I was thinking about drew comment on how he’s going to work with Elway and Payton and what that would do for him and how that would look. I can now imagine Elway play style and Payton’s mind where Drew starts making check downs at the line. If this happen drew could become the next bronco QB to go to the hall of fame! Thoughts? Also could you see manning buying the team?

Zac, Peyton freakin Manning is the greatest QB all time. Watch your tongue! lol.

(Think is Bill Russell the greatest basketball player all time? no.. same for Brady, id take Prime Manning every day, all day and twice on Sunday.)

Living in New England, I always argue to my in-laws that Tom Brady isn’t even the most dominant Boston athlete of all time. Because Bill Russell.

I have a lot of respect for Brady, but i hate the “ring” argument. If you honeslty look me in the eyes and tell me Lebron is hands down not the greatest basketball player all time because of a couple of rings, ill walk away. I do understand Brady has the stats and wins, but i honestly think the thing between Mannings ears is what separates him from the rest of the group.

Guys, please. I almost wanted to unsubscribe after the Winston over Brady comment. I’m not a Brady fan (mostly because he is a patriot) but really? You would rather take the guy that throws the most intercepts, that can’t even make the playoffs over #12. First Mase now RK. I’m loosing faith quickly men. Please talk some sense into them Zac.

Now that Tua has declared for the draft, how concerned should we be that he goes to the Chargers? Tua and Mahomes in the same division. Hopefully Miami grabs him before the Chargers get a chance.

Can we please stop using the term “guys off the street?” These so-called players are people who’ve by and large dedicated their whole lives to playing football, often getting cut and recut yet keeping the faith and keeping a will to strive for their goal.

I know it’s just a phrase but it really belittles the incredible work and dedication it takes to make it at the highest level. I’ve known lots of these “guys off the street,” trying to make the NFL from our FCS teams out here in the Big Sky Conference and believe you me they are not just hanging out on the street.

Let’s work on a new phrase that pays homage to the struggle and the hope.

You guys are wordsmiths and punsters, let’s come up with one, ok?

Hey guys sorry about the long post but just figured I’d give my take on the combat sports brain damage thing, the reason that the brain trauma isn’t brought up as much in MMA/boxing is because the total damage taken in a career generally isn’t as much as in football. In combat sports your goal is to knock the person out but it is very rare you get knocked out cold since the force generated from a punch or even a kick isn’t anything compared to a 250 lb man running into you at 20mph, plus most fighters only fight 1 to 4 times spread across the year and in football it’s 21+ weeks once a week. The other factor to consider is kids commonly play football starting at a young ages, but most fighters don’t fight til they are 18. Obviously there are long term brain problems associated with combat sports which is why I stopped fighting, but overall boxing and MMA(which is safer than boxing because you don’t get an 8 count to regain consciousness after being KOd) have been shown to cause a lower percentage of long-term brain injuries. Just figured I’d chime in since I know both football and combat sports well, keep up the great work RK, Zac, and Mase, love having RK on the pod and can’t wait for you to be done with your project and be back fully!

Adding a WR 15 makes Sutton the “#2”? Ummmmm I’ll take that every Sunday, Monday and to Taco Tuesday.

Can you imagine what he would be doing to CB2s? He’d be imprisoned for it.

In reality, you wouldn’t have a 1 or 2, you’d throw to the guy who gets the best look on the play, and gets the mismatch.

Hey Big Zach, RK, and Mase, Spencer here again, I think I’m going a bit long here today but hopefully shorter than last weeks comment! To start, I just want to loop back to last week and say Zach, I totally understand that if fans pound the table and make noise, that it would have 0 influence on what Elway and his scouts goes out and do in the draft. I just wanted to know if the noise makes it back to him, and he hears the noise. I just want to know if he hears the noise because I know he himself would never acknowledge the noise. Mase, I’d like to know if you are GM of the Denver Broncos, and it’s Draft Night 2020, and Jeudy, Ruggs, Lamb, and Higgins are all off the board by pick 15. Would you personally take Laviska there? Also assume none of the linemen we want are around either. And while listening to this Tom Brady conversation podcast while walking the dog, I finally came to grips with why I’m becoming a bigger and bigger Laviska fan, and it’s because I personally can’t bear to see him play on a different National Football League team. I really want to see him mesh with Sutton, Fant, Lock, Lindsay, and Hamilton. You could insert Ruggs’ name here instead of Laviska’s and I’m totally cool with it too, because I’m starting to understand that Laviska and Ruggs bring different strengths, but personally I don’t see one as better than the other, I just see them as different. And I’d also like to throw out that . I’d also like to concur with your observations yesterday and say that if Tom Brady does indeed leave New England, he feels like a guy that would head to LA for the lifestyle, the money, and the fact that he’d become the most popular person in LA for at least 1 year. Really briefly, who are some potential backup QBs you could see for the Broncos in the 2020 season? Final question, can I be so bold and ask if the name Marcus Mariota would appeal to you behind Lock? I’d like to wrap up here by shouting out Mountain Drew and thanking him for his service and for his long nights as a Colorado Highway Patrolman, and I’d also like to shout out the Danimal because I myself used to live in Singapore, from mid 2009 until late 2012. And yes Mase, Zach, and also RK if you’re interested, I’d be more than happy to be your tour guide around Changi International Airport, Singapore’s airport. They have likely added more since I left 7 years ago, but I believe they have a water park, they for sure have a giant pool, a huge atrium, a movie theater, a Duty Free, a number of places to try local Southeast Asian cuisines, I could go on and on but I think you guys get the idea. I’m super excited to continue to roll with you guys as always, really excited to read & listen to all of your work and to see what kind of work Elway does in preparation for this draft. Last thing and I swear you guys can move on, there is an appetite for you guys to do a mock draft, as much as we love Andre and Henry. If you 3 do a mock draft, I’d just like to suggest you go to 15, all of you make 5 picks each, it’s really easy and it’s really clean, and you guys don’t have to research every 1st round prospect. If you guys go the distance, I can tell you right now I will listen to the entire 3 1/2 podcast, I promise. I am sorry for running longer than I thought I would but I love interacting with you guys and the DNVR community because everyone at DNVR is a bunch of rockstars for going above and beyond and doing awesome work. Thanks guys, love y’all, Go Broncos.

