Hey boys. Some midterm Broncs stats. Defense is # 9 in scoring defense, the ONLY defensive stat that matters. Top 9, it’s not the defense losing 6 games. Offense is truly offensive. Only 5 bad football clubs are scoring < the Broncs, # 27 of 32. Net points, the difference between points scored vs. points allowed. I already covered Broncs scoring defense, Top 9, only 8 playoff teams better. Broncs are # 25 of 32 in net point differential, only 7 bad football clubs have a worse net points differential. 🙁 GO ZOOMIES

Hey guys
I saw that Von didn’t practice today due to knee soreness. Now, is there really knee soreness? Or has Von been playing through something this whole year, and that’s why he hasn’t been the same Von on the field. Just another conspiracy.
Thanks guys

1Guys i don’t think im missing something but maybe. You keep talking like its a possiblity that after 3ish games they give up on drew lock. When has that happened in the past its not super common for a team to move on from last years draft pick after a near full season of games. IE rosen and kizer but both teams had the number one pick. If mase has any examples of a 2nd or up qb whos expected to be the guy being drafted over after such a short sample size.
2 who ends the season with more losses the nuggets or broncos? Lol it could happen

Count Bridgeula
Bad news Gents,
Our good friend Count Flaccula is no longer! I came upon his severed head just this evening. It had been stuffed with old John Elway football cards and there seemed to be a shard of the Lombardi Trophy from SB 50 lanced deep into one of the eye holes. I was taken aback for a second until I focused, again, on my own dilemma.
As Zac reported on twitter I do have binders at home and these little tomes seem to be the whole issue betwixt me and the team. They insist on my using an IPad so they can track my every move. I, however, being born around the time of the Charles the Great (That’s Charlemagne to you RK and Zac) am more used to and vastly more effective when using a standard quill and earthy slice of parchment. I did update my style in the 1980s and begin using a trapper keeper ( as Zac so flippantly Called Binders) but it seems that Scangypants wants me to sync up with this idiotic VR machine.
Broncos fans, this feels like hell, I know – it’s loathsome for me as well but as I once said ( and these words were stolen for a modern fang flick) “…what if there is no hell, or they don’t want us there? Ever think of that?”

BRONCOS-SQUARED
Hey gang.
Two of my favorite things were mentioned on the pod recently. One of them was obvious, the Denver Broncos, and the other was references to Tommy Boy. That is one of my all-time favorite comedies, and now I am trying to picture scenes and how they relate to our beloved (slightly hated) franchise.
The best one that I can come up with is a scene where Chris Farley shreds apart a biscuit. In our current Drew Lock situation, Chris Farley is John Elway and Drew Lock is the “precious pet” biscuit. I hope Mace can provide some more imagery because it encapsulates the situation so well. Here’s a link to the clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1EyN9xTK94
Anyway, a quick question: How much power do you think Scangs will have in selecting a possible quarterback in the draft? I don’t know whether to trust him or not at this point.
Thanks guys!

