I never root for a better draft pick. Lock is THE GUY, Laviska in the draft. Go Broncos and screw the raiders!

Hey friends. Good to hear R.K., I can’t believe how much I missed Mase, aka Mr. Downer. 🙂 Time to say how much I’ve missed Allie & Lyndsey during this lost season! Ryan said no mentions, so there were none. GO BRONCOS/ANDREW/FALCONS

No question just wanted to say thanks for what you guys do. I started listening last year right in the middle of the toughest couple of seasons I have ever had a broncos fan. But just to hear you guys on a daily basis makes it a little more bearable. Now the future is looking bright and we finally have a qb that I can get behind I don’t know if he is the man but I think it’s gonna be fun finding out. Hopefully I will be able to meet you guys next year at the tailgate I’m gonna try real hard to make it mile high for my pilgrammage from PA. So thank you for everything and keep pitching the ads I am a big Breck brew guy because of you.

Fellas, first off thank you for such incredible coverage all season long. I look forward to the offseason coverage as I am very optimistic about the direction of this team! Two quick questions…when Joe Ellis referenced the last time the Broncos went to play internationally and said there were, “shenanigans”, what was he referring to?
And what are your super bowl predictions? Teams, score, and mvp. I’m going Saints v Ravens, Ravens winning 45-31, Lamar MVP

Yo RK, yo Big Zach, yo Mase, long time first time here. My Broncos journey with you guys has spanned 1 year finally, 1 year and 1 week to be exact, because I was at the Broncos-Raiders game at the Coliseum Christmas Eve 2018. I think we all know the sad result of that game so I’m not going to get into it. But I’ve been paying attention to the Broncos draft since 2017, and so 2018 rolling around, the class that Elway put together had me enthralled and hopeful. A season later, I am all aboard the DNVR Broncos hype train and the Broncos hype train in general. I love the draft, just because you see guys go in rounds 1, 2, 3, even 4 and 5 that you could watch later that year go make a play on the field. As a Californian who’d like to punch a one-way ticket to Colorado, I am ALL ABOARD Laviska at 15. I wanted to comment a long time ago, during your season predictions, but I held off because I wanted to see how the Broncos would do through their season. I listened to most of the pods through the season, and at least 45 minutes of every post game pod. I didn’t know much about Mase before he joined, but I’m so glad a revered member in the Broncos beat joined DNVR. As indicated by my name, I am a huge Avs fan, and the DNVR Sports pod has gotten me in tune with all 4 major Denver sports, so I’m branching out significantly in 2020. Sorry for the long winded intro, they won’t all be like this. For a couple of questions to wrap up my comment, why can’t/shouldn’t the Broncos say “F it”, and take Laviska at 15? I just heard Ryan mention the only downside being some injuries, but, sounds like healthy Laviska would perfectly compliment Sutton, Fant, and Hamilton, or whoever they have to more accurately compliment Sutton-Fant-Laviska. I would also like to state for the record, I’m very much down with picking Jerry Jeudy too, but there is a mock floating around that has the Broncos taking Tee Higgins I believe is his name, at 15 overall. Is he a viable candidate as well? I promise this is the last question here, if Broncos fans make enough noise pounding the table for Laviska as the Buff turned Bronco, will that noise make it back to John Elway and the scouting staff? Thanks again guys, sorry that this comment was huge, I promise I won’t wait another year for you guys to hear from me again, I really can’t tell you how much I love your guys work and what you’re doing at DNVR, and I want to come out to a Broncos game and DNVR tailgate or DNVR Broncos watch party in 2020. Love you guys, keep up the great work, -Spencer.

Hopefully Ryan is on today so he can appreciate this to the full, I saw today that young Jeezy actually saw the video of drew rapping his song and tweeted about it saying” I know the feeling… Thug Motivation ⛄️#keepfrinding” thought that was awesome to see. If u guys have time could you give us your dream off-season; ie 2 free agents and top 2 draft picks? Love the pod and the fam keep it up

Hey guys, have been super busy lately and haven’t been able to listen so hopefully this comment hasn’t been brought up.

