A toast to all the DNVR family for our first W of the season!

This game really highlighted something for me and that’s for all the hate Elway gets for drafting, he has had solid 2016, 2018 and 2019 classes. Outside of Lynch and Dixon, everyone from the 2016 class has really thrived, yes even Booker who will easily have another job very soon after his life in mile high. Simmons and Parks need to be resigned by the end of this sentence. Simmons is my personal pick for DMVP for the Broncos.

Last but not least, big ups to Bausby. Glad to hear he was able to travel home with the team!

Hey guys — finally, a win!!!

Question: was what we saw today from Alexander Johnson unexpected? Obviously haven’t had a chance to go back & watch the all-22. But just from the broadcast, he looked like a huge upgrade over what we’ve been seeing at ILB. I can’t imagine Jewell, Nelson, or Davis getting out to make that tackle on Eckler at the end of the first half, for example.

Here’s hoping we finally have a thumper with some instincts at ILB (last one of those, of course, was another UT Volunteer…)

I know it was only one game but give me Alexander Johnson all day every day. That tackle on Eckler prevented points before halftime. The pick in the end zone and almost a pick to seal the game in the fourth. Loved seeing it.

So a couple things
1) fun thought exercise, do you think a youth movement in GM positions is possible any time soon and would be a good thing for the game? especially with the beginning of a youth movement in the coaching ranks I believe that it would make new younger coaches more effective and believed in not having an age and philosophy gap between the front office and the coaches.
2) My biggest issue with the rules the NFL is two fold. First they are giving defenders a foot sized window to hit insanely fast and agile moving targets as well as in the case of roughing the QB rules they are asking them to defy physics a lot of the times and do something that could hurt themselves to avoid potentially hurting a QB. The second part is the double standard they have with the rules, now Burfict is a trash person and is a dirty player, but for example Doyle along with so many receivers and running backs equally lower their head to initiate contact with defenders all the time but only the defensive players get called on it. Steelers safety Mike Mitchell has a great interview last year on the subject. As a wise man aka me once said, when you have part time refs you get full time idiots. Last thing is Kareem is a beast and showed why heart and hustle is everything, that goal line forced fumble was a all heart play, and ummm isn’t Theo Riddick supposed to be on IR not playing CB?? Lol

Hey fellas, I’ve been waiting to comment for a few weeks, despite all the tanking talk and firing elway, Vic is a terrible coach blah blah blah. I agree past 4 weeks have been rough on every fan but for the real fans and I mean real like the Damn good supporters of this pod, we all hung in there silently waiting for this game. Because we all knew it would be the youth to carry this team guided by the veteran presence. Vic has done an amazing job adjusting on the fly, he is moving the chess pieces where he needs them to hit the almighty checkmate! We might not win the super bowl this year but I haven’t seen a 12-4 team miss this playoffs yet! I’m keeping it optimistic until I can’t no more. Can you guys argue the fact that Vic is critiquing the team in subtle ways to for the better? So happy for the win and much needed sigh of relief to get the monkey off our back! Love you guys! You fuzzy little man peaches.

We beat the San Diego Chargers!! (I’ll always call them that because I don’t respect them). Good tough road win with more to work on. I am excited about the new pieces Vic put in and hope they continue with what is working.

Looking at our past opponents, is the Raiders loss so bad now? Also, did the Colts layout a blueprint for the rest of the league for the almighty Chiefs?

I still feel this is a lost season with hopes of Lock getting tons of reps to see. But I really feel we are finding the right pieces and finding the rest. But who goes?

Funny question, if you could be a balloon, what would you be?

Hot air?
Water?
Punching?
Regular?
Helium?

I am against AJ Johnson playing any more snaps in football.

He will kill someone. Not figuratively, literally. He will literally kill someone. He’s outside the normal range for a human, and now must only be described as Predator.

Super impressive to watch him. Enormous human, flying across the field. That TD saving tackle was exceptional.

Take a screen shot of this post – he will end someone.

P.S tailgate details for Titans and Chiefs games ASAP…..and any pre AV game recommendations?

