This is a repeat of last year. I know you guys said it wouldn’t be. But it is. That tells me it’s the coaches. Please tell Elway is going to clean house and soon. I can’t take much more of this. This team was embarrassing on Sunday.
tdddavis30
We should blow this thing up.
Trade all vets with any value. Von, DT, even CHJ and start over. After firing this entire wretched staff, except maybe Musgrave and the ST guy.
Tank and pray for a decent QB to emerge from the NCAA.
Queen City Bronco
Musgrave has to go. As much as I like the guy, he’s the lone man in charge of deciding to pass 76% of plays when they had the 2nd best run game in the league. This of course coming one game after the KC fiasco where he did pretty much the same thing.

Montez?
I understand that you guys say there really isn’t anyone to replace VJ if he’s fired, but does that not terrify everyone else like it does me? It can’t be a good thing that there’s not a single coach on our staff we trust to take over the spot, right? Do you see that as it being as big of a problem as I do? Also, if VJ (and others) get fired after/during this year, is there anyone specific you guys are looking at it in the off-season to replace them?
Also, Pleasure Horse hits it on the head at the end of the podcast about the Broncos when they say, “It’s getting me down, waiting up for you”.
Sorry, last thing! After watching the Saints/Redskins game, I couldn’t help but wonder, what about that Taysom Hill guy? I know we haven’t seen much as a passer, but do you guys know much about him? Thanks for everything you do!

Hey guys, As were getting closer to a worse losing record next week with the undefeated Rams coming to town
Broncos DownUnder
Hey guys, As were were staring at a possible 2-4 record next week with the undefeated Rams coming to town. Who do you think management would consider more for the interim coach if Vance Joesph is fired? Do you think they could convince Gary Kubiak to coach for the rest of the season? Also I’m flying out from Brisbane, Australia for my first NFL game in Arizona for Broncos Vs Cardinals, I’d love to say hello and thank both you guys for producing the best Broncos podcast week in and week out bar none out if your not too busy before the game.
Broncos DownUnder
Just realised you guys already discussed the interim coach issue today. At what point does Chad Kelly Start to get reps with the first team? As VJ should send a message emphasising to Case that further regressive performance will get him punted off this team harder than Marquette King.

The thing that puzzles me the most is the obvious things to you guys that even a noob like me can spot do not seem to be noticed by PROFESSIONAL NFL COACHES?! For example, if your runners are averaging over 5 ypc then give it to them a hell of a lot more than 17 times!
I think the rookie class is excellent, in fact, I think they got all the yardage up to Sutton’s TD, and a great foundation to build from. I’d be interested in your opinion on my masterplan of skipping QB in 2019, maybe trading 1st round this year for 2020, picking up a RT in 2019 who will be the blindside protection for Tua Tagovailoa.
And obviously sack VJ, probably Joe Woods and maybe Bill Musgrave too at the end of this season. One season for new coaching staff in place; one year for Tua to get comfortable in the season; then Super Bowl champs in 2021!
Noreik
Oh, and schadenfreude is pronounced “shar-dan-froy-der” ☺️
Bronco Jimmy
Thank you, kind sir. I should have written it phonetically but I trusted our lyrical gangster,Ryan to get it right ?
Noreik
Agree, apart from drafting a QB this year (see my plan above!). We need to give our younger CBs a chance to sink or swim if we’re tanking (intentionally or not!) which could be done with CHJ on the team but Pacman needs to make way for Yiadom to play.

I’ll start with a disclaimer: I agreed with the decision to cut Aqib Talib. I agreed with the decision to cut Paxton Lynch. And I was completely on board with signing Case Keenum. But humor me for a second: what if we took the extra money we used to sign Keenum and instead invested in Aqib and stuck with a combination of, say, Chad Kelly, Paxton Lynch, and Matt Moore? Do you honestly think we’d be worse off than we are today? Our defense wouldn’t have gotten thrown on like it did against the Raiders, Ravens, and Jets. And I also have a hard time believing that our offense, which averaged less than 18 pts in our three losses, would have done any worse. I’m not sure I blame Elway for these decisions because I believe they were correct at the time. I guess I’m just longing to party like it’s 2015.
As a pick-me-up, talk to me about Su’a Cravens and Jordan Taylor. How do they look? They’re two of Denver’s highest performers this year! Jk, but seriously…
Defender_96
Hey guys – I recall a lot of Keenum being under pressure and making a poor passing decision this season and am wondering how much of the root cause if his decline from last year to this is attributable in some way to bad pass protection. Do you know how he fared under pressure last year vs this year?
Thbaks, Scott
Hey guys. Sorry for getting too positive about Keenum. I was just excited to see some TDs. I’m listening to the Monday pod and get a couple feelings about this team that I was hoping you’d address. 1) with the team bringing up last season trends, is this a sign of giving up entirely? 2) other than losing, do the Broncos need an identity of their own? They had a specific identity with Elway and TD, and Manning, the No Fly Zone, and Von Miller. Teams were tasked with figuring out how to beat them, and the broncos had a ton of success. Now it just seams like the Broncos have no particular identity and they spend every game figuring out how to beat their opponents. If you guys feel the same, what can they do to fix it?
Thanks and GO BRONCOS!