Last night I woke up at 2 and couldn’t fall back to sleep and my mind was all over the place. I thought about what ifs for this season and came up with this scenario.

What if the Denver defense never blows the leads against Chicago, Jacksonville, and Indy? Three very believable outcomes. Flacco still sits the 3 games because of his neck injury then comes back healthy after the bye week to lead a 7-5 team. Drew Lock is never activated off IR because Allen shows enough to be the back up the rest of the season. Flacco leads an uninspired team to a 8-7 record losing to LA and KC but pulls out a close one against Detroit. Needing a win against Oakland to get into the playoffs, with the tiebreaker over Tennessee, Flacco loses a close game and the Broncos barely miss the playoffs. However there is optimism in the building as we were “so close.” John keeps Joe for another year, Drew’s growth is stunted for many more months and maybe to save cap space Von is let go. We probably have another 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 type season next year with Flacco leading the way.

With the decade about to end I want to say I am very grateful the team blew those leads and we are able to start the next decade with a bright future.

Thanks for all the coverage guys. Great pod and can’t wait for the off-season coverage.

To shed some light on how KC fans feel about Lock: one of my best friends from high school is from KC and is a Chiefs fan. Whenever I bring up Lock, he will neither acknowledge him or write him off. All he keeps saying is “he’s from KC”
Sounds like he knows Drew will be a problem and is in denial about it.

Thank you all for a great season, I love being a part of the community and it’s such a great feeling to have hope once again! Rebellions are built on hope, dangit.

Quick shout out to the 80 members that participated in the fantasy football leagues, it was a fun season! Plenty of lessons learned for next year… like, not having a 20-team league. A special recognition to Derek who donated his winnings to Shield 616! Denver-area first responders are better protected because of this community. I’m proud to be a part.

I’d like all three of you to answer, but very very interested in Mase’s response – yes or no, is Drew Lock the starter in 2021? (A year after next season). Mase, answer has to be yes or no, you can’t start with “If he continues to develop….” or “unless something drastic happens,…” If you had to pick one answer, is it yes or no? (I think yes!)

Happy New Year to all of you and your families and we’ll see you in 2020.

Last in relevance but first in your hearts….

1) Mase, our guy James Bradberry played a pretty good game against Michael Thomas, outside of some ticky-tack penalties. Definitely want to see him in orange and blue next year, but unfortunately, we’ll be competing with Washington now that Rivera is likely the HC and Dan Snyder is known to throw money at anyone he wants to!

2) Also, did y’all hear that Anthony Castonzo said that retirement is an option for him this offseason? Maybe a leverage tool to get some money out of the Colts, but an already thin free agent OT class has lost it’s only great player. Guess we’re rolling with Bolles in 2020!

3) Mr B

4) What did y’all make of these comments that Elway gave to Mike Klis yesterday?

‘And for us to be able to compete with the Chiefs, we’re going to have to outscore ‘em’

‘That’s going to be priority No. 1 for us, figuring out a way to be more explosive, score more points and that process is going to start rather soon.’’

‘….But in order to score points we’ve got to get weapons. We’re going to be looking. Wide receiver is a spot we need’

Gotta imagine that we can almost Sharpie Ruggs (assuming he’s there at 15) or Reagor/Hamler in a trade down/trade back into the 1st scenario?

5) Elway also mentioned in that interview that running back is something they want to address- and pretty much hinted that Royce is someone they want to upgrade. I saw a report from a Bucs guy saying that they want to acquire draft picks for a potential trade up, so they’re open to moving players for draft capital.

The Broncos were very interested in Ronald Jones in 2018. Jones was compared frequently to Jamaal Charles in the pre-draft process and he definitely has more juice than Royce so why not throw a Day 3 pick at the Bucs for him.

Hey guys,

Mase what’s with the Lock hate? He has played so well minus the KC game. Which I honestly was furious about. However besides that what’s the deal with John? I listened to KOA about him worrying about Lock getting knocked down when adversity happens. This guy has battle adversity already. Imagine the emotional melt down Paxton would have had in that KC game. It’s hard express what Lock has but it’s special.
Also LOVED seeing Lindsey wearing a DNVR shirt. Even called out a location station who cropped out the shirt.

