May have been mentioned already, but it seems to me that the worst case scenario for Drew Lock is Christian Hackenberg – a second round pick who didn’t even get a shot at starting. Please tell me this unreasonable… I would like to believe that Drew Lock is a lot better than Hackenberg.

So for Halloween I dressed as a “disgruntled Broncos fan”, basically wore my Von Miller jersey and a sign attached saying “free drew lock”. I tweeted this at Elway on Twitter, hopefully he gets a lot of these tweets to get the point that there are a lot of disgruntled fans.

Anyways I know the draft is a long while away but since we are most likely drafting top 10 I’m already looking at possible draft prospects. With hopefully Drew Lock being the QB we’ve been looking for, what would be the first non QB the Broncos should draft.

I know the obvious narrative is that we need to see Drew Lock out there with the 1s for 3-5 games to consider this season a productive step in the rebuild.

What other things would be on your wish list from now to Week 17?

I think for me it would be to extend Simmons, Shelby and McGovern in-season. A ton of reps for Justin Hollins, Dre’Mont Jones and Winfree. In addition, I would love to see Harris on a 4 for 45 deal and put a plan in motion for him to essentially replicate Kareem Jackson’s transition to safety once he hits year 3 of that extension. If Wolfe is willing to stay on a 2 year deal, would love to have him back as well. Both of those guys deserve to be in the ring of fame, the cap space will be there, and they are not blocking a young player from getting reps as the roster currently sits.

While I’m here, I’ll sneak in a way too early draft/offseason wish list from the Big 10 talent pool to help this team score more than 15 points per game:
Round 1 – Wirfs
Round 1 (trade back in) – Tyler Biadasz
Round 2/3 – Tyler Johnson (WR Minnesota)

Fellas the real reason they won’t play Drew is because the Patriots really wanted him in the draft last year but wouldn’t make a move on him and now regret it. Now they have a deal in place with the broncos to basically not play drew so he stays healthy and during the off-season trade lock for Brady straight up ?

Hey guys, all the bewilderment and confusion the Broncos front office is causing is leading me to one logical conclusion. The Broncos are now intentionally tanking! I present the following as evidence:

1. Joe Flacco calls out the play calling accusing them of not being aggressive and “afraid to win”.
2. The Broncos are dragging their feet with conflicting and confusing excuses as to why Drew Lock’s playing, and practice time table, continues to be delayed, though Drew is clearly healthy and ready to go.
3. The Broncos willingness to put an unproven practice team QB on the field as the new starting QB. This really screams tank!
4. When asked when Drew Lock will play, Fangio’s cryptic comment: “We have a plan.”
5. Lastly, The Broncos sticking with Garett Bolles this long, when clearly he is not the answer at left tackle. Any other team would have benched or replaced him a long time ago.

Looking at these things, tanking is the only thing that really adds up in my head. Love to hear your thoughts, or other examples of tanking evidence. Thanks guys!

I can’t express how excited I am for winning the WGT Championship grand prize!!! I’d like to thank the DNVR Broncos family, WGT, and my son for encouraging me to be at least half as good at digital golf as he is at the real thing. Now I have to choose! Do I fly back to the homeland for a game or add to my jersey collection. Decisions, decisions.

Now for some Broncos… this may come as a surprise, but we suck. You guys do such a great job keeping us informed about our team, but you do an even better job at keeping our attention as they wander off into the darkness of suckage. How do you guys keep from getting disinterested when it becomes clear, early on, that the season is over. We all rely on you guys, so what do you rely on?

Good morning men. Haven’t had a chance to say this yet, but welcome to the family Mase! You have made DNVR’s already amazing Broncos coverage even better!

Zac, my man. I’ve noticed that your comment reading abilities have really improved over the last year. You’ve really smoothed out your delivery, and your cadence and inflection have been decisive and accurate. I’m only listening on the podcast, but when I close my eyes and hear your voice, I am imagining that your footwork has really taken a step up as well. I can only imagine that it is all the PRACTICE you have been getting week in and week out on the pod.

This is the worst I’ve ever seen the team in the 30-ish years I’ve been following them so I’ve been thinking about the idea of cheering for the Broncos to lose that you guys presented a week or so ago. I’m having a really hard time wrapping my head around it and to be honest, as a fan who loves the team, I don’t think I can do it. The best I can do is understand that losing may suck to watch, but can be a better thing in the long run. That said, do you have any tips on how a fan can actively cheer for their favorite team to lose?

Last night I attended a Halloween Party. I went as chad Kelly, of course. The usual suspects were in attendance – ghosts, goblins, ghouls and guys going in Gradishar era getups.

