The biggest take away for me in the past two weeks is the simple fact that we finally have have a quarterback. He will have good games and bad games, but the answer is clear that he is the guy. I know Mase is holding tight in camp “need to see more”, but there is no doubt that Drew Lock is future. Can’t yet say it’s 10 years or 2, but he is the guy moving forward and the potential for him to be a long term, solution is really really good. He has the arm of Cutler and the swag of Baker. Will be interesting to see how he handles adversity, but since he probably saw a lot of that at Mizzu I feel more confident he’ll handle that well, than if he went to Bama or Ohio State. More to see for sure, but the conversation is over. Drew Lock is the Broncos QB.
And since RK has moved past Drewcember I offer this lyric for Zac.
And its been a Lock Drewcember and there’s reason to believe, maybe this year will be better than the last. (Sung to A Long December)

Made pointed out that Drew Lock is the first rookie since 1950 to throw for 300 yards, 75% completion rate and at least 3 touchdowns. That made me research all of Patrick Mahome’s games to see how many times he had a game meet that criteria. The Answer…..2. 2018 against the Steelers and 2019 against the Jaguars.
No question, just thought I’d point that out.

Man, I gotta admit this Buzz Light Year celebration is freaking awesome! I’m really hoping Drew keeps this going forward. I can only imagine how deadly this offense can be if they find a deep threat and make this offense so much more dynamic. I know its only 2 games in but I can already see Lock Vs Mahomes dueling it out for years to come! Excitement is back in the air and we finally found someone who we can root behind.

IllinoisBronco, we HAVE TO MEET UP! Mase, let’s all figure this thing out! I’ll be done with finals after this week, and we can go enjoy ourselves that Saturday night! Something like this would make my week! I would love nothing more than the opportunity to see you guys in person and talk Broncos football. I need a refresher from these Chiefs people after they’ve clinched the division lol. benhayen@icloud.com

Drew had 5 games to prove he should be next years Week 1 starter; he did that in 2.
He now has an entire offseason, training camp, preseason and regular season to prove he’s “the guy” for the next 10 – 15 years. I have zero problem with the coaching staff and front office making him earn it.
I would love to see CeeDee Lamb or Laviska taken in the first; this will only help him reach the goal that much faster.

What’s up fellas,
I called myself watching some Mahomes film this weekend and I have come to A conclusion. At the risk of sounding audacious for even making this comp (Especially given our sample size), the conclusion of as that Physically, drew can do about 87% of what Mahomes did last year.)The other 13% is just God-given arm strength, improv skills, MENTAL GRASP (of play calls and defenses), and downfield vision. Well have to see how he improves year 2 especially with the playbook and his footwork. I think he’ll set his own floor/ceiling based off of his intangibles as a person.I’m willing to say that at worst Drew projects as a rich mans Josh Allen which is good enough.. “good enough” remember, that’s our formula?? When I look at KC I see a blueprint that’s easily replicable in Denver. Say we grab another top WR round 1 (like: CeeDee) all of a sudden other holes may be patched up(OL) Bc defenses will have to respect the arm and play making ability of the WRs. Brings me to my point, would that mean if we’re following the KC blueprint we absolutely have to add some pure speed in our WR group? If so who do we add via draft/ FA
Thanks to Lock I think trading for a guy like Trent Williams is now in play. He’s 30 but that doesn’t matter for a tackle with his production right??
I struggle with the thought of whether a lot of things just went our way these 2 games or if the fact that the ball is even being put in position to be 50/50 is THE massive improvement (and a glance at what talent was being hindered in our young playmakers.) Ryan you got one thing right, good quarterback play elevates everybody.
I’m breaking my gas pedal from slamming it so hard on Drew! I mean he did earn a certain innuendo nickname in college for a reason! Kareem Jackson out there writing the book on how to bring the wood in the modern NFL, he took Hopkins soul with the boom he laid on him

Hi guys,
Soo pumped for the future of this organization with Drew Lock at the helm.
First a question and I know the possibility of this happening is as low as it gets… But, if the Broncos wins every game that’s left this season. They will be 8-8, how big of a chance do they have of making the playoffs? Once again, I know it’s a really low possibility of this even happening, but still there is a chance.
I also wanted to say that the DNVR Madden 20 league (Xbox One) has finalized its first season and we would love to get some new members in it. Check it out at https://daddyleagues.com/thednvrleague

Heard Odell wants out & if Drew is the guy we’ll have cap space for him. Walk us through A realistic package that gets this job done as well as what your Subsequential 2020 draft (targets) would look like after a trade to get OBJ .
His salary cap hit will be a discount next year at 14M.

