Unbelievable! I’ve lived in SoCal for 25 years so I love it when we beat the Chargers no matter where they live. Drew’s footwork was terrible in the first half but he got it right in the second half. Lindsay needs to get paid to stay in Denver. I love the enthusiasm for the tying touchdown from the sideline but we need to control that so we don’t get a stupid penalty that would have made the extra point longer. Thankfully there was no flag. Great game, great Podcast. Love you guys and keep up the awesome coverage. DB4L.

Mase conjured up the Beautiful visions of the Elway/Baltimore comeback on the pod last week. Mase spoke this Win Into existence. That is all. The Masefather! Never Betray the (dnvr) Family!

I was so frustrated with the play calling and the whole team at first. I’m thrilled and amazed we won and Drew played so well in the end. He hit the stats/criteria I wanted him to (2 more TDs than ints). But any team and QB that can play so poorly for 2 and a half quarters has serious, deep underlying issues and problems that aren’t easily fixed. It looked worse than almost any offensive output this team has produced in the past 5 years and as bad as the Jets offense at their worst this year.
I know you guys are pretty optimistic when talking about looking past the bad games and how fans are impatient and too quick to be frustrated and too quick to expect things from Drew, but this franchise since the Super Bowl has spiraled downward into a shell of itself, wasting one of the NFL’s best defenses and players (Von Miller) while going through the QB carousel. The team went decades, like 30 years without back-to-back losing seasons only to pile them up and threaten a bad season every year. The franchise has set the standards we’ve come to expect and then fallen so far short of them.
Just like you guys caution us not to get too down and only focus on the most recent game when we have a bad game, we should be consistent and not get too excited and only focus on the most recent game when we have a good game. Despite how far away we are from where we need to be, I am hopeful for the rest of this season and to see if Drew Lock is the guy.

Fellas,
I feel that game perfectly sums up the 2020 Broncos. Everybody in Broncos country, I’m including the media as well, needs to R-E-L-A-X. This season was always about growth. The storm on Twitter at halftime was horrifying. “Lock is a bust” “fire everybody”. Nobody seems to remember that this is the youngest offense in football. There will be growing pains. They will look lost at times. But they will also show flashes of greatness. If the core of this team can stay together for a few years, think of what the 2022 version of this offense can be. It’s always great to defeat a division rival so let’s enjoy this. But next week if the Broncos lose can we all please remember that this is a process and beater days are not far off.
markschippers
Hey pals, long time no talk, still been listening and reading along though.
Whom do you guys think is the biggest injury to the team?
I think it’s Sutton, his big body and big play ability is sorely missed, more than Von IMO.
You guys still rock,

Hey guys! First off, amazing win for the Broncos and a complete flip of the narrative for Lock. With all the focus on Drew being more careful and all the talk about making things simpler for him, I was afraid that Shurmur would put Drew back in the bubble wrap that he was in last year and I was right. Instead of helping Drew out, they took away his best weapon – his confidence. I was ready for Rypien to come in – not because I don’t believe in Drew but because if they aren’t going to let him play, then there isn’t much point in having him out there.
I know folks don’t like it, but I firmly believe that the only way to know if Drew is “the guy” is to let him play without the bubble wrap and see what happens. That means mistakes will happen, but so will big plays as these guys grow up together. Drew has to have the chance to play his game and figure out if he can do that successfully in the NFL. That might mean some major growing pains somedays, but it’s better than whatever it was that stunk up the field in the first half on Sunday. I hope we can learn to stop looking at each game as the defining statement for who or what Drew is going to be and instead let him play and add it all up at the end of the season. Who am I kidding? Of course we can’t do that. But we should.

