I can honestly say I’ve never felt this way after a game. I’m a lot more patient than most, and my comments over the years reflect that. I can’t stand who this team is. I can’t stand the embarrassment. It’s embarrassing this team calls themselves professionals.

It’s time for Paton to start leading from the front and fire this sorry excuse for a coaching staff.

I don’t know what else to say.

For the first time in 34 years I’m embarrassed to be a broncos fan.

Hi guys. It’s your boy Elroy. When Vic was hired I had hope. That is gone. When Drew was brought in I had a little hope but was worried since my Kentucky Wildcats smashed him. That is gone. When Pat Suckmur was brought in after the end of the first Vic no fun gio season I knew we were in trouble. I have commented in the past I do not understand why. Now Im mad. Pat Bowlen has to be turning in his grave. I hate long sleeve shirts but I refuse to leave my arm exposed because of my Bronco tattoo. I am ride or die Bronco but we are all out embarrassing. Payton needs to become the Axe Man and start Chopping heads. At this point I’m okay with we forfeit the rest of the season and spend it talking to coaching candidates. Rant Over.

This team suuuuuuuucks. Two weeks ago after the Steelers game I commented on here: “when this defense needs to get a stop do you ever think they will? No!” And we all felt the same way last night. That being said, this is an era of OFFENSIVE FOOTBALL and we can only muster up 14 points. This team is a joke!

Players appear to have no heart. Coaches seem to have no brain. The GM appears to have no courage to make changes. And unfortunately this isn’t like the Wizard of Oz because this sad sack of a team doesn’t have these things all along and they just don’t know it. I really think they play heartless, the coaches are idiots and the GM showed he didn’t have courage in May and took a cornerback instead of having some balls and picking one of the two QBs left on the board.

Its me again. My apologies for making a second comment. Can we get a go fund me going to send Vic and company to space please? On a totally not related wink wink thing. Can someone link me to a great hacker that can adjust the software of a giant rocket and aim it at the sun?
Thats all for real this time.

My boys. I am out on Teddy. He had a strong start, but he’s devolved into the check down machine we thought he was. 3rd and 10? He throws for 7. 3rd and 7? He throws for 4. There was a 3rd and 3 last night where he threw for 2. His consistency would be impressive if it wasn’t so frustrating. His two TDs against the Browns came from maximum effort plays from the running backs. I don’t think Lock can save this team, but “Steady” Teddy has 5 turnovers in two games. Lock can do that AND throw 60 yards downfield to Sutton. The season is over. We might as well get some highlight reel plays along the way.

I would suggest burning it all down and building draft capital by trading everyone we can, but Paton thinks that franchise QBs are available in free agency so I don’t even know if I have faith in a full rebuild. How did we get here? How do we get out of it?

Gentlemen, greetings from the UK. Game time here was 1:20am. I turned in early last night and set the alarm for 5:45am to watch the game “as live” before work this morning.

I’d have been better to have stayed asleep dreaming of a time when the Broncos could compete against capable, well-coached teams. Because that’s all it is right now – a dream.

I consider myself an optimistic fan and don’t like to clamour for anyone to lose their job but changes are in order, starting with Shurmur.

Let’s say Fangio is fired after the season, what would that look like with the ownership situation? I remember seeing that the ownership should be settled one way or another this offseason, but would they wait until they had an owner to hire a coach? I feel like it would be weird to hire a coach in January, and then get a new owner in let’s say March, and then have a situation where the owner did not choose the new coach. What are your thoughts?

The defense was terrible, and Cleveland’s 17 points hides the fact that Denver was a kneel down and blocked field goal away from giving up 27 points last night. Part of the problem is Denver’s offense isn’t sustaining long drives anymore, which leaves the defense tired and we’re e significantly losing the time of possession battle. Teddy is obviously hurt, and I don’t understand why they’re forcing him to play. I know people are down on Drew Lock for his performance against the Ravens, but their defense is doing that against every quarterback; I mean did you see what they did to Justin Herbert last week?

hey guys,

so i think we’d all say the best three players on the field yesterday were javonte williams, pat surtain and jonathon cooper. all three are rookies, but more importantly, all 3 are george paton draft picks. i understand the context of taking a corner when qb was and is the biggest need, but at least they got a good player which is easier said than done.

going back to a few months ago, there was an agent poll that said george paton was already considered the second best talent evaluator in the league. early returns are that he added some good players in his first draft class but are y’all more confident in his ability to find talent in the draft after seeing those three guys play yesterday?

