I have watched many Broncos games over the past couple years and I was genuinely dumbfounded by the quarterback play on Sunday. He had a good game but what stuck out to me was the moxie and the poise under pressure. It also should be noted that he throws a beautiful deep ball. He has his share of issues, footwork, accuracy, etc. but there’s no reason to believe those problems can’t be fixed i.e. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. How many more wins do you guys see this squad getting the rest of the season? I’m fully onboard the Lock train so I’ll say we’re 8-8 till we ain’t! P.S. With the new direction the Broncos are heading do you guys think they will do any sort of rebranding or new uniforms?

Hey boys. Welcome back R.K. It’s strange how much I agree with you & Zac. Hang in there Mase, we WILL get on the same page one day Debbie Downer! Here is a part of the Lock effect, 2 Broncos/CU questions. 1. Where’s Waldo Winfree? Is he still a member of this football club? 2. Why is Scangs determined to only run Phil between the A & B gaps? Can’t both Royce & Booker be the 2 to run between the tackles along with Drew on QB sneeks? Phil won’t be able to get to 1,000 yards 2 years in a row if this continues the final 3 games! 🙁 GO DREW/BRETT/PHIL/WINFREE/BRONCOS/ZOOMIES

Fellas, I just ordered my tickets for the Broncos game this weekend! This will be my second game ever going to and I hope that it delivers the same type of memories as my first! The first Broncos game I ever went to was for my 16th birthday. We were playing the 49ers on Sunday Night Football which was the game when Peyton broke the touchdowns record! Even better it happened in the endzone I was sitting in to make it even more amazing! I know it’s hard to top that first live Broncos experience but here’s to hoping Lock secures the bag against the Chiefs!!

Furthermore to the point RK made about Drew Lock being a parting gift as Elway walks off into the sunset once again – I believe the 2020 draft will be the most important of his tenure. To truly set up Drew for continued future success and cement Elway’s legacy as a great GM, he needs to knock this draft out of the park and give Drew the weapons and protection he must have to duel with Mahomes for the next 5-10 years!
I cannot remember being so excited for the whole draft process to begin! I will enjoy the now, but the future is bright in Denver!
Mile High Singh
Hey guys,
Bold prediction from the ManningFacedGod, Drew Lock will throw over 300 yards and 3+ TDS and only 1INT or none. We will witness a masterpiece of a performance this Sunday. Drew Lock will go back to his hometown and show that he’s the best QB in the AFC west!! Guys last Sunday was not a fluke, the way Drew played with such poise and confidence demonstrates why his great level play will continue. We have our QB of the future boys!

I am so excited for the meet up! However, I didn’t see Mase’s comment here…and I don’t remember anyone else saying anything about it on this pod. Is KC Spy doing something? Are plans being made that I’m not aware of? Because I want in! 🙂
Thanks for everything!
Andrew Mason
All right, folks — respond to this comment if you want to be in on a get-together Saturday night:
Also, suggest which BBQ place you want to meet — Joe’s Kansas City, Jack Stack & Q39 are my preferred spots, but we can discuss and work something out here:

Mase, I am in! I’m not too big a stickler on place…but I’ll throw out Joe’s! All I’ll need is the time so I know when to leave home.

Hey Mase, thanks for spearheading the meetup discussion here. My vote is for Jack Stack on Ward.
I’m still down to coordinate the meetup so you can focus on traveling here and prepping to cover the game.
If you’d like me to do so, just say on the pod what restaurant we’re going to, what time, and have people email me at jonceewagner@gmail.com so I can get a headcount and make the reservation.
If you’d prefer to coordinate and have me help in some other way just let me know.

Alright I think I got the figured out. Drew lock to mase right now is like a Girl friend you’re trying to figure out if she can be you’re wife but your not quite sure. But The other two Guys are already getting married. I’m with mase wait till the last game before proposing.

Guys: the has been bag secured (think imma start saying after every win with as long as Drew is under center lol). Now all we need is a LT and WR and we will be rolling! My hope is we draft the kid out of Iowa and the we draft my guy Devin Duvernay in the 3rd or 4th! He lead the nation in receptions, had multiple 10+ reception game & plays WR but runs like RB and also he was a Senior captain so he has that leadership that Elway is looking but what do you guys think? Much love to all three of you GO BRONCOS GO DNVR!!

