How do you feel about not going o-line much in the first 3 rounds? If we go one of the top 3 WR at 15 then go RB in the second and Viska happens to be there in the third or we go defense are you happy without any o-line help?

I’m also wondering if the Broncos should push for Brandon Scherff I haven’t heard his name or know much about him but if we can keep McGovern and get James healthy I feel pretty good about the o-line for this year. The only thing I’m really worried about is LT which is big thoughts? Any other free agents options we can look at?

Lastly is there any scenario where we could package a few picks that doesn’t include a 1 and get CMac? Or even our first for next year? I don’t want to give up 15 but I also think if they trade 15 for him they could move back into the late 1st.

Hey guys, with the newest addition at CB it seems that once healthy, we might have a better CB group than last year. What position group do you predict will be better, same or worse than last year? Is there really a scenario where we improve in all of them?
Sending much love to you guys, especially to Zac with the family situation!

Hey DNVR fam, how goes life? My fiancé and I are planning a weekend trip to Denver in July. So far a Mile High Stadium tour and a Rockies game against Mase’s Braves is what we have planned. We’re both opposed to tourist attractions, so what non-touristy things do you recommend with a couple nights in Denver? Don’t worry, Beau Jo’s is definitely on the list. Gotta get some honey spoons while I can.

To clarify my last comment on why my favorite part of the Bouye trade was that nobody predicted it. This was more from a place of personal amusement and a more general benefit to the team rather than to this particular trade. I like that Elway still has a few tricks up his sleeve in regards to obtaining players in the offseason that can fly under the radar long enough to keep competition guessing. This should help Elway get who He’s looking for in the draft as well as free agency. Let me know if you disagree.

Anyhow I’m really hoping we make a move for Prince still. That secondary sound legendary.

Quick question for the other side of the ball. I thought Tim Patrick and Hamilton showed improvement with Drew at QB, do either of them have a chance of being around past their existing deals, especially with the talent we’re likely to bag in the draft. I’m rooting for these guys but not so much that I want Elway to hold anything back this off season. But I’m curious if these guys can be great.

I have spoken.. MileHighMike

Hey guys!

First-time comments from a long-time listener / subscriber.

First and foremost, the DNVR subscription is such an incredible value (got ’em!)…and I am so impressed that you never rest on your laurels. I am psyched to see what is coming on March 13th as per RK’s Twitter.

Allow me to join the chorus of voices singing your praises…the insightful commentary, chemistry, creativity, and humility are truly UNIQUE in the sports podcast/broadcast universe. Kudos, gentlemen.

Quick note about yours truly — I am a Colorado native who was 8 years old when Elway was a rookie (Mase – I was born in 19″75″!) — but I also watched my beloved Buffs during the “Original Rise” culminating in 1990’s domination while I was doing keg stands in Boulder. So as disturbing as the imagery may be, I bleed both orange-and-blue and black-and-gold. I think that means I have blood the color of a BB Vanilla Porter? Enjoy the imagery. Then enjoy a cold brew.

Hooray for BOY-YAY. Keep the free agents comin’ on defense…

Keep crushing it,
TheFunkyJuggernaut

P.S. Mase – I live in Colorado Springs and heard on the podcast you were heading this way at some point later this week I believe — feel free to reach out if I can buy you a bevvy – no pressure.

Howdy Gents,

Greetings from the western side of our great state. The Mountain bike trails over in Grand Junction/Fruita are in prime condition right now!
Anyway, couple comments or questions for you …
1. What would you prefer; that the Broncos walk back their decision to let Bausby go and sign him for 1 year, 3 mill -or- someone like Prince for 6 mill? Pro and cons of each?

2. I heard one of you say recently that we might be needing a CYA or veteran WR in the mix this season and I LOVE the idea of bringing back D.T! Maybe it’s my heart talking louder than my head, but I think he could really bring that veteran leadership to that room and would get to retire as a Bronco. Plus I’d imagine he’d be fairly affordable at this point and probably still has a bit left in the tank. Thoughts on this?

Thanks again for the great content! If y’all ever wanna come over to this side of the mountain to ride some bikes, or maybe an on location pod? Hit me up!

Go Broncos!

