Hey there team!
Ironically, back a couple years I asked if we needed to still draft or develop a QB backup plan, given previous lessons learned.
Unfortunately, I think I was right, and that we should always be looking to get a resource cheap ‘roll of the dice’ QB, pretty much every year, regardless of the status of the position. Names like Kirk Cousins, Tom Brady, Trevor Siemian, and Brock Purdy support this.
Everyone has their favorite solution to our perennial QB problem. Move all the way up if we have to. Get another vet QB in. But for my money, you need to have multiple shots EVERY year at the most important position in sports.
I’ll take Brock Purdy upside for Chad Kelly risk levels any day of the week. I’d take Josh Allen ceiling for Paxon Lynch floor. No doubt, one of these strategies costs less, but the important thing is we got scared of rolling the dice.