I truly believe that if Drew Lock wins in Arrowhead on Sunday, he can win anywhere and beat anyone. I just have a couple of comments/questions:
1. What do you guys think of Logan Wilson out of Wyoming. I know that linebacker is not a top priority for the Broncos this offseason, but I think that he is one of the more underrated linebackers in the country. Do you think he would be a good scheme fit in Fangio’s defense?
2. What do you guys think about a 8 or more team college playoff? Personally, I think that the current system is unfair to “lower” teams. Teams like Wyoming or Georgia State do not have a chance of making it to the playoffs because they don’t have a tough enough schedule to even be considered. What if college football did something like March Madness? Where any team has a chance to win a national championship. Just a thought I had, and I would really like to hear your opinions.

Sorry, my question about Rahim Moore’s depth perception relating to Drew Lock’s starts in 2019 was perhaps too vague. I wonder less about the implications of Peyton Manning earning another ring in 2012, and more about the implications of Joe Flacco NOT earning one. Without that ring there’s no big “elite” contract. And he likely isn’t in Baltimore long enough to be replaced by Lamar Jackson. Without the title of super bowl champion on his resumé, I’d assume Elway certainly doesn’t pull the trigger on that trade in 2019 or earlier and we don’t sit through 8 games of Sleepy Joe before they finally got Drew on the practice field. Totally useless speculation but I thought perhaps a fun thought exercise anyway. Y’all have a great day and have fun at the meet-up. Also Texas BBQ > All

Mase,
Maybe a Spanos question but how about a cross over with Ryan and Ben and do a take the case to court about Drew being “the” guy. Ryan and Ryan v. Zac and Ben you as judge with A. Rod and Allie as baliffs. Thoughts?

Guys, you’re killing me! Mase knows everything and you’ve never heard of the former clam capital of the world? We are located almost at the halfway point between LA and SF right about an hour north of Santa Barbara. It’s one of the most beautiful places, you should check it out. Our famous beers are Firestone Walker 805 and DBA. I’ve seen them on tap in Denver you should check them out if you havent already.
What do you think are the chances Denver gets big heads coming off a big win, this week and get a reality check? Usually this always happens to bad teams that are poorly coached. I think personally we are giving Scangarello too much credit for one decently called game. I still think the seat should be very warm on him. Hes not a spread offense guru that I think would maximize Lock’s potential. BUT if you keep Scangs around next season you might want to consider a move for Nick Mullins as the backup. I know for a fact that Scangs loves and truly believes in Mullins. So you bring in a young high ceiling, young backup to be there as a contingency plan if Lock falls apart. He already has proven at this level very competent at running this system. Trust me on this one, Scangs believes Nick Mullins is a starter and preffered him to Garappolo in San Francisco. As I mentioned in a previous podcast I have my sources (Ask RK)!

Hey guys-
First time commenting but I feel like I know you guys more than you know. I love hearing your takes on the best team in sports, especially now that Mase is on the pod.
Anyways, my take for the Chiefs game this week is that Phil goes off and has over 175 total yards to go along with a couple of touchdowns (one through the air and one on the ground).
Drew doesn’t have a particular big game but still looks more and more like THE guy that can lead the franchise for years to come!
Broncos win a nail biter 31-27. Von Miller has a vintage game ending sack when it matters most.
Love you guys and keep up the good work!
P.S.
I drive for UPS, so I don’t mind the long pods. I actually love to see the 2 hour plus when I open it up!

Anthony Castonzo has been brought up as an option to fix the hole at LT. But the Colts will have more cap space than any team in the NFL next year at over 100 million and they’ve built their identity around the offensive line. Given that, is there any reason to believe they wouldn’t do whatever’s necessary to keep him? If there’s an in-house replacement they feel good about, that would make sense, otherwise I don’t see why they would ever let him hit the open market. Apologies for being a wet blanket in the middle of Drewcember, but I don’t think the fix at left tackle will come that easily. Keep up the great work, boys!

