There is news out there that Eric Bienemy is not going to be added to a team as a HC this cycle. If Paton wanted to pursue Deshaun Watson and part of that would be angling to get Bienemy on the staff, would it be possible to offer Bienemy an “Assistant HC” position as a vertical move? Fangio would have to let Shurmur go, but if that worked out and he got Watson he may even be OK with it. I’m not sure what the league requirements are for hiring coaches from other staffs and what designates a vertical move to make it happen.

Just imagining a world with Deshaun Watson at QB and Eric Bienemy calling plays for this young core of skill players.

In your opinions, what are the betting odds when it comes to Drew Lock being the starter in Denver next year?

For months I’ve lived in fear. Everything I had known about life was up in the air, and I was afraid what life was going to be like if I gave in to a new, radical way of thinking.

Last night, I conquered my fears. I did the unthinkable and my life will never be the same. I cooked salmon in the dishwasher. It was moist, bold and slightly tasted like it bathed in a pool of dirty water. Delectable. Shoutout to RK for opening my eyes to this bold new culinary world.

Anything else important happen yesterday?

hey guys!

thought i’d share a few things on paton i picked up while doing my homework this past week- tell me what y’all think!

1) we all know about him declining interviews and jobs over the years, but something about this job was different, even with the murky qb and ownership situations. was reported a couple of times that this was his ‘dream job’ and if he didn’t take this job, he would’ve been content being an assistant general manager for the rest of his career.

2) he’s close with northwestern coach pat fitzgerald and the two share an agent. if paton tok the lions job, there was a chance that he could’ve brought fitzgerald with him. that same pairing could’ve been in play if the bears fired nagy and pace, too. fitzgerald has declined nfl opportunities so far, but makes you wonder if he could be in play for the broncos next year if things go sideways with vic. also has a strong relationship with eric bienemy and bienemy and paton worked together to try and land ladainian tomlinson in 2010

3) mr b

4) he turned down the chiefs in 2017. now, they’re not losing any sleep over it and they’re doing more than fine with brett veach at GM but we can add george paton to the list of people who turned them down, along with emmanuel sanders

Sounds like a great hire at Dove Valley. Keen to see how another Paton goes. Last one gave us another trophy even though it is spelled differently.

Tonight’s season opener between the Avs and my Blues has me thinking about the rules of fandom. I don’t know of any official rule book, but we all have our unwritten rules. True fans v. Fairweather fans. Here’s my list of rules….. Debate amongst yourselves.

1. Whatever team you chose when exposed to the sport for the first time is yours forever, with the only exception being if you pick a team that is a mess every year and you didn’t know, you can change once, but can’t flick back to the original team.
2. If you cheer for teams the Yankees, Patriots, Lakers and Canadians at the same time and other the other hugely successful teams and have never lived in any of those cities, you are a bandwagoner.
3. Those raised in states/countries without NFL can pick any team, but they have to stick with the team.
4. You are not a bandwagoner if you are a fan of all teams in one city, even if a couple of them are in the group of successful teams.
5. It’s okay to have another team in the other conference you like, but you can’t claim championships if they win, but you can be happy for them.

Any other rules you guys have to determine if you are a true fan or a bandwagon fan are fully appreciated here.

FYI, when I came to the US as a young bloke, I lived in St. Louis first, then Colorado and so my fandom is rooted there. What were your paths to being the fans of the teams you know follow?

Not sure which pod to comment on so did both:

So I definitely need to reprogram my mind. I have been looking at mock drafts and I saw one this morning that had Denver taking Patrick Surtain II in the first round and Dylan Moses in the second. My first thought was this guy is clueless there is no way Elway, who never takes Alabama players, takes two! Then I realized Elway isnt making the decisions and got pretty damn excited if that’s what actually happens. Heard comparisons for Surtain II to Minkah Fitzpatrick. Imagine Vic having that type of chess piece..

I also wanna say thank you to the DNVR Family. You guys go above and beyond and a special thank you to RK. My girlfriend out did herself this year for my birthday. I work in a Assisted Living facility and due to that I havent seen friends or family all year to reduce exposure risk, which has resulted in some serious isolation and low-mental health. Knowing this my girlfriend reached out to all of my people and asked them to send a video to her that reminds me of the love and support I have. This alone was incredibly powerful to watch, but half way through who do I see?? The one and only Ryan Koenigsberg!! Definitely a gift I will remember forever and it goes to show how this is not just a job or a fan base of a podcast show, but truly a family. Sorry for the long comment and my poor grammar, but it’s the offseason right??

Let’s go baby!

I’m pumped for George Paton. I’m actually in contact with the director of player development for the Vikings as i spent time with him when serving as a missionary for my church. He had nothing but praise for Paton and believes he’s been ready for this opportunity for a while. Excited for this new chapter in Broncos history!

Fellas,

With Paton having worked with Nick Saban for a couple of years in Miami it would seem to me that the chances of Denver drafting Mac Jones have gone up a bit.

How say you?
