demanding an immediate trade, proceeded to torment Baltimore/Indi during the 80’s and early 90’s. Likewise, Manning tortured the broncos for years before becoming one himself. Even though the series is officially tied 14 all, Indi has them were it counts, 3-0 in the playoffs against Denver. But, Denver also wouldn’t have their 3 Superbowl wins without the colts in some fasion. So what is the best Broncos and Colts game? Is it the rookie Elway leading an unimaginable comeback, down 19-0 in the fourth to beat the team he wanted no part in? Peyton finally getting a W against the team who’s house he built in 2014, officially making him one of very few players to have a victory against every team in the NFL? The two times Plummer got the better of Indi, one of which Manning was out for?

And what about your Bucs, Mase? The history isn’t great, but a couple of those games were legendary

Hey guys!

Mase, I’m here with another wawa comment. I lived in MD for about 7 years. Wawa was my GO TO late night food runs. I would always get the BBQ chicken strip sandwich with a banana fosters milkshake, thinking about it makes my mouth water! Any way, I got relocated out here to CO, and almost no one had heard of wawa. When I described it, they called it JUST A GAS STATION. I feel like wawa is like Drew Lock. Where is the national recognition? when is the disrespect going to stop! Luckily I met someone from VA who understood wawa, so it made it slightly better.
Sorry for the rant!

One quick question!
I saw on twitter that Dwanye “the rock” Johnson bought the XFL! Do you think he can get this minor league revived even with Covid? Can we smell… what the rock is cooking?

I’ll see myself out

Demar Dotson? Mase, is he any good? Have to be honest, a name I know, and know he’s been solid for a while, but not someone I could fairly grade on my own, unless I have a TV, GamePass, 30 hours to kill, and a lot of alcohol and tobacco to get through it.

Curious for your thoughts on if the Broncos do not sign anyone in 2020 and roll the James $13M cap savings into 2021, than use that rolled over cap savings to justify the $19M cap hit it will take to cut James in 2021? Not necessarily ideal but does finally get James off the books.

I have never in my life been so disappointed by the DNVR Broncos beat crew. This morning, I downloaded the most recent episode of the pod, titled “The move Denver must make at right tackle.” I thought I was in for the treat of a lifetime: an entire podcast dedicated to MY GUY HUNTER WATTS. But no, not even a mention. Not even in Mase’s 1500 word article. SMH.

All kidding aside, I’m happy for Ju’Wuan James and I hope every guy in his position makes the same decision. My firstborn son is about 2 or 3 weeks older than Ju’Wuan’s baby, and there is just no amount of money that is worth risking the health of a precious newborn life, so good for him putting his family first. We may be living in a world of suck at the right tackle position in 2020 but at the end of the day it’s just football.

Also, to anyone in the DNVR community that has not taken up an interest in hockey, now is the time to do it! Obviously its weird not having fans, but from a pure sport perspective, this might be the best NHL playoffs of our lifetimes. Every single team is fresh and healthy and will be flying down the ice. It’ll be the hardest Cup to win but the Avs are built to do it. Tune in now so you don’t miss out on what could be an historic Stanley Cup run for Colorado!

Are there certain sets, plays, strategies that an offense can use to mitigate a lack of talent at right tackle? What’s the band- aid, scheme-wise, for such a glaring loss?

My dudes..

Over the weekend i managed to jack my right arm up(two bone contusions and ligament damage), watched Utah lose two vital games and i lost my families big cornhole tourny because i had to shoot lefty. I made it two the semi finals out of 20 people, and i WAS the two time defending champ.

