Hey boys. R.K., 2 daze, sweet. I enjoyed your banter after my comment as always, it’s fun to help keep you guys engaged. NO NO NO, no post game pod would have been hell on earth after that 27 year debacle, thank you 2 for the pod as always and Mase being in Orchard Park to provide the Bills perspective. H:)ppy Thanksgiving week to all the DNVR family! 🙂 Love, Tommy Lewis and Mrs. Iceman

Every week we see speed wide receivers burning up secondaries in the NFL (most notably our own).
Yet, the Broncos have failed to draft/sign any of note.
And then poorly utilise any speed weapons they do have with by passing to them behind the line of scrimmage. This is just one facet of the Broncos ineptitude that has plagued me for years.
Blah!

To the Broncos’ credit, they were very much ‘in’ on John Brown and John Ross. Things just didn’t work out. Plus John Brown signed a huge deal in Buffalo. He’s balling out, sure but I ain’t paying him $9m/per year when the QB question hasn’t been answered.

Can Fangio stop playing with our damn emotions and just start Drew freakin Lock already!!! How hard is it to say “yes Brandon Allen sucks, we are starting Drew Lock”?! I’m with RK, I’m going to absolutely lose it if Brandon Allen gets the starts again. I do have a question though, is there a chance Simmons gets his extension soon, because he’s getting better and better which means his contract is getting bigger and bigger. Also what is the likelyhood that CHJ is getting resigned? Since he’s not playing his normal self you would think his contract price would go down.
Thanks guys and stay safe in that snow storm

Hey DNVR fam!
Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m taking a college English class right now and my final project is to write an essay about a community that you belong to and interacting within that community. I of course chose to write a paper on the DNVR Broncos community! Hats off to you guys for creating such an amazing family!

I gotta say, I don’t really understand those who say that Elway should’ve drafted Josh Allen rather than Bradley Chubb. Allen looked pretty good on Sunday, but he’s still faaaar from a sure thing. The Bills are 8-3 right now, but they have six wins against teams standing in the top 5 of draft order right now (Yeah… 6 games against the 5 worst NFL teams…and that includes us)
That means they are only 2-3 against the best 27 teams in the league. And those other two wins? The Jets and the Mariota-led Titans. The Bills are a decent team. They can beat the teams they’re supposed to beat, so that’s it.
The only truly good team the Bills have played is New England. In that game, Josh Allen threw for 150 yards, 3 picks, 0 touchdowns and a sub-50% completion percentage.
Josh Allen is *not* a franchise QB. If he was playing in Denver, our record would probably be somewhere between 3-8 and 5-6 and fans would be getting restless.
At the end of the day, Allen and Lock were similar quality prospects coming out of college, but Allen went #7 overall and Lock went 42nd. If Elway drafted Allen at #5 last year, he doesn’t draft Lock at #42 this year. So if you’re asking me, I’d rather have Bradley Chubb and Drew Lock than just Josh Allen. Broncos fans need to stop with this Josh Allen nonsense!
Asking for a friend
Does it seem like Fangio wants things one way while someone else is telling him otherwise? (A.k.a #7?)
Will getting a bowlen back in control be a positive thing? Has “the trust” ben at fault the last few years?
MissouriBronco
I think the trust has been disastrous. I think if Pat is still alive and well, John Elway is not the general manager today.
MissouriBronco
Extremely hot take.

Don’t cut your toes, but you can join me in remorse that we did not go after Lamar Jackson. The dude is BALLIN.
Broncology
In my opinion, he better do it fast. QBs of his play style don’t stay on top long. Get your rings while your young and try to stay off ir when your older
Watching the ravens domination tonight and, I can’t help but think of how crazy the combo of Phil and Lamar would be had he chose to go to Baltimore (even tho I hate the thought of him not a bronco.)
Ps. I’m considering starting to cut off a toe for each week Lock doesn’t play going forward.
Well first off my favorite thanksgiving dish is my moms potato dish. Chopped up potatoes covered in cheese, bacon, scallops, and drenched in ranch baked in the oven, gotta love Texas! Secondly, the thought of Drew Lock starting this week makes me feel more excited than when a drunk cougar slapped my but from behind when I went to a honky tonk for the first time when I was 18 lol between the Broncos and Longhorns having an embarrasing season once again Drew starting is my only hope to not feel dead inside anymore. They have made me feel like I made my parents feel my whole childhood, not mad just disappointed. I can think of more than 75 reasons to start him this week
MissouriBronco
My God, we passed on Lamar Jackson. Watching him blowing out the Rams right now. So many missed opportunities.
I have decided to go with the annual membership now and save a little cash (remember, college student lol). I’m trying to decide between the Von GOAT shirt and the DNVR one with all the different team logos. Which do you guys recommend?
A note about yesterday: While I didn’t check the score until hours later, I jumped on the postgame pod upon release. It’s more fun to be with you guys than watch the team! Remember RK, we’re looking at the same moon 😉