To answer your question yes Mase at the Dallas Renegades game they did play Renegade by Styx but it took them until the 4th quarter to play it but they did it nonetheless! It was in the high 60’s and windy so it was a great activity to do on a weekend down here. I do agree that I think the season should start around April as opposed to February and I hope that’s a move they make in the future.

Also I get where you’re coming from when it comes to the stadium discussion but our MLS stadium is way on the other side of the metroplex and Dallas really likes Arlington as its home for sports considering the Rangers and Cowboys play there and the original Globe Life needs to see some use.

March 4, 2020

I am so hyped for Bouye!! Once again the Jags jag and give away really good players for peanuts. They are the Rockies of the MLB essentially a farm team for the rest of the league lol I’m a Rockies fan but that’s honestly what we are right now. Only thing that would bring me down is CHJ going to KC or Dallas #curseofzane

Hey friends. Definately want Brett to get a real chance @ the backup roster slot and for Devontae to be resigned. I’m surprised he has been on the 53 for all 4 years and with a new rushing scheme, I’m not sure why you guys don’t think he could make the draft pick spent worthwhile? Luv another A.J. on the 53! Alright fella’s,

Gutted it’s looking like the end of the Broncos and CHJ but that’s largely down to him.

Why would you say we’re in the market for a running back? Is it purely we need better than Freeman? or are we looking for something to add to Freeman and Phil.

Also, with the announcement in the works that the Broncos are coming to London, there’s a vicious rumour going around (Okay, I’m starting it) but your cases are going to be filled with Strawberry Sky for us.

Hey guys!

RK, I tried makinga recipe off the top of my head that’s keto friendly, and thought of you. Fry a pile of cheese in a skillet until it fully melts and bubbles. Add beef and beans on half, and fold ala omelet. Finish cooking on each side to seal it up, then wrap in a paper towel to cool and degrease. They turned out great! I’m just struggling with a name, if it’s not a thing already. The best I’ve got is a beef and bean cheese empanada. Any better ideas? I also put my in-laws’ homemade salsa on top, which really made it pop.

With the excitement about Bouye, are you guys content with the secondary? It seems like in the hollabaloo, were rabid for more trades/free agent signings; and Yiadom, Davontae Harris, Trey Marshall, etc are completely forgotten about. They stepped up big last year. Do we really need another free agent? Or do you draft a couple CBs/safeties for depth and call it good enough?

Hey fellas

Just got my new DNVR skyline shirt for subscribing and all the hype about their comfort is 100% real. Damn fine shirt

For a dumb microwave story, when in college I had one of those ramen bowls that you just fill with water and put the ramen in. Well after a night out I decide no better time for ramen then 2 in the morning. Well in my hunger, talking with a roommate, and possibly one too many drinks in me I forgot to put water in the bowl. The smell of burnt ramen and plastic quickly filled the kitchen and needless to say that remained an on going joke in my house for the next 3 years and to this day I still get made fun of. Rightfully so I suppose. Anyway, thinking of Zac and his family and hope all is well.

Hey guys, coming to you live from the Sattelite Broncos think tank headquarters here in Hampton, Virginia. I’m proud to announce that I figured it out… I figured out a way for the broncos to be in the Super Bowl within two years max. So without further do let’s get down to it. First, free agency. My plan is to resign Simmons, Elijah Wilkinson and Devonte’ Bausby. EW 2.67mil DB: 1.87 mil JS: 14.2mil. I’ll let wolfe, Shelby, and Chris walk. Then I’m going to sign Arik armstead (for approximately 17mil), DJ reader (for 12), and trade my fourth round pick for Darius slay and sign him to a three-year 42 million dollar deal……. we’ll shit, just as I’m typing this my brother texts me and says we got bouye… on second thought he will More than suffice! Anyway in the draft I’ll trade up to 11 or 12 giving up a late 3rd and 6th. I’ll grab Either jeudy or wirfs and flip flop in the second Round by grabbing the best tackle available (Jones, PTW, Jackson, Niang) or tee Higgins/she nails/raegor depending on the 1st round move. Next I combine the two thirds and move back in to the second Round for the 2nd year in a row to grab Tyler biadsz just to appease mase. But seriously Guys we’re talking about a potential line up of (jeudy, Sutton, Lindsay, fant, biadsz, risner, Wilkinson, josh Jones, juwaan james on O. And AJ bouye, bausby, calahan, reader, armstead, Chubb, Von, Kareem, and Simmons)

4 words.. SUPER BOWL READY NOW

Assuming Bouye demands 13.5 mil a year. That will be an off-season expenditure of 61.5mil leaving 20mil to sign the small draft class and other necessary depth pieces.