MY BOYS! In 2019, Ja’Wuan James agreed to a four-year, $51 million deal with the Broncos, that included a $12 million signing bonus and a total guarantee of $32 million. James has played 63 snaps for the Broncos. James has made $507,936.51 per snap (guaranteed money divided by snap total) as a Denver Bronco over what will be a two-year span. Obviously, John Elway & Co. could not have predicted what 2020 would have in store as far as a global pandemic, but based on James’ previous injury history, the signing was risky at the time. Signing James now is looking like possibly the worst free agent move of the John Elway Era and possibly in Broncos’ history based on how much money was shelled out with almost zero production. It appears that there is no easy way out of the deal in 2021 either. Yikes. In retrospect, should the Broncos have gone a different direction with their 95th pick in this year’s draft? The Broncos could have had Lucas Niang or Matt Peart at that spot. I think that McTelvin Agim can develop into a very good player with the Broncos under Vic Fangio and Bill Kollar, but based on Denver’s current situation at offensive tackle, it sure would be nice to have Niang or Peart to develop and possibly get on the field in 2020. Onward and upward, fellas! DNVRMY SALUTE!

Holy Hell James has finally signaled the beginning of the end. Bolles is our new Mad Maxx, the lone survivor in a post apocalyptic world, roaming the barren wastelands of the NFL with his loyal dog (played by Phil Lindsay) looking for food and someone to give an aggressive hug to. This is what we get for doing those damn TikTok dances, I warned you!!!

On a serious note, with James’ cap space for 2020 now freed up does that mean if we roll it over to 2021 we are essentially getting James for free next year as his cap hit will be a zero sum? And on the same topic if Munchak happens to unearth the next Villanueva this year and we move on from James next year does that mean we would actually save money when you add the 2020 savings into the freed cap space from cutting him and count it against the dead money hit?

I’m not going to contribute to the chicanery of making ridiculous O line suggestions that involve people like Muti at tackle, but this may be a blessing in disguise. We just ripped the bandaid off. And to respond to the Count’s question about scheming to account for a weak right side the answer is yes, there are plays to account for a weakness on the line, we’ve been doing the same thing for the left side for three years LOL.

Stay safe out there everyone, and maybe stock up ramen and crossbows because the apocalypse is upon us,

Hey Guys , I’m sorry if this Makes me a super fan and Biased ……but I can’t give Juwan James a pass …. If Von, Courtland (lord please not drew knock on wood ) heck even if Garret bolles opted out I would have understood and said hey do what’s best for your family BUT NO ! NOT JUWAN JAMES U PLAYED 3 QUARTERS FOR US BRO !!!!! U gotta read the room the reason u were sooo overpaid was because of our mishaps at rt and that’s on elway not him but PEOPLE WERE DEPENDING ON U !!!! ….I understand there’s life beyond football but there should have been conversations about assuring your saftey before making this decision man ! He was going to be cut after this year in my.mind and now he’s on the roster one more year this supports the owners theory that players are opting out to keep money when they would be cut we were gonna cut him after this season! And now we’re stuck Im trying to understand Juwan but u weren’t in a position to do this not u bro ……..I feel doomed but surprisingly Calvin Anderson is my only ounce of optimism because ……his cryptic tweets makes me think he knows something we don’t and u can’t out that much out in the atmosphere and not be prepared to produce so my money is on him and his confidence and idk what else to do Elijah is horrible ! He’s not the answer maybe as a swing tackle bit that’s it …so here we go bronco’s 2020 buckle up ! ?

Hey guys, I know I may have an unpopular opinion on this one but hear me out. I am all aboard the hype train for Jerry Judy and kj hamler, but with all the woes you guys have talked about for the right tackle position over the last decade and at left tackle why in in love of God did we not even draft a developmental tackle in this years draft! I know no one really saw this coming but I just feel like we should have spent some of our higher draft picks on tackle. We all know wide receiver was extremely deep this year and we could have potentially found some weapons deep for lock but it dont mean nothing if lock cant be in the pocket to deliver a ball to them. Also, we knew that james was unreliable when we decided to pay him. I certainly respect the man for opting out dont get me wrong but I just feel like the Broncos were just expecting everything to be fine at tackle and created no backup plan whatsoever. What’s the definition of insanity, “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.” Maybe I’m just having a knee jerk reaction here. Anyways keep up the great work. Go Broncos and go dnvr!