Ryan may be a clown but huge props for coming out and offering yourself up as a punching bag for fans to direct their frustration and blame. As many of the super chats said, it’s not your fault.

I turned off the game just before half time. First Broncos game I’ve stopped watching in over two years I think? This should have been our best season in a while, we were gifted an easy schedule and another gift with these Browns, instead it’s another horrid, unconscionably bad season and the fans are becoming apathetic and apoplectic.

This is what it looks like to be outcoached. Even with our LB injuries, we were the more talented/better roster on the field tonight. That said, I don’t think people realize how hard it is to play versus a strong running team with a good o-line and good running scheme with your 3rd string and 5th string??? inside LBs.

Not enough time for everything, but Von’s play was pretty good overall. I’m not sure the average fan realizes it’s virtually impossible for Von to get a sack on 70, maybe 75% of the plays cause they’re runs, screens, etc. On the maybe 8-10 plays he could get a sack, he didn’t but got 1 QB hit and good pressure once and multiple times he was chipped/double teamed. I think he played alright.

Hey guys, Wow! The last two performances by the Broncos have been disgusting to watch.  I used to be a defender of the Fangio hire, thinking he was the best canidate we interviewed for the job.  However I am DONE giving him the benefit of the doubt he has built a horrendous staff with the only exception being Mike Munchak.  He needs to be fired immediately if for no other reason to try to give back some energy to this team.  Also fire the STC and OC today!

If I am Paton am am doing the following ASAP:
Trade Melvin Gordon (to Bills maybe?), & Gram Glasglow, before the deadline for whatever you can get.  This team needs to go to Williams and Boone going forward.  Promote to interim HC whoever will start playing Cooper (over Reed) and Caden Sterns (at hybrid LB/Safety) on every play possible.  At least Sterns is laying some wood out there more than I can say for anyone else since week 3.  The whole team is playing without any effort and looks like they have been completely drained of any energy they had to begin with.  The only way I can think to create a spark is start putting the young players on the field that will play hard even if it will lead to some mistakes because of the lack of experience.  It’s not like it can make the offense or defense perform worse at this point.

Also quickly sorry RK but you were insane to think this was a guaranteed win with how badly we played against the Raiders.  I told a co-worker yesterday what all the Browns were missing and I was still worried the Broncos would loose.

After we lost the Steelers I commented that the Broncos were done. Stick a fork in them. Y’all said I was being too much and it was too early. But I knew the truth. I legit think we may go 3-14 now.

Living in Texas I was watching the game with some buddies who don’t know much about the Broncos. After the first drive we gave up I knew we were going to lose. At half time I was saying the game was already over. They said “it’s only 10-0” in which i responded..”oh I know, it’s the same story every week. We’ll start playing in the 4th quarter but it will be too little, too late”… after the game my friend said it was crazy that I called it, they started playing in the 4th but it was too late. I told my friend I wasn’t suprised at all. Same old story and I knew what was going to happen after both teams first drive…what does that say ??

The players clearly don’t respect Fangio. How do you come out flat WEEK AFTER WEEK AFTER WEEK AFTER WEEK. And then fat boy makes no changes and pretends everything is fine everyday. Think he’s too old, may have Dementia, someone should tel him he’s the decision maker and his team is hit garbage. He’s tarnishing his resume imo. I think the players may just be trying to get him fired. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Funny thing is I’m going to the game in Dallas in 2 weeks. Thankfully it’s a weekend trip and going with some buddies. Because I could care less about the game at this point.

-Sincerely an embarrassed Broncos fan………..where can I get a brown paper bag for the game to wear?!?!

Hey Gang,

Long time member, first time commenting. Listen to the pod everyday and truly appreciate what you all do. You make being a Bronco fan in Connecticut much easier.

That said, the apathy is setting in. I seem to not be able to get angry about these losses any more, they are expected at this point.

I’ve tried to give Vic the benefit of the doubt but it’s time for him to go. This team has become an embarrassment. Hope Paton does the right thing, but as Zac pointed out last night, he seems to be taking the sit back and watch approach.

