I noticed for the first time that Risner is calling back protections and info to Teddy and he smacks Cushenberry when it is time to hike the ball. Weird to me, but if Cush ain’t it, lets look for someone who can help establish protection so that even the check down guys like Teddy can stay upright to throw it at the ground.

Can’t believe the broncos defense completely shut down mahomes under 200 yards and his two little targets to under 30 yards of receiving yards , NO TDS as well ! If we had a Watson , Rodgers or a wilson we could’ve killed the chiefs. I woke up feeling good about this game and the offense disappointed.

Have we run anything resembling a trick play or a fake punt all year?

I may shock you, but I don’t want Rodgers, you stuff up the future when you go for short term. A drafted QB is potentially 15-20 years. I’ve hated this past 6 years of being crap. Get us a long term solution, not a short term one.

hey guys,

so, we’re all assuming the priority for the broncos is to obtain a veteran qb this offseason. that being said, rodgers and the steelers have been making googly-eyes at each other for a while now and in light of the big ben news, that seems like a potential pairing. there’s no guarantee that the seahawks move on from russ (over carroll) and there’s no guarantee that the broncos can acquire his services.

with all that in mind, what do y’all think about the broncos using the 2022 draft as a means to gain draft capital for the 2023. in this scenario, they trade down as much as possible and fortify the rest of the roster with whatever picks they have (o-line, edge rusher, defensive line etc) and then trade up in the 2023 class?

in this scenario, i guess they re-sign teddy and bring in someone else to compete with him in training camp. say, mitch trubisky or someone like that. maybe a mariota.

I’ll try to be as Concise as possible bare with me ….. During the bye week NFL social showed all of the broncos tds up to that point and it blew my mind to see that almost every last one of teddys tds are short of the sticks EVERY LAST ONE …. If it’s not a bomb (which are super rare ) he gets to the red zone gets the ball out and expects wrs or RBS to make a play ….. If that is what Vic and Shurmur we’re gonna settle for in a division that has the chiefs and chargers ? They had to know u needed to scheme up things to convert 3rd downs and score in the red zone because he is INCAPABLE OF THROWING PAST THE STICKS …..he’s like Derrick Zoolander who can’t turn Left ! …… Vic blew it hes by far a top 2 defensive mind and we want that mind for this defense for a long time but he’s going to fall on his sword behind this coaching staff and QB selection smh it’s a shame …… Andre Johnson is a first Ballot hall of famer in my opinion ….. But he didn’t score tds in the red zone because kubs had stuff drawn up to run it in !!! Smh …. Shurmur is incompetent and Vic has blown it in my opinion behind this coaching staff

So so much I want to say but I know you guys are pressed for time in season so I’ll try to keep it short. I do question Shurmur on a lot of things but I do think he was the least of the problems last night. The game flow was decent – a few questionable calls but most OC’s will have those. I think this is pretty much equally on Teddy and the O-Line. Teddy just doesn’t cut the ball loose down the field unless he KNOWS a guy will be wide open. He doesn’t have the arm or trust the arm to make the throws you need to on third down and in the red zone. Sure there are games where everything is clicking and we look competent on offense but he needs everything perfect to do well. And the O-Line’s pass blocking was garbage and it has been for much of the season. Teddy got hurried or flushed on several CRUCIAL plays where he would’ve had looks at some wide open guys. And no way in hell if I’m Shurmur would I call any type of double move or long developing play with that pass blocking O-Line. No damn way. It’s crystal clear that the two biggest needs on this team are a QB and to bolster this O Line, especially the interior.

You guys said everyone on offense was disappointing/let us down besides Javonte. I’m curious what guys like Jeudy, Tim Patrick, Meinerz, Boone etc. did wrong? Jeudy made some real good catches, took contact, fought for yards, Meinerz was clearing big holes, did he give up sacks? I just really thought there were other guys that played well besides Javonte, did I just miss some of the mistakes or bad plays these guys made that neutralize the good they did?

I think one thing we saw today was that we’re just outclassed and outcoached by the Chiefs, I actually thought for the most part Vic and Shurmur coached well, went for it on 4th, had mostly good plays drawn up, etc. – our roster just needs to be better (especially at QB)

What changed (by Broncos D or Chiefs O) did you see, if any, after the first two Chiefs drives? Looked like they were on their way to 40 points and then they kinda got shut down completely.

Hey guys, what a frustrating game, i don’t think this is on the offense because the rbs dod a great job, what can a oc do if you have a qb that is that bad, Teddy is not it, Drew is not it, the good thing you can say is that any qb who sees the performance of this team tonight says “i can take this team to the super bowl”
the defense and the running game were awesome, the wr are totally dependent on the qb, every time Teddy went deep to courtland his ball placement was bad he didn’t give him a chance to fight for a 50-50 ball.

To me this game was 90% on the qb and 10% on special teams.

Thank you for letting me vent, lol i love this community for giving us this space to do it

It seems like Minchew is a much better budget option than Bridgewater. He was what Bridgewater was supposed to be. A smart player that doesn’t turn the ball over.

Hey guys, hope you have all recovered from that loss. More than anything, that game showed me once again that we’re just a QB away. Yes there are other areas that can of course be improved, but if you stick Rodgers or Wilson in at QB then we’re winning that game.