This community just keeps on growing and total worth the money.

Have a great New Year!

December 31, 2019

Mase. Looking at THIS game specifically, I don’t know how you can’t be confident with Drew being THE guy. He was working with a right side of the line that was very weak; we saw running backs getting hit behind the line of scrimmage.
Kudos to Phil for hitting the 1,000 mark again btw.
Drew’s accuracy, charisma, poise, and ability to move in and around the pocket have been better than anyone could’ve hoped.
It honestly feels like you’ve been more positive with your Jameis Winston comments! Yikes dude.
I understand there are more steps for Lock to take to be the guy for a decade. But I don’t know how anybody can go into this off-season not feeling extremely positive about the future of the QB position.
Ryan and Zac- totally agree with your assessment, WR round 1. Let’s go baby!!!

If Tom McMahon is still on our staff I’m reinculcating my shoe-beer drinking regiment. What blackmail does this guy have on john or Vic? I hope an “opportunity” arises for him elsewhere because personally I’d like to have a quality punter in the building. And, as much of an improvement as Spencer was at returning, he’s not the special weapon that we deserve. How does this get solved?

COME ON MASE!!! He’s balling. Best rookie start by a Broncos in HISTORY.

At this point I’m convinced if Drew Lock cured cancer himself Mase would be like “yeah but it took a long time and idk if this is even the best way it could of been handled better” ?. I’m busting your chops Mase much love man but come on…

Anyways.
Word around the block is that Drew Lock is going to be training with PFM this offseason.
Any info on this?
Also hearing a rumor that the Broncos are going to throw money at Joe Schobert. Him, AJ, Kareem and Simmons handling the middle would be scary ??

Going to be getting a Lock jersey to add to the arsenal.
I know it’s only 5 games but I just can’t help it. Drew lock will take us to the promise land. Could be 2 years could be 10. But he is the guy. If we can get that Vangio D that was in Chicago and lead the league in turnovers we could be unstoppable.

This has been a really encouraging ending to the year and start to Lock’s career. It’s a bit early for me to be able to say with certainty he’s a 10-20 year franchise qb but I think the odds are pretty good.

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents on the argument that people aren’t sure he can go toe to toe with mahomes. I think people are forgetting That at this point In mahomes career we had no reason to think he would be who he is. He had only played one meaningless game where he looked decent but not like a sure fire mvp.

Also Mahomes stepped into a team that was 42-22 the past 4 years with Alex smith where Smith was able to throw 26 tds to 5 picks the year before. Meanwhile Lock stepped into a 23-36 team over 4 seasons where his qbs this year had 9 tds and 7 picks. To say that because lock wasn’t as dominant in his first 5 games as mahomes is not only unfair since mahomes is potentially a generational guy, but it’s not a comparable situation either.

I think locks performed admirably to this point and think that we need to give him at least a year before judging if he can help us compete with the chiefs. Sorry for the long comment and go Broncos.

I know I am in the minority, but I do not think that Mahome’s is a proven QB until he proves he can do it without all those weapons and a genius play caller. I think we are so fast to anoint players before they arrive. You guys act like he is already in the conversation with Brady, Manning and Elway. Give me a break! Put any QB in that same situation and tehy will have a lot of success, Case-in-point Alex Smith. Let Patrick prove it when he gets paid and actually carries a team through the playoffs. Until then, I refuse to join the majority in claiming he is so great. It’s the social media/fast food society that wants to crown people much sooner than they deserve.

That’s pretty good! When I think of “legitimate” I think 4th quarter comebacks, playoff road wins, super bowl MVP….what has he done beside put up numbers? I seem to remember a sub 60% completion percentage on the playoffs and an OT loss to the patiorts at home. Not saying he isn’t great, but can we let him do something before we join the national media in crowning the man?