I discussed what Denver should do in detail with my brother after the game. We can’t fire Joseph because who are we going to bring in that is better? Musgrave doesn’t deserve to get moved up. Woods does not deserve to move up. So we are stuck back in the same place. QB decisions… well no one on the street is going to do better, eventually I think we should see what we got in Kelly. Thoughts as always gents.

I get what you guys were saying about Kyle Shanahan, but him and Vance are not the same and here’s why. First, you said it many times in this very podcast: the Broncos have an incredibly talented roster. And that’s why our lack of execution doesn’t make sense. When Kyle arrived in SF, he had one of the least talented roster’s in the NFL. Already this season, he lost his QB and highly paid FA RB for the season. You can’t blame a bad season on injury and get away with it in the NFL. But their current starting QB wasn’t talented enough to start, so they went out and got Jimmy. They made McKinnon one of the highest paid RBs in the league and ended up having to patchwork the backfield. Denver has the QB they wanted. They have a great backfield. They have a talented and healthy roster. If Denver and SF have found the same success in winning football games since the two new head coaches arrived, then one of two things has happened: 1) SF has outperformed expectations. Or 2) Denver has severely underperformed. I side with the latter.

So……according to Coach Joseph, “We’re not going to play how we played yesterday,” Joseph said. “We’re not going to do that. So something’s got to change. You don’t play that brand of football and keep it all the same. I won’t share what we’re going to change, but there’s going to be changes.” (DiLalla, Aric. “Next-Day Notebook: Vance Joseph Says There Are ‘Going to Be Changes’ after Loss to Jets.” Official Site of the Denver Broncos, 8 Oct. 2018) Thought I would cite my source…..
I REALLY want to belive the coaching staff is going to make a change, but after the entire regular season, we saw that the gameplan was not really working. To include our 2 wins. They have said things will change and yet….during the games, they fall back into bad habits. We know our running game moves the ball better than the passing game. Yet, play calls continuously move back to passing.
None of this is new as you two (and the BSN Broncos family) have commented on all of this in the last few weeks and it is sounding like a broken record.
But I still believe in this team. For just over 26 years, I have bled orange and blue. I know we have top tier players. I know that if the TEAM (and organization as a whole) can get out of this rut, the Broncos are a force to be taken seriously. However……As things are going down the proverbial toilet…..I will continue to hold my head high, Don my Broncos Jersey (Elway, Manning, Miller, Smith, Lynch, Welker, Bailey, McCaffrey, Davis, or whoever is next to get (probably Lindsay)!) and continue to cheer and support the Blue and Orange. I will go down with the ship, so when the team arises from the depths of this whirlpool crapper, I will be there waving the Broncos flag to show the world we (The Broncos) are back to ‘Thunder Stomp’ (throw in some mascot love) the competition.
That is all for now…..
GO BRONCOS!!!

I want to start off by saying that I agree with you guys that there needs to be an overall change to this organization. I don’t believe this coaching staff will last through the season. What would you guys think if we tried to get Peyton Manning here as the head coach? I think that the players would/do look up to him. I think he could once again come in and completely change this organization, get it back on track and make us a playoff football team. Then, possibly he could take over as the GM once Elway’s contract is up. Is this a realistic possibility? And if so, what would we have to do to get him here?
Thanks for your time and hard work answering our questions. You guys do amazing work and glad I found you guys! Shaka!

I refrained from commenting on the last pod as I wanted to hear your takes first, and as usual, you both make a lot of sense with your opinions, (which is why we all love BSN)
Im on the fence over coaching changes, but what are the rules on hiring a new coach mid season? I understand how it is in play off time, but have no clue as to what is allowed in regular season. Can you go after coordinators? Or just unemployed and promote from within? Or college?
RyanClaymon
Hey BSN Family,
To try to keep my mind off of the lost I have been listening to many podcasts once I am caught up on this one. A podcast I was listening to is about what if Tom Brady never took over for the Patriots. They say the whole landscape would be different. I just wanted to get you guys thoughts on how you think the NFL would be different without the Patriots not having Tome Brady.

Hey Ryan and Zac,
Thanks for addressing all our questions about the Broncos potentially making a big move in the aftermath of last weekend. Glad you guys highlighted the fact that, unfortunately, there’s no quick fix here. Or, actually, are we overlooking someone? Yes, that’s right, I couldn’t resist asking: Is there any chance Elway puts the past behind him and gives Colin Kaepernick another shot? 😉

Hey guys, long time listener and first time poster for the Broncos. With the team looking like they are heading for another losing season and with such a strong rookie class, do you think that now would be an ideal time for a “rebuild”? We have a lot of aging guys who are not winning us games anymore and could be useful trade bait. Instead of trying to hold onto a mediocre record I think it could be more beneficial for the team to let the young guys loose and see where it leads us. Would like to know what you think and appreciate the podcast! You guys do a great job and I think you might want to throw your hats in for some hopefully open coaching spots for the Broncos soon ;).