In light of the “90 yard Touchdown!” Video starring P Rivers – i’d Like to hear you fine gents’ top three most annoying QBs list. This might be a guy that just got under your skin with his attitude or had you throwing your hat with his on-field play or both.
Mine are
Aaron rodgers (a smugness that just gets in my craw)
Of Course Tb12 ( his sad panda act when things go awry is next level)
And Kerry Collins ( I can’t really explain it – maybe all the ints and paucity of plays outside the pocket, I don’t know )
You don’t need to think too hard here, just go with your gut.

Ryan, with regard to Joe Burrow, you were asking who is a college one year wonder who panned out in the NFL. Russell Wilson. No good at NC State. Transferred to Wisconsin. He was electric in one season and is now an elite NFL QB.
Lovethunderdownunder
It’s starting to feel like 2020 and 2021 are potentially incredibly profound seasons for the team…
Cost controlled QB? Sure, but it’s more like cost controlled offense! Look at the potential quality of that side of the ball if the rise continues. Even if you have to pay for one more “expensive” OL help, it’s still potentially an amazingly efficient offense from a cost perspective. Sutton, Fant, Risner, Lindsay, Freeman – all on rookie deals for some time.
So the cap goes to the defense…. and boy can they spend it. Keep Simmons, keep CHJ…pay for a top tier DT? Where else can the money go?
Am I missing something here or are we staring at an incredible window of opportunity?
Lovethunderdownunder
Sorry – I’ve noticed something else. You know that thing where when you spend time with people you start copying their mannerisms?
Well I seem to be dropping at least one DNVR seeded phrase every day.

Hi Fellas!
As the resident Carolinian here, RK even insinuating Carolina BBQ being terrible is bull plop! Get me an IV of that amazing vinegar based sauce right now!
I write this as I sit on the light rail heading into uptown CLT. Mase, during your time with the Panthers what BBQ joints were your favorite in the Charlotte area? Mine are Sweet Lew’s and Mac’s Speed Shop.
Hopefully y’all will be able to make it out to Broncos/Panthers game next season. Would love to get some Brews and BBQ with you guys.

1. Mase- the Simpsons reference about the Broncos that I was referring to you yesterday was pretty much the same one when Homer found out that Hank Scorpio bought him the Broncos instead of the Cowboys.
2. One of the reasons I hope Lock works out, is because the rivalry between Lock and Mahomes has a chance to be an all-timer.
Lock is from Kansas City. He grew up a Chiefs fan. He said he was upset that the Chiefs drafted Patty instead of waiting for him. It also came to light this week that Lock used to date Clark Hunt’s daughter. There’s SO many levels to this
3- Mr B
4- Mase, I’m a big fan of picking up James Bradberry in FA this offseason, so it’s nice that we’re on the same page. He’s very comfortable in zone coverage after years under Ron Rivera, has great size and length and above average ball skills. The only thing is that his tackling can get a bit sloppy although he’s certainly a willing tackler so more of a technical issue than an effort one.
5. Another free agent that I’m really high on this offseason? Randall Cobb. Veteran slot receiver who can be a chain mover and also bring significant experience to a young receiver room. Plus has good YAC skills and is an overall upgrade to Hamilton. Won’t break the bank either.