Will I keep watching? Probably. Will keep listening? Without a doubt.

Wow, what a devastating three weeks. Luckily I feel like George Paton has made a lot of good draft picks. We knew he wasn’t going to shake up the coaching staff this year and take a year to observe things. I’m so ready to see him put his mark on this team after this season.

What are your predictions for the starting QB/head coach combo for the 2022 season?

My boys….Feels sad to say but I’m quitting on the season. I grew up watching the ‘08 Broncos start 4-1 and finish 8-8 and the ‘09 Broncos start 6-0 and finish 8-8. I can’t believe I bought into 3-0 hype this year when this team is complete bogus. We have too much talent to make so many mistakes and have so little heart. Our coaching staff is way too experienced to be this inept. It’s not just that we’re losing, it’s the total lack of passion and energy. Teddy seems like a great guy but he has no hype and he’s not a leader. Catch me watching actually good football the rest of the season, I’ll check back in with the Broncos in March when draft and free agency rumors start up again. I say we hire Doug Pederson for head coach, pay Kellen Moore double his salary to come be our OC and sell the farm to trade for whoever the best quarterback available is. BURN THIS HOUSE DOWN.

John Elway was a bad general manager. There. I said it.

The only good things Elway accomplished as a GM were because of his reputation as a quarterback not his skills as a manager. It gave him the credibility to land Manning. With Manning came good free agents who wanted to be part of a winning team.

Does anybody here think Elway hires Kubiak if he hadn’t played football with the guy?

What we saw last night was the product of a decade of failure by Elway. I’m glad he is gone so I can get back to remembering the Drive instead of the dumb founded looks of the coaches Elway hires.

I’ve been sitting on this take for a minute but am ready to put it out into the world:

The next Head Coach for these Denver Broncos needs to be Lane Kiffin. I know many consider him to be a massive douche, but I implore you to hear me out.

1) He ain’t a dinosaur
2) He knows offense
3) He hates the Raiders
4) For better or for worse, he’s got a ton of pride and doesn’t just sit back and take garbage play like the current staff loves to do
5) The Broncos literally could be in the Matt Corral drivers seat, and those 2 seem to be pretty simpatico

I love this idea. I’m stumping for Lane Kiffin until it happens, which given George Latin’s makeup, likely never will, but I can freaking dream.

Love y’all.

That was just painful. To make matters even worse my friend, who is a lions fan, seemed genuinely confused by how bland Denver’s offensive play calling was.

I guess the one glimmer of hope is that this may have been necessary to finally blow up the post super bowl iteration of the broncos. I don’t think any young QB is going to thrive in this offensive system and the massive lack of defensive big plays under Vic have finally caught up with him.

Denver needs a new coaching staff, modern scheme, and then to find a young qb to fit in it. It’s all on Paton now.

Love the pod though.

Been watching the Broncos religiously since I was about 10. I’m 30 now and I’ve never felt more apathetic about this franchise. I shudder to think about what we will look like facing competent opponents. Right now, the Broncos are the worst team in the league. I was hoping they’d prove me wrong last night, but if you can’t get motivated when the whole world is watching, when will you? Also, hate to say it Ryan, but I have no idea why you’re confident in this team against the lions. They would walk all over the Broncos in their current state. “Abandon hope all ye who enter!” 3-14 until they prove otherwise.

No one will ever convince me that the ONLY thing that kept John Elway(who spent his non-Peyton Manning career desperately seeking himself, and saw Josh Allen as a virtual CLONE of himself, vis-a-vis his arm, size, athletic ability, speed, and grittiness where even early in both of their careers where their stats sucked, they both had a knack for making their best throw of the day on a crucial 3rd and 7 during a game-winning drive, or taking off around the end and gaining 7 & 1/2 yards before scooting out of bounds) from drafting Josh Allen, was that he thought that the one way he could EVER get ran out of town, would’ve been to miss on his third CONSECUTIVE high ceiling low floor QB high round draft pick.

I LOVED Allen at the time, but to be fair we shouldn’t pretend that the consensus was that he was the consensus automatic pick at 5, and the majority of draft analysts and GM’s at that time would have ALSO passed on Allen at 5… especially when the Browns took Ward and Chubb(whose motor I always liked, but he never was and was never gonna be a size/speed athletic freak like other top 5 picks Von, or Garrett, or Clowney, or Young) fell into our lap.