Wow guys, what a freaking night.
I always wonder why I stick around to watch a 3 hour game like this one, where Denver is losing 24-3 and the win probability reaches 1%.
Then a game like this happens and you realize you should never turn the TV off or you could miss special moments like these.
Whatever your opinion on Lock is, you at least got to admit the dude has something special. To drive the field 80+ yards in just over 2 minutes to win the game is amazing. Especially without Sutton/Patrick and nothing but a bunch of rookies and second year guys. Anytime your QB can do something like this you got to feel good about him in some way.
One last thing…
MORE LINDSAY! For Gods sake, give me all things Phil!
God bless,
Love you guys!

Great win for the Broncos, still in the hospital after taking a drink every time Mase and Zac fanboy over Justin Herbert. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction moving forward with this young team. Gotta have some patience.
Screw This
After the first offense series in the second half I got mad and turned off the game. I did the same thing in week two against the Steelers but turned the Steelers game back on when I realized it was a close game and me being a superstitious fan I did not want to risk it with this game so I did not turn it back on. I will take one for the team and not watch the falcons game.

Top o’ the mornin, dudes!
Holy cow, what a win. I was curious what they’d say about it on ESPN! Tuned in to late night Sportscenter at 11.
They cycled through highlights from other NFL games. …then excessively highlighted Tua’s (lackluster) first start. …then showed freaking NASCAR highlights. …….then showed an interview with Tom Brady and Randy Moss. ……..then a couple more highlights……from games they had ALREADY SHOWN…………. then GOLF.
Correct me if I’m wrong but… I’m pretty sure earlier today I witnessed an incredible football game where a Broncos team who, for the last couple weeks couldn’t reach the end zone to save their lives, overcame a 21 point late-game deficit against MANY odds and expectations. Surely a TOP story of the day in the NFL! …right?!
But what love do we get from the national media?
A ticker on the bottom of the screen that reads “despite losses, Herbert still shining.”
I kid you not. I have been watching this since 11. Its now past midnight. They have not even MENTIONED the Bronco/Charger game, but they have shown highlights of literally EVERY OTHER GAME… a few of them even TWICE!!! UGH!
UPDATE: Its now 12:07. They FINALLY decided to talk about the Bronco game. And of course, the main take is “chargers blow another lead.” Mhm. Not a word about how awesome the comeback was or how impressive Lock’s turnaround was. Nope, of course not.
Sorry, just had to vent. Can’t believe even after this amazing performance, Denver is just a footnote nationally. Wild. Maybe this is too small to be this upset about but man I’m frustrated. What do you guys think?
Much love,
-Colin-
OnionTownLynx
It really SHOULD only be talked about nationally if the Broncos have a full-on season turnaround.
dan birk
hey guys!
the highlight for the game might’ve been seeing chj’s twitter page go completely dead in the 4th quarter after he spent the other three quarters talking mess about the broncos. ol’ boy didnt tweet a thing after locks interception but was happy to like tweets earlier in the game about how ‘drew wasn’t good’ lol
Aaron Ray
My G’s!!! That game was nutty! I have nothing negative to say about anything we did today bc we trumped it with a comeback dub. Phil needs to be paid asap, Bryce Callahan is a beast and Hamilton came through clutch. For all the hate Melvin Gordon was earning, he played solid and had some big plays down the stretch. To me, the comeback win wasn’t even the most exciting part about this game. It was the fact that Drew Lock’s confidence survived the wrath that almost every young QB faces in the beginning of their career. It is the biggest factor in being able to determine if he has IT or not and many QB’s are not able to make it through that wrath. I think we just saw it click right before our eyes! Say what you want about Herbert’s numbers but it is clear that Drew attracts WINS. Just wait till we have our full roster to see the levels he will be able to take it to. Sutton, Patrick, Jeudy, Hamler, Fant, Alex O and Phil in the backfield?? Oh and a good defense?? Trouble for boys in the future.
By the way, I’m not sure who has a bigger man crush on Phil Lindsey out of me and RK but mine is HEAVY lol
I appreciate ya’ll, stay blessed!
Schmoke and a Pancake
I will leave the Lock comments to everyone else here, so my main questions are
1. Was that more of a Broncos win or more of the Chargers imploding?
2. If Malik Reed continues to be a force is Von Miller on the team next year?
3. For Mr B
4. Kareem Jackson decided F it everyone dies today
5. When Lock can stick in the pocket and set his feet he can really zip that ball
Lovethunderdownunder
Excitement.
Drew Lock, our number 3.
Touch down to KJ.
Well *beep* me.
I’m not convinced that followed any of the language structure of a haiku but *beep* me who cares.
3-4! An opportunity to be at 4-4. Maybe we are seeing the youth on offense start to click.
Just for today, can we focus on some really great energy looking ahead. There is plenty of really good and important criticism to be discussed – but for now, can we just enjoy and look at our next 9 games, and see the broncos go 7-2 or 6-3?
So what has to happen for the broncos to go 10-6? Which games are they dropping?
Lovethunderdownunder
When will you guys do a proper winners lounge session, all hanging out in the bar?