Reposting this comment from the last pod!
The literal only explanation for Elway’s decision not to let Lock practice. Cut to Elway’s office a few days ago:
[There’s a knock on the door. Elway, seated behind a large mahogany desk, looks up from his Blackberry.]
Elway: Come in.
[The door bursts open. In strides a hideously ugly man that’s somehow reminiscent of Paxton Lynch. He flashes a smile. Elway recoils.]
Ugly guy: Hiya John! It’s me, The World of Suck, incarnate!
Elway: What in the literal f—
World of Suck: Yep, I’m the avatar of all your pain and bad decisions! Just a few short weeks ago I didn’t exist but then that Manny guy uttered my True Name and BANG, I popped into existence and here I am! Also, you and I are best friends!
Elway: Wait, no were not, I hate the world of suck, I don’t want to be there—
World of Suck: No one WANTS to be here, I get that. But hey, you’re here and I like you and those fantastic Broncos of yours. I think we could have fun together.
Elway: I don’t want to have fun
World of Suck: [Speaking as he slowly advances toward Elway’s beautiful desk.] I’m going to tell you how you we can stay friends and hang out forever.
Elway: I just said—
World of Suck: [Reaches across the desk and grabs Elway by the collar, pulling him forward so their faces are inches apart.] I don’t care what you think, buddy. You’re gonna do what your friend The World of Suck says, or I’ll tweet that your era-adjusted stats are worse than Andy Dalton’s.
Elway: [Wiping flecks of spit from his now-horrified face.] Wait that can’t be true, I was way better than—
World of Suck: Doesn’t matter if it’s true, Johnny. How many people do you know that fact-check tweets?
Elway: Jesus
World of Suck: I’m glad we understand each other.
[The World of Suck lets go of Elway’s collar. Elway flops down in his chair.]
World of Suck: Listen close, pal. I like you, and I think we can be best buds for a long time. [The World of Suck leans forward and begins whispering.] So let’s talk about this young, highly drafted quarterback of yours. This potential savior. Are you going to let him practice this week?
Elway: Uh, y- yes, obvious—
World of Suck: [Yelling.] NO!! YOU’RE NOT! HE DOESN’T SET FOOT ON THAT FIELD!
Elway: Wow, ok, I guess I…I can make that happen. But what do I tell everyone about why he’s not practicing? He already said he’s healthy, and we need a QB. Joe just had his head twisted off against Indy…
World of Suck: Just say that he needs more time. Plebs love platitudes.
Elway: But that literally doesn’t mean anything
World of Suck: SAY IT.
Elway: K.
World of Suck: [Smiling, peeking his head around the door as he leaves.] Can’t wait to hang out more. We’re gonna be friends forever.

[Cut to Elway speaking to the media]
Elway: Sooooo, [scratching his head], Drew’s not gonna practice this week. He just, ummm…needs more time? You guys gonna buy that?
Lovethunderdownunder
Dear god….. First Drew, and now we learn Elway uses a blackberry???

Guys,
My lord, this drew lock situation/mismanagement is making my blood boil. It almost like Elway is afraid of putting lock out there because of the backlash he will get if it doesn’t workout again. However, in my experience one of the ways you could really limit potential success is by being focused on, or fearful of, what could go wrong rather than what could go right. There has to be a point where they (They being Elway and Co.) hit the screw it button and throw him out there right? But the more I listen to reports the more I begin to think that will not happen at all this year and we will roll into 2020 with Flacco or some other bridge quarterback. If that happens my brain may explode.
chilangobronco
Hey guys
It is so hard to predict what Elway is thinking and what will he do, he must be a heck of a poker player! He is well covered in poop and he is so desperate trying to take it off that he is spreading it everywhere and making the mess worse.
Here are some nightmare thoughts, that I think might happen with Elway doing the things he`s done so far:
1. He will bing Flacco back to play the last 2 games of the season as he will be our QB next season as well
2. He just doesn`t like Drew Lock and he will not play and with the 3rd overall pick he will draft his crush Justin Herbert
3. He will go offseason for another veteran mediocre QB (fill in the blank: Dalton, Mariota, Fitzpatrick , etc…)
Please touch wood on the above to happen.
P.S. Mase did you visit Galaxy`s Edge when you went to Orlando? if so how was it?
Much love
Count Bridgeula
Espn reported there were 6 teams calling on CHJ before the deadline- Klis reported there was 1 – which one is it?
Also, Mase, did you ever think about how John Elway is six foot three inches tall which equals 75! Inches ?

Hey guys! This whole keeping Lock in hiding thing drives me crazy.
After listening to the *damn good pod* today, I got to thinking of when the 49ers traded for Jimmy G a couple of years ago .. and they wouldn’t play him for a bit, due to learning the system, I believe? I think Scangarello may have been on the staff at that point.
Anyway, maybe the whole “Lock isn’t ready” is something similar – something they view as mental, but it still seems plain silly to hold him back rather than scheme to his strengths..square peg round hole thing.. but not even practice reps? Really? -.-
Btw, quick question for Mase! What’s your fav difference of working for DNVR rather than the team?
Thanks guys, great stuff as always!

