In regard to it taking defenses time to pick up Fangio’s schemes, we signed the Bears’ CB in Bryce Callahan and have one of the leagues smartest DBs in CHJ as well as veteran CB/Safety in Kareem Jackson. Seems like this is a unit that should pick up this defense fast.
We’re still missing that rangy ILB, but i think we will have a top 5 defense this year! If anything, we’ll take a step back in year two when (if) we lose Chris Harris.

Hey Guys,
One of the many great things about living in Sydney besides its weather and the beaches (flex!) is that you can wear your Broncos jersey and be confident that you will be the only person you will see that day or that month wearing a Broncos jersey. Sydney-siders have a strange like for the Patriots and occasionally you will see Brady jersey around and maybe once in a while a Russel Wilson jersey but I rarely if ever see anyone wearing a Broncos jersey. I jumped into the jersey game with a dependable Von Miller jersey and added a Manning jersey soon after. My son loves his Lindsay orange jersey. Ok, here is the question if you goes come to Sydney and with the knowledge that 99.9% of the people you will pass on the street will have no idea what you are wearing and certainly no idea of the players name, what jersey would you bring over that you would not wear in downtown Denver? Paxton Lynch?

Speaking of John Elway commercials, I remember thinking nobody else could throw a nerf football (or any football) as far as him.
It turns out PFM made some nerf commercials, which I didn’t know about until I was looking at John Elway’s old commercials last night.

Next BSN shirts.
1. Anything that has to do Garrett Bolles and gum balls.
2. A jacked werewolf wearing a ripped up 95 jersey. We call it Derewolf. And it’s styled like a vintage 80s hair band shirt.

Quick hitters:
1. I’m super stoked to see Von Miller and Bradley Chubb and the rest of the D put an end to Brady’s career.
2. Hopefully our line can hold up enough to block for Phil
3. Super excited to have the BSN storys in audio form
4. When are we getting the water competition results? Or did that happen?

Hey Rion Keoeeoegsbirg and Zack Stephens!

Happy to say that you guys have one less high school listener! Since I’m heading out to Denver this summer for school, what do you think the first thing I should do in Denver is, once I move in?

Also, what are your second favorite sports?

Also, I think BBQ sauce is overrated and is used to cover up bad tasting things. Thoughts?

Thanks for the great content!

Thanks for reading my record long comment guys, I promise to keep em short and sweet now that I’ve introduced myself, if it helps clarify the confusing timeline I was in my freshman year of high school when I watched Super Bowl 44, and joined the team at the beginning of the next season. That’s why I felt like “where has this been all my life?!”

I’m counting on you guys to get me through the next 5 weeks, and you can count on me to be involved in the discussions from now on. Also all my Broncos buddies will definitely be hearing about BSN Denver.

Hypothetical question, if you could bring back one ex bronco (at their peak) who would it be?

Hey BSN Family,

Zac: A couple of podcasts I would recommend are Start-Up and the Ron Burgundy podcast. Start-Up is by Gimlet and is about how the guy that created Gimlet got started plus stories about other startups. Would love to hear BSN on the Start-Up podcast. The Ron Burgundy podcast is Will Ferrell in his Ron Burgundy role hosting a podcast. Super funny and if you loved the movie Anchorman, then you will love this podcast.

I became a Broncos fan by accident. When I was born my dad raised me as a 49ers fan. The first NFL season after my parents split I was trying to find a 49ers game on television ( it was easy because I grew up in California ) but on this day I couldn’t find it. My mom who is a Bronco fan for life found a Broncos game for me to watch. The first play I see is Elway breaking two sacks to throw the ball for a touchdown. I was hooked from the start.

Now a football related question: Do you guys plan on bringing back the podcast The 53? It was so awesome to hear about the stories of Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick. Would love to hear more stories.

Thank you. Keep up the AWESOME work.