Great Team win …. And I do mean TEAM !!! ….. Drew lock didn’t beat the chargers the team did ….. I’m not trying to reign on anyone’s parade and I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that the teams meshing and developing and young …..but I have to be honest drew is Processing things slow and has to read the field quicker AND GET THE BALL OUT QUICKER …the Daesean Hamilton Td is the best throw in that game and who we need Drew to grow to be ….. I appreciate him for taken what was given to him and being so clutch but I want to be honest about Drew and he has got to get the ball out quicker be far more accurate and throw with anticipation (I’m saying this because I can tell the booing bothered drew and I need him to play better and ignore that )…….. And this is another conversation for another day but I stand by it DEAR JOHN ELWAY U WILL NOT WIN A SUPERBOWL in the next 5 years if ….Justin Simmons, Phillip Lindsay , and Courtland Sutton aren’t on this team, that’s your leaders that’s ur safteys net that’s YOUR CULTURE U NEED THEM ! …… We can have all the praise we want of Drew ….. But #30 put the team on his back and said WE ARE NOT LOSING TODAY LETS GO ! ……I have no words to describe phillip Lindsay’s play today and this season their going to write books and a great movie about phil and his heart and his ability to overcome obstacle after obstacle PAY THAT MAN !!!! Glad he’s a bronco man love phil !
larrydennjr
Oops almost forgot lol ….if we ever get those announcers again we should have a drinking game for everytime the announcer says ” Man I love phillip Lindsay ” that was hilarious he kept saying that all game l

Gentlemen!
That was exciting! I am almost embarrassed to say that I missed the entire second half because of our end of the season football banquet. RK mentioned that the game reminded him of one of Elway’s early games. This game reminded me a lot of the Peyton Manning MNF game against these very same (San Diego) Chargers where we were down 24-0 at half and came back to win in the second half.
I understand it is a different team and that was Peyton Freaking Manning, but I remember the team was having some issues gelling in the first couple of games of that season but after that game, we won 10 straight I believe. I am not going to say that we are going to win 10 straight games but it was really great to see them fight until the very end.
Thanks for everything you do; stay happy and healthy.

MY BOYS!
What a thriller! I’m sure the comments section is going to be a huge echo chamber of positivity and awesome, so I’ll keep it brief. Mase and Zac, your post-game articles were great! Zac’s story about Drew’s speech was very well done, and I always love the pop-culture references you add into your articles, Mase. The Charlie Brown reference was very apropos. Chef’s kiss!
Thanks for staying up late to give us that extra bit of content, as well as the pod!
P.S. I loved seeing Jeudy tackle Hamler after he scored the game-winner. This team DOES look together in spite of the woes. Vic has these guys playing for each other.
OnionTownLynx
If nothing else, we found a clutch win, are still in this, and aren’t the worst in our division. The post-game pod was lit, except for the 20 minutes of pure Justin Herbert glorification.
Random question, what is your favorite memory against the Chargers other than now?
Love this pod and everything it’s about.
Lynx
The name just keeps getting better