I wish we had drafted Lamar Jackson – oh, wait he wouldn’t work in our scheme and we wouldn’t create a scheme for him. Why oh why do the broncos insist on running the backwater scheme they do? I’m eternally confused by this.
Did the Broncos even have Jackson high on their board? What was a scenario in which they could have gotten him?
The image of Mase looking at the weather (by virtue of noticing the flag’s horizontality) the morning of the Buffalo game is priceless – nothing gets by this guy. Nothing

Hey guys!
If you don’t like turkey, you haven’t had it cooked properly. There’s a secret to it: butterfly it. Rip the spine/back rib cage out and spread the bird out on a baking tray. Suddenly your 5-6 hour cook time is cut down to an hour to and hour and a half. Way easier to keep the meat moist. Also, since it’s that time of year, what’s your favorite side at Thanksgiving?
With the long delay on the debut of Lock, your article from April about Lock’s competitive edge and villainous mentality has been eating at me. Are they waiting to start him in KC, much like what Andy Reid did with Patrick Mahomes? I realize how ridiculous it sounds. But imagine his first career start, at the stadium he grew up going to, antagonizing the fans he was raised among, doing the tomahawk in the end zone for his first touchdown, “being the supervillain he was meant to be”. Strategically, it’d be idiotic to throw him into a buzzsaw like that… but is that what they’re waiting for?
MarkITsnatch
Also, will the chant be “We Want Lock” or his chant from college that’s oddly vulgar and appropriate for a bronco?
ChicagoBronco86
Hi guys. I’m curious what quarterbacks in this draft you would feel are worth it in the top 10 with Drew Lock already on the roster.
Obviously if he’s terrible it becomes an absolute necessity, and if he lights it up qb is off the board. However it seems the most likely scenario is he shows flashes but also looks like a rookie so you have to evaluate him against available guys in the draft.
I’ve heard a lot of people on other sites argue that since he’s a second round pick he has a lower chance of succeeding than if you take a guy in the first this year. However with Burrow likely a Bengal and Tua having major injury concerns I’m not sure there will be anyone I’d like enough to forego a top left tackle or cb paired with Lock (I’d probably take Tua if The medical staff was confident in his full recovery). And I firmly disagree that taking a guy you don’t believe in in the first round somehow makes him more likely to succeed. Curious where you all stand, thanks!

Fellas, first, i hope Drew gets the nod this week. Brandon Allen is a 40% completion guy, that is who he is, no need to see more of him. Lets get Drew out there. Though, I suspect due to the limitations of this offense, he will struggle greatly. Second, watching what the Ravens have done w/Lamar Jackson has really made me rethink who/what can be successful in this league. I am huge Bama fan, and I never thought for 3.5 years that Jalen Hurts would be an NFL qb. But, now I am convinced that if someone took him and built an offense around him like Lamar Jackson he could be just as good. It would be different as he is more of a power runner, but he has a stronger arm I think. I know the Broncos will never think outside the box like this, but shouldn’t they look to take a top olinemen. I would consider the gaurd from Tennessee or tackle from Georgia, then trade back up and take Jalen. I just can’t shake the feeling that as long as Denver runs the offense as is, no matter who is at qb they will not be given the best chance at success.

