After a certain point, I believe the players gave up. The scheme was shaky to begin with and if I’m the Walton Penner Group, I’m leaving VJ on the tarmac. Sorry not sorry, that’s the first game I’ve ever turned off in my 15+ years as a fan.

This embarrassment falls strictly on the shoulders of the Head Coach and his staff. Sean Payton’s ego really needs to be checked, it appears he bought into his own hype. So far this year, he has been incompetent at building a staff and roster, and managing a game. This is the worst game I have ever seen as a Bronco fan. Two years ago, our old friend Mase told us that worse than ANY loss in the NFL is the apathy of your fan base, and apathy has been achieved. Broncos do not look like a team that can achieve a SINGLE win this season. These players, no matter how bad they are, are NFL players, they have what millions of us wish we had, they need to be built up, coached up and properly motivated. They knew Miami was one of the best teams in the NFL, why did the coaching staff look like amateurs with no fall back plan if things go bad? Look at the Cardinals for god’s sake, they are way less talented than the Cowboys, and their coaches wrung out a gritty prideful performance out of them. Even the browns and the lions did not get embarrassed like this when they were going 0-16..im at a loss at what needs to be done to turn this around…

Sorry for the double comment, but also, we knew our team was bad, especially that our run defense was bad…TWO years ago when we couldnt stop a couple of Browns’ practice squad RBs on TNF, and yet here we are again. So many players that were there from 2 years ago, are still here. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is madness. Thank you to Zac, and the DNVR, for all of your hard work covering the Broncos during these tumultuous 8 years. Broncos are bad, but DNVR is thriving, the pod has never been better in terms of quality and great insight!

My guys. Are all-time earmuffs still a thing? What the absolute fuck did we watch on Sunday?? I have so many questions just about the absolute joke that seems to be the coaching of this team. Why do you not challenge that Courtland Sutton “incompletion”?? Even the closest ref said he had called it before he was overruled. How do you start a rookie MLB over Alex Singleton?? Why is the best cornerback in the league not shadowing Tyreek Hill the entire game when their second-best receiver is out and their third-best receiver leaves the game?? Why go for a FG when you’re down 25?? Why come into the game today with ONLY TWO safeties active?? We have PJ Locke on the PS! Why keep your starters in, especially your franchise QB, to potentially be injured when you’re down 30+?? Either Sean Payton is being so galaxy-brained 5D chess that we mere mortals cannot comprehend or he is just absolutely shitting the bed after talking mad trash this offseason. I am just absolutely flabbergasted, bewildered, and straight-up embarrassed. That is the worst performance by a sports team that I have ever seen.
And now let me get started on Vance Joseph. I get that he is a great guy, a player’s coach who is loved by most, but were we expecting anything different when Sean hired him to be our DC just five years after he was fired as the HC in Denver? How can you attempt to change the culture with the coach that started our losing ways on the staff?? According to Pro Football Reference, which values defense mainly based on points against, the 2016 Broncos had the 4th best defense in the NFL. That dropped to the 23rd-best defense in VJ’s first year. Granted it went back up to the 13th best in 2018, he never came close to cracking the top ten with the talent that was on those rosters. In Vic’s first year, the defense was top 10. Last year the defense, after all the woes it had and moving on from Bradley, was still the 14th-best in the league. Now they’re the worst. It’s crazy to say in week 3, but something HAS to change! I’m sorry for the long rant, but I am just pissed. The Denver Broncos are one of the best franchises in NFL history with a long storied history of winning. It wasn’t until 2018 that we even had back-to-back losing seasons. We just deserve better! At least I have the Braves and the future 2023-peat Georgia Bulldawgs to keep me somewhat sane…

Hey guys, been LONG time since I’ve commented, but just know that I listen to every podcast while I’m in South Korea so thank you guys so much for what you do, and your commitment to the fans.
When I woke up and saw the score I thought it was a typo. I wish it was. SEVENTY TO TWENTY?!?! What the actual EFF!! Over 700 total yds?!? 10 TDs?!??! I love this team and I always will, but damn, it sure has been hard these last 8 or 9 years. I guess we need to wake up and realize that a losing culture doesn’t just go away. It’s probably going to take longer than any of us want to admit. To watch this team go from the top in 2015 to this, is mind boggling. I don’t know if I can take another year of decline like this. Please someone make the nightmare stop! My family and I are moving to Colorado Springs next year and I hope to make it up to the bar at least a few times! See you guys then!

I got a question for Todd. Why do most football players showboat and flex when making plays while they’re getting their ass handed to them? If you’re winning or it’s close I get it…. But we were down by over 40 points and the secondary is flexing after the play for making a tackle or waving their finger after an incompletion…. Like I’m Sorry Mathis but y’all had 10 touchdowns on y’all and you’re a big reason.. how about you put your little finger away and understand the situation, because you’re not stopping anyone, when don’t buy into your flex bro….. It’s so embarrassing

Mims the single bright spot in a rapidly deteriorating season. My expectations were not super high – just 9-8 and a winning season at last.
Now, even my natural optimism has wilted in the heat of the Miami visitors sideline. What a mess.

Where do we go from here Todd?

This team needs is not a player or coach away. They are a roster away. Here is how I would approach this:

1. This year: Take any and all trades. Goal is to finish with a top 3 pick.
2. Draft a top tier QB in the 2024 draft.
3. Take a Russel Wilson dead cap hit all in 2024. Trade and cut anyone else to make the math work. Goal is to land a top 5 pick the 2025 draft.
4. Begin restocking with the 2025 draft. Front load and sign 1 or 2 blue chip free agents (should have massive cap room this year).
5. 2025 Season – Goal to see if QB drafted in 2024 is the real deal, and identify biggest roster holes.
6. 2026 Begin filling more holes, goal of this season is to see improvement. 8-8 record with promising signs.
7. 2027 Sign a couple more big free agents, solid draft. This is the year we want to see a playoff birth.
8. 2028 Goal to compete for the AFC on a go forward basis, tweaking and adding to roster as needed.

This team is 4+ years away from perennially competing, I do not want to see any short cuts, would love to see them commit to a full rebuild. Would like to see Surtain and Mims stay, but no one is safe. How say you?

Alright guys I figured it out, to quote Taylor Swift I’m the problem, it’s me! Hear me out….I moved back to Colorado the summer of 2011 and what followed: Tebowmania, five playoff appearances, the greatest offense in history, an all time great defense, two Super Bowl appearances and a ring on Todd’s finger. I left in 2016 to go overseas and what’s happened since? I was also in high school in Denver in the late 90’s….the evidence is mounting: I’m the curse anytime I’m not home. I’ve been everywhere from Saudi to Afghanistan, to Ukraine since 2016 and we’ve been everywhere but the winner’s circle. We need to get me home an break the curse, hopefully before I start orientation for my new job in DC tomorrow, call Spano and let’s scheme!
