Mase, you are an actual genius! How the cuss do you remember all of those details about that meaningless game?! My mind is blown!
Looking to the future, I have 3 questions that could be options to improve this offensive line:
1. Should Dalton Risner move to Left Tackle?
2. Should Denver pick up a center and Move Conner McGovern back to RG after Leary is cut?
3. Could Garrett Bolles make a serviceable swing tackle?
BroncoBornBroncoBred
1. No (you finally have something to rely on don’t change it)
2. No (why not just find a RG rather than changing someone’s position)
3. No (no explanation needed)
Steve_Atwater_HOFer
1. A good Left Tackle is more important than an All Pro LG
2. Conner was a better RG than a Center
3. Bolles is probably better than Wilkerson and hasn’t been evaluated as an interior O-Linemen
BroncoBornBroncoBred
Mase does your wife wake you up in the middle of the night and say, “honey you were saying Joe burrow over and over again”
All kidding aside a question.
Are we getting ourselves into another Shaq Barrett situation with Malik reed? He is obviously showing that he is deserving to be a starter in this league, but we all know Von and Bradley will be the starters. It’s probably likely that Malik will want his share of playing time, but it might get difficult next year. How do you guys see this working out?
BroncoBornBroncoBred
Also I have to say it scares the sh*t out of me that you went to mizou and you’re not bought in on Drew being the future. Hopefully it works out. But hey at least you probably share my hate for Tom Herman from his D-bag antics like the ones on the sideline against Mizz

Suddenly our depth at corner isn’t looking so atrocious after all with players like Dawson and Harris (27) stepping up. I’m particularly impressed with Harris, he played like a man with his hair on fire and other than his missed tackle (which was big but didn’t cost us the game in the long run) he had a great game. I think you guys may have touched on this a bit last pod but do you think these players stepping up is a testament to Vangios scheme or a product of excellent scouting? Or maybe a combination of both? I missed the deadline on the last couple of pods so I made sure to get this one in real early.
Keep Killin it fam and happy bye week to you.

Mase it feels like you hate Drew Lock…
you mentioned his accuracy issues at Mizzou and how that scares you but Josh Allen has them and he’s clearly doing a decent job. Not to mention the weapons we have are CONSIDERABLY better than Buffalo! I believe you’re so enthralled by Joey Burrow that you don’t want to see the light that could be Drew Lock! Anyways I do agree he’s the guy in this draft if we do find Drew isn’t it. Also every comment I post from now until the draft will end to the tone of “BRING CEEDEE TO DENVER” I would have quite the “Chubb” if this somehow happened lol!
Keep up the great work fellas and I’m glad that we finally have hope for the future again!!
Lovethunderdownunder
Im not convinced by the “we must go for a QB” next year and the idea of trading the farm to trade up for “the guy”. 3 first rounders to move up 10-15 spots for a QB?
What’s the precedent to suggest this works? And for every example you find where it was positive – what about “the grave yard” – how many times did that move fail?
If you have more to learn from Drew, and you do, even with 6 games under his belt (which isn’t happening). So he is an unknown – as are the QBs in the draft. You’re trading uncertainty for uncertainty, and in the process giving up incredible depth and value.
Are you so sure that Joe Burrows is better than Drew Lock plus a 1st Round Tackle, future 1st Round Guard, 1st future Round DT? Not to mention the 2nds you’d have to throw in!!!I find that highly unlikely. Highly, highly unlikely.
Probabilistically – I find it very hard to believe. So where is the evidence to suggest this is an intelligent, long term move?

Mase,
Your explanation of things is priceless. Garrett Bolles, well because Garret Bolles. Truer words have never been spoken.
How many QB’s in recent history (2010 on) have come in and immediately started and have turned the team around? Only one I can think of is Luck. With that being said I don’t think Lock needs to sit any more years and I want to see him out there but why are teams wasting years of cost control QB play? Is it just that they don’t make ’em like they used to?
Who is a “serviceable” LT that we could get relatively cheap in free agency? I think drafting Tyler Biadasz is the best move. (insert LT here), Risner, Biadasz, McGovern, James on paper is a decent line to me.
Killer content and please keep me from going crazy on this by week!

I know we do not trust PFF as our end all be all when it comes to grading players.
However, can we just feel really freaking good for Alexander Johnson!!!
A bright spot on a dim season!

