Sean Payton and Nathaniel Hackett took very different approaches to preparing the Denver Broncos for an NFL season. Last year, Hackett focused on rest to prevent the Broncos from injury. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Denver was still the most injured team in the NFL with many significant players, from Randy Gregory to Javonte Williams to Justin Simmons, all suffering major injuries. This year, Payton is taking a much different approach. Is Payton’s way better for the team entering the 2023 NFL season? The fellas discuss as the Broncos begin their offseason workout program. Additionally, would Maryland offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan be a good pick for the Broncos in the 2023 NFL Draft?

Zac! I missed commenting on the big day, but for your happy birthday I went back and liked your last 30 tweets. Thought you’d enjoy continuing to do them NUMBIEZ!
I have a Sean Payton/Russ conspiracy theory; I think Sean doesn’t want to be typecast as the “short QB Coach”. When there is a new short guy on the draft board, everyone jumps to the “Well Drew Brees did it and he’s short” narrative.
SP has a history of having a dynamic offense, so I wonder if he’d prefer to have a prototypically sized QB. I don’t buy that he thinks Russ is washed mentally, with last season’s disaster being the sample size.
There have been a few deals and trades this offseason that seem to be pretty cheap deals for the players they’re for. Do we think that George Paton is possibly aware or in on all of them, or do things just kind of happen and take other GMs by surprise?
Cheers,
A.L.

Fellas,
Would Mark Ingram be a good guy to bring to training camp?

Hey dudes!
I have a two-parter after your conversation yesterday about going from the coaching styles of Vic to Hackett to Payton. Firstly, realistically how much of a detriment was Vic’s hard-nosed, no-nonsense, grinding coaching style if at all? Did it really impact the players for the worst at all? Secondly, would you consider Sean’s similar no-nonsense style to be detrimental or impactful to the players as well? Personally I don’t think so, but we’ve seen both a serious and a fun coaching style fail miserably so I’m just wondering how Sean Payton will avoid this with his coaching style.
Cheers,

Come to think of it, I guess the Broncos never respected Dre’Mont.
They didn’t draft him.
They didn’t refuse to trade him in the Russ deal.
They didn’t see his play/production decline when Chubb was traded..
They definitely didn’t see the writing on the wall with his comments about wanting to get paid…
Or did they?

What’s up guys!
Just wanted to see what y’all thought about the Jeff Okuda trade. For a 5th round pick I think we should have been in on him. I know he has been up and down in Detroit but he has never played beside a true number 1 corner like ps2. Detroit asked him to be a number 1 and couldn’t do it but I feel like pairing him with ps2 on one side would have been perfect. He was a top 5 pick for reason. For a 5th round pick I don’t feel like we could draft someone with as much upside. What do you guys think?
