You guys nailed it on the pod, we should all just sit back and enjoy this season for what it is. I look forward to looking back on this one and saying “Remember when we crushed the Lions for DT? That was the year we finally got it turned around, that was awesome.”

With that said I was all for the fans booing Shurmur’s vanilla second quarter offense. It almost felt like someone got in his ear when they drove down to add 3 more before the end of the half, that just felt very Un-Pat-like.

Un-needed points by the end of the game, but massive for the moment, momentum and showing the offense can be clutch for that end of half drive to go win a game.

Gentlemen.

As I said before, thank you for helping through these very late/ early nights with a newborn.

An interesting question: based on the round they were drafted in, which rookie has been the best value?

P.S.
R.K. and I have met. I’m friends with Ryan Greene and was with CSU media when he was at CU

Unless the rest of the year is an abject failure keeping Vic would be the best thing for this team. He’s got no charisma, questionable game management, struggles to take accountability, etc. BUT:

1. He’s average at worst. As long as we don’t have quite literally the worst QB play in the league we can be competitive in a tough division, even when we’re not at our healthiest.

2. He’s the only defensive mind that has consistently slowed down Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid. That’s maybe the most valuable weapon in the AFC.

3. Paton doesn’t see this as a rebuild so why would he blow up the coaching continuity? If George can’t get Russ or Aaron, he’ll see a rookie-friendly situation with a strong defense, talented offense with experience in the scheme, and a rare OC who has maximized his QBs and is still unlikely to get HC interest.

What a beautiful tribute to DT, rest in peace DT, very happy with the Broncos (and Lions) for that on field tribute. What a great win too.

That said, we’re paying Tim Patrick millions to catch 2 balls for 21 yards? 2 for 26 yards before that? We’re paying Sutton more to have 2 catches or less for 6 games IN A ROW? Jeudy could finish without a touchdown. Before this season, I never would have thought it was even possible to have receivers of this caliber (and this cost) getting this few targets. I hoped after this week, I wouldn’t need to address this, but it’s not changing.

Historically, receivers force their way out of teams even when they’re getting more work than Sutton is, think like Steffon Diggs. Can you believe how hyped up we got for the Teddy Jeudy connection? I’m old enough to remember you guys talking about how good Teddy would be for Jeudy. I’m not knocking you guys, lots of us agreed. I bet if we “ran the tape” the things that were said would seem so far away from the reality.

Hey fellas, so loving where we are and excited to push for the playoffs. Also I went to JMU. Watching JMU this year I see similarities with their backfields and the broncos Back field. Multiple backs with different skills but all effective! The way they rotate their backs is each back gets 2 plays than switches out. I think with all 3 of our backs being able to run and pass protect, do you think that this would be an effective way to rotate our backfield. Touches stay close and even, no favoritism’s, and best of all it never gives away if we are passing or running. What are your thoughts?
Also check out JMU vs NDSU this weekend! Will be like a championship game !

So there is no way Paton re-signed BOTH of our higher priced upcoming free agent WRs unless he planned on having a QB that would actually throw them the ball in 2022 right?
This has to be a plan to lure a big time QB because these guys are not even coming close to playing like that money will soon pay them. Glad these new contracts are extensions that don’t kick in until after this season or we would be flushing money down the toilet. Do those signings together make you guys feel 100% that they are moving on from Teddy?

.I have to say what I feel is real ..WE WILL NOT GO TO THE PLAYOFFS if teddy continues to be teddy …..I’m SO DONE WITH TEDDY THROWING SHORT OF THE STICKS ! …he threw 2 tds today

.or did he ???

He had yet another TD in the red zone where he throws short of the sticks and depends on our awesome weapons to make a play THIS IS FRUSTRATING !!!!! So tired of hearing courtland Sutton sucks Jerry Jeudy sucks
.. they can’t get open …. I ask people are they watching games ? Dude that javonte Williams catch and score was all javonte that was a terrible throw all the catches that Jerry jeudy had were TERRIBLY THROWN !!!! ….. FREAKING HONORING DT AND WE COULDN’T GET ONE WR TO 88 YARDS AS A TRIBUTE HUH TEDDY ? ….. I have not been this frustrated since flacco smh ….. How can we honestly think we’re going to the playoffs …. All u have to do is get the broncos in 3rd and long and U WIN …. Teddy cam not convert past 3rd and 6 and if u can’t do that UR NOT A PLAYOFF TEAM SMH this team deserves better then teddy man ??‍♂️?