Guys hate to ask this question, but this popped in my head because I absolutely loved jackson ,murray, and now Hurst coming out of college. But when was the last time the broncos had a black qb on the roster let alone a starter in recent history? Anything into this or jus a coincidence.
TrueChampFan24
The Broncos had the first black QB to start in the NFL if i remember correctly.. I cannot remember his name, and i am to lazy to google at the moment.

Dear Ryan, Andrew, & Young Zachariah,
I’m a brand new subscriber from a jungle made of concrete where big apples hang dangerously from iron scaffolding fixed millions of inches above the streets. You guessed it—I hail from New York City. I’m an arbitrary lifelong Broncos enthusiast.
My mother found it strange how, upon scooping me into her arms at birth, coursing through my veins were blue and orange rivulets of blood. I was fated to be an impassioned brethren of Broncos Country, and in a season that has brought me great strife, you my furry friends—and peach fuzz Zachariah—have lifted my spirits to heights that surpass the tallest tip of my city. It’s quite a tall city, after all, which is to say I enjoy your podcast.
Now that we’re properly acquainted—I don’t think it’s a stretch to presume best friends—here is my question: Is it in the realm of possibility to theorize that John Elway is keeping Drew Lock off the field in order to maintain his trade value? Elway never imagined he’d have a shot at one of 2019’s stellar QB prospects. (Probably thought he’d be drafting from the 32 spot—LOL!) But now that he does…could Elway be triple beam schemin’?!
Like Andrew and glabrous Zach, I wishfully hope that Drew’s the guy. But, like poppa smurf Mase, I can’t shake what my eyeballs see, that Drew—while athletic, spunky as a tomboy, and possessing a throwing arm as brash as his will—just simply isn’t accurate enough. And not for nothin’, in the pocket the dude has happier feet than a cartoon penguin. I attended the Hall of Fame game this preseason and, boy, did he suck. Rooting for him, though.
PS — Is Drew Lock not just a less douchey Jay Cutler?! I only hope my fears are unfounded.
Your brother in arms,

Man it’s been awhile since I’ve commented. So with that being I have 75 questions. Jk just two.
Can you see a situation where James comes back for his RT spot. Wilkinson takes over the LT spot and they move Bolles to RG where he might be better suited as his last stand to determine if he will be cut after this year?
What are your top 3 power rankings with QB for the broncos coming into this off season. Mine would be Burrow, Tua, then lock.
TrueChampFan24
I always want to toss a “75” in at the end of my comments just to hear Mase yell lol

Hey guys new subscriber here!
It took me long enough to subscribe but as a broke college student, I’m willing to make the sacrifice for y’all especially using code Zac! I always love listening to you guys when I take the light rail home after a long day on campus in Denver. Besides that, I’m excited to join the DNVR family and looking forward to future content.
– As always Go Broncos!

Hey boys. I’ll ass u me after a 2 hour and 18 minute pod, you 3 are finished for the bye week? So after a few Breck brews and once again drinking the Broncs cool aid, I still have to predict Vikings 27, Broncs 24 in Minnesota. GO BRONCOS/ZOOMIES/DNVR/BRECK BREWS
dsrodish
Mase, I love you. You brought me over here from the team’s official site and even though I didn’t know I could use your code, I subscribed because of you. However, I CANNOT disagree with you more on Joe Burrow. Yes, Joe Burrow has looked great in this SPREAD style offense. Yes, it will be likely that the Broncos at some point in the future transition to a spread offense which would be perfect for Burrow. However, for the time being we run a pro style, west coast system. Burrow’s pro style system number are bad and he did not look like a pro quarterback. I’m sure you know all this but he threw under 60% of his passes with 16 touchdowns to 5 picks. This was also with one of the most talented teams in LSU. Drew Lock looked much better in a more pro style offense his senior year in college and also took solid positive steps each preseason game. But, if the Broncos do switch to a spread style offense then yes, Burrow would be a nice fit but wouldn’t Lock also be a great fit? He threw 44 touchdowns in a spread offense despite having an inferior team in Missouri. While his completion percentage was bad in 2017, a lot of that came from mechanical issues that he has improved on. I believe Drew is a better scheme fit now and has just as high of a ceiling as Burrow in a spread offense. Don’t fall for Burrow, get a great receiver or left tackle in round 1.
ManxBronco
I get accuracy being a concern for Lock but atleast it trended up through his 4 years at Mizzou. However, wasn’t he pretty much plagued by drops and injures at his skill positions?
ManxBronco
Also, Chargers to London, a potential Broncos game under an hour from me, great. However, I’d absolutely hate to have a franchise over here.

