Just wondering how many more games before George calls me into his office?
Also real quick, I was at the Louisville/Virgina game Saturday in Louisville and Tom Jackson was there to start the game. Got to shake his hand. Such a cool moment as a life long broncos fan!

I don’t ever want to hear Vic Fangio “defensive genius” again. He was a “defensive genius” with Patrick Willis and Khalil Mack in their primes, tough. Ever since becoming the head coach of this team, the defense has been mediocre. Sacks, near the bottom of the league. Turnovers, near the bottom. Honestly, every time we get a lead late under his tenure, or absolutely need a stop to get our offense one more shot, how many times do you think “they are gonna come through!”? Never.
And I think enough was said about the idiot running the offense yesterday so I’ll just say, I second that.

Watching all these young QBs put up video game numbers and we can’t break 20 points again is just so depressing. My heart can only take so much.
Then Listening to Brandon Staley talk intelligently about data based strategy and innovative thinking…comparing him to our staff…
Maybe I’m overreacting but until we make major changes as an org Herbert and Mahomes are going to have us in a #worldofsuck for the next 20 years. #pain
ChicagoBronco86
That was rough, though I’ll take a bit of comfort in the flashes the offense showed late at least.
It’s become pretty clear to me that Denver’s issues are stemming from the coaching staff and not the players. The talent is there (granted they’ve had some rough luck) and Teddy is easily a good enough QB to compete for a playoff spot with this roster on paper.
Unfortunately the offense they’ve built just seems sluggish and uninspired. But the real concern is that Vics defense is really starting to show some weaknesses.
I’d like them to get a qb this next draft to sit behind someone until he’s ready, and i’d be happy for that to be teddy, but without coaching changes I don’t see any new qb working out. The common denominator with guys like Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, and Murray is they went to teams with a good coaching staff and a strong supporting cast. Maybe a vet like Rodgers could step into this org and succeed, but just ask teams like the jets and jags what happens when you draft a talented young guy to a dysfunctional system.
That being said, I still haven’t given up on this year, I’ve still got faith in Teddy and Von. Go Broncos

2 weeks ago I commented that I was happy about 3-0, but I didn’t see a path to long term success without a complete change in the philosophy. That has really been the case the last 2 games. In 2015 there was a shift away from Manning’s high flying offense and into the 1990’s style run heavy attack relying on good defense, but in the 21st century that just doesn’t get it done. I know you guys didn’t agree a couple weeks ago, curious if you still think the overall philosophy can lead to success. I definitely don’t, haven’t since 2016 when I realized they were 20 years behind in creativity. The coaching hires since have all be for that brand of football, in my opinion – completely wasting the talent on the team.
I’m hoping Paton making the next coaching hire will change things, but there’s always the chance he was brought in to stick with that philosophy as well. It’s so hard to even care about the games anymore. 5 minutes into the first quarter it feels like a loss already. I’d rather spend my Sundays playing Madden or fixing something around the house. It’s the same show on repeat for 6 years. This plan won’t work without a Legendary defense and HOF QB at the helm.
Sorry about the long comment. Good chance it’s the last one for a while, not planning to keep repeating the same complaints every week after these losses pile up. There’s a legit case to be made that the Broncos may go 3-14, and it’ll get old real fast.
I’m A Boliever
I don’t want to feel like the sky is falling, but those oh-so-familiar feelings of mediocrity and apathy are starting to creep in again. This season is showing flashes of seasons past and good lord, does it suck.
I’m also starting to hope Paton just blows everything up and starts over from scratch. This coaching staff isn’t it. Plain and simple. So it’s time to move on.
My question, though, is this:
Say Denver fires everyone and hires a young, offensive-minded HC. Who does Paton turn to for QB? The upcoming crop of prospects in college is looking grim; I don’t necessarily like the thought of using a (maybe high) first round pick on any of them, to be honest. Are we back to talking about A-A-Ron again – 6 weeks into the season?
Oh Broncos, you are a most cruel mistress.

Hi guys,
Rant time!
Can someone explain to me how athletes that put their hands out for multi million dollar contracts need someone else to fire them up? If players cant prepare for a game and be absolutely ready to use the skills they are paid handsomely for, they need to be let go.
And I’m dreading the next 5 years watching Mac and Justin lead teams to playoffs while this “top 5” defence gets beaten regularly!
Rant over!
Great coverage as usual by the DNVR team!

hey guys
so, rk fairly made the point that the broncos were caught between a rock and a hard place with brandon staley and not being able to promote him back when he was here, so i don’t really hold that against them. if anyone made a mistake with staley, it was the bears for letting him take a lateral job with the broncos.
with that in mind, do you think they should get ahead of the curve if they view zach azzanni as highly as we think they do, and consider giving him a bigger role within the offense? maybe not all the way to offensive co-ordinator but something like a passing-game co-ordinator title?
Nathaniel Thiccett?
I knew we were doomed from the moment they responded to a 50 yd TD pass with the ol not-so-reliable run, run, pass.
If a mob forms to replace your curvy head coach, I think I saw him go that way ?
HtownBronco
Rk.
Completely agree with your assessment. At the end of the day the Broncos are soft. They’re a soft football team. Don’t know how to respond after getting punch in the mouth. They get bitched every week on TV. It’s really embarrassing.
We have one of the best teams on paper. Yet we’re the most sloppy. That’s Vics fault. So much for “the best secondary in the league” ?? what a joke.
The team shouldn’t have to smash heads before the game to get blood flowing. The coaches should set that motto all week. I look at McVay damn near having a stroke each game on the side line and I want that so much.
Vic is too old and lazy. And now this team is lazy (and we’re one of the younger teams — NOT good).
This season is over. Stick a fork in them. If we can’t beat the Steelers we’re fucked. Too bad they won’t fire Vic till season is over.
Whoopty-Do Vic won in September. We won’t even care about September come December. Get ready for 11 LONG more weeks boys…
Sad day