Mase, I fully agree with you on your Jameis take!
Off field issues aside- and lord know he has a ton- he’d be a great example of a bridge QB with high upside. This is a guy whose football IQ was compared to Peyton Manning in the pre-draft process. Very intelligent guy who makes poor decisions on/off the field, but to his credit, his coaches haven’t exactly been disciplinarian types. (I’m sure Mase is aware of Dirk Koetter’s history at ASU in particular)
I know Vic has a little ‘players coach’ in him, but gotta imagine that Vic can keep him on the straight and narrow. As the team hands over the reins to the youth movement, I think having a ‘veteran’ who’s still young enough to relate to the core of the team, isn’t a bad idea at all.
Also, is it time to finally put the ‘they should’ve kept Wade’ take to rest after last night’s beatdown? As bad as the Bills game felt while it was happening, they left the game with all of 20 points. Vic might never become the franchise HC, but he’s definitely running a better defense than Wade is.

Well it was bound to happen. After months of hearing it over and over again, and enjoying every single moment of it. It happened.
Yesterday, in a meeting with my team, someone said “well and we can probably go to, say, maybe – 75%?”
And what did I do?
I banged the table, and exclaimed…..
“!SeVeNTy fIVE!”
Yes. This really did happen.
You can tell Steve Atwater his great film reference has gone viral to the point it’s infiltrated the meeting of banks in Australia!

(1) re turkey: fry it! Crispy skin, juicy meat. It’s so much better than dry oven-roasted turkey. Plus, you get the added excitement of wondering whether you’re going to have something explode in your [kitchen/garage/driveway]
(2) Is Scangarello on the hot seat? Lord knows he should be—he’s supposed to be the offensive mastermind and the offense has been [insert adjective here]. If he is on the hot seat, why on earth would he want to stick with Allen?
PastorRhett
I’ll keep it shortish.
If Andrew Stephen Lock starts for the Denver Broncos this week I believe it will be because Elway circled week 13 in August and has strived to get there with as little fan base incredulity as possible.
It’s always been wk 13.

This team is on the verge of severely damaging its faith with broncos country. Take Dell for example. They were stuck in there ways for so long that investors started looking for other avenues to invest in. Dells competitors changed as the industry changed to take the necessary risks to get a leg up on each other. Meanwhile Dell said, “no. We are content with our system because itll work itself out. It has to.” At that moment their stocks plummeted to the point that dell was forced to become a private entity. Painting the picture that it lost the faith of the people. Hmmm, feels like the broncos.
Now take volkswagon, they were biding there time as nothing was working to increase their relevancy. Then they realized they had a big fish that would change their whole landscape. In comes Porsche, announcing they are invested in big time with volkeswagon, becoming a primary shareholder. Once that happened, everyone bought in and made them one of the richest entities in a day.
Will the executives let drew lock be the Porsche that gets everyone invested in this team? Not only the fans, but the players that want to prove hes the one that will finally turn the tide? Or are they the executives at Dell that are stuck with there beliefs that will force this broncos team to their untimely demise?

