Lock is going to go somewhere else and possibly thrive in a new environment. That stinks!

I don’t have a clue of the future of Broncos Country, but this obviously isn’t it. We have good players and need to capitalize on that. We aren’t getting Rodgers or Wilson so it needs to be built from within.

Love you dudes!

Week 18 is now actually a win-win for the Broncos; if they win they end the losing streak to KC (who will be playing to win) and if they lose they clinch a top 10 pick, so theres that.

As for the future of this team: if there any chance at all George Paton has an eye on the QB class in 2023? I know I know, nobody wants to even entertain the idea of the Broncos being one of the worst teams in the league next year but bare with me. What if Fangio is brought back for his lame duck year, and this whole operation really bottoms out? Owning a top 5 pick in 2023 likely guarantees you an excellent shot at either Bryce Young or CJ Stroud and if you didn’t see what them boys got
up to on the weekend I suggest you do so. Is there any chance this is in the line of thinking at Dove Valley?

I’m just so f’ing tired of losing. SB 50 feels like decades ago. I hope I wake up and there are changes being made. What’s the point of not firing coaches yet. Just bought a shirt the support the fire victims. Sorry for RK’s family. DNVR is a class act and I’m thankful to have you all to listen to. DB4L!

(reposting- not sure if y’all got to this)

hey guys,

can y’all elaborate on how assistant coaching contracts work? if the broncos were to fire vic, does that mean position coaches like zach azzanni will be free agents and free to sign with another team, especially if the broncos take their time to hire a new head coach? i know coaches like azzanni and modkins survived a coaching change, but that seems pretty uncommon in the league?

i feel like people might be taking player development for granted with this current coaching staff. i know the coaches tend to be an easy target, but several players have gotten better since vic and co took over in 2019, so that’s something that should be considered when talking about bringing a new coaching staff in

3 Year listener and at least one year subscriber…. First time comment !

Dear Zac,

You’ve said multiple times that Drew Lock has his chance last year, and he ruined that by how he played and by leading the league in INTs.
Whenever someone mentions we messed up not starting him this year, that’s the thing you always seem to come back to….

Let me remind you of last year…

Week 1:
Drew Lock gave me a lot of hope against the Titans for the future. It was exciting. Dart Throw across the field to Noah Fant for 20+ yard TD. Almost beat a playoff team.
Week 2: Gets Injured

1st game back from injury at NE:
Becomes Youngest QB to win in Foxborough – plays what I thought was a really inspiring and hopeful game for the future. I remember a couple picks from Drew, but I also remember yelling at the TV why are we not running the ball in these situations..

Obviously there’s the Chargers Comeback which should say a lot more than we’re giving it credit for…

And then he ended the season on a run that showed potential as well.

The rest of the bad games at the start of the season you have to just say they have to do with the fact they got no off-season… and were trying to implant a Square offense into a Circle QB let team (to use Mase reference) on the fly…

With all the things against them last year you can’t use that as your main argument when you say we “gave Lock a chance”

Also we would have beat the Saints if we weren’t in this ridiculous protocol world we live in. Which I like to think were not gonna live in forever, so I don’t rate my QBs based off that.

It was all doomed when we Fired Rich Scangarello who Obviously ran the type of offense that would work for that type of QB (similar style to John Elway!)

For Pat freaking Shurmer. What a waste of time this season was… dooped us all for a bit. Was fun being excited about playoffs for a little bit though..

Much love guys appreciate yall!

Happy New Year! This is our first comment after subscribing a few days ago.

With the New Year having commenced by the time you read this, we note that it is regrettable that any ‘fresh starts’ or ‘new beginnings’ are temporarily on hold, since we are all to immediately thrust ourselves back into the masochism that is watching the 2021-22 Broncos.

I believe earlier this year I heard Mase say that a team takes on the personality of their head coach and QB. From an observer’s view, Vic Fangio is as emotionally dynamic as a potato. The Sobey Brothers declare that the Denver Broncos New Years Resolution should be to hire a coach who has some intensity and maybe some panache. Right now, who do the Broncos rally behind? Who is their leader? If Paton decides to change the Head Coach this offseason, he needs to hire somebody who the players will play for, rather than in spite of.

Question: With all other things being equal, how would you feel about the Denver Broncos right now if Vic Fangio was as intense every game as he was in that Dallas game?

P.S. “Sobey” is pronounced like the “Sobe” drinks.