Much to my surprise, however was a fantastic, well-crafted and mind blowingly accurate human dressed up as a glass of unflavored ice milk. We struck up a long convo about all our hopes and aspirations, mine involving actually playing a down in the NFL and his to design plays that came nowhere near anything with flavor. I was quickly miffed and moved to a corner where a mike linebacker dressed as a mixed drink made melodies with his mandibles.

I’m not for sure, but that guy in that milky costume sure sounded like Scangerello. If anyone can confirm, let me know.

On that note, what are some of you gents’ strangest Halloween memories?

Excuse me, but did you say that Broncos fans should stop going to games? Why? What possible reason do you have for ehy that might work? Because you don’t like John Elway? Okay, so John Elway came in and hurt the Broncos so now we shouldn’t support our team. By the same logic, if I hated Andrew Mason-which I don’t but my confidence is shaken (not stirred)- then i should unsubscribe from DNVR and demand a refund and say to everyone that Mase is the worst and DNVR sucks because of him and I have lost all reason to sub because of it. I just gotta say, 70s Packers dealt with this bull for longer than we have, and my father, the Pack Man, tells me every week the fans STILL filled out the stadium and supported their team. Let this be a lesson to you. The wrinkles will be worked out with successful franchises but there’s no need to stop going to the games, buying the merch, and enjoying the atmosphere. The only message empty seats sends anybody is the Broncos fanbase is mostly bandwagoners from the Peyton Manning era and they aren’t good fans. That’s not the Broncos i know and if you were truly trying to be the voice of Broncos Country you would support the idea of being a good fan. Dont let your frustration into your fandom. It’s at that point apathy sets in and you begin to be a bad fan. Still love you guys and your pod, but guys get it together. The best is yet to come and the bad days are numbered. This December I will proudly sport my Orange and Blue at my first Broncos game when i head over to Denver. Stay strong, men and keep the ship steady.

Wanted to bring up the Drew Lock situation again. I believe the buzz about it was never the broncos intention to play Lock this year. Elway has to know hes going to be judged harshly on a massive scale yet again if Lock doesnt work out.
He initially said that this was going to be a 2 to 3 year developement process.
So i think people need to hold their horses when they say we need to draft a QB already because the coaching staff obviously has seen something they dont like. Really?
Did anyone see the Scangarello interview yesterday? He said locks doing great, we’re gonna have to get Lock in here to see where hes at? Wow.
I think Johns been in charge of this slow roll development train the whole time. Its obvious fangio and scangs have no clue how Lock is actually doing.
I dont know about u guys but after that Lock interview i was on the pumped train! Cant wait to see this guy!

Hey guys! It seems we already know that Brandon Allen just isn’t the guy here already… what are your thoughts of throwing Brett Rypien in at Minnesota and at Buffalo? I realize those are tough road games but would it hurt to just see how he does and see what he’s got??

I’m really excited for this week because I feel like I can truly root for Denver to win! Sure, losing would help our draft stock, but as the legendary head coach Herm Edwards once said, “You play to win the game!” Getting a win or two with Allen would prove to stubborn ‘ol John that this team doesn’t need Flacco for 2020, and even if Allen plays well, Elway and Co can’t seriously stick with Allen for the rest of the year over Lock… right?

Thank you Zac and thank you Mase for bringing my absurd little skit to life! Mase, your World of Suck was even better than I imagined!

On a more positive note than Lock’s delayed development, I came across this interesting note from PFF:

Malik Reed is the 8th highest graded rookie this year. His 78.0 places him 20th out of all EDGE defenders, which is higher than Von. He’s been great against the run, with the third highest grade in the league, and good in pass rush too. His 15.8% win rate trails only Josh Allen and Nick Bosa among rookies.

If Reed keeps this up, do you think Elway and Fangio will recognize his starter-level play and treat him as more than a depth piece? Of course, he’s not going to supplant Von or Chubb, but perhaps this could lead to more packages that get all three on the field together?

Mase, I usually agree with you and I appreciate your opinion. But this is broncos country and we show for every game. Win or lose pay for 4 stay for 4. We stand behind our team even if our front office is making decisions that are contrary to common sense our fans stand behind our players. It took 13 seasons to finally get a winning season. 1973. If we have to wait another 13 I’ll be there cheering at mile high. Also if anyone has a ticket they won’t use to prove a point. Let me know and I’ll tell them how to play.

Hmm.. Sooooooooooo looks like Wacco wasn’t the answer, and maybe we should’ve started Allen sooner?! Allen played better in the first half of this game, than Flacco did the entire season. I also think it goes with out saying the the energy around the team on the field, is MUCH better! I know it’s just one game, but that’s all we’ve been asking for as fans.