I failed to let my household sleep thanks to Drew. I was trying to get my three year old son who woke up at 5am to say “Druuuuuuuuuuu”!
My biggest takeaways:
1> The 3rd down effieciency is the best thing about Drew so far. No more soul killing 3 and outs….
2> I’m puzzled by one thing though. Sometimes Drew will drift away from pressure and other times he stands there and take the hit while firing off a laser.
3> Mr B
4> I still believe we need an athletic ILB – Davis got exposed many times in this game.
Great work as always boys.

Aloha!!! What a game! I’ll start off by saying that similar to Mase, I wanted to be cautiously optimistic before declaring Drew the guy. BUT… after letting it marinate for 24 hours, rewatching all the highlights numerous times, and comparing what we’re seeing so far to the last 6 quarterbacks we’ve been subjected to, it’s undeniable to see that Lock has that je ne sais quoi (French for that something special) that we haven’t seen in a signal caller in 4 years. Needless to say I’m ALL IN!
We all agree that the way for the Broncos to keep pace with the Chiefs was for Denver to get their own special. It appears that John has finally done that, and as a bonus found one in a “True son” of Missouri. Great way to mentally troll the entire KC fan base with some internal conflict, every time their team has to face Lock. If all goes well, we might once again have an entertaining rivalry with Kansas City that will last for years to come.
If Lock continues to ball out this season, you know Elway is going to “go for it” immediately. What free agents or positions could you imagine John going after aggressively in the offseason, to make a run for the playoffs next season?
Hope is an amazing feeling! Haven’t felt this good about the team’s future in a long time.
Mahalo boys!

Lets goooo! First off I just want to say I’m sorry my Jayhawks spoiled your night last Saturday RK but man did Drew pick up ALL of our spirits the next day! I’m so energetic about the team now, I’m completely feeding off the energy of this young squad. My dad got tickets to the Chiefs game this weekend but finals and work are costing me a chance to see Toy Story 5 live action. I don’t have a question, just wanted to spread more positive energy on an already positive podcast. Love it, love it, love it. Keep up the great work, you are all an inspiration to a journalism student grinding away. Thanks guys.
Dear mighty three, hello from the west of England! About five weeks ago Mase tweeted about how well the D was playing, ranking high in the league across many categories. I love watching the way the defence operates and particularly keeping my eyes on AJ Johnson as he reads what’s unfolding. Among some strong competition he is the find of the season for me. Man, that guy is EVERYWHERE!
I replied to Mase that “the offence had a balling WR, pretty decent backfield and one (maybe two) good O linemen. But that’s only four or five pieces out of eleven. More required, starting with the most important piece!”
I’m optimistic we may have found that important piece, and Fant is also ahead of the curve in his development. How do you assess the offence now? Where might it rank this time next year and what is still missing?
PS Please never change the tunelessly brilliant “D-N-V-R” in the pod theme – it makes me smile every day!
PPS You can’t buy Breck Brews over here, you have no idea how much I’d like to taste their wares! The daily endorsements don’t make me any less thirsty!
Asking for a friend
Is wide receiver still a concern with how well all Broncos wideouts did the other day? For the first time Hamilton caught passes and looked good.
Bakken Bronco
Mase, thank you for TRYING to hold back Ryan & Zac on the Lock train! Those two are ready to give Lock his gold jacket! With that being said, the smile never left my face during the game on Sunday! What FA do you see Denver targeting in the off season to turn this team into a playoff team/ SUPER BOWL CONTENDER!!!!!