As a kid I’d watch “the 4-letter network” all summer hoping for that 5 minute story. I can’t believe I’m getting 1-2 hours a day of Broncos coverage now every day between minicamp and training camp!
Broncos Origin Story: My parents moved from Colo Springs to Iowa a few months before I was born, but Mom is originally from Cheyenne and Dad is indifferent towards sports, so I went with Mom, whose large, extended family mostly live between Wyoming and New Mexico, and are all big Broncos fans. So she brought me up cheering for John Elway & co. By the time I was 9 in ’96 and really knew what was going on, Terrell Davis was 100% hero material and the rest is history. My first jersey was Terrell Davis, but it was one of those cheap Starter jerseys with the rubber numbers that came off in the dryer, or if you wore them for pickup tackle football, so when it was replaced with a sewn-on numbers TD jersey, that was more for looks. Added a Champ and a Romanowski. I was 53 in high school because Romo was my next hero, although looking back, I may rethink that now as he had the same qualities that make me want nothing to do with Talib.
Name Origin Story: In 2014, I moved to Boston for grad school. The last Broncos game I got to watch with my Mom before moving away forever was Super Bowl 48–what a disaster. But at that time, the AFC was the Brady-Manning show, so being in Boston as a Broncos fan was awesome. It lasted through Super Bowl 50 so when I met my wife a few months later, her family still recognized the Broncos as the only rival to the Patriots and vice versa. Of course, now we’re relegated to considering the paltry divisional foes as rivals.
Kind of unrelated. My 6-week-old Aaron’s first initials are AJ and our last name is Green, so I bought him a Bengals AJ Green onesie. Is this acceptable until Denver signs him or did A-A-Ron’s Dad done messed up?

I’m intrigued by Yiadom. I know that he was injured for a lot of the offseason, but I didn’t hear much about how he was looking out there. Did he flash for you guys, and would you be comfortable with him being out there for an extended role? He seemed to figure things out towards the end of the year and had a nice pick against Rivers.

Also, I’ve heard a lot about Scangarello being ‘future HC’ material’. What characteristics about him make people think this?

Hey I saw a great article on ESPN about pass rush vs pass blocking and using the next Gen stats stated that good pass protection is more important than pass rush. To me this makes a lot of sense with the fact that a sack a game doesn’t win or lose a game. As good as that would be you are going to have more passes that go as planned then sacks in a game. With that idea, should we be going all in on our O-Line to make sure that they are elite? Let me know your thoughts on this idea.

Also I have still heard about Joe Dineen’s success during camp. When looking at his game film I was not overly impressed, but I do see his athletic ability. Is that one of the main reasons he has been hyped up or is he out there truly being a difference maker? I personally would prefer to see some of our other linebackers on the field at this point over him.

Thanks,
OGMVP

RK,

Long time listener but infrequent commentor. Heard you mentioned how you were worried about McGovern at C and his shotgun snaps. SInce the offseason can be a bit of a lull to find new ideas to talk about daily, RK- why not head back out to Six Zero Strength and have another sit down with McChesney to go over the stuff that McGovern has been working on when it comes to playing Center full time. Might be cool if it was a day that Conner was there. McChesney has always been great about giving the little details about what he works on with the Oline guys and would be great offseason pod for you and Zac to help find out more about the Oline for 2019 and maybe put some fears to bed.

Thanks, great pod from Broncos fan since 1981 ,

Hey guys. Sorry in advance for the long comment. Been listening to every pod for months now, and just subscribed, so lots of built up thoughts.
Please alternate. ?

First, responding to the jersey topic. If you count those little “Hutch” uniforms you get as kids, I had an Elway jersey/uniform. If not, Champ was my first jersey. I got it right when he got traded to the Broncos. After he retired, I got CHJ. I was planning on waiting until CHJ retired to get my next jersey, however, when Phil got signed, it was a no brainer. I’m a huge CU fan and have been a fan of Phil’s since he first signed there (I still have no idea why they wouldn’t play him much for what seemed like years when he was clearly the best back there, but that’s a different topic). Here’s my question. I knew I would be ordering a custom Phil jersey, and that it might be the last jersey I ever wear. I ALMOST ordered one with his preseason number #2. But I waited until he officially made the team and switched to #30. I am still happy that I waited, since #30 is such an iconic number. However, the more Phil jerseys pop up, the more I think it would have been kind of cool to have his original #2. Thoughts on that?

