I’m starting to think we’re getting Walmart-ed and all of our coaches will be replace by self checkout

Gday boys! My team in the Australian football league have sucked for almost 15 years. We stuffed up draft picks and fired coaches every other year. The broncos of the last 7 years has very much been deja vu. Last year we hired a new coach and 12 months later we have a window that could last 5 or more years. Our coach is a master in player management and welfare. He commands respect. Might not be the greatest with X’s and O’s, but realised this and hired assistants who are. The more podcasts I listen to and stories I read, the more I’m convinced that the Broncos have this opportunity. I never wanted a first time coach in this cycle, but I’ve gone a full 180. I want DeMeco Ryans! Everything about him to me oozes leadership. Respect. The old ‘I’d run through a wall’ for him. Surround him with experience, coaches we’ve heard about if someone like Quinn was to come, and I really think this is the move. This is my hope. Fingers crossed!!

Belated Happy Birthday Hank! The less famous Hank I referred to previously was Hank Hill, of the incomparable animated Mike Judge comedy ‘King of the Hills’.
The stakes are so high! With a great hire, Colorado could be the premiere football state west of the Mississippi.
Beyond that, with the Avs and Nuggets, we could become THE premiere major sports state in the country, and therefore, the world.
We saw the difference with a “CEO type” with Rosberg. How much of an upgrade could we possibly see to the “CEO-ness’ with the other candidates? At what point are the returns diminishing, where we just need X’s and O’s genius?

Regarding the coaching search, I’m with Aussie Dan. I’m all in on DeMeco Ryans. In the long term, he is going to be the best coach to come out of this cycle and I sure hope we are the beneficiaries.

A few weeks ago I said I was completely out on first time head coaches – you guys have convinced me otherwise. I still think having experience SOMEWHERE on the staff is essential.
Also yesterday’s pod is evidence of my last comment – were already in off-season mode and the Conference Championships haven’t even been played!

Sorry for the second comment but with Hackett being hired by the Jets today, I really don’t understand the evaluation process of coaches. Hackett (loved him as a person) was objectively horrible in Denver so how does he have a job, even if it’s a demotion?

Now the panthers are out on Payton and he has no second interviews. Did he blow the interviews or did he not want the job? I’m wondering if he’s got “character issues”.
Tin-foil hat, but what if his answer to the targeting scandal is “i’d do it again”. World has changed since then. Maybe he’s lost his touch or is out of touch.
Total speculation. What do you guys think?