Fellas,
Haven’t commented in awhile. I don’t know if Drew Lock is a pro bowler or whatever, but damn he has lit a fire on this team. Flacco was killing this team, his lack of mobilty and general disintrest, held this team back. Where would this team be if Lock was the starter day one? That thumb injury really sucked. To Zac and Ryan’s point the int he threw didn’t overly concern me at this time. That is the cost of business with a rookie QB, they are going to do stupid things sometimes. But Drew’s arm talent, enthusiasm are really a joy to see. As a Bronco fan here in KC, I’m ready for the streak to end. Its time for the home town boy to come in and stick it to the Chiefs.
8-Bit Bronco
Hey guys
So I have an odd question for guys but a quick context story. While in Buffalo I kept an eye out for some odd or “cool” jerseys. As expected I saw a lot of the normal for both Denver and Buffalo (including myself with a color rush Harris Jr jersey). However I did see a Buffalo Takeo Spikes jersey, but nothing topped my friend (who is a Buffalo fan) jokingly rocking an EJ Manuel jersey. So my question is what would be the best odd/”cool” jersey to own for the Broncos? The best one I have is the 50th anniversary yellow and brown Knowshon Moreno jersey that I got for $15. Is the #19 Broncos Jerry Rice jersey the Holy Grail?
Sorry for the long and odd comment. Appreciate you guys, and can’t wait to see Lock and the boy go into KC to get another big win!

PS got my DNVR shirts in and they are the best. Looking forward to ordering more in the future.

I could not have picked a better game to go to for my first ever broncos game! I was going nuts in the stands! If we keep playing like that maybe the playoffs aren’t out of the question? Love the podcast guys!

Guys THE DREW LOCK ERA HAS BEGUN!!! Drew lock didn’t just beat some crappy team, this is the division leading Texans who beat the Pats last week!! They were coming off a huge win and Drew can in and zapped them away!! Drew showed confidence, he was poised, and he wasn’t afraid to make plays AND THIS IS JUST HIS 2nd GAME!! That’s the biggest thing that sticks out to me is that Drew is showing all these great skills and he’s barely played two games. No rookie QB has played like this ever, and that’s why in Drew’s 2nd game he already set a record. I’ll wrap this comment up by saying The Drew freakin Lock era has began and this future is shining bright in broncos country!!

I’m perfectly fine with a Lock interception throwing it deep down field. At least it gives the other team worse field position than another Wadman shank, I mean “punt”. Do you think the coaches will start to be more agressive on fourth downs knowing the liability they have in Wadman?
Thomason
Gents,
Signed up from the crappiest base in Afghanistan last year, thanks for getting me through both the deployment and the brutal tailspin of the Vance Joseph era.
I’ll be attending the KC game next weekend- definitely going to Joe’s for a Z-man and fries before the game- let me know if your in town, Mase!
Not expecting much against KC this week, I think Drew will be under a lot of pressure from the jump. My Q: is Garrett Bolles improving to the point they may pick up his option, or has that ship sailed? What are the top option after Wires and Thompson in the draft if we need a new LT?
OnionTownLynx
Locked in? Too good to be Drew? Lock and Roll? This is the way they DREW it up…
There are far too many good uses for this name that cannot be used in one week, however feel free to use any of the options I mentioned if they haven’t already been put in action. As a proud Broncos fan who holds his tongue and keeps his opinions to himself without the need to jump the gun, I triumphantly created hot take and bold prediction aplenty as my friend, a 49ers fan, told me that the rest of the NFL sees the Broncos as a sad, losing team with sub-par coaching and far too many holes to fill in one off season. He told me it would take at least 3 years for this team to get back to the playoffs even with a starting QB (Obviously baiting me to get in way over my head (Totally saw it (Definitely didn’t))). I proudly told him that the Broncos were a LOCK for the playoffs next season and that we had a guy who can contend with Patty. I jumped the gun…. I went full Bronco…. I don’t know whether to feel ashamed or hopeful. So that’s how my weekend went. Play around with a way to make “Breckenridge Drew” sound cool so we can connect him to the pod! Love you guys and all you do here. Can’t wait to Lock down the Chiefs. There’s actually a wrestling move called the “Indian Death Lock.” I like the sound of it. Have a great day guys!

Hey boys. Nice to hear R.K. & Mase. My question. What is the underlying problem holding back Phil and the running game as a whole, is it just missing a true fullback? Prediction, Broncos 38 again against a lousy Chef’s ” D “, Chefs 20. Patrick will not be 100%, a hand issue. GO Lock/Broncos/Zoomies
AF_Broncos_FIVE
Hi gents! Did you see the mic’d up with Purcell that the official channel posted? Seeing his energy and excitement as the score climbed to infinity and beyond really showed what leadership and culture from both Vic (as leadership) and Drew (as hope) could bring for the future!
Thanks for the great coverage and endless hope! Go Broncos!

