Hey guys.
Two things to tell you today…
1. After watching lots more tape, I’m finally sold on Mac Jones. If the Broncos can’t get Watson, let’s go get Jones. He genuinely excites me.
2. I finally launched an NFL podcast over here in the UK. It’s called the UK NFL Breakfast Show. I’m really excited by it. Hope that we can talk Broncos one day over the summer for a season preview!
Cheers guys

Is Zaven Collins a Fangio Style LB – could he be a trade down target? I’ve seen this happen in mocks online and I’m intrigued.

1. Sorry for the long one yesterday. I’ll try to be more succinct. Clearly the ADHD meds hadn’t kicked in yet. 😉
2. (accidentally used this 2 yesterday)
3. Mr. B
4. I agree that If the Broncos can get DDW, they should. He’s *clearly* better than Drew. I just think that there are some lines that should not be crossed
5. In my opinion, it’s a bad idea to trade away huge parts of the young core that the Broncos have spent the last few years building in order to accommodate it. If it requires trading away, say, Jeudy, to make it happen? I’m not super interested.
6. I don’t know that anything less would pry him away from Cal McNair’s clutches. Remember, his dad was the guy who believed very firmly that players who believed should be seen and not heard. If he inherited this trait from his father, DDW’s not going anywhere.
7. Mr. E
8. I seem to have a problem with lists. 🙂
Thanks again for the outstanding work and helping to brighten so many people’s days.

Stupid typos. That should be “…believed very firmly that players should be seen…”

MY BOYS!
Hope you guys are doing great. Quick question for you all today. First off, Mase, do you ever plan on writing another book? And RK and Zac, do you guys ever plan on writing your first book? And as always, thanks for everything you incredible people do.
Much love,
Sebastian

Fellas,
What are your favorite moments that happened during a sporting event that made you say
“WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!”
For example, my favorites are:
A guy crashing into a boxing ring with a giant fan during the Holyfield v Bowe fight
Bobby Knight throwing a chair onto the court
Tie Domi fighting a fan that fell into the penalty box

Guys guys, we can’t cut Jackson. He’s our direct line to Derrick.
But if I’m completely serious I just feel that if you’re firing Kareem Jackson, Derrick Deshaun Watson will be less high on Broncos. I wouldn’t go to the company that just fired my buddy.
I repeat my opinion from the last 3 days, cut Von Miller, everything solved.

After finished the podcast and hearing the 75m Von offer I was so shocked I almost shoved my hand into the Spindle moulder. That offer would be batshit crazy. Von is barely worth 10m for God’s sake.

Legends, a pod or two behind so pardon me if it’s been answered..
All the talk about older vets being a ‘mentor’ for Lock doesnt seem like a viable option. I figure if the older vets would be willing to take on a mento type role they’d becoming QB coaches right? If they’re still playing why would they want to ride a bench? These guys have to be some of the most competitive people around.
Shouldn’t it be the QB coach that mentors Lock, and not a vet QB?

I was listening to the Around the NFL Podcast this week and one of the guys mentioned that during Pat Shurmur’s time in Cleveland, Mike Lombardi mentioned to him “Anytime Shurmur’s offense is on the field, you always know what’s coming next”. This hit me hard because I spent the entire season calling the plays based on the situation and pre-snap formation, and I’d estimate that I was correct about 80% of the time on run vs pass, and about 70% of the time on where a run was going when a run was happening. If I can do it from my couch, I know opposing defenses can do it better.
You guys mentioned that if the team is 0-3 to start the season that Fangio may be in trouble… but what about Shurmur? With this cast of players any half decent QB should be able to put up points every week, and while Lock is green and has turnover issues, he’s not a bad player based on the eye test. I really think Paton aught to look hard at the offensive game plan and the play calling before making any decisions on the HC if they have another slow start.

