What’s a tougher way to beat the chef?‍? s?

Rush and Cover or
Drop into Zone?

And when is the NFL going to ban that offensive arm thing the crowd in KC does?

I am SO over the Batchelor!!!! Not from you guys or anything but this current season was filmed one street over from me out here in La Quinta, CA. The endless traffic from the lookyloos and nearly non stop talk and posts on social media about it about killed me!

In other news I agree with RK on John Ross. If you can get him for cheap I think you have to do it! Speed is speed. Ted Ginn had a decently high drop rate in his career but was still extremely productive through his career. Let’s also not forget he hasn’t exactly been in the greatest of spots with Cincinnati the last few years and barely any time with Burrow to develop any chemistry.

I’m also against giving up on DaeSean. He’s had some big drops yes, but his excellent route running has still put him in those positions to begin with. He seems like he just needs to get out of his head and play ball.

Hey fellas, hope all is well with each and everyone of you. I see teams around the league don’t physically try to impose their will on the chiefs. They get a little timid due to the weapons they posses, which is understandable but I feel like if the defense can be physical but stay disciplined on the back end and the offense sustains drives as they did against the Patriots, I see a legitimate shot of beating them. Once again guys thank you for bringing amazing content that y’all bring and I really admire that y’all are so involved with the listeners. Much love guys. Let’s go get that Dub Broncos Country.

Got to agree with the thought that you want to run and control the clock vs the Chiefs. There’s no better example of this than last year when the mediocre Colts led by Jacoby Brissett went into Arrowhead and embarrassed the Chiefs, holding Mahomes and the Chiefs to 13 points. Texans beat them with Carlos Hyde rushing for 100 yards too. I like Hyde but he’s not even close to the level of Lindsay or Gordon. Put 4 man pressure on Mahomes and run run run to win the game.

On another note, when listening to some fantasy podcasts they reminded me that Belichick and the Patriots scheme defensively to take away a team’s best weapon. Who was distinctly limited compared to what they would normally do and close to being taken away in this game, especially from a statistical perspective?

Drew Lock. I think taking this perspective makes Drew’s performance even a bit more impressive, knowing Belichick didn’t truly succeed in taking away our best weapon. I can’t say for sure this is what Belichick was thinking , but it tracks with how we know, or assume, he coaches. Or maybe he viewed Lindsay as our best weapon and just didn’t succeed in taking him away?

Hey guys!

1. In the tv world, the Real World was the original bubble

2. Sunday’s game was a glimpse at what could be, with a slap of reality. It showed what the potential of this offense can be when it’s firing on all cylinders, when all of the starters are healthy, and when it combines with the defense that Fangio was hired to bring. And we also saw what the team has been for the last few years: stalling drives, living and dying on special teams, and leaning on a stout defense to lead the way. We saw that the pieces are there, but aren’t affixed to the puzzle… Yet. It was uglier than a greased pig shrieking “take me out to the ball game” while shooting down a slip n slide, but a win in Foxborough is always a positive.

3. For Mr. B and Iceman

4. You don’t want to just ‘let’ Clyde Edwards-Hilare run the ball all day long, especially if his back up is a slightly washed Leveon Bell. While it keeps the ball out of Mahomes’ hands, you’re still going to get burned. If you can take away the screen and wheel routes on defense, and sustain long drives on offense, you’ll be in a better position to win. Gas their defense, limit the damage Hill and Kelce do in the air, and contain the run. Here’s to a snowbowl rematch

It’s 2am, you’ve just finished a big session on the breck brews at the bar, you’re walking home. You realise that you have a Vegemite sandwich in your pocket. Nice. You enjoy it, and keep stumbling along the pavement.

A figure appears. It sounds a lot like Dave Logan but is actually a small east European looking child in a cloak.

It stares at you. You stare back.

It raises one finger and says “you get one answer to seal your faint”.

You mumble something about Count Lockula, take a straw out of your pocket, and flick it at the figure before yelling loudly, “for iceman, man”.

The figure says;

“If Aj bouye is back this week, do you expect him to play a high percentage of snaps, and if so, does Ojmeudia start at the other CB position with Callahan int the slot? Sorry to scare you like this in the street, but I’m a long time subscriber and haven’t been able to get my phone or computer working to comment on the Pod. Go iceman, yeasty spreads, and Mases strange references to 6 toed cats”

You stare back at the figure and respond……

Its cliché but, the successful aggressive bomb after an interception is met by all media as a gutsy WOW play when it works and criticized when it meets the worst result possible. Nobody’s pounding the table talking trash about the play call if it nets 45yds immediately.