Guys I know we have all been frustrated, but there is a shining beaming of hope. And that beams name is courtland sutton. I’m so impressed with this young man and the way he handles himself and of top of it hes evolving to a #1 we. That’s all gents have a good one
Lovethunderdownunder
So in some positive news, it looks like PFF has Aj “Dino, the raptor” Johnson, is the fourth overall rated player at the midway in the season! Yes – higher than Devan Bush. I know Mase has his doubts as to the methodology but still a cool thought. Seems like our need at MLB fell from mandatory top 100 pick, to potentially just a depth play with AJ and Josey running the show. Thoughts?
P.S Did you check out the clip of Fangio on the Monday after the chiefs? Makes me shudder thinking “The Mad King” is overrulling Fangio on the play of Lock.
Mr. Blorange
I’m at my wits end. The second you guys mentioned the idea, of which is so disturbing that I had not considered it yet… that John Elway might be bringing Joe Flacco back next year, I snapped. I can so see him doing this. And I just can’t take any more. I made a petition to fire John Elway and insure we are rid of Joe Flacco once and for all.

Let me ask you something. RK’s Arizona Cardinals drafted a QB top ten played him throughout the season and while some thought it was to early to jump ship they traded a top 10 pick away to draft another QB first overall. It was a top NFL story until it wasn’t a week after the draft. If Lock really isn’t ready and he isn’t Elway’s guy. Why not at least give the fans and the team some type of hope, knowing that you could in theory do what the Cardinals did last year and get YOUR guy, Herbert? I think I just throw up a little saying that name, but that is neither here nor there.
Secondly, Elway can give me any excuse he wants, but I don’t trust him. Going with one of the classic, girlfriend metaphors, I loved Elway to the point where I thought he could do no wrong, then a couple years into our relationship some questionable things started to happen and my friends started telling me “hey maybe this isn’t the guy for you,” but good old naive Superbowlen didn’t want to hear that. Instead I carried on with Elway blindly believing in him. After some real questionable decisions the relationship and trust becomes rocky, but this is still Elway right? He really does know best. But the more you think about the recent decisions in the past few years you begin to see them in a different light. You start to wonder if Elway cares more about you as a fan or the success of the team rather than admitting he is wrong and taking a ding to his ego. You shake it off but then you see Elway keeping the same mistakes even after giving him time to make it right and you realize that at one point what you had was great, but that he just isn’t the person for ya anymore.
Vance Joseph stated that he thought Elway had no plan, Mark Schlereth has now come out and stated he doesn’t believe Elway can turn this around, and above all else the state that Elway once practically owned has begun to resent him. The longer this man stays in town the closer we become to being the next Browns, the next Jets, the next *insert team that sucked for a decade.* I really want to be positive, but this is only going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Time to buckle up ladies and gentleman its going to be a rocky ride.

I am going to go against my username here and say In Ellis We Rust. I believe our woes will continue as long as he is in power. He doesn’t seem to get along with multiple people in the organization and those who threaten his power (I.E. removing Beth). Even if Brittany becomes the owner Ellis will continue to stay on saying he needs to “guide” her for years to come. Someone needs to be able to sit down with Elway and ask him what his plans are and keep him accountable which Ellis doesn’t seem to do. The sisters should band together and overthrow him with Brittany having majority of the org and Beth having the minority share, but the one with more experience. Either way I think we need to call the Cardinals and request to fire Vance Joseph.
Orange and Blue all over
What does Allen need to do to keep starting job?
wins – even if thanks to def? Putting up over 20 points? Individual stats? Make a few ‘wow’ plays?
Steeburt92
So I think I’m ready to share my overly optimistic take mostly because it is the only thing that is keeping me sane. The Broncos know Drew is the guy and even though they aren’t doing the best job bringing him back they are confident in him. Is it just me or does the reason he isn’t back yet keeps flipping between his physical health and mental preparation? Surely this HAS to be them just making up excuses. Not playing Drew until week 13 gives him “easy” games to play and would build the most support if he manages to lead the offense to even 2 wins. Meanwhile you almost ensure you gain better draft position to sure up the weak spots. I know this is long and somewhat all over but it’s the only logic I have that is keeping me from losing all faith over the past week.