Quick weird tidbit:
Drew Lock will play in every other variation of the Broncos uniform before donning our primary home jersey.
Obviously this is an incredibly significant factor in his success or failure in this, his first season of professional football.
BroncosFanInNYC
Hey guys,
Apologies if this has already been asked, but it looks like Odell Beckham wants out of Cleveland. Sounds like his preferred destinations are 49ers and New England, but if the Broncos COULD trade for him, should they? I think he and Sutton would probably be the best pair of WRs outside of Tampa Bay
If yes, how many picks and what round would you be willing to offer Cleveland?
Nickstixx
Hey guys,
I know it’s exciting times with Drew Lock, but I want to look a little bit ahead to next April in the draft. Say the Broncos are sitting at pick 11, and they have the following players on the board: Derrick Brown, Tristan Wirfs, Jerry Jeudy, and CeeDee Lamb. Who do you pick?
I know it will depend on what they do in FA, but I’m curious to hear you guys speak about what you would want the team to do.
Thanks!
NickCox
I did it. I haven’t played madden, or video games at all for that matter, in a LONG time, but I just HAD to pull out my PS2 and create Drew Lock to start a franchise. I had to do it….
Anyway, I can’t remember who it was who asked if they should start Kyler or Lock. Here is how I view fantasy decisions when they are close… You are trying to decide between two players who realistically, based off of the situations, are similar in floor and ceiling. With that being said, ALWAYS pick the one who you’d rather lose with. Allow me to explain. If KYLER fails you but Drew has a great game, you are going to be kicking yourself for not starting your guy AND taking an L on the way out. However, if you start Drew and he has a bad game with Kyler on your bench who happens to have a great game, well, at least you started your guy. Basically, fantasy football should enhance your football watching experience. Who would you rather root for this weekend: Lock, or Kyler? So sorry for the long comment. I hope it makes sense and helps.

I liked the one commenter that mentioned the Rocky Mountain lifestyle may appeal to Brandon Scherf. Better get Jewell, Fant, and Kreiter to start the recruiting campaign to get him to Denver (Go Hawks btw).
My question is what do you guys think is the better option for us with free agency & draft? Assuming we are drafting where we are now (10-14 range). Hope for one of the two main OT’s to fall into our laps and go WR in the 2nd and use FA money to resign CHJ, Shelby Harris, Simmons, Wolfe, etc. OR go the Mase route and sign a Costanzo at LT (I agree with Zac and doubt he will even make it to market) or a Sherff at guard and then take a Ceedee Lamb or Henry Ruggs in the 1st and draft a developmental OT in the 2nd or 3rd?
Sorry for the long comment but was just curious what you guys thought best case scenario is for Denver’s 2020 success. All of this I’m assuming Drew Lock continues to display that he is THE GUY.
Thanks fellas! Keep up the good work!

In the press conference, Vic just said Drew is going to have to learn how to go to KC once a year! Despite pumping the breaks, it looks like Vic really does believe Drew is The Guy. My theory is that Vic is strategically taking some pressure off Drew. He’s bringing his young star up with care. Too high expectations and hype can hurt your growth. Let the kid grow, learn, and continue to challenge him. Vic impresses me once again. With a young core and Vic at the helm, we have a lot to be excited about. Feels good to have hope again! #ANewHope
Any hot takes on the new Star Wars movie Mase? I’m rewatching all the old movies in prep.
Steve_Atwater_HOFer
Fun Fact of the Day: since 1994 the Broncos have just as many playoff wins IN arrowhead, as the chiefs do!
I have a really good feeling about the game this Sunday. KC will have no choice but to adopt the game plan they had in our first meeting, because it worked. I believe this gives us an advantage, especially with a mastermind like Fangio. Couple that with a fearless young offense and you have the recipe for an upset. The Broncos are beaming with confidence and KC is focused on not screwing up the post season for the 50th year in a row!
What’s more likely this weekend, Lindsey rushing for 150 yards or Drew Lock throwing for 300 yards again?
Dear Mighty Three. Greetings once again from across the pond. I’ve enjoyed the debate on Vic’s “do away with divisions” comments. A European perspective: we are used to pro sports in which promotion and relegation are the norm. While it maintains meaningful, must win, games for those at the bottom of the league it isn’t perfect. It can end up creating leagues within leagues, true of all the top soccer leagues in Europe, where only a few teams can realistically win, a few battle relegation and the rest are consigned to ordering themselves into mid table mediocrity. One of THE best things about the NFL and its structure is parity. In the main games are close and competitive. I do favour fewer divisions, so that weak teams don’t sneak the playoffs at the expense of better teams, but keep some inter conference games, particularly city/state/historic rivalries, and no promotion or relegation! Enjoy the podcast every day – keep up the good work. Christopher

Hey boys, first of all I’m so glad I could inspire Mase to take up a new side gig as the DNVR vocalist and crooner. Magical stuff. No lyrics today but I’m hoping we can Lock in some new ones post a Denver win in KC. I’m thinking Nick the Lounge Singer style…

I know we are all a little Pass Happy right now but what’s happened to the run game? Has the lose of JANO been the reason? Will Phil get over the 1000yrd make this year? The past games without JANO, Phil has only been gettin 50-60yds/game. Never noticed having a FB like JANO helps the running game.

