Hey guys! We are living in
a world of suck but that can quickly change this weekend. I just wanted to pop in and give my takes on Hackett. He has the worst parts of fangio and the worst parts of scangarello. Unlike Vic fangio Hackett is not stubborn so I think the time management problems will be fixed. But I am not sure about his play calling ability. I just get the feeling he is playing checkers while the greats coaches like Andy Reid play chess. Yesterday you guys said to get the screen game going against the 49ers but that defense is too discipline. I don’t think it will consistently work like it did with the Seahawks better to just get the short passing game going even though it is not really Russ play style.

Hey guys,
Got a kick out of hearing the “that’s not true!” response, especially from you Hank, to the redzone 0 for 18 passing stat I pointed out yesterday! You guys figured it out though. 0 scores. Russ is 8 for 18 total passing in the red zone. But that actually drops to 1 for 7 inside the 5. So would you believe we have only run the ball 4 times while in the redzone? And all of them have come inside the 5. I find that crazy, but it’s true! Obviously 2 resulted in fumbles which were out of the shotgun formation and after reviewing both games again multiple times I’ve only seen Beck in on 2 plays inside the 5 and both were the fade passes to Courtland.

So here would be my simple solutions which I believe will have our Redzone offense looking great!
1) Pratice a toe drag drill for pass catchers and emphasize it a lot! If Courtland and the TE’s drag that second foot we have TD’s instead of incomplete passes, and would be 2-0.
2) Put Beck in at FB and run the ball to the outside with Javonte. The first run of both games have been 9 yard outside runs. Hoping to see that call this week! Believe if called it will lead to a walk in TD!

So quick trivia question for you guys that I find somewhat related. Who was the first NFL team to play an entire game that went to overtime without a single penalty? And who was the coach?
Thank you all for your continued great coverage, and helping me vent some frustration this week! Let’s actually Ride this Sunday! Go Broncos!

Hint: Ring of Fame

Answer: 2006 Broncos vs Chiefs, Final Score: 9-6, Mike Shannahan!

Let’s move on to this week’s game, shall we? Enough has been said about last week. Zac, I respect you sticking to your guns and eventually coming back around to the Numbeez we know and love.
Everything about this game sets up perfectly for Russ – the national (and frankly local) narrative, an old division rival, primetime, it should be awesome!
My question for today: who will be the surprise hero of the game? Perhaps K’Waun Williams breaking on a pass from his old friend Jimmy GQ and taking it to the house?

My gents,

Am catching up on pods. I hope Zac has a great time in Europe. On a separate note, I’m excited for This Hank Guy to join up. I feel like I’ve seen him before.

How many Zac’s would it take to dead lift Billy Turner?

Fellow Bronconians…. Everybody seriously needs to calm down with these overreactions. I’ve seen a lot of people already saying Wilson is washed, go look at Mannings stats his first two games here and compare them to Wilson. Neither are great by any means it just shows that he has time. It’s gonna get better. Penalties and redzone offense will pick up. Go broncos!

Fellas!

I certainly underestimated the challenge of getting a good, juicy comment in as a new dad! Seems like we have a lot of babies coming or already here in DNVR country, I’m excited for all of us! Arvada Luke Jr. arrived during halftime of the Bills-Rams game, so it seems she’s a bona-fide football fan! We also came home to the last thing I had been listening to, the DNVR Broncos pod!

A rapid fire hot take sesh that I just have to get off my chest:

-The calls for Hackett’s job after week 2 (really day 2) are ASININE. If you are rooting for institutional chaos, lack of patience, and a general disregard for continuity of leadership, there is a franchise in Ohio that would love to have you.

-I’d much rather have a good playcaller that needs to learn a bit of clock management than an incapable playcaller who calls the *perfect* timeout. Who gives a crap if we get zero penalties on offense if we’re only going to put up 13 points a game, like we have the previous 6 years.

– I feel like many fans think this is more of the same, forgetting the obvious and visible commitment of this staff to learning and improving. They KNOW that they are a young, new staff. Hottest take – We will finish this season on a MINIMUM of a 7 game win streak.

Cheers, keep the optimism pumping, and don’t be afraid of a bar,

In light of KJ’s injury history and the state of our WR depth, do you think it’s time to maybe fast-track Montrell Washington on offense? He looks great with the ball in his hands so far and was inches away from making a huge play in the pass game last week.

I know there’s always apprehension with getting young guys involved, especially given his draft position, but I have a hard time imagining that Trell won’t end up being the guy KJ was SUPPOSED to be in this offense.