Mase has obviously gone to the to the Green Solution too many times recently if he would rather have Jameis over Brady. That is nuts! You cant keep saying stuff like that, people will start worrying about you. The league is really changing. Can you believe Brady, Brees, Manning, Rivers (probably) and Flacco all FAs this year? Wow, times are changing. Where do you think these guys will end up?

At what point are you considering trading up for Jeudy? Let’s say theoretically Ceedee goes first. For me its pick 5. I’m putting together something at 6 to get him. And if Jeudy goes first at what point would you trade up for Ceedee? For me its 10, especially like I said Jeudy is gone, not worth sweating those next 5 picks!

1) RK- you mentioned that the team needs a veteran presence in the WR room- preferably at slot receiver? I’ve been pounding the table for Randall Cobb for a minute now and he fits that description to a T! He’s a free agent this offseason but with Mike McCarthy being hired there, there’s a chance that he re-ups in Dallas. Unless he and McCarthy had a bad relationship, then it could have the opposite effect lol. I wouldn’t hate if they double down on UK receivers and draft Lynn Bowden in the third to be our version of Taysom Hill ?

2) Just re-reading that free agent list that Mike Klis put out the other day, and there’s some interesting stuff on there. We know how…..’connected’ Klis is to the team, so we should rightfully put some stock into this.

-I was surprised that McGovern was so far down the list, until something Cecil Lammey said yesterday. Cecil hinted that someone on the coaching staff- presumably Mike Munchak- is very high on Patrick Morris and the Broncos are fine with letting McGovern walk. Klis mentioned something similar in the article. He said the decision on McGovern depends on how they feel about Morris/Schlottman, and if what Cecil says is accurate, then I’m leaning towards McGovern not being on the team next year- unless the market isn’t what it’s expected to be.

3) Mr B

4) Mase, you mentioned Sammy Watkins yesterday.

The other day I suggested picking him up when the Chiefs cut him (and I’m almost positive that they will) and I still stand by that. The reason his stats have been disappointing with the Rams and the Chiefs is because he was the 5th option in LA and the 4th in KC. I think the point is that it’s a ‘pick your poison’ kinda deal. Sammy Watkins can theoretically beat you if you dedicate too much attention to stopping Kelce or Hill.

I don’t expect him to sign another $16m/year multi-year deal with his next contract. I think he’s a prime candidate for a 1-year prove it deal. He’ll be 27 next year, and a 1 year deal can line him up for one big pay day for his final contract- similar to Alshon Jeffrey in 2017. One year prove it deals are becoming more common among receivers lately. Devin Funchess did it in 2019, so did Breshad Perrriman- and he’s earned his way into a significant payday next year- so it’s a realistic option. Also, because he’s getting cut in this scenario, the Broncos can sign him to a deal without affecting their comp pick formula.

Plus instead of spending a pick on Laviska, why not just sign the guy he gets compared to the most, in FA 😉

I want nothing to do with Brady unless he’s going to bring us 6 rings in 5 years and retire in Denver as a Bronco for life like Peyton.
In the search for a ‘burner’ receiver, what’s to stop Phillip Lindsay from sometimes playing that role? He’s the same size as Tyreek Hill and also blazing fast.

Hey guys!
I know we’ve had a lot of conversations about the Broncos uniforms. While I don’t at all mind there current ones they wear I am more than open to a redesign. One thing I really like from some other teams around the league is jerseys with the team logo on the sleeves (like the saints, eagles, Pat’s, etc). Do you guys like this look as well? Would you like to see it incorporated in a future uniform in Denver? I’ve been saving this question for the offseason and would love tti hear your take. Thanks for all the great work. #DrewLockIsTheGuy

Hey fellas, love the show.