Yesterday you guys talked about Justin Sternod a bit and his coverage skills. Is it commonplace for a coverage LB to work in with the secondary to help hone their coverage an ball skills to a higher level?
If not, it should be.

My apologies, for being long in the tooth, my hot takes do need some clarity. In regards to my large offer for Von, I had to go hot take to get people to consider where the Von camp would be. We’d all love the Broncos to get a low ball offer, but under the Elway watch in the past few seasons, we keep pushing it down the line and end up paying more. While 25M for a elite pass rusher seems insane, after 3 years, it could be 30M or more.
If you can tell me something conclusive why Von is declining other than 8 sacks without Chubb, I’ll accept it, but well he’s 32 and in the past Edge’s slow down, isn’t that far from the idea that Ohio State QB’s never succeed. Before the injury, you all were saying Von was looking special, or did I read this wrong.
Von doesn’t need a pay cut. If you want to save money take up the option. Cut Driskell and Vanett and get over 5M back. That gives you a year to see if the injury effects him.
Tell me what you think Shaq Barrett’s salary will be after free agency. I think Von deserves the same.
Love you guys, but we can’t be unrealistic with the value of a first ballot HOF member. Sure Swedish, will hate this, but it’s just my hot take.

Hey guys !
So is something wrong with me that I really reaaaaaalally love J.c. horn over surtain and definitely over farley for this scheme ? …..
Surtain I think would be awesome
however J.C is sooo physical and incredible in press man and zone and can tackle he embodies a FANGIO corner
Farley has incredible .. incredible ball skills and athleticism is off the charts but he looked more finesse then physical relying on his athleticism to recover when he gets beat and mirroring routes and making awesome ints with his great hands
Surtain looks complete like he has all of those skills but I love JC horn ….again he looks like a FANGIO corner
How do you guys rank em and why ? …and if we trade down where can we grab jc …..and what scenario could we trade down grab jc and Assante Samuel Jr ?
dan birk
hey guys!
i know mase mentioned jaycee horn as a potential trade down target but i really don’t see the fit for vic. not sure he’s fluid enough to play off-man consistently and there’s a lot of tackling issues there
if they were going to trade down however, i’d be into them drafting asante samuel jr. he’s undersized so you’d think he’d be limited to the slot, but he played almost exclusively outside in college and i definitely see the comparisons to jason verrett that are floating out there right now. the fluidity, loose hips and instincts are perfect for vic and he’s definitely not afraid to tackle either. what do y’all think?

It’s draft night and the broncos are in the board. 4 QBs go in the top 8, leaving Parsons, Farley, and Surtain. No team calls.. except the Chargers.
They want to move ahead of the cowboys to pick rashawn Slater. If you accept, you could possibly miss out all of these three players. Do you take the risk and trade back? And if so, what would we get in return?

Hey Y’all!
I’m loving the Three Ring Circus! You might as well put up the keys to the DNVR bar as a final prize as there’s no way Mase loses. It took him like .5 second to answer every question. I’ve been catching up on pods so I’m sorry to bring up an old topic. But Texas is clearly the best state I mean can you name another with a toast named after it?
Lastly the Alex Smith conversation confuses me. I’m hearing the same people call for him who also say we need to dump Lock as we need a huge upgrade at QB to compete. We’ve said on the podcast that there’s no way to catch up to the chiefs with mediocre QB play. So I agree with RK that it makes no sense to get Smith as you want the clear upgrade or someone with high potential. Alex Smith is neither. I mean isn’t only getting to the playoffs with 9 or 10 wins only a moral victory compared to getting to a Superbowl?

Can we please stop saying that Drew Lock is a “project”. He was a 4-year starter at Mizzou. He should be much more refined than he is. Trey Lance is a real “project”.
AZ_Bronco
What’s up ya’ll?! With you guys talking of the nightmare scenario of Von playing in Tampa yesterday with Brady, it made me wonder, what players have played with both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning (if any) and let alone won a Super Bowl with both? Just curious if it has happened.