Hey boys,
Mase,
I was already 75 percent sold on going into Arrowhead and biting the bullet on getting a ticket and seeing this team live and LOCKed in! I can now say, happily, I secured my seat in the red kingdom to watch this prodigal son potentially ride in with an army of Broncos on his side. As I mentioned last week, I can see Drew Lock coming in and rewriting recent history and bringing a W to Denver by beating the team he once wanted to play for.
Now, for reality to check in, I fully am prepared to watch our team to lose. Even live and in person. I want to see how Drew handles the nerves of Arrowhead. That’s why I am going to this game. It will be my second ever Broncos game (both at Arrowhead, last in 2017 with VJ…yuck) and I couldn’t help denying that this game is HUGE for Drew.
Also, a DNVR Meetup somewhere before the game would be awesome!
There are apparently a lot of folks from Missouri or just travelling to the game that listen to this podcast. It would be electric! Count me in! I would love to meet you guys in person and chat DNVR.
Sorry for the long comment.
Keep it up and keep LOCKed in,
– Skyler

It is obvious that there is a lot of hype and optimism following Drew Lock’s performance on Sunday. I have a hypothetical question for you guys to answer. If you could be guaranteed that the Broncos would win a Super Bowl in 12 years (February 2032), but no sooner, would you take the deal? Would it be worth it to sit through 11 seasons knowing that no matter how good the team is, they wouldn’t win a super bowl until 2032? Or would you rather ride with the chance that they might win one (maybe more) before then? I know this question is a little out there but it just popped in my head as I was listening to the pod. Thanks for the amazing podcast!

Hi guys
I haven‘t been listening during the last offseason yet. Could you please take me through the senior bowl and what you saw in drew lock compared to his college days and the other quarterbacks in that class. Have you already seen improvements in his game compared to his senior bowl?
Thanks and best!
Alex

I get that it’s a small sample size, but the reason I’m excited about Lock’s performance is that each time we’ve seen him play, he’s gotten better. From the Hall of Fame game, to each preseason game, to the Chargers game and then now. There’s a definite positive trajectory there.
Ironically, the most impressive thing about Lock was his ball placement and overall accuracy. That’s something that is often a criticism of big armed QBs, and especially Lock coming out of the draft.
Anyway- We know the team is looking for an ‘young Emmanuel’ and there’s a receiver that could declare this year that is comped to Emmanuel quite a bit. Could probably be had in the third round, too. That’s Tylan Wallace from OSU. I’m a huge fan of his, and he’s exactlywhat the Broncos need at that position.
The negative is that he tore his ACL last month and if he does declare, he’s not going to be ready to the draft- so no combine/Pro Day etc, and no way in telling how explosive he’d be after that or if the injuries are a trend. I would take a risk on him in the 3rd though.
TomMercury
I side with Mase. Pump the brakes on Lock. We all thought Mayfield was the truth last year. And he has struggled mightily this year. To me, he is not “The Guy” until halfway through next year. I need to see repeatability not a flash in the pan.
PigTosser66
The more you look at it the more it becomes clear that Drew Lock was the steal of the draft. He has 1st Round tools and that’s obvious. But the fact that he was a 4-year starter at a school where the talent was at the level of the other SEC teams’ 2nd stringers is really what shows who this kid is and just what he can be. He battled in the SEC for 4 years with confidence and carried his undermanned team. If he was on a team with equal talent in college then Lock is going in the top 3 overall. What a steal in round 2!! Can’t wait to watch what he does now that the playing field is a lot more evenly matched from team to team. Look out boys!!
OnionTownLynx
Do you think Vic sees it? Cause I do! Fangio obviously knows Lock’s ceiling is much higher than what he’s already done and he all but said it yesterday. He called the Texans game “pretty good”. This is an honest guy, right? Well i owe Elway an apology because they think he can win Super Bowls someday. Love it
Nickstixx
Hey guys,
I know there is a lot of comments so I’ll keep it short.
If Drew Lock continues this type of consistent production on third down, when do we start referring to third down as “Lock-down?” I could see it now… the graphic comes on the screen showing his 3rd down production and we start calling it “Lock down” it almost reminds me of “Tebow time.”
Keep up the great work!