Yo, props to the Orange N Blue for saving my sports weekend! After the Buffs lost to Arizona AGAIN, I was sure I’d only be able to stand the first quarter of the Broncos game before I withdrew for good. But they came out and played hungry and held on for the win.

Just one problem…I don’t know how to feel now. Do it again? Don’t do it too much? Shock the record book? I’m all over the place..

We did it!!! Yiadom is still a liability, but I don’t want to give up just yet on him, I didn’t give up on Bolles; and he’s done well 2 or 3 weeks in a row. (Atta boy gumballs). I’ve noticed improvement’s every week from the team. Am I overthinking the benching of Gotsis? I still prefer to let my fruity pebbles and cocoa pebbles soak. #soggycereal

Hey boys :
1. ALWAYS great to beat Phillis & the Super Chargers.
2. Apples grow in orchards.
3. Mr. B.
4. Five games, five flat 3rd. quarters, a recipe for failure along with scoring three 2nd. half points.
5. Sinkers are good, I kinda prefer Stinkers.
6. For 2019, there is only one way to guarantee a spot in the AFC Top 6, 11 more wins in a row. In the first 99 years, no team has ever missed the playoffs with 12 wins!

1. Its an apple orchard
2. Shout out to Wadman for having consistently good punts and we would have pinned them on the one yard line if it didnt ba-doink off of Browns helmet
3. I am glad I wasn’t the only one yelling at the chargers to call a timeout and getting angry when they mozy up and spike the ball. Had to remind myself which team I was rooting for.
4. Glad Bausby is going to be okay, but holy Andrew Mason Yiadom is not good.
5. I wish we could have more games commentated by Romo and Nantz they were fun to listen too
6. Did you guys do any superstitions differently this game than the other games? If so, keep it up

Guys, come on, it’s an apple ORCHARD. Where is Mase when we need him?
If I remember correctly, Chris was available during the draft, but no one was willing to give the Broncos a third for him, so they held on to him. Do you really think they could get a second for him now, especially when he’s under contract only for a few more months?

Hey guys, I’m officially sold on Alexander Johnson!! I know Ryan talks about it but there are those guys who you see out there and they just look like ballers, and Alexander Johnson fits that perfectly. The dude looked huge out there but clearly isn’t just a run stopper, I think he is going to be a monster as long as this team continues to give him a shot. I have mixed emotions about this win because this was a VERY beat up Chargers team and it will take us pulling out the win against the Chiefs for me to be sold on this season, but it just feels nice to finally get a win. I’m scared we are heading for 6 to 8 wins missing out on a top draft pick and the playoffs but I will be okay with that if our young players continue to ball, especially if Lock impresses. Keep up the great work gents, this season finally has some light shining through and regardless what happens it should be a fun ride going forward. Thank you to everyone at DNVR for being the best coverage in sports!

Well well well what do we have here, a big W in Hollywood. Cant state enough how much win will do for the mental health of the locker room. 0-5 would have been rough especially with media rightfully piling on.
Even with the win, how concerned are we that we still cant score 3 TDs in game on a regular basis? A win is a win but as you guys mentioned on the pod, the formula is barely functional. Saggs needs to that back to the workshop ASAP or we’re all gonna be sinking in the background of the Lifeboat Boys shirt
PS, imma gonna need that shirt

Gents,

This win, while perfectly Cromulent is but a gratuitous bandaid on wound that requires a tourniquet. The bleeding slows for a week but our dressings will soon again be soaked with the sanguinity of orange and blue plasma.

I do not take for granted a W, but alas we need a major transfusion.

I’ve fallen victim to fool’s gold before (the Jospeh era)
But I won’t be caught starry -eyed falling in love with this chimera of a victory.

The Broncos need a rebrand and we all know what that means and who that Indicts.

Here’s to the floaters!

I really did forget what a win on Sunday felt like! What makes the win even more sweet is that I believe that caused Phillip my least favorite player ever Rivers a career losing record against the broncos! 13-14, hope we make it 13-15. I’m happy that we proved we’re not perineal losers. Did anyone see how joe reacted on the big courtland TD? I just have a conspiracy theory going with my friend that joe truly doesn’t want to win this season. He very possibly just wants a season where he can make his money, not really break a sweat and ride off into the sunset of mediocrity.