Another season down the drain. An great roster wasted on this coaching staff and Bridgewater. Can we finally admit that Lock was the right choice. Over the last two games he has a 70% completion percentage, 1 td, and 199 passing yards per game. Those are pretty much teddy Bridgewater numbers so why not go with the upside. Not to mention the rest of the team has not put Lock in a position to succeed. The running game has not gotten over 100 rushing yards in a game 6 times this season. Two of those came with Lock starting. The other 4 they went 2-2 with their two wins coming against Washington and Jacksonville. Also where both teams where held to 13 points or under. Also Lock had to deal with missing key players this game and having multiple drops in that raiders game. Honestly Lock has move the ball better down the field than Teddy. It hasn’t resulted in points but how much blame can you put on Lock. He got the broncos inside the chargers 10 yard line 3 times today. Each time he only got to throw one pass. One was a Td, one was a 5 yard pass which was the most yards gained, and the other was -1 yard. You guys can try to cherry pick stats that prove Teddy is the better quarterback but Lock has shown us the team made a mistake. It is too late for Lock in Denver but he will have a fun time beating us the next 10 years with the Raiders.

Hey guys,

Let’s quickly move on from this game and look forward to a week today when Fangio, Shurmur and McMahon are hopefully sent packing.

Question for you…it looks like there will be a maximum of five Head Coach openings – Jags, Raiders, Bears, Broncos and Vikings. Good news for the Broncos that’s it’s only five, but do you think it’s the most attractive job going, despite the ownership and QB uncertainty?

My personal order of attractiveness would be:

Broncos
Raiders
Bears
Vikings
Jags

Cheers!

Well, the Drew Lock crowd is on fire. Most ignore the fact that he’s not winning the games, but at least he is giving some hope. Teddy was chosen to save Vic’s job and that didn’t work. Lock is very unlikely to be hoisting the Lombardi, but when he plays, you see him make plays that Teddy can’t. So, in all reality, this wasted season, gained us what? No playoffs…. Maybe a top 10 pick… No development of Drew to be sure if he’s maybe a game manager, rather than a backup. Teddy can’t carry a team, but while Drew is suspect, many latch on to him be able to make those special plays on occasion. Both could have been a bit better with a better coaching staff.

You want Rodgers? It leads to QB purgatory again. You are betting the house on a Super Bowl in a short time frame, but time to argue this as we are now in the offseason again too early.

Do you guys ever remember a worse “free agent” head coaching class than the upcoming one?

hey guys,

we’re at the point as a fanbase where we have to look for wins wherever we can get them, so can we talk about the broncos holding ja’marr chase to 1 catch to 3 yards a couple weeks ago, especially in light of what he did against a pretty good chiefs secondary last night?

The Broncos have the fifth most fourth down attempts in the league. This never made much sense to me given that Fangio is an otherwise conservative coach. I think I finally figured it out though.

Being aggressive on fourth down calls allows the team to be conservative on third down calls. If it’s 3rd and 8, he doesn’t go for the first down. Instead he settles for a pass short of the sticks counting on the easy fourth down conversion. So those fourth down plays aren’t really aggressive, it’s just playing out a far too conservative third down call.

Do you think it’s possible Vic’s fate is tied to whether Payton thinks he can bring in Rodgers? Rodgers makes the offensive coaching significantly less essential so Payton could be interested in holding onto Vics defense if he manages to trade for him.

In the last 2 games I’ve attended (both against the Chargers), The Broncos have been outscored by a total of 86-34. That’s all I got.

Side note, SoFi Stadium is absolutely gorgeous!

My boys.
Why does it seem watching this last couple of games have became more of a chore then something I enjoy. I was all in on Vic coming back next year if we had a winning season by because now that is not possible, why not fire him now and save us some head ache, because at least then we can start interviewing for the next head coach. Out of all the names who would y’all want for the next head coach? I say Doug Paterson. At least he knows how to win a super bowl. I traveled to 3 games this year and it was really cool meeting you all. (2 in Denver 1 in Dallas) I had a great time at the bar the first time I was there but the second time the kitchen had issues and had closed down. I will still go visit next time I am in Denver for a game. I will still paint my head when I’m there on game day even though watching them can seem like a head ache. Hopefully we figure out something soon to turn this team around because I am tired of being excited for next season instead of this one. My rant is over and thanks for the pod. You guys do a great job. Go Broncos!!!!!

Hey all,

I would love to see the Broncos win next week, as small of a chance as that is, it would be amazing to prevent the Chiefs from the 1 seed. Also, I’m so envious of the Bengals and the QB WR combo they have (that was basically shutout in the Broncos game!) because they’re just so fun to watch. WHY can’t we have that!?

Do you guys think Elway does anything that relates to personnel (either coaches or players) anymore? Or is that all George and sometimes Vic?

Thanks
