Fellas,

There are certain things that franchise QB’s all have. For me there is one big one that I haven’t seen from Drew. He needs to be able to go out and put up a good performance when his “swag” isn’t there. If you want to be the guy a team builds around you have to, much like in a long marriage, be able to perform when you just aren’t in the mood. If I can see that mixed with meeting expectations in a consistent basis, we will most likely be set at QB.

How say you?

Happy Tuesday everyone!
A couple of things to start out with, is Pronce Amukamara still a free agent? It seems like he would be a good guy to bring in given his familiarity with Fangios system and our recent injuries at CB. Now that we have seen the season for the most part who are you taking; Henry Ruggs or KJ Hamler? Hope y’all are staying positive and testing negative

I’d love to give the Lock-Rypien duo a fair chance, but if I had to throw a hat into the hedge Olympics, I would nominate Jacoby Brissett as tribute. It’s my understanding that Jacoby Burger is in the final year of his contract. What say you’s guys?!

My boys! I haven’t commented in awhile but I will try to make this fast! You asked who would take on Carson wentz contract? The name of the team? The Indianapolis Colts. With Frank Reich having the most success with Wentz under him in philly, and Phillip rivers wife forcing him to retire soon to help take care of his 46 kids. It seems like the perfect match. (Sorry not broncos but just my thoughts on the situation)
Game of the year last night, Ravens Vs browns made me have two main thoughts. 1. What things can baker do that lock can’t, physically as a QB? It just seems to me like not much but baker with good coaching and time to learn has progressed Immensely, I loved watching him hurry up and hike the ball to force the ravens to call a timeout instead of getting 12 man on the field penalty. Incredible growth from baker! I think Lock can do something similar.
2. Watching those 2 running backs (Chubb and hunt) help baker is so much what I wanted in Phillip and Gordon. I’ve come around to something that may get hate but I want a RB in the second or third round This year, a guy like nick chubb and Jonathan Taylor in round 2?!?! I want that! I love phill, but I want that bruiser with burst like Royce was supposed to be! Keep phill of corse, but I think that position can be upgraded without paying 8 million a year, and I just don’t see Melvin getting a second contract from us, sorry for the long one. You guys are the best. Thanks y’all!

It really did seem like Drew was working through his progressions on Sunday against Carolina. He may have the heart of a horse but he also has the patience of a crocodile. Drew Lock has croc clock! ?⏰?

I want to apologize to all of Broncos Country for my absence on Sunday, that Pizza on Saturday night got me good..

Anyway, I wanna talk about my boy Ja’Wuan James. Most of Broncos Country seems to write James off as someone who is not going to be here in 2022, but I still think he can still be something here in Denver. His contract as of now is bad, but he’s still a pro-bowl caliber tackle when healthy. I believe he can make his money back in his bounce back year next year, like Callahan did. A full season off could get his body right to the point his injury issues can be less of a concern.

Also, Drew needs to keep rocking the tight arm sleeve! He rocked it at Mizzou and has already had success with it in the NFL. Keep it Drew!

I didn’t hear a lot of talk about Wilkinson but should he be given more starting time and get more chances similar to Muti? I haven’t looked too closely, but he seemed to do okay. Maybe this is the Wilkinson that Vic and Munchak were expecting or hoping to see when they named him the starter originally.

Hey guys!

For once, the team holds up Brandon McManus rather than the other way around. It was good to finally see a glimpse of what this team can do when all phases start clicking.

2. Zac, per your tweet about healthy CBs on the team, what can the team do, and what would you guys like to see happen? Does Kareem Jackson move into a corner role while Will Parks takes his spot at safety? Do the broncos sign Prince Amukamara off of Arizona’s practice squad? Or do Vic and Ed manage to frankenstein a secondary together like Johnny Cash’s “One piece at a time”?

3. For Mr. B and Iceman

And lastly, 4. Does it bug anyone else that Drew Lock doesn’t throw a spiral? It seems like more often than not, he’s throwing ducks at laser speed (laser ducks might be something out of Dr. Evil’s koi pond). Is it worth the concern, or am I nitpicking?

A hedge for Drew that no one is bringing up. Garner Minshew. He’s in contract for 2 more years, but with Justin Fields or Trevor coming next year as likely Day 1 starters, does he really have value to them. Day 3 pick might get it done. His salary is cheap (1M per year). They have Glennon and Luton for the backup roles. Thoughts?

Now to find the limit to RK’s Trevor Lawrence trade. Jet’s GM calls say he wants the 4 1sts, 6 other day 2 picks, Chubb, Sutton, Lindsay and Lock….. Can you say no to this?

Since 2018, Drew Lock has played 10 games and thrown 17 TDs to 6 ints with 3 rush TDs 2.83 TD per pick while wearing a single arm sleeve

With a long sleeve shirt, he has played 17 games and thrown 25 TDs to 18 ints with 5 rush TDs 1.38 TDs per pick.

Stayed up late to figure this out and I was hoping there was a strong relationship between good play and the single arm sleeve, but nothing huge. Data is a little skewed for the long sleeve shirt from the tough start to this season, but Drew was also playing with the arm sleeve against no. 1 Bama, no. 5 Georgia and no. 15 Kentucky. Any chance Drew sticks with the sleeve to keep the mojo?