So I hope u guys can help out with this, I read an article yesterday that said out of the 70 million in cap space Denver has 26 mill of it is going to Vons option. And another 13.5 to aj buoye, does this mean Denver only has 30 mill in cap to sign, DL, OL, LB, CB, and another possible RB, plus all the draft picks??
If so I’ve been looking at this cap situation all wrong and we actually don’t have that much money.

Hello Gentlemen,

I didn’t get a chance to comment on yesterday’s pod but I wanted throw out my biggest grammar/spelling pet-peeve.

Being an English teacher I have a lot, but the one that bothers me the most is when people say “unthaw” when they just mean thaw…

First off, unthaw is not an actual word and second, it LITERALLY means the opposite of what they are trying to say.

Being born and raised in Alaska, people said it a lot and I (not literally) died a little bit inside every time.

That’s all for today, keep up the great coverage and I hope you are having a great week.

P.S. Zach, thoughts and prayers to your family.

Guys, one quick personal favor to ask and a football question for your time in Indy.

I’m flying home for the weekend so if you could go ahead and order some awesome weather while I’m there it would be truly appreciated? NC has been rainy and dreary all week and I need some Colorado sun in my life.

Football time, I saw Bouye’s quote about how his key reasons for requesting Denver in the trade were scheme and Lock. A few articles this morning even captured that and deemed it the first documented case of Drew bringing talent to the roster. I also read that football coaches and execs around the league took notice of Drew’s potential after the Houston game. What did you guys hear at the combine with regards to other team’s opinions of what we found in Drew?

Love y’all,
Danimal

Darn u RYAN !!! I was trynna calm down my CHJ frustrations and show my ChJ ?? but man you made some Valid points ….. Players on their third contract need to speak to what they value …..Winning vs the bag ……. Basically because of salary cap, unless your a qb……???? bro its not gonna happen !!! Darelle Revis Robbed the jets back in 2015 based on return on investment he gave them with what they paid him and im almost certain someone got fired because of it …..Derek Wolfe i like a lot but wolfe dude ?? YOU HAVE NOT BEEN HEALTHY FOR ONE SINGLE SEASON OF UR CONTRACT!!! ….. Long as wolfe is getting more then 5 million its fair….. Like th steelers downfall after their superbowl win that led to the Broncos Ascension in the Afc in my opinion was due to that defense was getting so old and the steelers had so much money tied into it …… It took a lotta drafting to get their defense formidable again…… I appreciate and love all of them but bro either you with us or u gotta move on stop with the narratives like your being wronged??? Its just not realistic ?? I agree with you Ryan Vons leadership to relenquish leadership to Drew, Courtland, etc soeaks values i hooe he shows it with actions because lets be honest we have to restructure vons contract after this year have to !!!! If were one piece away that we can find in free agency in 2021 we need to free cap.soace from that contract and in 2 years if everything goes correctly chubb and courtland are going to be ridiculously expensive and in 3 years ??? 45% of our cap will be tied up in Drew, Courtland ,and chubb ….. we have to get these older contracts off the books by then…… Anyways my only question today is …. I book my flight and room tommorow PLEASE TELL ME U GUYS WILL BE IN VEGAS FOR THE DRAFT ??? ….. It be dope to say screw the draft meet you and some bronco fans at a bar and eatch the draft ??? Because i honestly don’t really wanna go to the draft but i do wanna go to vegas and celebrate with broncos country as we build the team that will win superbowl 56 , or 57 …….or both ?

If the draft falls this way and one of either Andrew Thomas or Becton are there for tackles at 15 and only Ceedee Lamb is there for the top tier of WR’s what do you think the Broncos move is? Take tackle and move of from Bolles or go with Lamb who isn’t necessarily the speed element WR they have been needing but is still a great weapon for the offense? Or trade back.

When I was younger(probably around 11 or 12), I learned that their was something called hot milk. With my big brain kid skills, I took my mom’s tea pot, filled it with milk and began to heat it up. After the steam started coming out, so did the milk, literally spilling all over the oven top, while my mom rushed in to stop it from ruining more of her oven. Safe to say, I learned my lesson lol.