But, I digress. The real reason for my visit today is the very real possibility of catching the qweefs in base and trying to defend 12 personnel against Gordon or Lindsay motioned wide, with Fant & Albert-o on the field stressing the seams.

In your educated opinion what is the best way to success?

Good day sirs!

I’ve been listening to the pod for a couple of years now, and I’ve been a member since the membership drive when we picked host (I went with team Zac). You all always bring an hour + of fun to my day, and I just wanted to thank you.

No question just an observation on John Ross. From hotcars.com (https://www.hotcars.com/most-unreliable-sports-cars-ever-made/) Ross is a Ferrari F430 Here is the write up:
“The Italian manufacturer Ferrari is a worldwide automotive known for crunching out fast cars. And it didn’t disappoint with the Ferrari F430. This beauty with seductive body lines is certainly the fastest car in this list and can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 120 mph. It comes standard with a V-8 engine and 483 horsepower, and a starting price of $200,204. Whew! That’s one expensive car. But a high price tag is no guarantee for reliability.

The F430 motor mounts are known to fail regularly, and exhaust manifolds & exhaust brackets are prone to cracks. Also, some owners reported failing F1 transmission systems such as dropping out of gear or skipping gears.”

Just say no to Ross!

You guys were talking about play calling and I was wondering how the headsets are wired?

Is Shurmur telling drew the plays threw an open line while Vic and the rest of the coaches listen but doesn’t speak? Or?

The Key to beating the chiefs reminds me of 2015 cam newtons MVP year and Cam some how ends up in a shoot out with the New york Giants ….. And the Giants score with just over a minute left in the 4th quarter and the camera pans over to Cam and cam is shaking his head in agreement like ok …. I got this …and boom he does it in a clutch moment….. THERE IS NO FORMULA !!!!! IF anybody had one it was the 49ers by far the most talented defense they faced yet …. They lost , everyone whose beat them weren’t scared didn’t try formulas they competed !!! It’s on Drew ! And I saw it in drew when he played the chiefs last time and I saw it in drew In foxborough ….it just sucks because Courtland is that competitive Von is that competitive …..they will go.out there and play every snap.like.its their last to beat the chiefs ….. We only have Phil and Drew right now with that tenacity and they should be the captains and it’s up to them to keep them “locked in” …….I rewatch the all 22 film especially the ones PFF highlighted as catchable.passes and I think of drews press conference after the game and man …… HE GETS IT ! …he knew in his heart his guys can make those plays that’s why he gave them chance after chance to make them and he’ll do it again just like mahommes against the raiders gave his team multiple chances to win that game but penalties derailed it ……. I’m saying this to say I’m #LOCKEDIN ITS LOCKTOBER ….. I believe in my team and drew and Phil ( WHO NEEDS TO BE THE STARTER 60-40 PHIL WHY WON’T THEY SEE THIS !!) I hope they lead this team to victory and if they lose???? Lose knowing u gave it everything u got but don’t fold and don’t be like oh that’s mahommes respect him but don’t fear him I’m tried of losing to the chiefs and I’m tired of the how do you beat the chiefs rhetoric it’s simple U have to compete until the clock is 0 in the 4th quarter because Mahommes will do the same

Hello gentlemen,

Can you guys provide some insight on what has changed with Garrett Boles? Is it Munchak’s coaching? Did he just mature a bunch during the offseason? Did he finally figure out what holding was? Is he working harder?

With the risk of jinxing it, why has he been so good this year? If he continues to play this well it is not out of the realm of possibility that he makes the Pro-Bowl. What has happened??

Thanks again for everything you do; stay happy and healthy.

Hey gents,

First, we had the feel-good song in the DNVR bar. Next, we had the fire up the locker room tune. But now, on this edition of the new weekly segment ‘Scenario-specific songs’, it’s time to turn up.

You’re at a party, the Breck brews are flowing and everyone is having a good time, but it’s time to turn it into a night no-one will ever forget, and the DJ has asked you for the next song to kickstart the evening. What are you playing to get everyone on the dance floor and take this party from a B minus to an A plus?

