I know some other people have noticed but I just have to mention it again. Jeudy does not seem like he enjoys playing with Lock. Not sure who’s at fault but they are just never on the same page. Do you guys think this should be something we worry about for the future? Is jeudy the next Emmanuel sanders(loves it here only when we’re good)?
kirksmith44
I came on here to make a similar comment. Hot take: shop Jeudy in the off-season, he’s a cancer already. The body language is terrible, the tweets are a distraction and he’s too much of a diva already for a guy who drops the ball as much as he does. I get Lock and Shurmur are not the best but guys like Jeudy destroy cultures and ruin locker rooms. I’d take any of the other 9 receivers drafted after him right now if I could. Ceedee, Reagor, Jefferson, Aiyuk, Higgins, Pittman, Shenault, Hamler, or Claypool, is take them all. Luckily we have one of them.

Hey guys, it was T O R C H U R E watching the second half. It felt like the bills offense couldn’t get off the field, and it looked like they were cracking open some breck brews, getting their teeth cleaned by the folks at green mountain dental, applying to MSU Denver, and taking overs draft kings offered on every single bet that concerned the team ALL AT THE SAME TIME! What I want to know concerning the game plan is this- was the conservative game plan, which worked in past games, the reason no deep shots were taken? In other words, did the bills just keep giving the easy dump off passes so the deep throws could never be found? I honestly thought drew played ok and agree with you that he was not the main concern, but is this the best game plan or identity long term?
(P.S., I covered all the sponsors so now there is no need for another sponsor shout out lol)

I think they were playing WGT Golf and looking at redoing their mortgages with Mike and Virginia too

I think Bobenmoyer, the one who recovered that, played pretty much as well as they could have along with Fant and Sam Martin. Your long snapper playing well isn’t much of a consolation, but credit to him.
I want to see how well Drew could do with another year with the same OC and with Sutton coming back. He’s definitely playing better than a few weeks ago. On the other hand, based on what we’ve seen, there’s a significant chance that Drew is not a viable, league-average starter next year and that he would help deliver us a losing season. Anyone who doesn’t want to see another losing season should desperately want the Broncos to bring in another QB who can challenge Lock to be the starter and could give us a winning season. At this point that even includes guys like Fitzpatrick and Bridgewater.
Some say if you have 2 QBs you have none, maybe that’s true most of the time. But it is true that if you have only have 1 QB that you think could seriously be a viable starter and they bust, you have no QBs. Lock has too high of a chance to be a bust for us not to have another serious option.
Who wouldn’t want to have 2 QBs that could both potentially be starting caliber? Why play with fire? Bring in another QB to compete even if it’s a 1st round pick, screw optics or what that says about whether that guy is the “de facto starter”. Shouldn’t winning matter more than optics? Not hedging our bets at this point would be like taking the airbags out of your car cause you say “well, I’ve got a seat belt on, there’s a good chance that saves me if we get into an accident”. You’re taking a risk you don’t have to be. Drew’s roughly a 50/50 proposition right now and 2 games can only move those percentages so much. Strong take, not sure I’ll convince you guys. Thanks for all that you do!

My boys and members too. IMO, there are 3 tests to decide if Drew is the guy. That is what this season is all about.
1. Eye test
2. Confidence test
3. Stats test
1. Eye test results through 14 games. Not seeing a lot of special plays. The few are awesome, but more complete misses than amazing plays.
2. Pretty much all Denver fans either want a hedge or a new QB. 10% might think he’s the man, but that group is shrinking and have a list of excuses, but not much reason on why he is the guy. Not saying he can’t make a jump, but not likely to the level of Josh Allen.
3. 60% completion rate is the bare minimum. 65% or higher is when it makes a difference. 2 dropped INT’s today, he was lucky as with those.
He didn’t lose the game today, but did nothing to win it outside of late drives at the end of halves. 2 games to convince us, but I’d rather move up and get a real talent. Willing to live with it if he doesn’t pan out. Better to try and fail than keep Shurmur for continuity and a QB that is average more than he is spectacular. Shurmur has been as valuable as Driskell, so if we get new QB, we can dump him.

First the game. I wasn’t a big fan of the gameplan coming out of the gate of all checkdowns. The fact that we didn’t complete a pass to a WR until the final two minutes of the half is ridiculous. I am all in favor of getting drew easy passes, but we can do that without doing nothing but checkdowns to TE’s and HB’s. Where are the easy slants to Jeudy and Hamler? Our defense was bad, but without all of our CB’s what can we expect?
What did you guys think of Ojemudia’s ejection? Obviously throwing a jab was the wrong choice, but Davis was just holding on to Ojemudias facemask and the refs just didn’t seem to care about that.
After the fumble and score by the bills it just looked like the Broncos had given up and didn’t want to play the final 20 minutes.
Anyways I wanted to throw out another name that the broncos could get as competition or just a decent backup. Josh Rosen. I know he hasn’t had a lot of success, but he was never put into a situation to be successful, his first season in Arizona the only weapons they had were Larry Legend and David Johnson (who isn’t even a weapon) then he got traded to the dolphins, and who did they have??? Both teams gave up on him very quickly and after being on the bucs practice squad learning under Brady for a year, it seems like he would be a low risk high reward option. I believe that Elway was high on Rosen the year he came out too. It just seems to make sense to me, what do you guys think?

Mornin boys,
At this point I like Trubisky as front runner for the hedge. He is at least capable of multiple 300 yard games. Darnold and Minshew can’t even win so at this point, to me, Trubisky would be a decent enough option to make things interesting; if we don’t take Jones or Trask.
That being said, the two upcoming rooks would be the only other thing that would make sense. I get a feeling Elway is gonna F this up.