Broncos win and the Chiefs lose on the same day? Doesn’t get any better than that lol. Kinda spooky that Matt Patricia has laid the template to shutting down high powered offenses for two years in a row. Who would’ve thought?

Gotta give credit to Vic for shuffling the personnel. I know some people will criticize him for not making the switch to Purcell and Johnson earlier, but better late than never, right? At least we’re getting a look at players that might have a future on the team beyond this year, and they happen to be playing well. Win-win scenario.

I was on board for retaining Gotsis as a depth piece beyond this year, but does his benching signal that he’s not in the team’s plans moving forward? I know Vic was pretty vague about it and said that next week could be different, but the writings gotta be on the wall, right? And I can’t imagine Gotsis feels too happy about being made inactive in a contract year.

Finally a win. Nice to be able to stay up till 4am with a smile on my face then a scorn of “what the f**k just happened”. Do you guys think that John Elways negative bias towards players from Alabama might have to change? I know it’s been reported that he feels their players go through a tougher time physically then players from other colleges but after the signing of Kareem Jackson (whos is SUCH a stud), who played extensively at Alabama, and has many years of NFL play under his belt has apparently been such a success so far, surely he needs to reconsider this outlook?! I mean it seems ridiculous to me that you’d automatically blacklist players from Alabama, when they obviously recruit and develop such incredible talent to be studs at the NFL level. And they win, all the time, like ALL THE TIME! Aren’t these the type of players we need!

I believe I missed the deadline when I posted this on the last pod, so thought I would copy and paste it over…

Hey y’all, absolutely love the podcast. Been a subscriber since the start of the season, but this is my first time commenting. Figured I’d have to given the shout out to OC California… I spent the majority of my life in San Clemente before joining the army and moving all around the country. Now a military intelligence officer stationed in Ft. Huachuca, AZ, I unfortunately will not make the game in LA (though I did attend last year and was part of the salute to service ceremony during half-time). Thankfully, I’ll get to return to beautiful CO in week 17 to celebrate Drewcember from section 128.

Also since it is Breck Brew Friday, I feel inclined to share a quick story… Being in a small military town, I do not have immediate access to Breck beer. However, my girlfriend (who is 3 hours north of me finishing up grad school) surprised me by showing up to my house for the weekend and bringing along several 6-packs of the highly recommended strawberry sky! I gotta say.. what a damn good beer! And though we took an L against the Packers, it still turned out to be a damn good weekend. Sorry for the long comment, but thanks again for the awesome podcast!

Hey guys happy VICTORY MONDAY! Gotta say it was really cool to see John come in and give Vic a game ball and how genuinely happy Vic got, even cooler to see him give the game ball to AJ Johnson he deserves it he’s been through so much to get to this point in his career it was awesome to see him ball out like I predicted since we signed him a couple years back. They should start him till he gives them a reason not to

It’s about damn time! As great as it feels to finally get that elusive first win, I can’t help but have mixed feelings going forward. This team is in desperate need of a rebuild, but they seem to look like they’re putting things together. And with the upcoming schedule being filled with winnable games, even the chiefs looked very beatable last night even despite the refs blatantly trying to screw the Colts out of a win, I am starting to see 5-11, 6-10 or even the dreaded 8-8 as a likely possibility. Obviously I want my team to do well, but I can’t help but feel that a 2-4 win season might be whats best for the team long term. Nonetheless, I am happy about the win and it’s finally good to see some positivity back in Broncos Country.

Thanks guys!

P.S. RK, Arizona owns CU. Im sorry thats a low blow, but Im just so damn excited about my team right now.

Much love.

Denver has figured out the formula…

A healthy Jano wins games!

For real tho, this game wasnt without its hiccups. A win is a win!

Gumballs has played well the last 3 games, knock on wood.

Id like to see more of AJ Johnson or Alexander..however he is going by. He laid the wood a couple times and maybe it was just bad passing on Rivers part, but an INT and another dropped INT from the guy really leaves me wanting to see him play more!

