This doesn’t really matter but it’s the offseason so who cares! When Denver got shut out by the Chargers, there was a play where Sieman threw a pass to DT who took it for what would have been like 80 yards but they called it back for OPI. Some people said it was a questionable call and I’d like to get your thoughts on that because it would have put him over 1k yards if it wasn’t OPI. Thanks!

Storytime: DENVER, A city with fanatic sports fans, and a history of winning championships. After seasons of mediocrity, a Colorado sports icon comes in to right the ship as GM and bring the team back to relevance. A few years of learning on the job, and it comes time to appoint a new coach – as the last coach (a sports legend in their own right) resigns their position. That sports icon goes to a rookie head coach with lots of promise. That promise is elevated further after the team finishes preseason undefeated and hopes skyrocket. That season starts hot with two wins to open the season and a 3-1 record after the first four games. That season ends in misery featuring all the lows you can think of – longest win streak of two games, losing at least 8 straight games, locker room dysfunction, multiple losing streaks, calls for the new coach to be fired, etc. Come draft time, and that team has a top 5 overall pick that they use on a defensive player with tons of upside.
I of course am talking about the Colorado Avalanche from two seasons ago. Having lived through that misery, only for the Broncos to follow suit in 2017 was heartbreaking. Given how similar and intertwined these two franchises are, it’s only fair to assume we can expect a similar Broncos resurgence as we experienced with the Avs this past season. As Avalanche player Nathan Mackinnon goes on stage in Vegas to accept his award as league MVP Wednesday night, I have to ask, will it be Case Keenum or Von Miller winning NFL MVP this upcoming year? Also, it’s confirmed that the Broncos are making the playoffs this year as is foretold by the Avalanche. You can take that to the bank.

I have been thinking the exact same thing all offseason. Definitely think Von for MVP is more likely than Case.
JustForbis
Von Miller did become an Avs fan during the playoff run in April. Perhaps he will be justly rewarded with an MVP honor.
Scenario Time
Is it more likely for Carlos Henderson to make this team, or Isaiah Mackenzie to make this team?
Is it more likely Case Keenum throws for 27 TD’s or Von Miller Records 20 Sacks?
Is it more likely for Devontae Booker is our leading rusher at the end of the year, OR Royce Freeman
Is it more likely for Jared Veldheer to play all 16 games, or Derek Wolfe to play all 16?
Last one, Is it more likely Bradley Chub leads the team in sacks, Or Phillip Lindsay leads the team in all Purpose yards?
Time to go to work!
Thanks, Levi From Iowa

Writing this prior to listening to the pod but here’s a question I have. I heard on ESPN yesterday analyst gave Denver 3 more wins that last year after the moves they made. What would have to happen for you to consider this season a success? Would you say making the playoffs crosses that line, winning the AFC West, or just winning more games than last year? Obviously with the winning culture Denver the media pushes the Super Bowl or bust narrative but that can’t be truly reasonable. Interested to hear your thoughts on what should be considered successful for the upcoming 2018 season. Thanks!

ssmyth31,
Just a heads up. The guys talked about this exact topic a podcast or two ago at some length. I am sure they will answer your question (because that is how they roll!), but you may get a more detailed question by listening to the previous podcast. I may be off on which day it was, but I am certain it was within the last week they talked about what a ‘successful’ season would be for 2018.
GO BRONCOS!!!

Appreciate it!!

We have all been starved of watching a successful and exciting offense so I’m hoping the Case Keenum over 27 TDs the most.
Spacebar
1) Carlos Henderson makes the team
2) Case Keenum 27 TD’s
3) Royce Freeman is leading rusher
4) Derek Wolfe plays all 16 games of course (but really, I think both will)
5) Hard one…..but I will go with Chubb is the ‘more likely’ scenario than Lindsey.

Do you think that with Chad Kelly looking a little underwhelming and playing more conservative that when the pads come on, he would be the more likely backup? For the last few years, we have said that Paxton has looked better during OTA’s, but then the second training camp starts he is still the same old Paxton.
Also, do you know if any other teams have rookie hazing like the Broncos? Are there any particularly funny ones?
Lookin to get my first broncos jersey and don’t want to get an obvious one, so who would you guys pick between simmonds, roby, or cravens? Also thank you Zac and Andre for answering my question about sports writing and talking about some of your personal experiences. Was really cool and inspired me to do anything I can, which I’ve already started….hope others enjoyed your response as well.

Why don’t the NFL let the full 53 drsss for games on Sunday? I feel this should have been changed years ago. Is there a reason hidden somewhere in this or could a change be on the cards? With the big push they are making on stopping serious life changing injuries to players in retirement would it make sense to have more players available for each game and share that loss?
Thanks
