Dont think he will…..but…..If new GM wanted to sign Lock up for extension right now, what do you think it would cost?

Any chance this could be an intelligent gamble to extend him now at big discount if he works out as starter with reasonable enough salary he could just be a solid, bit overpaid, backup if he doesn’t work out as starter?

Locking in lock now is risky but could really extend the low cost starter window if he works out and pay off huge.

Hey fellas,

I’ve been watching a lot of Zach Wilson and Mac Jones lately. They’re two totally different players but I think both will be successful NFL Qbs. Wilson is similar to Drew but in my opinion is a much better version. He’s a bit more athletic, he has a larger arsenal of throws he can make consistently, and he also like Mac, sees the field well and makes good decisions. His 30 tds to 3 picks among what you see on the field from him tells me he has a higher floor and ceiling than Lock.

When you compare their college tape to Drew’s it’s pretty obvious to me that the Broncos would have more potential if they drafted either Jones or Wilson. To me, Wilson looks the most equipped to compete in the AFC west and I could see him being the answer. I think Lock could pan out but I don’t see their being a scenario where he fairs better in the long run than Zach or Mac. Mac has been my front runner but thinking about the AFC west pass rush situation Wilson’s athleticism is beginning to look more and more important.

Do you guys also think Wilson and Jones have higher floors and ceilings than Lock? If so then isn’t the decision pretty obvious? I don’t want any other team’s sloppy seconds, we need another homegrown QB.

Fellas,

With Paton talking about the direction of the team being draft and develop, wouldn’t that make you think that both Justin Simmons and Phillip Lindsay will be signed to extensions rather than let to hit the market?

How say you?

Gents,

JUST SUBSCRIBED!! (yup, go ahead and say it)
I’ve actually been a longtime lurker of the pod for some time now. It feels like just yesterday I was listening to the dynamic duo of Ryan and Zac! It’s been a joy to see how much y’all have grown and what an incredible addition Mase has been. We haven’t seen a big 3 like this since Lebron took his talents to South Beach! I actually tend to listen to the pods at night to fall asleep to, but they all end up being so entertaining that I don’t actually fall asleep. Although I lose an hour or so of sleep every night, I always learn a thing or two from y’all!

Now on to my first ever question: The Broncos are in the midst 4 straight losing seasons (the last back to back losing seasons was in 74-75.) Of course, the game of football has evolved over the years, but is there anything that sticks out between the current Broncos team and the 74-75 Broncos team that may have similarities (unstable QB play, revolving door of coaches, etc)?

Thank you!!

Oops! It’s actually ‘71-‘72. I’m writing this at 2 AM so forgive me. Sorry if this made the question a difficult one to answer. I’ll get better at this ??

If you could have any MVP in league history join the Broncos tomorrow….who would it be?

Fellas,

Can any of you guys present a good argument as to why John Lynch is not yet in the Hall of Fame? I know Mase has followed his career close with Lynch playing for both Tampa and Denver so he has to have an opinion on this.

Tagging along with what Casper mentioned earlier, Payton’s focus of “draft and develop”…. I kind of think this has to mean that Lock is going to be given at minimum another year. Especially considering the reality that Watson isn’t going to be a Bronco and neither is Dak, the best possible options out there are Fitzmagic, Nick Foles, maybe Carson Wentz, but if you go those routes you may as well stick with Lock, upgrade your backup options just in case and commit to riding the season out.

If we assume that is what Paton goes with, what free agency moves (if any) should the Broncos make to *help* Lock succeed?

Also, sorry for the double question, but I’m not a beer fan (more into Cider) and am always intrigued by how Strawberry Sky is described. Assuming I can find it out here in California, any idea if a non-beer drinker would enjoy it?

Gentleman,

What about Sam Bradford for a veteran hedge? Not that I prefer this but there is familiarity with both Paton and Shurmer. Not to mention he played some of his best football in his career with the Vikings.

Congrats Mase one more win and your Bucs are in the big show.

A couple of things I wanted your guys’ take on.
With FA and trades happening well before the draft, does the team have to decide their direction at QB at the beginning of March without knowing how the draft is going to fall? And When do you think a Stafford trade would happen – after the draft because the Lions would need to make sure they get their guy right? Would we sign our hedge prior to the draft or see how the draft goes? Guys are going to start getting signed in March and if we don’t commit to a direction then we could miss out on some decent options.

