Fellas,
While I agree with the move to have Kubiak call plays, I don’t agree it’s as drastic as you think. As you said, Kubiak, the passing game coordinator, is the only one with experience. Can we all agree Hackett’s design and opening game plans have been decent. His contribution to that effort could still remain. Hackett’s weakness has been making mid game adjustments and closing a game out. Let Kubiak execute the plan and then focus on adapting to the game as it unfolds. Outten’s job remains the same (administrative support/meeting facilitation of the offense). Kubiak still focuses on QBs. There’s no need to fire someone, just shift game day responsibilities. Daboll gave up play calling when he went to the Giants? Saleh gave up defensive play calling when the Jets were 2-5 last year. Changing things up doesn’t have to mean complete failure occurred, it can mean trying to find what works. Our expectation that people get everything perfect the first time is ridiculous.
We got this! Go Broncos. All the best my friends. Ally for MVP.
Ps. O-line has to be THE priority in the off-season.

I was so excited to bring my daughter to her first ever Broncos game at Mile-High for her 10th birthday (picked the Cardinals game assuming stakes would be high in December..what a mistake that was). I’m also coming with my dad as well who is not doing well, most likely will be his last game at mile high (he grew up with season tickets in Denver). Very unfortunate this is the product my daughter will see for the first time and my dad will see for his last time. I am not even upset anymore…just Empathetic.. best believe I’m bringing a “Fire Hackett” sign with me.
All these issues with Russ are reminding me a lot of RG3. When he came into the league the Shanahans had designed an offense built around his abilities as a rusher that often asked him to be the pilot and not the plane. Then he decides that he needs to prove himself as a pocket passer and forces the coaching staffs hand insisting on running the Kirk Cousins offense, and he ends up turning into a shell of himself.
At this point I’m hoping he has some humility and understands that maybe the way Seattle was using him WAS in his best interest as a player. I don’t always love his personnel decisions, but Pete Carrol is not stupid and maybe he understood Russ’s limitations in a way that Hackett doesn’t at this point.

My boys,
Sport is cruel……..
In the last 5 weeks my teams….
Melbourne storm rugby league, eliminated week 1 by the lowest tanked team.
Sydney swans Aussie rules, obliterated 81 points in the grand final.
St Louis eliminated by Bryce Damn Harper and the Phillies
The great race, V8 supercars at the Bathurst 1000 (it’s massive down here) my team taken out by a rookie driver, car destroyed, race over.
And now Denver breaking hearts!
I think of the final words in The West Wing, Abbie Bartlet asks Jed, “what are you thinking of”
He replies “tomorrow”

What’s up DNVR crew
Frequent listener (everyday) and irregular commenter. Atleast on here anyway…
I think the Broncos offensive coaches took the whole, let Russ cook thing literally. He’s getting burnt out there.
Which brings me to my question.
Is and do you think bringing back Mike Munchak would be a good move? This year all I’ve seen from the O line is a constant decline and no progression.
We know these men can play better because we’ve seen it under different leadership.
Thanks everyone at DNVR for all the amazing content you provide for us listeners. You all make our days a little more positive.
Cheers, Zack

Hi fellas,
The headline of the show yesterday was about the Broncos getting back on track…I just cannot see how starting Ryp accomplishes this. What track are we getting back on with him exactly?
I feel like the glimpses of goodness we’ve seen from this offense are enough to keep my hopes afloat. Numbeez, I’m concerned! You’re usually the optimistic one and I feel like you’ve been the most negative pretty much all season…are you good my guy?
PS still can’t to see you guys in Nashville here soon.
Mrs. Quill
Look, everyone with eyes can see that Albert O cannot block to save his life. But don’t you guys think there HAS to be a way for Hackett to still get value out of him? Just bring him in on obvious passing downs and red zone opportunities? Or line him up like a WR? He has at least flashed some playmaking ability and we are desperately in need of playmaking.

This drifts into conspiracy theory but I am wondering: did Paton know Hackett would struggle?
If we hadn’t landed Wilson we would be in the hunt for a draft pick next season. Throwing a young coach to the wolves to boost your draft capital seems like a decent long term move.
At the very least I get the sense that Paton was willing to take a big gamble on this season. Best case he comes out of the season with the coach and the QB. Worst case he comes out with neither, draft capital, and Walmart money to buy a new coach.