Listening to the pod and talk about John being interested in some of these veteran qbs. My reaction can be summed up in this one gif especially at the thought of Brady coming here.

https://giphy.com/gifs/the-office-no-steve-carell-12XMGIWtrHBl5e

I think a veteran backup is an absolutely good option and would help Drew and the team a lot. At this point, I think the complete goal should be to surround your starting qb (Drew) with great talent and focus on developing him. Anything else seems like a waste of time and could cause problems with more inconsistency at QB.

Love the show keep up the great work!

Morning fellas!
Few thoughts:
1. Did waiting to sign Simmons hurt the Broncos after Eddie jackson deal?
2. I too was also wondering about going after some chiefs FA. Chris Jones, maybe a corner and maybe even Watkins on a short prove it deal to be WR3. The Chiefs have to be planning ahead for Mahomes contract
3. Any updates on Bausby’s recovery. Any worries about him being able to bounce back mentally after suffering a scary injury?
4. If Ruggs is their target do they have to move up to get him? I would sure hate for the raiders to grab him! Nightmare scenario! Chiefs with Hill, Raiders with Ruggs.
5. Do you see Elway making some big splashes in FA or more low key solid signs?
6. What if receivers and tackles are gone by 15. Do they look at Kinlaw there?
7. Do you consider Laviska a luxury pick given his medical history? Don’t think the Broncos are in a position to take a player with question marks in the 1st rd. But man I would sure hate to have to go against him. Would Scangs be the right coach to pair him with? I imagine him with the Saints and Niners and their creative play designs! Scary!!!

Later all!!

Sorry in advance if this gets to be too long, but I heard something I really disagree with not sure if it was your guys take or fans but seeing that courtland would have to eventually be the number 2 wide out if you drafted a first round guy, but Mike Thomas got drafted round two and I garuntee nobody the saints draft at wide out are expected to overtake his spot so it’s not like draft position establishes depth chart position. Also I have heard a lot of people lately say AJ jonhson was a character issue player, which is frankly unfair to the man. He was cleared of all charges and was truly done wrong so for the narrative to continue to float around that he is a questionable guy when he has done nothing but work hard to get back to where he was. Love the pod and family keep it up boys!

Hi guys! I was at the raiders and broncos game and all I got to say is, raiders fans really suck. Was sitting at the south stands and some raiders couple were sitting next to me and they just went at it saying, “f the donkeys”, “broncos are poverty”, “f this, f that” and old lady in front of me told them to stop being disrespectful and to watch their mouth. Luckily I moved to a better spot at the 50 yard line at half time. I just thought I’d share that to say that raiders fans suck!
Anyway now that Henry Ruggs has declared I’m really worried the raiders are gonna take him or the eagles trade up, and maybe even the colts. If we want him we have to trade up and I’m willing to that.

Sorry for the extra comments, but love ya’ll!

Mase you said it irked you when Denver let Pac-man wear 24, well i stand right there with you. I know its hard to retire all the numbers, and i get if a guy like Champ gave the okay to Pac-man, but the organization should look at it and see that Pac had no business wearing that number. The only guy on this team who deserves to wear 24, is our very own CHJ, and he solidified his spot in Bronco history with #25 sooo…

Hey … the last two years Elway has made moves for Case Keenum and Joe Flacco that seemed doomed from the start. What moves would be doomed from the start that you hope the Broncos don’t make this year, but Elway might do anyway? Also, the Singapore slide should be called Super Happy Fun Slide. Because obviously Mase.

Hello again, Gentlemen

I wanted to start off my comment with a little bit of trivia. You’ll probably know the answer but I want to ask anyway.

I mentioned in my last comment that I am a high school English teacher in Nebraska. I’m currently at a different high school this year but I spent the last couple of years teaching at Omaha South High School. Do you know which current Broncos player attended Omaha South High School?

Also, what are your thoughts on picking up Marcus Mariotta as a possible backup QB for next year? Might be a “cheap”ish veteran option that’s not a statue in the pocket.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks again for everything you do.

Guys,

Heard an interesting chat today claiming that the broncos D line is going to be in trouble this year, and I have to say I disagree. I think we can rest easy in Wolfe coming back, I wish Shelby would do the same but feel his performance earned him some riches and good on him for that, well earned. Jones and Walker are a couple of rising stars with pass rush prowess, and a run defending D End is not hard to find in the later rounds of the draft. I think with a pocket collapsing Nose Tackle that can scare QBs Next year we have a lot to look forward to in our defensive front. Have you guys heard anything about Fangio’s thoughts on his line’s overall potential and plan going forward?

Also quick idea, can we make it a rule that anyone who misspells Peyton’s name with an “A”, forgets to list 3 for Mr B, or 7 for Elway in their comments owes the first round if they attend a watch party?! I’m all about free beer on someone else’s tab.

Stay awesome guys,
Danimal