Guys,
With 80 mill (approx.) available how would you feel about these situations if they are plausible and would you like that move: (This all hinges on Drew being the guy)
Castanzo ~ 3 yr 33 mil (11/yr) 22 Guaranteed
Simmons ~ 4 yr 52 mil (13/yr) Fully Guaranteed
CHJ ~ Tag (Dependent on if you can draft one) $17/yr
Wolfe ~ 3 yr 18 mil (6/yr) Fully Guaranteed
Shelby ~ 2 yr 12 mil (6/yr) 8 Guaranteed
Draft Class ~9-10 mil
McGovern- 3 yr 12 mil (4/yr) 7 Guaranteed
Parks- 3 yr 9 mil (3/yr) 4.5 Guaranteed
This addresses LT, RG, CB, Keeps the D line together with leaving 10 mil left over. We then can (trade back in the first?) grab Tyler Biadasz, kick McGovern to RG and we can take a speed receiver in day 1/2 (depending on trade down).
Line- Castanzo, Risner, Biadasz, McGovern, James
D Line- Chubb, Shelby, Dre’Mont/Purcell, Wolfe, Von
Secondary- CHJ, Callahan (if healthy), Jackson, Simmons, (Parks, Bausby, Harris, Dawson)-Nickle guys
WR, RB, LB are all kinda locked and add in draft picks
Seems good on paper to me with having 10 mil left over
Orange_Crush512
Fellas, feeling real good for the next 3 weeks, hopefully we go on a 5-0 run to finish the season. Looking forward to the draft just a little bit here, what are y’all’s opinion about about bringing in Savon Scarver from USU as a slot receiver/special teams ace (I’m liking Dionte Spencer but could we get even better here?) or Devin Duvernay from Texas for a sure handed receiver in the middle to late rounds? Go Broncos!

Hi guys.
1. I refuse to think there will ever be a reason to forgive or be okay with several of Elways choices as GM but they are getting better.
2. In response to Mase from an earlier comment I made. Mase you are my Astro. Zac being the “cute laugh” is my Orbie. RK sorry buddy you have to be my Judy cause of the style only.
3. Mr B and quickly becoming for Drew
4. That game had me cackling at my local zoo during a Christmas event.
Thanks for the awesome coverage.

Hey guys. As always, thanks for the amazing podcast.
I have to admit that I am starting to come back to earth with all the hype and hope regarding Drew Lock being “the guy”. I definitely believe that he should be the guy for next season, but I think the jury is still out for if he’s the guy beyond that. I just keep thinking about other qbs who have had amazing games during a season and then seemed to really regress and never seem to be able to get over the hump (ie Marriotta, Winston). I know that you guys have mentioned that Lock has a good work ethic in learning the game, I’m just hoping he’ll be able to overcome whatever adversity the league throws at him and that we have the coaching staff that will help him in that.
Thanks guys.
BroncoGator
Steeburt92
Good to see Drew play at this kind of level against a playoff team, and it was funny that the one major criticism the announcers have is that “he has to memorize the playbook! He keeps looking at his wrist and wearing that band isn’t common”. Should we just chalk that up to a need to simplify the play calls during the off season?
The Whiskey Cat
What’s up DNVR fam. As promised last week (and due to Mase’s suggestion), we need to organize a meetup for the DNVR family that will be in town for the KC game. May as well start planning now so we can have a plan come this weekend. I’m thinking one of the following options.
– Saturday 12/14 7:00 p.m. at the Jack Stack on 22nd.
– Sunday 12/15 After the game at the Jack Stack on 22nd.
If anyone else has suggestions, feel free to voice them. Mase, let us know what works best for you. Once that’s determined, I’ll comment again with my email to get a list of who’s going and make us a reservation.
Stoked to meet y’all and get hyped about Lock’s revenge game/homecoming.
TCU-bronco
The only thing we should be pumping the breaks on is the silly Phillip Rivers talk – glad we can put that to bed. I already penciled Denver in for the next 3 SBs. To Drewfinity and beyond!
On another note, I am concerned if we have to start Schlottmann again. As a TCU grad, I’ll tell you he was to the frogs as Bolles is to the Broncos… holding calls and everything. Hopefully he is learning something underneath Munchak. The frog I really want on this team is Reagor. Don’t let his drop in production this year fool you. He was hampered by poor QB/team play. With a competent passer behind him, he will be a TD machine.
Steve_Atwater_HOFer
Bold Prediction:
Chief Fans will find it too hard to cheer against their hometown hero, Drew Lock, that they will all convert to Broncos fans. They will symbolize their new Lock/Broncos Fandom by all coming together and doing the buzz light year Karate Chop Action celebration in unison.