Hi guys!
Good work on the marathon pod. I’m just taking a look at the top 10 draft order in Tankathon. For me there’s only 2 teams in there taking QB’s (Bengals and Dolphins), so unless a team trades up ahead of them, Herbert will be there for the Broncos, whether they are picking 6th or 10th.
Best position we will pick will be 6th as there are 5 truly dreadful teams. I’ve now convinced myself that Elway will take Herbert, and I’m fully onboard with this. We need to finally nail down this position!
Would you be happy with a Herbert v Lock QB battle in 2020?
Cheers
Charlie

I was watching one of the morning sports talk shows the other day where Mark Schlereth said that Kyle Shanahan was not hired by Elway when he interviewed for the head coach job, not because of Elway, but because the trust did not want Kyle. Rumor was that Mike Shanahan was not brought back last season because of some beef with Ellis, but do you think that might have also been an issue with passing on Kyle? It would make more sense in the disastrous hiring of VJ when everyone and their grandmother could see that Kyle was the smarter hire. I was happy with the Fangio hire as I did not think any of these new Sean McVay wannabes were ready to be head coaches (including Kingsbury sorry RK). This team needs consistency and to be able to grow together, and I think this staff can grow with them and turn this franchise around, but they need to do it with Drew Lock.

I am currently a pod and a half behind, I know I know I’m a terrible person… all I want to say is I have a new text tone for my phone! Its Mase screaming “YEAAAAAAAH!” from a couple pods ago. That was magical and I thank you for that.

Is Megapod Alexander Johnson’s dinosaur name?
Orange and Blue all over
Would signing Justin Simmons reduce the value of signing CHJ?
You guys has said several times one huge advantage of signing CHJ is that even if he loses a step in his 30’s he could transition to being a good safety.
With Jackson and Simmons we really couldnt utilize a 3rd saftey though.
Thoughts?
Bronco Brawler
Hey guys, how has AJ Johnson not gotten more attention this season? He is the highest rated linebacker according to pff, even if Fant does bust (which I don’t think will happen) I’d still be fine with us giving up Bush because if we had him we likely wouldn’t have seen Johnson ball out this year. I ordered a Johnson jersey to replace my Sanders jersey and I’m extremely satisfied with that choice. So my question is do you guys think Denver struck gold with Johnson and got a pro bowl caliber player or do you think he will taper off in production in the coming years as teams start to get film on him? Thanks Zac, Mase, and maybe RK!
OnionTownLynx
Hey guys. Do you think you could see a Carson Wentz-Nick Foles situation playing out sometime qhen Drew Lock comes in and is obviously our guy and settles into the offense well. Then, a year or 2 into his career as a starter INJURY STRIKES and Brandon Allen is forced into the lineup where he dices up team after team and gets the Broncos last few wins to make the playoffs and wins a game (maybe 2). Then you have to choose Drew of course but you could trade allen away or keep him as the extremely safe backup QB. Could you see this taking place in Denver? Somehow i think if Lock is our guy then this is a strong pissibility. Thanks for the huge pod and have a great Wednesday!
OnionTownLynx
Sorry for the typos. Did NOT mean to type “pissibility”

Guys help me to understand the reasoning here. We have Lock on the roster in waiting. Everyone seemed to be pretty high on him last year and in the preseason. Now half way thru the 2019 season we are talking about which QB to draft in round 1? Why are we suddenly out on Lock? Do we have no intention of giving Lock a chance? What’s changed?
ATLBronco
Whats up guys! Any chance we exercise Gumball’s 5th year option for a backup role? No one wants to see him start, but could provide some depth overall for relatively cheap?
P.S. Was out in Colorado a few weeks ago and FINALLY had a Strawberry Sky. Damn good beer.

Resgning chris harris isn’t what the pats would do. Signing vets like not a rebuilding move. We want the cap space not a cb on the decline.

Mase naming every 2010 game is the craziest thing I’ve heard….well, ever.
I can’t remember why I just walked into the kitchen. Impressive. Most impressive.