So….based on what you’ve seen from the Broncos, let’s say that we can’t get Rodgers or Wilson, do you think Paton is far more likely to trade for a QB that he thinks can get us over the line (Cousins, Jimmy G, Matt Ryan) than he is to draft a QB? Or would he view these guys on a par with Teddy?

Also, do you think a trade for Tua could be a possibility? Assuming the Dolphins get Watson.

Cheers

Well that was disappointing. But there’s reason for hope.

It’s frustrating, that the offense let a golden opportunity to seize control of the division slip away, but it looks like the defense is starting to play consistently good to great defense.

Let’s assume a win over the Lions next week. Then we get the Bengals at home – they haven’t exactly been consistently good. The Raiders are now back to being the Raiders and you never know what can happen against the Chargers.

I know we are two games back in the division now, but is it so hard to see a scenario where the Chiefs come to town in week 18 in another battle for the divisions crown?

Chiefs remaining opponents: Bengals, Raiders, Chargers, Steelers, Broncos.

Thanks for the great work as always!

Well, as bad as yesterday looked, it’s to be expected and there is room to be excited for the future .I just want to beat the chiefs to close out the year. They are my most hated team in the division.

I was going to turn this comment into giant trash talk ofKC as a location (it sucks), it’s bbq is overrated, and Hill is horrible but I’ll save my vitriol.

Just further confirmation that we don’t have the horses needed offensively. Short of getting Wilson, I’d love to have Teddy to mentor a rookie next year. I think that could be his ideal role. He’s a consummate professional who I think tries his best, just not IT.

If Vic turns things around, more power to him but I’d like to see Bowles as HC next year. I could even be convinced to bring in Mike Zimmer. These aren’t attractive young offensive minds but they are competent and I think we need grown ups in the room, especially if we have a young QB.

Rookie HC + Rookie QB seems ill-advised. Especially in this QB class.

December 6, 2021

A couple of things;
1. Courtland Sutton is starting to concern me. Just about every week I see a play from him where he seems to be letting up early on a play and he’s far too often disappeared from games. I understand QB play hasn’t been great but for a #1 reciever that we expect to be a premier guy in this league he disappears far too often. Still a smart hedge by Paton to re-sign him at the value that we did, but I feel like we could be looking back in a couple years thinking maybe the value wasn’t as great as we hoped.

2. Is it just me or is Bradley Chubb just not THAT good? Great guy, great teammate, really good athlete, but ultimately he can’t stay healthy and when he is on the field, I’m not exactly sure I’d call him an impact player as he hasn’t been all that productive/disruptive since his rookie year. I hope we don’t overpay/overcommit to him based on his draft status/potential instead of the player he’s shown himself to be.

This Broncos offense just has no fight in it. I was hopeful for a surprise upset, and was feeling good about it all week and most of Sunday, then Broncos PR put out a short clip on Twitter of the team coming out of the tunnel, and you could tell the team was flat. There was no ra-ra or guys pumping each other up, they just walked out slowly. I knew right then that they were going to lose. The offense needs an emotional leader, and it should be the QB. Someone has to get the the team to play with the intensity that Javonte plays with. If all 11 guys played with that level of intensity, this would have been a very different ball game.

My boys!

Do you think we’re seeing Teddy play at his highest ability? I know that statistically he’s having his best season, but obviously stats don’t tell the whole story. Do you think that, if the Broncos bring in a new OC in the off-season, we could see Teddy take a big step in his actual play? Or do you think Pat Shurmer has been done a disservice by shackling him to Drew and Teddy? I want to blame Pat for bad play and bad play calling, but I don’t want to be unfair to him and give him undue blame.

Thanks for a fun environment last night! The bar was popping, as usual. God bless and go DNVR, the Broncos, all of Broncos country, and the ever elusive Iceman, wherever he may be.

Every time I think I’ve seen the worst offensive performance from the Broncos, they say “hold my beer”. The fact that Shurmur and McMahon still have jobs this morning blows my mind. If Fangio isn’t going to pull the trigger on the move, then George needs to step in and fire all three.

Disappointed, but not surprised.

My boys!

So obviously Pookie is a monster & he proved that last night. Marshawn Lynch 2.0 is what I see. I can’t even imagine the damage he’s going to do whenever we get a real QB and teams have to account for the pass too. That being said we need to go get our own Creed Humphrey. Cush just ain’t it. I’d love to get Tyler Linderbaum out of Iowa. Or maybe we try Risner at C?

This game felt like it magnified all of the weaknesses we’ve been talking about this season. Defense played out of its mind, but offense and special teams were so inept that, in the end, it didn’t matter. Teddy may be loved by all, but he clearly isn’t the answer at QB. Shurmer’s offensive scheme, in addition to being stuck in the early 2000’s, also seems to actively avoid playing to the strengths of it’s personnel. This offense has far too much talent to be this terrible. Luckily, I believe the Tim and Court extensions signal loud and clear the even if Fangio is here next year, Shurmer won’t be.

At least there’s a silver lining to all of this in George Paton and the moves he’s made. I have confidence in the future, but for now…I just want to beat the damn Chiefs.