Hey fellas,
Assuming that the broncos will try to do at least a little shopping prior to the trade deadline, are there any guys in the league that you believe the broncos could trade for?
Race City Bronco
Hey guys!! What an amazing win!! It felt like an 80’s throwback with John Elway driving at the end of the game. I was wondering though, do you have any more info on Vic Fangio’s injury? I realize he was roughed up after Drew’s interception, was he out of commission for a short while and if so, who was calling the defensive plays since Ed Donatell was home due to Covid protocols? Do you think not having Ed impacted the game at all?
DeBallZach
Hey guys, just came here to give Melvin Gordon some credit for that catch on the final drive that gave us a first down (on 3rd Down). I know he didn’t play particularly well earlier, but if he doesn’t make that catch we might not be talking about a win here.
Also, with Bouye hurt, we had a Bassey sighting. How do you think the Broncos feel about letting Bausby go now?
Thanks guys, and keep up the great work!
Joshua Krefetz
While everyone is up in arms about the Lindsay/Gordon split, is it possible that management is taking a more holistic view of the situation knowing that a) this team isn’t a legit contender this year, 2) Phil does have a payday coming, and 3) to ensure he’s at his best when this team *is* a contender, it’s prudent to limit the wear and tear for when it really matters?
We all know RB’s have a short shelf-life, so isn’t it wise to protect the asset so he’s at his best when this team is ready to legitimately throw its hat in the ring?
Jack Double Magnum
No game related question but does anybody (other people in the media) ever call out Mike Klis? He was tweeting mid game calling to bench Lock which at the time Lock was admittedly playing extremely poorly but at the same time you would think Klis would know this entire year is about finding out if Lock is the future. Anyway, sorry to bother the local bloggers with a non football related question lol
BroncosSoonersNYRangers
What a game!!! Crack a damn Breck Brew and get both cheeks in bounds! I haven’t felt like this in a long time. I’m not going to let the game get my expectations too high, but it is nice to see that when they click, the Broncos offense can look good.
I think we all need to remember these young guys still have not had an off-season, they’ve had practices impacted by COVID, and they have more major injuries than I can count.
I will give them this, though, they kept fighting, and I think that’s a testament to the team and the coach. There was a lot of bad out there, but the past few years this comeback would’ve never happened. It was nice to punch it in for the game winner!
Thanks for reading, and a mile high salute to the haters!
MAYBEtheDINGOateYOURbaby
I was so close to saying SCREW THIS yesterday afternoon and very wrong wondering if Drew was seeing ghosts. I thought he needed a breather after the first half…. He gave me a quick middle finger to what I think.
If Gordon survives his suspension, defenses could be drinking from a fire hose when everyone is healthy. Think about it…. There’s two scary TE’S, there’s 2 number 1 caliber wr’s… And there’s 2 rb1’s…. Or am I looking through orange colored glasses?
SLC Broncos
With this win and the Broncos sitting at 3-4 about half way through the season. Does this change if the Broncos are buyers or sellers as the trade deadline looms?
Windy City Bronco
The beginning of this season is largely playing out as expected. It’s been sloppy. They’ve won games they should win. They stole games we expected them to lose. They are legitimately in the playoff hunt right now.
I expect more of the same week to week but they’ll get better. This defense is elite. This offense will get better. Expect turbulence but there’s room to be hopeful.
DTL
Howdy,
Should we trade for Julio now that he’s on the block and what would it take?
vonnie b'vsean
First, I have to explain my name. I have always loved Von Miller but when I found out that his given name is Vonnie B’vsean Miller, I really just had to run with it.
I wanted to touch on how much I LOVE that Phil and Drew both brought up DaeSean Hamilton in their interviews without being asked. I have always felt like there are guys that don’t get their due because they don’t do the flashy part of the play and it shows that the team has great leadership when they are sticking up for their man like they do.