Also – sure looks like Deshaun might be in play for someone to go get. Do you think he would wave his no trade to come to Denver where he would have to battle Mahomes for the division every year? I think it could go either way – either he wants the chance to show he is the better QB than Mahomes each year OR he doesn’t want to have to face him twice a year and have to go through him for division titles. I know Deshaun is a baller and competitor but I can’t imagine him choosing to have to face Mahomes every year. Thoughts?

Good Morning Y’all!

I saw a Bleacher Report article give the Broncos a D for the 2020 Draft. After the full season, even though we lost about half of the draft class to injury, what would your grades be? One of my hopes for this upcoming draft was players with easier names to pronounce so that the national broadcasters would stop butchering them, but with a GM who can’t even pronounce his own name correctly I think that’s going to be a bust.

Also, I’ve been doing a lot of mock drafts lately and looking at the draft value charts to see what we could get if we traded back. I’d only say it’s worth it if you’re wanting to give Lock another year. Personally, I’d want to try to get at a 1st round pick out of a trade down scenario. So how far would you have to trade back to get a 2022 1st rounder? In the mid-late teens too ambitious?

hey guys!

what do y’all think about brandon staley being the head coach of the chargers? he’s rumored to be bringing in mike mcdaniel to be his OC, too.

it’s funny….back in 2019, elway wanted justin herbert to be his QB, a fangio defense and a shanahan offense and now that exact setup could be in the division

What’s up fellas!

The off-season is just around the corner and there are a lot of moves the Broncos could make. What are some transactions you guys would like to see this off-season?
Here are a few that I think would benefit the team quite a bit. As much as it pains me to say this… Don’t pick up Von Millers option. Use that extra money to resign other players on the team (Harris, Lindsay, Simmons).
Now for the game changer. Trade for Deshaun Watson. Honestly, whatever it takes. 2 first rounders, 3 second rounders, Drew Lock, Bryce Callahan, and Tim Patrick. That’s a start, if they want more, give it to them! Sign a free agent corner, get LB depth and I think we’re set!
Would love to hear you guy’s in depth thoughts on this, BUT I realize you may have other topics to discuss. Keep up the solid coverage, appreciate you guys!

Hey guys! Including the Broncos game in 2019, Patrick Mahomes has now been injured twice on short yardage, designed QB runs. Do you think the Chiefs may rethink this tactic considering the hefty investment they’ve placed in him?

MY BOYS! Congratulations to Mase for his Buccaneers advancing to the NFC Championship Game to take on his in-laws’ team. My in-laws are also big Packer backers. Yesterday, January 17, is a big day in Broncos’ history, with the Broncos winning three playoff games on that date in Denver—the 1987 AFC Championship “Fumble” Game, the 1998 AFC Championship Game, which was John Elway’s last game played in Denver, and the 2015 AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the Steelers at Mile High. There must be something in the air on that date, as the Broncos forced and recovered critical fumbles in each of those games. Against Cleveland, the Broncos forced and recovered three fumbles, including the one that will forever live in football lore. Against the Jets, the Broncos forced four fumbles and recovered each of them. And against Pittsburgh, the Broncos forced two fumbles and recovered one they absolutely had to have. Otherwise, their third Super Bowl triumph is in serious doubt. How are the Broncos going to force more fumbles, and turnovers, in 2021? Have a magical Monday. DNVRMY SALUTE!

My Peoples!

Two quick things.

1. I hate, and i cant stress this enough, hate Bama QBs. Nothing good comes from Bama QBs.

2. I have had a couple dreams of Mac Jones in a Denver Broncos uniform, tearing up the NFL.

I think my mind is broke.

Love yall!

Alright,
I know it’s been said before, but with even more talk today coming out about teams calling on Deshaun Watson and a divorce more and more likely, I’d be all in on giving up three 1’s, three 2’s, Lock and Patrick. Gives Texans a possible starter with a WR he has chemistry with and was slid. Plus they could draft a rookie QB at #9 or fill a need. And we get Watson and compete in the AFC West for the next 10 years right off the bat!!!