What’s ups fellas! Do you guys see us bringing Tim Patrick back next year, with his recent performances (assuming he keeps it up) it feels like Patrick’s price tag is going nowhere but up. What does that mean for his future with the team? Also do you think Tyrie Cleveland starts seeing the field more with Hamilton’s underwhelming performances? Thanks fellas, yah boiii Wildcard!

Greetings Pod Gods!
Just a few silver linings to everything that has happened to our Broncos so far.
1. With losing lock for 2 weeks and Phil for more, the Chiefs have almost no tape to study to see the full offensive plan, especially if Fant can return. They have less than a half to study of Drew with Melvin and Phil.
2. The Chiefs have mostly been at full strength. So while there are always surprises with Andy Reid, there is also 6 full games for Fangio to dissect.
3. The rescheduling may have set up a tough slate for the Broncos but I believe that adversity will strengthen them. They are now looking at 3 division games in the next 4 weeks. Followed by the now Tua lead Dolphins. These are the next QB’s they face. Mahomes, Herbert, Matt Ryan, Carr and then Tua. A great mix of styles for the Defense to prove themselves and gain confidence leading into Tua’s 3rd game. I would much rather lose to Mahomes but bring that energy to Herbert and Tua, rather than lose to 2 rookies.
4. Despite the team being on a season high, the national perspective is as low as ever on the Broncos. And that just leads to fantastic upsets on the back of some motivated underdogs.
Keep up the great work fellas. Sunday afternoon cannot come soon enough.

[PLEASE say these first two words with your best Obi-wan voice]
Hello, there.

I’m in a very Star-Warsy mood today, and just needed to hear that.

Anyways, I want to share keys to the game and see if you guys agree.

1. Big Defensive plays. AT LEAST 4 sacks and 2 turnovers
2. Score on >50% of offensive drives
3. Don’t allow big plays on defense
4. Chew clock

False keys:

1. 3rd down defense
2. Hitting big plays on offense (multiple 20+ yd plays)

RK, I’m glad you liked the Resolution beer you had recently, but whoever sold you it should be ashamed of selling you year old beer! But just goes to show that Breck brews truly are timeless.

For Broncos related things, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about this Chiefs games. Maybe I’m riding high from beating the Pats, liquid courage, or hope, I smell at least a competitive game. Go Broncos, Iceman, and DNVR

MY BOYS! The Broncos had zero accepted defensive or offensive penalties against Patriots. They had two accepted penalties on special teams, with one being an intentional delay of game. The Broncos are currently the fifth least penalized team in the NFL. In 2019, the Broncos were 19th in that category. In 2018, the Broncos were 31st in the league in penalties. In 2017, they were 24th. In 2016, they were 27th. Even during the Peyton Manning Era, the Broncos were a highly penalized team. Those teams finished as the 20th (2012), 28th (2013), 21st (2014), and 19th (2015) most penalized in the league. The jury is still out on Vic Fangio, but one of the reasons I wanted the Broncos to hire him was to instill more discipline for a team with little margin for error. In two seasons, Fangio has markedly improved the Broncos with respect to cutting down on penalties. Should fans, and the media, be lauding Fangio more for the discipline that he has instilled in this team? Have a wonderful Wednesday. DNVRMY SALUTE!

Hey folks, I haven’t commented for a while, but as always, I’m enjoying the work at DNVR.

I did some research this morning, looking at how many points the Broncos are allowing compared to those opponents’ season averages against other opponents. If you look at all 5 games, we’re holding teams to 5 points below their season average. If you eliminate the Jets game as an outlier, because it was, it would be 12 points. If you look at only the two Drew Lock games, when the defense had the advantage of complementary football, the number rockets up to 18 points.

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, but fellas, we are witnessing the great defensive prowess of Vic Fangio. With the barrage of injuries Fangio has dealt with, we’ve got to put some respect on his name. He is doing an excellent job coaching this depleted defensive unit.

Unfortunately… I don’t think the defense is gonna help all that much on Sunday. You can’t slow down the Chiefs’ offense. You’ve got to score points on SEVENTY-FIVE percent of your possessions and post some long drives to allow the defense to rest. We’ll see if Drew Lock can do it. Derek Carr did!

Win or lose, I look forward to riding with DNVR!