I know Mase is gonna give us some stats that show we still need to be concerned about Drew but for today and this week, I’m just gonna live in the glory that is a QB that leads his team to victory with words and then actions.
DNVArmy Salute.
Bronco_in_SD
I liked your post Mase. Yes this was so much fun, but I’m not ready to anoint lock. I still have major concerns that are unanswered. Not to be that guy but most of the throws he made in the 4th were easy wide open throws. Thanks chargers!
That being said lock made the throws and pulled it off. Finally a flash! Let’s get some momentum and keep rolling.
Broncoholic
Hey Guys!
What an exciting win! I still have not seen it, but looking forward to watching on gamepass soon, but was following along on the discord Broncos channel!
Couple thoughts: for Lindsay PAY THAT MAN!!! Then #FeedPhil!!!
He needs to be on the field at least 75% of snaps and only take him off for Gordon when the improved pass protection is needed. He should not leave the field for any other reason! He is the energy fuel for this team and has been since he joined the team. Drafted him his rookie year in fantasy after seeing him play that preseason and he continues to impress! GO BRONCOS!!!
The consequence of getting last place in my fantasy league is that you have to wear a dress to the next year’s draft. Unfortunately, I found myself wearing the dress in August of this year. Yesterday in that league I decided to start Drew Lock as my QB2 in a “no risk it, no biscuit” approach. By the end of the game I had experienced every emotion possible and got the W just like our Broncos. Go Broncos and go Drew!
Garett Bolles
The 3 penalties I had last night were bull crap!!
kirksmith44
After the game last week Ryan tweeted if you’re ready to give up on Drew Lock after 8 games then that’s on you. Well, after 8 and a half I did, and that’s on me.
That being said we still need to see consistency from Drew and more drives that don’t end in a three and out. Establishing a running game WITH PHIL is a start and needs to happen earlier than with a few minutes left in the third quarter. Letting Drew be Drew and not fitting him into whatever mold they were trying to do yesterday can help as well. I’m excited after yesterday’s second half and hope we can build on this against the Falcons.
Nathaniel Thiccett?
After further review, my comment from last week stands. We can still go 5-1 in the division.
Also I imagine that RK and I were shouting “BUTTCHEEKS” in perfect harmony yesterday.
Stay thicc.
Another Ryan
MY BOYS! What a WILD one! The statistical anomalies involving the Broncos’ defense the past two weeks are staggering. If you looked at the defensive stats alone from yesterday, you would have to think that the Broncos lost. If you look solely at the statistics from Denver’s game the prior week against Kansas City, you would have to think that they won. One thing is for sure, Anthony Lynn has not fared well against the Broncos since becoming the Chargers’ head coach. He is now 2-5 against Denver as San Angeles’s headman, including crushing defeats at Denver in 2017, 2019, and 2020, as well as at Los Angeles in 2018. Can you imagine how much better this team can be when it finally plays complimentary football in all three phases for an entire game? DNVRMY SALUTE!
Hey guys! What a wild ride that game was. A question for you guys here; do you all feel that Pat Shurmur and this scheme are right for Drew Lock, and if the answer is no, do you think it’s work keeping him just to maintain continuity or cutting your losses and bringing in a 3rd coordinator in 3 years.
Also, a more superficial question, does anyone else miss the one sleeve and visor look Drew had sported from college until his rookie regular season debut? I always thought it was so fitting of his demeanor and play style and thought it would become an iconic look, but the long baggy sleeves look so “Trever Siemian” to me. I’m convinced if he goes back to his original look he’ll play better, so can somebody ask Drew what happened to his drip?! In all seriousness thanks again for all your great coverage!
Stokely saying that the DPI was not DPI is just ignorant and annoying. If anything, it was textbook DPI in my opinion.
VividSwing
Holy moly what a game. I’m still smiling, but it wasn’t easy going to bed at 2am in Europe after that win. Had to stay up a bit. So much silent screaming to not celebrate but not sale up girlfriend and kid.
Anyway, not really much else to say from me today other than have a great election day tomorrow and I hope the country doesn’t go down in flames afterwards – regardless of the result.