That game was rough but I do think that we are losing a bit of our perspective for the offensive expectations. Just a few weeks ago you all stated that if the offense can get to 24 they did their job, in that game they put the team in position to get 24 points but the backup kicker couldn’t convert.
Obviously they eventually need to be able to carry a game but they’re very young, missing their top weapon, and still trying to get clicking so expecting them to win a shoot out with Buffalo is unrealistic.
As for Lock, I’m not sure if he’s the guy, but change for the sake of change is counter productive. I’m curious to hear your take on which QBs in the draft you think have a higher chance of panning out (because fans seem to forget that first rounders are far from a sure thing). As for veterans, who would you rate as more likely to be the guy that’s available?
I understand everyone’s frustration but from where I’m sitting, outside of lucking into Dak or Stafford, Lock seems to be Denver’s best option next year. Your thoughts?
ChicagoBronco86
To clarify this is not saying they shouldn’t get a hedge, just that I think Lock has the highest chance of being the guy of players they could reasonably get.

Is Lock improving at all?
I get all of the factors working against him. I get that he’s had to learn the offense twice. I get that in college he didn’t have to make the reads that the NFL demands. I don’t expect him to be a success right now but I just want to see improvement.
I don’t see it. The Lock that played the last two weeks doesn’t look that different than the one we saw finish up 2019. I’m not a QB scout and maybe I’m missing something but it feels like he’s treading water.
Orange Rush5855
I would like to see the Broncos go after Darnold for the right price with the talent on offense and what a healthy broncos defense could be I think he could be really successful in Denver obviously he’s been having a rough season with the jets but with what he’s had for weapons the past few seasons I don’t see anyone being successful there! Not saying I’m done with Drew but he def needs some competition for the job
Garett Bolles
I’m actually so done with the fans saying we should’ve drafted Josh Allen.. If fans are ready to run Drew out of town, then I don’t even know what they would’ve done with Josh Allen after their first 16 starts. And there was absolutely no way VJ and Musgrave were going to develop and have patience with Allen. Also, at the the time of the draft, Chubb was the absolute obvious choice to make there.
Fans are also out here making it seem like Lock should’ve just told his 3rd string corners to simply play better.
MavBronco
Howdy gents,
Each week I look for the offense to overcome a hurdle. Almost to be sick and tired of being stifled and play pissed off. Really stinks seeing an anemic offense yet again. I personally think that in a lost game tell Drew, pretend the game is on the line and you’re down by 6 every single drive. See how many ‘game winners’ he can produce. Not run a draw into the oline and punt.
Defensively the effort fell off. Those guys quit at the end. Played flat, and gave up. Very disappointing and hopefully Fangio can get them fired up for the next game. That sort of play is what will be the death knell for Fangio, if it continues this season.
Sorry for the long one and thanks for the pod as always

Happy Holidays to the best damn dudes on the best damn podcast!
Tough loss but I wasn’t expecting a win mainly because of our CB situation. Lock played alright (a couple throws to Fant and Jeudy were legit) but he definitely has gone in the total opposite direction with this short passing and check down game. You can definitely tell he is having to re-train his entire way of thinking and playing and it just sucks that this wasn’t already taught to him. He know doubt is a gunslinger at heart and it makes me nervous that he won’t be able to truly change enough to be a CONSISTENTLY GOOD quarterback in today’s NFL. After watching him for 16 games you can see that he has talent, but I think we need to be realistic about his true ceiling and his true floor. His ceiling isn’t as high as people want to tell themselves compared to what I see other QBs doing in the league, and his floor is very low.

MY BOYS! Happy Winter Solstice. Off topic, but we’re in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat this evening, as Jupiter and Saturn are doing a planetary dance that will result in the Great Conjunction today, December 21, just after sunset. When and where to look up, how to photograph the conjunction, and more information are available at the following NASA website: https://nasa.tumblr.com/post/637859420873818112/the-great-conjunction-of-jupiter-and-saturn.
I want the Broncos to improve their draft position, but I also want continuity on the coaching staff for 2021, so how can the Broncos lose to two divisional opponents in their final two games while not getting Vic Fangio & Co. fired? I don’t want a new head coach unless paired with a new GM, and we know that John Elway isn’t going anywhere until the ownership fiasco is sorted out. Have a magical Monday looking up at the sky this evening. DNVRMY SALUTE!
World of Suck
Pending SNF, Drew Lock’s QBR is 17th in the league for week 15, coming in at 65.7. Thats good for the 5th highest rating of his career. The trend is still moving in the right direction with four of the five best QBR game grades of his career coming in his last four starts.
In the last four starts, by QBR, Drew has come in at #9, #11, #3, and #17. Those are very, very healthy numbers for a QB who hasn’t even started and finished 16 NFL games yet.
Call me an eternal optimist if you wish, but his bad games are getting better. The problem with Drew has never been his ceiling being too low, it’s been concern that his floor is too low. This week was an indicator to me that his floor may be rising. Only time will tell.
Two more games to go for Drew this year. I can’t wait to see what happens.
jmoneysteck97
Hey RK and Zack, I think we need to have a talk about that bills game. Nobody thought that the broncos would beat the bills. nobody. This game was a test for Lock. To see if he could take a great game against a bad defense, and have another decent game against a good team. He failed spectacularly. The bills helped him out by dropping two pick sixes, and he still only had 132 passing yards on 32 passing attempts, Im not even sure how that is possible. Especially when we were down by 2+ scores for a large chunk of the game. This game was all about Lock and how he would follow up a great week against a better opponent. Well, he was bad, sure he’s not the biggest reason why we lost, but he was definitely number two, and he played bad. Lock just has way too many really bad games this year, If Elway goes into 2021 with no additions to the QB room its a major problem.
love the pod, keep it up.