Hope all is well with Baus, that hit left a pit in my stomach and i think Jim Nantz said what we should have all been thinking when we were told he had movement in his arms and legs, “Thank heavens”.

Ryan as for when to take your foot off the petal.. Never, drop 90 if you can. There was a coach who asked about running up the score and he said something along the lines of “Its my job to score, its not my job to help the other team stop us. If you dont want us to score, then stop us.” I know thats a little off, but i think it was Parcells? Mase a little help.

Also, Just get Phil the damn ball… I honestly believe we win games when 30 gets his hand in the pot more often than not.

RD (DOLLY-WALL)

Congratulation to all of DNVR Country for the win! Just wanted to give props to #22 Kareem Jackson. The guy is a baller. Does he stay on the boat (is he a floater or a sinker)?

Keep up the good work!!!

October 7, 2019

Hey Guys!

While I’m happy to finally have a W in the books, I’m beginning to have a growing concern that if we continue to stack up wins, the front office will turn a blind eye to the lingering issues around the team.

My biggest fear is that going about .500 for the rest of the season is going to validate the idea that this team is “close” and we’ll end up in a situation where we’re going into the offseason picking in the 10 – 15 range, have no idea what we have in Drew Lock, and the FO maintains the notion that we’re just a couple of band aid players away from being a contender again.

I want the Broncos to win just as much as any other fan, but I’m growing nervous that a little bit of success in the short run is going to set us back in the big picture. For the long term, are we better off being terrible this season than being a little below average?

October 7, 2019

One more question. There’s been some talk about the Broncos “formula” being a bad one, and with the results of the past couple of seasons, I’m inclined to agree. With that said, if what we’re doing right now isn’t the right formula to take us to the promise land, do you think that Vic Fangio is still the best guy to take us where we need to go?

And PS Zac, don’t let the laugh haters get you down. Misery loves company and that’s especially the case on the internet. Keep living, loving, and laughing, my guy!

Quick question since I’m sure everything else will have already been covered.

IF the Broncos do beat the Chiefs to get to 3-4, would you still consider it the quality win we all assumed it could be at the beginning of the year? They looked very beatable last night and while it would be a huge win, the Colts and Texans (and even Raiders??) look like they could be tougher than we thought

Broncos Win, Chiefs Lose…. Probably wont be a lot of Sundays like that one so Soak it in!

After watching the Colts absolutely pound the Chiefs with the run game it got me wondering… Are the Broncos good enough in the run game with Jano back to duplicate that game plan? Your thoughts?

Also I would like a some commission for the new shirt “Run Phil Run.” Can’t Wait to place an order!

My Dudes!

all I have been hearing the last 2 weeks on Broncos twitter is “if VJ was the coach and he went 0-4 the fans would be losing their mind” well Vic isn’t Vance and it is very clear why we (BroncosCountry) should be more patient with Vic and let him leave his mark. Do you fellas remember when Vance promised us all that lineup changes will happen midway last year during our losing streak? and it only turned out that he swapped out McGovern with Garcia? LOL

Well Vic didn’t need to make any promises, he didn’t need to tell the media anything, he just made a change because he was not happy with the output of the DL and ILBs. This is the kind of coach that we need, I mean the two line up changes for us made a HUGE impact on the game.

Vic keep this up, we are riding with you.

PS… AJ had the best ILB game i have seen for us since Woodyard

Guys this is what I was waiting for the game where everything click the way the staff wanted! Finally the defense is doing Vic Fangio things the offense is getting the ball to its play makers the offensive line isn’t holding. My question is with Jay Gruden being fired doesn’t that make Trent Williams price go down? If so would it be worth it to look at him and maybe trade? Or at this point is it better to just let things play out and work on that next offseason. I think the offense is trending the right way and hopefully Drew works out and the offense is only a few players away from being above average. Also you guys talk about how the formula isn’t right anymore what do you think if our new formula is focus on offensive play makers like Phil and Fant and get Defensive guys late with people like A.J. Johnson balling out and being a late pick up maybe Vic can find his guys late and get offensive help early.