In the postgame Javonte Was asked about what led to the hot start with two early scoring drives this week and he noted the moment of silence and 10 man huddle as sparking the team and giving them something bigger to play for.

Obviously these are extraordinarily tragic circumstances, but it’s magnified what I’ve also seen as inconsistent effort from this team. When they come out with their hair on fire and ready to make a statement they are dominant. If they played with the gusto that teams like Detroit and Baltimore come out with regularly we’d be a team nobody wants to see.

Vic has made up for his horrendous challenge flags with his incredible 4th down conversion rate.

Thanks for the content as always.

That’s a trade I can definitely live with. Coaches challenges in all of 2020 was only 37% successful, while Broncos are 3rd in the league (tied with KC but Broncos has 2 times the attempts!) at 63.7%. Broncos have successfully converted the most 4th downs in the league! An extra down opportunity taken wisely like that is way more important than a less-than-coin-flip challenge success rate.

Rotating makes sense, I would probably ride the hot hand though as you go. If 1 guy is gashing for 6 yards a play and the other guy is getting stuffed, it’s just obvious who to go for. But if they are even, yeah I would rotate. Cool to see both Williams and Gordon get 2 TDs each to split the load/payload!

hey guys,

was pretty shocked to hear vic say that kjack is one of his all time favorite players. just wanted to hear what y’all thought about him saying that and your thoughts on that free agent signing overall? obviously the flacco trade and ja’wuan james signing of the 2019 class didn’t work out but kareem has been one of the few free agent success stories in denver since the 2014 season, imo.

what do y’all think?

Realistically what will it take to secure the number one overall pick in 2023 (Bryce Young), and why isn’t it done already? If we get Bryce we’re done with that position (the most valuable position) for the next 15 years. Who cares about 3 years worth of picks in the grand scheme of things. I think the closer we get to that draft the more teams will associate their pick with available players. For example, imagine trying to trade for the 1st overall pick last offseason. Not happening, especially when teams start to realize what player that pick translates to.

Im thinking we HAVE to improve our OL boys, the interior specifically. Lloyd is great and still young, but no thanks. I think this offseason we inevitably will give up draft capital (possibly multiple 1st and 2nds) to get a big name vet; HOWEVER I think regardless we still need new faces up front. In a potential trade to get an elite QB, do you think we give up so much draft capital that drafting a plug and play lineman is off the table? For reference I really liked what Tampa did by getting Tom and Wriffs in the same offseason. It paid dividends immediately

I think Broncos end up with 9 wins and miss out on playoffs by tiebreakers (heart breaking I know) . Then what will happen for next season is Vic and Teddy and Melvin return, and the Broncos ride this ground and pound train next year until they can draft the QB of the future. Paton doesn’t like giving up all his draft stock (so I don’t think Rodgers or Wilson will leave/ or at least come to Denver). So with no standout draft QBs this year, we run it back and run the ball! (Not sure if this is my preference but just what I can see/ Occam’s Razor)

Any chance we are able to keep Melvin next year? Love the guy and love his style alongside Javonte.

It was great watching our running attack and defense feast yesterday…our passing offense, on the other hand, helped bring me back to earth. I don’t mean to be a Debby downer on victory Monday, but considering our competition and the dominance we had in the running game, Teddy should’ve made mince meat of the injury riddled 1-10-1 Lions defense. Instead, in the second quarter, the only time yesterday where it felt we needed the passing offense to step up, they crumbled.

Yesterday was awesome, but it came with the not so subtle reminder that all you need to do as a defense against Denver is stack the box, take away the run, and force us to pass. We saw that blueprint last week and I worry that better defenses won’t have a problem recreating it. I get that, statistically, Teddy is doing well overall…but is anyone in Broncos country confident in Teddy, with the ball in his hands late, needing a score? Perhaps I’m being too critical, but this offense just has too much talent to be this…meh.

Keep up the good work guys! Hope Teddy proves me wrong!