Maybe I should change my name to Mr Invisible! Last week I commented on 5 episodes and was skipped every time!
Anyway I will be more brief today.
1. All aboard the Lock Train! I have been telling friends (not bronco fans) all season that after Flacco is when the new Broncos begin. And here it is just in time for the holidays!
2. I cannot wait for the game against the Chiefs this week. Drew will shine.
3. For Mr B! and now Drew!
4. I was originally hating HARD on Scangs. But I am feeling better now! Maybe his issues with Flacco are because Flacco can’t do anything right! He is growing and I and everyone should give him more of a chance. Hopefully he and Drew can form an unbeatable team to complement Vic’s awesome defense. I just hope Scangs can figure out how to use Phil and Royce correctly! This was the one thing the previous coaching staff got right!
5. When I finally subscribed I forgot to put the promo code to vote for which Pod host. If it counts I would have put RK! I love all 3 of you equally but I credit RK for my new love of White Claw and Breck Brews. We were also being Keto Kids at the same time. But what really made me decide on RK was either this offseason or last, RK became the only person I have ever heard mention one of my favorite desserts ever! Strawberry Rhubarb pie/cobbler! By that I mean friends, podcasts, cooking shows… none of them ever mention Strawberry Rhubarb desserts! In Los Angeles I wouldn’t even know where to find Rhubarb. It is an amazing combination and everyone should try! I could eat it every day. When I was a kid living with my parents in Oregon they grew rhubarb and strawberries in the garden and made fresh cobbler from that! DELICIOUS! I remember sneaking bites of it cold right out of the pan in the fridge. It’s great cool or warm! With ice cream it’s even better (for you Zac)! Mase let us know if you have ever had the pleasure! If I ever own a restaurant it would be my featured dessert!
Keep up the great work guys! Again sorry for the very long comment but I am not the type to comment every episode or even every week. Happy Holidays to the best pod community out there!
Ryan Koenigsberg
AuthorHey man! First of all, thanks for the love! Rhubarb is the absolute best.
About what time have you been commenting? There is a bit of lag time between when we record the pod and when we post, so if you comment after like 11:30, there’s a good chance we’ve already finished recording.
Anyway, thanks for the support!
LAbronco30
Thanks RK! I tried to comment at different times to try but no worries! I’ll be mindful of that timing in the future.
BroncoBornBroncoBred
I’ll help you with the one year wonders a little Ryan:
Baker as not a one year wonder he was a heisman finalist the year before he won it
Kyler was one
Cam newton was a one year
Haskins was a one year
Kyle allen was kind of a one year
Probably more just don’t feel like doing the research.
Also on the Patriots thing I’m sorry I hate to disagree with Mase and RK. I don’t think the Pats did anything wrong. It was an independent contractor, also even if Belichick did have him do this it’s not to cheat. Bill is just trying to build the narrative to have the patriots be the enemy again because that’s when they play best.
TRut
Hey guys,
Just subscribed recently after freeloading for a while, sorry. But before I talk anything Broncos I’d like to say thanks for this great pod it really helps get through the week and you guys are great host. One more thing, Zac and Ryan I’ve really come to enjoy hearing you guys, and dont take this the wrong way but I came here after hearing Mase was on the pod, even though he and I differ politically, that doesn’t mean I can enjoy when some one is an expert at their craft and Mase is definitely an expert so I had to sign up using g the code Mase. Sorry for the long comment best wishes for The DNVR, and Go Broncos!

I’m pumped so many people are bought in on Lock as the dude and buying his jersey, but I get flashbacks to one of the top 5 worst financial decisions of my life; buying a Paxton Lynch jersey. Teenage me was far too optimistic and naive (bring on the hate, I deserve it)
Lock is obviously not Lynch, but my night terrors flare up every time I think about buying a rookie QB’s jersey…