But the worst part of it is that it’s the DOUBLE whammy that makes it so painful.
It wouldn’tve been a one-for-one swap between Allen and Chubb. We ALSO would’ve kept CSU’s Shaq Barrett, who’s not only played LOT better than Chubb, but while Chubb has missed 20 out of the 55 games since he’s been drafted, Shaq’s missed 4.

The thought of having Allen AND Barrett instead of Chubb, makes me wanna cry.

In your opinion, what are the required competences one must possess to function as a great head coach in the organisational context of the Denver Broncos?

I believe that the organisation, at any point of time, must have a clear and precise answer to this in order to fullfill their vision, values, intention, direction and objectives.
Because: If you cannot precisely define what you want, you can not hold others responsible if you do not get it.

So the Broncos play 1 more game before the trade deadline. Does the outcome of the WFT game determine if the Broncos become buyers or sellers by Nov. 2? Or will moves be made before Halloween? Feels like some guys like Von, Gordon, Kareem Jackson could be traded. Who is most likely to get traded. *Cue the outrage of Von being potentially traded for a conditional 6th.

Hey guys. I feel for you right now as it’s your job to cover this team while us fans can just back slowly away when things get bleak like they are now.
I’m very impressed with the way you are able to come up with entertaining content even when this football team, the “raw material” of your podcasts and writing, leaves so much to be desired.
I just read an intriguing article from Nicki Jhabvala about Nathaniel Hackett – Packers Offensive Coordinator. He would make a very interesting prospect as the Broncos next head coach.
In the article, Aaron Rodgers has a lot of praise for him as a leader and motivator. Just what this team needs – And maybe Aaron would be enticed to work with him again, in a Broncos uniform!
What do you think?

It’s been a rough few weeks. Going to the games in Pittsburgh and Cleveland were brutal. I can’t believe Vic and Pat Shurmur still have jobs. You guys have been the bright spot during this whole season and make my work days better. I don’t get all the “RK shouldn’t have guaranteed a win” comments – his optimism last Wednesday was a much needed boost!

All that being said, we need to fire everyone and rebuild with a modern offense and a new QB. I have one more game to go to this year – Dallas – and I’m mentally preparing myself to get hurt again.

Much love fellas!

I tried scrubbing like hell but this damn tattoo just won’t come off. Haha kidding of course I’m ride or die but dang we sure have taken a swan dive since my son and I decided to profess our love for the squad with some ink. Please win a game soon so I don’t few like I have a scarlett letter branded on me.
In all seriousness though this team has big problems. Something is just really off and it’s very obvious to anyone watching. When you watch good teams you can just see that everyone is on the same page. They play as a team. When I watch the Broncos it seems like it’s just 11 guys doing there own thing instead of playing as a cohesive unit, especially on defense. Year 3 in the Fangio system and this is what we get?? No fire, lack of communication, poor tackling, I could go on and on. And on offense there is no identity whatsoever. What are we trying to do on game day? What does the other team have to game plan for? It’s like we go into every game like it’s a preseason game. I just don’t get it. I love this team and always will (I have no choice now with this damn tattoo) but watching them is just not very enjoyable. It’s actually painful.

It’s sad, everything is just sad, I don’t know how to be a fan of a consistently bad football team, it would be one thing if they were losing close games and they were competing out there, but the players are playing uninspired, seems like no one is playing with tenacity. von is a shell of his old self, the offense is consistently awful. This is one of the most talented rosters we’ve had since Super Bowl 50 and no one seems like their heart is in it. Team has already given up on the season. Just show me you want to play for something cause if not I can do something other than hate my gf, and waste 3 hours on the couch on a fall afternoon.

Hey guys Long time no comment. Hope all is well. After Yesterday I CANNOT Watch this team anymore. I might have to wear a blindfold on Sunday just to get through the game. The Broncos have had a lot of injuries these past few years. I remember when Kubiak was our coach and he would give guys rest days and give guys more days to recover. Does Vic do anything like this….? I am just wondering why is there double the amount of Injuries then there normally is for this team. If you could shed some light on this topic “why Injuries are up” and can you pin any of that reasoning on the coaches scheme or lack of days off, etc. Thanks.