Hey guys! I’ve heard a lot of speculation about bad pizza causing the illness to Fant and Bolles on Sunday, but you should know the Nora virus (aka the stomach flu) is hitting the Charlotte area pretty hard right now. My wife is an EMT and they’re seeing a lot of people in the ER with it, it’s highly contagious and causes severe GI issues.

What did you guys think of Muti’s performance? From what I could tell, it seemed like he was one of the o-line’s best players on Sunday. He was doing a good job getting into the second level and was rag-dolling people when asked to pull. The only big mistake I saw him make was on the play which ended up being called as a roughing the passer penalty. However, I just don’t see how he can break into the starting lineup next year with the contract situation of Graham Glasgow and Ja’wuan James ahead of him. Glasgow has a $17m dead cap hit in 2021 and James is $19m according to Spotrac.

I seldom disagree with Zac but I doth protest about his. Orion that one cant be a gunslinger in the current zeitgeist. Jackson and Mayfield just showed us an spic shootout last night. Borh weird their pistols with abandon. Both stamp their boots angrily. They key, I think, is you just have to be good at it. No slop.

hey guys!

what do y’all think about the broncos taking another receiver in the draft this year? sutton and hamilton are in contract years with sutton also coming off an injury. tim patrick’s also in a contract year- assuming they tender him, so i feel like the cupboard could get bare pretty soon.

and given how long receivers can take to develop, it might be worth taking one in what looks to be another good class for receiver talent. could be that you get a day 2 talent on day 3. i’m not saying they should take one in the first round, and i’m expecting a defensive heavy draft overall but what do y’all think?

Don’t you just love how this is set up for Drew. I mentioned last week that we get to see him on the same field as two of the QBs in the AFC West that he needs to be able to compete with in the last two games of the season. Well how about this weekend going up against the one guy that realistically could have and maybe should have been our franchise QB and has developed into “The Guy” for his team. And a guy who a lot of Broncos Country is always going to compare Drew to. This game is juicy fellas. With our CB situation I think we are going to have to score some points to stay in this game. Let’s GO!! Don’t know if we could have picked three better games to end the season with!

And one more thing I wanted to get your thoughts on. If Drew is brought back as the starter going into next year, I am torn between bringing in a true hedge and bringing back Rypien as the true backup. I definitely like the thought of a hedge, but I also want to make sure we give Drew every chance to succeed if he is the starter. To me, the relationship he has with Rypien cannot be overlooked. Rypien is a smart QB that Drew trusts and listens to. It sounds like he is almost like another coach for Drew, and I can’t help but think that we could have another Elway/Kubiak setup here. Obviously Kubiak is a coach and it’s safe to say that he helped Elway like another coach during their playing days. I really don’t think Drew would shy away from the competition of having a hedge QB here and it might actually make him better, but I really like that relationship he and Rypien have. Plus Rypien has shown that he can come in and win a game for us in his first career NFL start on the road.

MY BOYS! The Broncos have now returned four punts for touchdowns against the Panthers in six regular season games played between the teams. They almost had another in Super Bowl 50 by Jordan Norwood who wore jersey number 11. Diontae Spencer and Trindon Holliday both returned punts for touchdowns at Carolina wearing that number. In 1997, Darrien Gordon took two punts to the house for the Broncos against the Panthers at old Mile High Stadium. A game in which Vic Fangio was Carolina’s defensive coordinator. Whether or not we want to admit it, Denver’s special teams have been significantly better the past four weeks less the anomaly of Brandon McManus missing two PATs on Sunday. Tom McMahon has finally showed why he was a well-regarded special teams coach prior to landing with the Broncos. If the special teams continues its marked improvement over this season’s final three games, do you think that McMahon returns in 2021? Have a terrific Tuesday. DNVRMY SALUTE!

i know a lot of these an comparisons are pointless, but I actually see a lot of Baker Mayfield in the way his career has gone this far. He steps in during his rookie season, is very productive, gives the team a huge boost with his confidence, and gives the franchise a lot of optimism going into the sophomore season. Then in year two, the team brings in a bunch of weapons and with the expectation of taking a massive jump in year 2, they ask him to be the plane not the pilot and it proves to be too much to handle and causes a major statistical and on field regression. Then year three they remember he’s till a young quarterback so they lean on the run game, play action, simplified reads and playing the role of the pilot, which results in efficient play, his moxie returning and the development into the qb he was drafted to be. Thoughts?

RK said that the hate for Drew Lock continues regardless of how well he performs. As a Lock detractor, I want to assure RK that all haters aren’t idiots. Why hate on a guy who can be all you’ve been needing? If we can get THAT GUY most games, I’ll be more than happy to eat crow. Hell yeah. Make me a fan, Drew!

Morning boys,

Probly missed the deadline here but here’s my question… what does Drew have to do against Buffalo to fall within the realm of consistency in your minds?

Greetings Fellas,
Sunday was awesome. Drew Lock played so well that it is hard for me to temper expectations. However, I feel like that is exactly what we need to do. For the same reasons why we make excuses about Denver having the youngest offense in the league ,I feel like we need to do the same about the Panthers Defense. Was it Drew just taking charge or the panthers being young and having an off day too. I dont want to take anything away from his performance but I do want to play a little devils advocate. I want to see Drew have another respectable game next week against Buffalo then I think we can see that Drew has truly turned a corner.
Go Broncos, Iceman and DNVR.