Guys,
1. I like the trade, I don’t think it’s a homerun but solid. Still would like to keep Bausby and go after another one. It gets frustrating that we haven’t been able to develop some top corners.
2. It feels like my dream of having a formidable interior pass push is dwindling. Thoughts?
3. I really hope they don’t go out and throw away money on a free agent running back. It generally seems to backfire when teams do it or give big deals after rookie deals.
4. Is there a surprise first round pick coming our way again this year? Last year we thought it was a given they were going backer or oline but we came away with a tight end. This year we feel it’s a given it will be reciever or oline. Thoughts? And who?
5. Mase, after the senior bowl and combine, what are your thoughts on Logan Wilson? Not necessarily for the Broncos but in a general sense.
6. Is the possibility of Shenault falling a dream scenario for the Broncos if they can get him at the back end of rd 2?
7. Do you think Lamb, Juedy, and Ruggs are a 1 a,b, and c type scenario? Meaning that if any of them are there at 15 we take them?
8. We miss you Zac.
Thanks as always guys!

LT Jason Peters and the Eagles are ‘mutually parting ways’ this year. His cap hit last year looked to be about $8.5 million. Is he a viable option for Denver for 1-2 years? Or is it more valuable to have a young 1st-3rd round tackle on the roster to be coached under Munchak rather than aging Pro-Bowler past his prime?

Hey Guys,
I hope I’m not too late to comment. Hopefully you haven’t covered this. But my worst nightmare seems to be coming true. I’ve been telling friends that the Chiefs future hangs on whether Mahomes will be a money hungry guy or pulling a Brady making his contract more beneficial for the team than for himself. Well in an interview with Yahoo Sports that I am reading now it looks like his plan is to take less money for the opportunity of a better team overall. It makes me like Mahomes more but still hate the Chiefs. Most my friends don’t understand how I can have that POV. Anyway, a future rivalry of Drew Lockyear and Patrick Zurghomes is something I could look forward to for years to come.
To Drewfinity and Belock!
Kepp up the great work fellas.

First off I’m just glad somebody understood my Parks and Rec reference from yesterday. I was kind of sweating that for a minute.

I’ve seen some other people ask about Jason Peters already in the comment section so I’ll just ask what are some off the radar moves you would make to upgrade the O-Line through FA or trades? Anything goes on this.

I am hoping that I am able to squeeze this in before you finish up. I have been looking at the NFL network draft predictions and I keep seeing them think that there is a need for safety. Is there anything to truly warrant this? I feel that if Simmons was to go off the deep and insist on leaving we would at least sign Parks. Simmons isn’t going anywhere so why so much insistence on the safety position.

One situation that I liked was that Denver moved up ahead of the Raiders to draft their #1 WR, thoughts?

I also saw in a few drafts that teams made a run on the CB position throughout the first couple rounds. Do any of you think that this could be a possibility?

Lastly I saw a draft by Cynthia something from NFL, had Burrow falling all the way to the Dolphins as the first QB off the board at 5 . I feel that this is very unrealistic because teams would be excited to jump up to snatch him if he falls a few picks. Then Tua to the Chargers at 6.

Lots of stuff to go through but hope you get a chance to talk smack on the NFL Network reporters. I always feel that they just put ridiculous perspectives out there just to get some buzz.

Thanks as always

Short-time listener, first-time comment. I just had to get in on the action.

I’ve never had a bad microwave experience, but microwave eggs have changed my life for the better. Stir up a couple eggs in a bowl, throw some frozen sausage and cheese in there and then nuke it for a minute. Would be interested to hear about more microwave hacks from the Broncos faithful.

On another note, it has come to my attention that DNVR provides coverage for both Colorado State and UC Boulder… but no love for the Bolt Brotherhood from the small state school in the Springs. Any news on covering Air Force College Football? Would love to see DNVR corner the market on Air Force sports, seeing as I can’t find good reporting on them anywhere. They are, after all, the best football team in the state of Colorado as of this past season. Let me know. I’ll buy all the shirts.

Can you guys explain what it means when someone says Fangios defense is “cornerback friendly”? I understand it’s more zone and they can just watch and make plays on the ball instead of having to lockdown a guy in man. But don’t a lot of teams run mainly zone? How is Fangios defense any different? Thanks guys!