What’s truly odd about Elway’s “no options” comment is that it’s a much more lukewarm endorsement than Elway gave Tebow. Elway hated Tebow, yet at the end of the season press conference in 2011, Elway said unequivocally that the team was going forward with Tebow as the starter. It never came to be because of the unforeseen Manning acquisition, but Elway nevertheless declared flat out that the team was going forward with Tebow. By contrast, Elway has supposedly loved Drew Lock forever, but all he will say is, “I don’t see any options.” Is it possible that Elway and Fangio have this idea that they have to keep Lock hungry and working hard? It’s just weird the way that neither Elway nor Fangio will give him their full and unqualified support. If that’s the reason, they still don’t know who Drew Lock is. I can’t picture Drew mailing it in just because he’s been named the starter going forward. He’s already talking about talking to Elway and Manning about how to approach the offseason, and he’s planning on staying in town to work with his receivers. It is simply bizarre that neither Elway nor Fangio will just say that we’re moving forward with Drew and we couldn’t be more excited about the future.

Interesting playoff topic for bronco fans:
Should we be rooting for the chiefs to win the Super Bowl? It would probably give us the best chance to win the division next year by them being on the hangover and making all of their players too expensive to re sign

Miss me with any talk of a first round wr. Addressing a position with a 2 next to it (wr2 cb2) with a first round pick is just bad asset management. Wr will be there later, As ive heard all of you say its a deep class there. Take a lineman dont get cute.

Patrick and Hamilton are decent, albeit inconsistent, all-round receivers, and we definitely need an upgrade.

We need a true speedster, with change of direction. Or someone that can get consistent separation. Shenault has always underperformed when I have seen him play, but I haven’t seen many Buffs games. I’ve seen some people compare him to Percy Harvin. That would be FANTASTIC for our team. What does Ryan or others who have seem more of him than I have, think of him? Ryan may not be the most unbiased, haha. Does he have the route running, the change of direction, as well as the power, to open up defences across the middle or down field?

Reading all these anti-Mase comments, on his views on Lock, I am just offering some balance and standing with Mase on this. 5 games people. 5!!! Five games in which he wasn’t amazing in all of them, unlike Mahomes. You can’t evaluate ANY player after 5 games, not even Mahomes. I love the kid, but Lock is NOT the guy, yet!

Dang from yesterday’s pod i just realized I typed late round 2 for laviska, I meant late first round lol get ready for me to be pounding the table all offseason for Kenneth Murray in the 2nd round, think he’s a perfect fit next to AJ and I truly think he’s a future pro bowler as well as the leader that elway has been Looking for in the drafts, one of the cooler things I saw in college football this year was that after every single game he made it a point to go after the opposing coach and shake their hand to say thank you, he’s a really good dude off the field and even better on it.

I just got a chance to listen to the postgame pod and GOOD LORD MASE!! You’re putting expectations on Drew like hes already a 10 year vet! I feel like there’s gotta be some deep rooted place this was coming from. Did Drew cut you off in traffic or maybe TP your house one day? Whatever it is I will have none of it! Drew played another good game that was efficient and like RK said it was enough which is all you can ask out of somebody making their FIFTH start! I have no doubt he will get significantly better going into next year. CBS showed a side by side of him throwing in college vs in last weeks game and you can already see how far he’s come in terms of improving his footwork. Wanting him to be a finished product right away is unfair to Drew. It’s basically like comparing him to the same litmus as Mahomes is really unfair considering he had a team that was already built up around him with studs at TE, WR, and RB. Drew has all young guys who are also coming into their own so this type of thing takes time. Let’s hold off on the hate at least until a few weeks into next season before we’re already thinking that he can’t get any better Mase 😉

Mase,

As Zac has said before, “Open YOUR EYES!”. Lock is the future of this team. He won ugly on Sunday. At least we were on the winning side.

Would the Broncos add John Dorsey as a consultant to Elway. He did help build the current Chiefs roster. Maybe it would help to have someone with history of a rival and an opposing viewpoint to the “yes” men or women Elway has around him now. Always good to have growth in life. I think having Dorsey around would help Elway continue to grow into a better GM.

In a scenario where ruggs, lamb, Jeudy, Whirfs, and Thomas are all off the board, what do we do? Shenault? Maybe Simmons drops? Tee Higgins? a top CB? Trade back? Currently, i see this as the most likely scenario and I’m not sure what the best move is. My gut says Shenault. If you are Elway, what’s the move?
