Mile High Till I Die

Mile High Till I Die

October 18, 2022

My boys.. a few quick pros and cons from last nights game.

1. Thank god The Belly is back because the rest of this offensive line is horrible. Obviously we don’t have draft capital so hopefully a big name lineman will be available in free agency this year.

2. Baron Browning is so god damn fun to watch. A few mishaps but a beast nonetheless.

3. This offense is tragic. I’m starting to think that Peyton Manning unintentionally cursed this team after he won the Super Bowl and it won’t be lifted until we draft Arch Manning with the first overall pick of the 2026 draft.

4. Why is this team so bad at taking advantage of other teams weaknesses? Our running backs had 75 yards against the worst run defense in the league.

5. Big Ups to Greg Dulcich for scoring a touchdown in his first NFL game. We need his beautiful, California vibes now more than ever.

6. Demari Mathis needs A LOT of time that he doesn’t have to figure his shit out. Trade Bradley Chubb for an equivalent talent at the cornerback position.

7. God bless DNVR for the post game coverage to help us all commiserate when vibes are this bad in Broncos Country. We all need something to listen to to make sense of the madness and help process all the bullshit. Membership worth more than its weight in gold.

My boys,

I was literally screaming in my car when Dulcich scored, I thought here it is, we are back!
But, it all went away, as for the next 2 weeks…..I can’t even think of what might happen! Cheers

hey guys,

so unfortunately it’s that time of year again where the broncos are in a position to be sellers at the trade deadline barring some miraculous turn-around. who do y’all think should be on the block and for what price?

Chubb is going away. He’d be a huge boon to a team that needs a pass rushing boost going into the playoffs, and he’s due for a new contract next season.

Hackett is awful. His decision making is pathetic. His players have no discipline. He’s just a jester with a headset for the NFL media to mock at this point.

Russel is a waste of 240 million. Hey Russ, they’re blitzing, again. Make a presnap read and have a hot route, my god. And there’s no doubt in my mind he knew the cameras were there for the halftime team clap last night. All about his brand, all the time.

And George Patton brought this whole mess together and left our future in ruin.

So our GM makes dumb decisions, our coach can’t do anything right and our QB is overpaid garbage. Buckle in boys, it’s gonna be a while before we’re back to happy times.

Well that sucked.
No. 1 on my blame game is the penalties which comes back to Hackett ultimately. Piss poor effort, execution, and discipline loses you games. If I see Jerry quit on one more route or contested catch I am officially out on him.
No. 2 is the pass protection which was bad, bad, bad. You can only put so much on Russ when he’s getting blasted 1.5 seconds after the snap.
No. 3 is what RK keeps talking about, the losing mindset. It’s a matter of approach/lack of confidence from the offense. It should start to turn around here soon but man until it does it’s pretty obvious.

I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time investing in this team to the same level I usually do. I am a diehard and even wore my Broncos hat to the gym this morning where they were showing the lowlights from the game last night! It’s still early in Russ’ tenure (and Hackett’s) but man is it deeply frustrating to feel in the short term like this team made some crazy moves all go to nowhere so far.

I am not a doom and gloom type of fan, but I had some thoughts after this game. It is going to be a tough sell to top-tier free agents to come play with this team this offseason. It’s also going to be a tough sell to our own free agents to take a hometown discount to come back to this team. There is a lot of season left to help change the narrative, but we need to turn the tides before it is too late, especially when we are looking towards the future.

Yes, I know its early to talk about next year and I am not giving up on this season, but just had a thought after the game last night.

We’ll go out and hire a good head coach in the offseason, and that will be our wedge to land free agent talent.

Russ said there is no division in the locker room but I find that hard to believe. You have the defense playing lights out almost all season and an offense that struggles to pick up first downs let alone score. The offense was supposed to be good enough to keep the pressure off the defense and instead they are putting all the pressure on the defense. Have you guys gotten the sense there are cracks starting to form between the offense and defense?

The Broncos offense is bad at football. I am playing “In the End” by Linkin Park on repeat. Please advise.

We always end up group singing “I want to know what love is” at the end of our losing seasons.

“In my life, there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now, I’ve traveled so far
To change this lonely life”

But maybe we go more “Final Countdown” at this point of the season? 🙂

I take comfort in three things at this point:

1) Russell Wilson has shown he is physically capable of doing the job. He is not washed. His arm is strong and he can still move when called for. With a better coach and offensive line, he’d be lighting things up.

2) Paton is very good at his job, aside from the hiring of Hackett. Even then, I can justify the gamble of hiring a young offensive mind and hoping for the best. If it had worked out, this team would be amazing right now.

3) We’ve got Walton money. We can fire Hackett and go get a good coach. We should not have a problem finding a coach that wants to come in and take over a team that has a viable quarterback, and a very good defense.

Wow guys, I was hoping that I’d feel better after waking up, but instead I feel worse.

1. It’s hard for me to blame any Offensive thing on Hackett after seeing replays and stills from the past couple weeks and how plays are actually working but the players (aka Russ) just are sucking at executing. Agree or disagree?

2. Damarri Mathis — what a freaking nightmare. It feels like he’s caused more problems than solutions the past two weeks. I know he’s a rookie, but good lord you’re a professional football player and you should probably look better than that. Fair take?

3. The shots of the sideline last night during OT seemed to me like Russ has, at least for the meantime, lost the locker room. All those late offseason trips and marketing schemes are all of a sudden looking pretty bad. It was great to see Justin Simmons back calling the sideline huddles to rally the team, though!

4. Shoutout to PS2, Alex Singleton, Greg Dulcich, and Baron freaking Browning. Holy hell, those guys have what the Broncos need.

*The Pain in my heart*

I am sad. I feel like Denver has settled into the bottom gutters of this league. We are the new jets.

I wish I wasnt so invested in this team man..

I hate it..

I hate all of it.

Russ’s contract is not a problem if we can use the top 10 pick we are going to get for a QB. Then we can deal Russ for a late round pick and move on. This D is too good to waste for 2023.

Maybe Chubb for a first round pick before the deadline and go get a QB.

I remember the ENTIRE fan base screaming for Dan Quinn, the lack of discipline and lack of accountability from the offense would not be happening. Or we had a former head coach in the building in Munchack that could have bridged the gap and steadied the ship until the new owners came in and built the team in their image. Hackett does not give me the impression he’s the guy, the locker room is about to fracture and his vibes will do nothing to stop it, this is Vance 2.0.

And Paton picked up where Elway left off in the relentless race to the bottom. I understand trading for Russ even though he sold out our draft this year and we are gifting Seattle a top pick, but selling the new owners’ money for seven years….he very well may have written his own ticket outta town with this.

I had to suffer through that game in person and to make it worse drive to the airport with my Chargers fan girlfriend, yes yes I know I have terrible taste in women! I want to punch Hackett just for taking away my ability to talk trash to my girl for the next week….SMDH

See you chaps in London…..I’ll be crying if anyone needs me!

Wide receivers aren’t running open when Russ is scrambling, and dropping balls left and right … and yet, our long-time WR coach Azzani is still here. Injuries are piling up, year after year, setting records for players on IR… and yet, our long time strength and conditioning coach Loren Landow is still here. No accountability. No self-awareness. What in the sam hell of all that is good and holy are we doing, for cryin out loud. Seriously.