Hey guys. Another miserable Monday!
What has Fangio brought as a head coach? Do we have an identity?!
Regardless of outcome this season it is time for a coaching change
Peace out ✌?
Windy City Bronco
On the bright side when Jeff Bezos comes in and fires the entire coaching staff, we can be confident that it can’t get much worse.
In the mean time Fangio needs to stop pretending he’s a head coach and go back up to the box to call the defense. Let munchack run the sidelines.
On to the Faders!

DNVR Family Therapy. Love listening to you guys vocalize everything stewing in my head. But if there are more of these to come then I might have to go online and purchase one of those long couches to lay on while listening to the postgame pod. You guys are spot on. Watching other well-coached teams in other games is very disheartening. The Vic/Shurmur combo is a terd. Time to flush it.
Roy Donk
One positive viewpoint. The Broncos almost have as many wins as they had all last season. The Chiefs already have as many losses as they had last season (including the super bowl). The Raiders still suck.
…I’m pretending the Chargers don’t exist right. Chargers gonna Charger?? Maybe??
Bled Orange & Blue since 82
All right Gentleman I take back my last comment! It’s wrong on my part, to put the lack of success on the leadership of the players!! This team is as lost as Von Miller covering A teams top WR!. What is y’all’s biggest takeaway from the first 5 weeks of the season! For Broncos and the NFL as a whole?
Mile High Buckeye
That was probably the most infuriating loss I’ve seen live in the last 5 years. We legit beat ourselves with mental mistakes on both sides of the ball. Inexcusable and just bad football. Love the effort at the end, but just a bad overall game.
I feel like Pat Shurmur is taking a lot of heat (and rightfully so), but at what point do we start talking bigger (eg. Elway, GM, Ownership)? I feel like we have gone through so many QB’s and OC’s over the years, and still can’t get it right.
The Big T
I never thought Coaches made thaaaaat much difference in the NFL. Oh how wrong I was. Don’t want to state the obvious, but Vic and Shurmur are done here. Both are bad.
Mrs. Quill
Was the most discouraging part of the game when we couldn’t stop the Steelers O, down Najee and JuJu, from eating clock and kicking a field goal at the end of the game? Get like we had the momentum and just needed the D to make a play and no one could.
The Matrix
The broncos are a team with no ownership literally and figuratively. There isn’t enough product from the green solution to continue to get me excited for this team. Were a team ran by coordinators. We do not have a head coach, we don’t have a group of solidified leaders from our players. Payton has yet to make a statement move , Joe Ellis is a non existent “owner ”
Wake me up from this misery when we draft Malik Willis and elon is our new owner.
Anyway,
Love the pod and love yall.

My dudes!! First of all, sorry for my extended break from the comments section. I have been enjoying from a distance on the daily. But today I am back and I am channel my inner pissed off RK from early training camp.
I am sad to tell you all, but I have offically lost all faith in this coaching staff. In year three as a unit under Vic, there has been ZERO progress shown in all three phases of the team.
Offense – same issues since Kubiak departed just a new QB and OC combo that do not know how to bring the fight to defenses
Defense – no pass rush, over promise and under delivering.
Special teams – no need to expand here.
I’m just so disappointed that Vic waited his whole life to get a HC job, and he refuses to be hands on with any aspect of the team that is not “his defense”. You can’t just punt to Shurmur and McMahon and pray it works Out.
Lastly, I am highly let down by our highest paid players. Simmons, Harris, Gordon, Miller, Fuller, Callahan, Bolles, Glasgow… how many times are the majority of them going to be no show and not help ralley the troops. Our best performing players are guys on their rookie deals, street contracts, or low tenders. The high paid vets are suppose to be THE team and the young guys are suppose to be the extra juice.
Paton – I’m ready for you to do what you need to do to build a winner. Any of these “core players” that have been on the roster since 2016 are expandable IMO.
Rant over it will Be less in the future.
So when Fangio was hired, did he mean “death by inches” is going to motto and what they aim for??
Mr.Undrafted
At what point do we change OC? Is it the play calling or the players not executing the plays, the slow starts are the same no matter which Qb we put in. When is it better to move on from a OC then a young qb that needs time to develop.

I just want to add my voice to the crowd regarding how disheartening it was to see the team completely lack passion yesterday. Somebody has to pay or else its the fans who pay.

On the brightside… I finally found BreckBrew in San Francisco. I’ll be buying Vanilla Porter this week. Standby for my review of my first taste of BreckBrew!