Todays pathetic stat of the day: the Broncos averaged 4.8 inches per play on their last five drives against Buffalo.
VilcaDan
Good morning guys. I would like to send you and the fam best wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Enjoy the snow!
As I sit here looking out the window at my lush tropical paradise while listening to the pod, a few things came to mind I wanted to address.
First – Drew Lock. No question, just felt compelled to say the name.
Second – I recall the story out of Miami after we signed James that people in their organization were laughing at us for signing him. The story in Sports Illustrated contained this quote:
Sports Illustrated ranked the best and worst five signings from the first week of the 2019 free agency period and James’ record-setting deal with the Broncos took the “top” spot.
“Privately, some people close to the Dolphins waited to see who signed James with the same eager anticipation with which you wait to see who sits on the seat with the whoopie cushion.”
Do you think there was an existing medical problem we didn’t correctly evaluate, or could it be the guy doesn’t have the mental and emotional grit to handle getting out there and doing his job? I ask because you say he’s medically cleared and Vic has brought it up in reference to both James and Drew.
Lastly – Listening to you talk about punters, one thing keeps coming to mind: the English expression “Penny wise and pound foolish.” They pay huge sums to guys who can’t get on the field, like the aforementioned James, Callahan, etcetera, and try to balance the books by letting go of competent kickers because, well, they’re just kickers – a dime a dozen. Someone easily replaced by a J.A.G. who has a foot at the end of his leg and can kick the ball into a net. Anybody can do it, right? I cringe when I watch Wadman shank yet another punt thinking, “We had Colquitt, bought the King hype, and now we have this.” You remember Colquitt right? Almost 800 punts with a 45.5 yard average and a long of 79? We fired him for a shiny new toy and here we are. Kickers are like that really tasty, organic condiment in your frig that cost a few cents more than the generic brand, but when you break down how much more per serving you’re spending, you realize how ridiculous it is trying to save money there. Stop going cheap. Make special teams just that, special.
And for all those about to lose their lives to make ours better (I’m talking turkeys here), thank you for your sacrifice. Amen
PoperDink
What a pathetic performance from our guys. This reminded me of a game in 2009 vs WSH. Orton got hurt in the game and Chris Simms came in and the offense just died. I think he had -3 yards passing in the half he played. It’s time for Lock to get out there. I’m tired of bad/Terrible Quarterbacking. Also I may be wrong but did Chris Harris get burned by John Brown? It seems like he is losing a step or two this season. Honestly it seemed like they kinda gave up in the game and that’s why John Brown got soooooo open. If Allen is starting next week I’m going to microwave my head. Thank you for listening to my rant.
YetiRoar
From yesterday:
Guys……who exactly is calling the shot here with playing or not playing Lock, is it Elway or Fangio? Cuz there’s some serious blame to be handed down on how awfully they’re mismanaging Lock, I truly feel bad for him, who knows what this insanity is doing to him mentally. The IR situation should have never happened, look at how the Saints handled Brees, and he had SURGERY!! Now the team is being noncommittal about even activating him to the 53 or giving him more practice reps! You said yourself he needs more practice but you won’t give him the reps!! Am I going crazy here?
If the kid ever was a legitimate possible starting NFL qb, he might not even believe he is for much longer. Did Elway just draft Lock to keep the fans off his back to hedge his bet on Flacco, but when Flacco utterly failed he really didn’t have a back-up plan?? What the F is the plan, the fans at this point deserve to know? Was Flacco all a stunt to ensure the broncos would tank because Elway believes in this qb class more than last year? I can’t make heads or tails of any of this….
Broncology
Respectfully, I’d like to run this draft idea by you guys.
Why don’t we use our first pick on the best O lineman available, and then trade back into, say the top 20 and choose another offensive lineman. This would give us two amazing guys to pair with risner and set our O line for many years and give lock the protection he needs.
We could finish the draft with cb, wr, and dl.
Thoughts?
I would never question another persons fandom. But I can never root for my team to lose. Just can’t do it. I know theoretically more losses means a higher draft pick, which means better players. However, it seems like the same teams draft in the back half of each round every year and hit on players. It’s not always about where are you draft. It’s about identify needs and talent. I want the Broncos to win. Every week.
Whether the draft or FA, what is the biggest need on offense (let’s assume Lock is starter in 2020). Would it be offensive line or receiver?
Horsewithhorns
What do you guys see as the realistic ceiling for Lock?
Who can you compare him to currently playing? Some say Stafford like but will that be good enough.
Also it’s a bit after the event but Rivers? I would rather have Joan Rivers taking snaps and she is dead!!
Thanks guys
chriswhipp
Mase,
Wait for it…………………………………………………………………………………………….

KentuckyUDFA
Probably too late but I heard Mase’s love for Aussie punters yesterday and wanted to get his thoughts on Kentucky’s punter Max Duffy, the man is unbelievable. Also wanted to say I haven’t been commenting on this pod due to my frustration level with how the season has gone and don’t feel a need to pile on when everything has already been said and asked about. As always love what you guys do, Go Broncos, Go Wildcats, beat Louisville…
KentuckyUDFA
Oh! Made, you guys have talked about the type of receiver we need to draft being a slot guy, how do you feel about Lynn Bowden from UK? He’s had to become our QB this year so his receiving numbers are basically nonexistent but I believe his versatility and toughness are qualities we could definitely use on the Broncos and we could probably get him late 2nd round/early 3rd based on the WR depth in this years class.