STOP!!!!
I keep hearing the questions of “why”. Why this and why that. More often than not, we answer our own questions when you bring up Elway.
Elway is to blame, for everything. Outdated scheme that is forced upon our eyes? Elway! QBs that do not fit the new NFL mold? Elway! Cap problems? Elway! (Looking at guys like Bryce and James for this one.. sorry they may be great people off the field, but that is exactly where they are at. You cannot, with even the slightest bit of intelligence believe that signing James to one of the richest contracts for a tackle ever, was a smart move or even an okay move).
Ill say it now until the end of time.. John Elway is not a brilliant Football mind, he was a All-Time great player and athlete, but i have seen nothing that indicates he has barely above average football IQ when it comes to running a team.
Where do i send my fire Elway letters, Ive written a couple and would like to mail them straight to Dove Freakin Valley. Seriously i think there is enough people at the gates calling for Elways head so to speak that someone somewhere would have to listen if the public out cry became loud enough, no?
OklahomaBronco58
Hey guys! I keep hearing you guys say that the team must see something in Lock that they don’t like but how the bleep could they know that when he’s only doing a FRICKIN VR MACHINE!!!! I think Elway wants to avoid putting him in because he knows he can’t mess this one up. I think it also has to do with them sticking to “the plan” for Lock that they set when they drafted him. I just think John has too much pride and wants to say “I told you so” if Drew works out down the road. Elway has lost trust from the fan base and it’s sadly clouding his playing legacy here!!
OklahomaBronco58
Also if you guys could influence the powers that be to go this route….
GET CEEDEE LAMB TO DENVER!!! He’s the play maker this offense needs and just imagine Courtland and Ceedee along with a presumably improved fant and Lock?!?! This offense would actually be a threat with all that firepower!! Then with the extra draft capital you trade back into the first round and get an o lineman!! Just a thought but I’d be the first person in line for that Ceedee Lamb Jersey!!
FANTasy Fiasco
Hi Guys,
I’m travelling to Denver this weekend to attend my first home game and I still haven’t bought tickets as I was waiting for a price drop.
I really want to attend a home game, but with the recent form of the team, will the crowd even provide the notorious Mile High atmosphere that shudders opposing teams’ confidence?
If not, is it better to boycott? Or should I go with a brown bag over my head? I’m loving the “We want Lock” chant!
If I’m at the game, I’m looking to get Breckenridge Blacked and help Broncos fans make the point we’re not putting up with this BS management plan anymore. (All while maintaining respect for the organization and fans around me of course)
Finally, Mase, best of luck on getting Old Republic FC into the Championship. If only the Broncos could benefit from your prophetic management capabilities.
OoO Benny Lava
Mase: in 1979, the hostages had been taken in Iran, everyone’s familiar with that story right?
Zac and RK sneak a glance at each other perplexed…. So we’re not talking about Mike Wallace the wide receiver?
Lmao pure comedic gold, loved that moment.
No other trades at the deadline, does that surprise you guys? What do you think that means for the long term of this team?
Love you boys

Hey guys!!
It’s been a while cuz I’ve been busy with a couple of things. One of which was becoming the offensive coordinator of my high school football team!! It’s really freaking fun. I run a shanahan type offense with a LOT of pa and power runs. So far, we are 4-2. My question today is, if we see average in drew lock, and we are presented with chase young and Joe burrow, who do we take? Thank you guys for helping me study with your mellifluous voices.
NotPhillipLindsay
2 more things.
1.For Halloween, I will most likely be one of the many Antonio clowns. I went and bought a jersey so I can wear it today, and burn it.
2. Cali gang stay strong!!! If anyone ever needs a place just let me know. These fires are crazy.
Atwater27
Took a look at twitter and saw Zac’s post with Scangarello’s full quote about Lock… Nothing Elway said the other day has matched with what Drew, medical staff or Scangarello have said!!! Physically, Lock and medical staff have said he’s been ready to PRACTICE for the past 2 weeks. I get that he isn’t game ready not practicing for so long, but isn’t that WHY you get him to practice so that he CAN get there physically??? Mentally, Scangarello said Lock has “done a great job preparing” and he “liked where he’s heading”. So is there a miscommunication somewhere between the staff? Is Elway trying to shift blame so he can still debate who he want’s to bring off IR? Or am I reading everything all wrong??? So confused….