Second, I listen to all of the BSN pods, as well as some other ones, so I have to listen at 2x speed. The other day, my daughter was playing with a stuffed animal sheep. I randomly made a sheep sound right at the same time that Zac laughed. They sounded eerily similar, and made me burst into laughter. Doesn’t make your laugh any less cute, Zac. Maybe moreso. Just thought it was funny. ?

I’ll end it there, and just say that you guys are awesome. Thank you so much for all the good info and insight. I was reluctant to subscribe just bc I have zero time to read articles. But putting them in audio form is something I would definitely try out. Great idea. Between that, the free shirt, and being able to comment finally broke me down and made me a subscriber!

Hey guys, Zack from MS been listening since the voicemail days and just wanted to chime in for the offseason conversations! Buckle up because I want a 2 hour podcast today! ? 1. Bought my 1st sports related jersey last week when I went to GA for some HVAC training. Brought the wife and son to watch the Braves play Detroit. Took the leap and purchased an Austin Riley jersey (hopefully didn’t jump the gun too soon.) I was a Braves fan before I found you guys, sorry haha. I’m afraid I’ve started an addiction as I’m looking at buying a Broncos jersey now. Either Chubb or Lindsey but I’m leaning with double 5’s as I think it’s a sick number. 2. I came from a baseball family, so they’re not crazy about football like me and my brother. He likes the Giants(RIP in the chat?), but my Broncos love story began in the Tebow era. I was a Tebow fan(the player not the QB, I understand his ball looked like a dying duck in the air LOL) because of his clutch factor and the walk off In Pittsburgh sealed the deal for my team of choice. Imagine my reaction when they brought in my favorite QB Peyton manning. I hated Tebow didn’t get another shot but I knew the Broncos had just made a huge upgrade and we’re going to be dangerous. 3. Skip as is tradition 4. Y’all were talking about cuttin yards yesterday and Ryan’s comment about hitting the snake had me laughing so hard I nearly ran off the road. No worries I kept it between the lines but have sore ribs from the experience. Fun story about grass cutting that’s Ryan’s snake incident made me think of wwas when my mom was cutting the grass. This family let it get knee high, and as she was cutting grass she started yelling and steering a John Deere Zero turn mower all over the place. Come to find out, there were field rats in the grass and she is deathly afraid of rats and she scared them out and hit a few herself with the mower. I was laughing nearly as hard as I was with Ryan’s comment. 5. Another fun fact for my Broncos fandom is my Siberian Husky is named Denver and I named my first born son Paxton….. not gonna tell him how he got that name when he gets older, so moving on from that haha. 6. Zac I understand your frustration with the name spelling as mine is spelled with the ch quite often as well. However it is spelled Zachery on my Birth Certificate, but as a 5 year old I could not be convinced that my name was spelled with a ch. I said ck made the correct sound not ch, and my parents and teachers chose not to fight me. ?? We have to fight the system bud for correct spelling of names LOL 7.Skip as this number is retired for the great John Elway??. 8. Last but not least I wanted to tell you guys how much we as the BSN Broncos community appreciate you Ryan and Zac! Your sports coverage, care for the subscribers, and diligence to deal with the facts is absolutely amazing and is what sets you guys apart! For anyone who hasn’t subscribed, you are doing not only yourselves a disservice but these great guys ability to give more to the community as well! The amount of coverage they give is far more valuable than the small amount a subscription costs but I’m sure helps them a ton! Once again thanks guys and hopefully my comment can drag another 5 minutes worth of talk time out of you guys and make my day go by just a little faster LOL! Thanks again and Go Broncos!

Hey guys haven’t commented in awhile and wanted to give my take on a few topics. Sorry for the long post but I want one of those 2+ hour pods.

1. I started my broncos fandom when I was in third grade playing running back and they gave me the number 30 so I went on my search to find an NFL team that had a running back with the same number as me. Well turns out at the time that was Terrell Davis. So from then on out I’ve been a broncos fan even through the Brian Griese days, which brings me to my next point.

2. My first jersey was a blue silk Brian Griese jersey with the printed numbers. I have not and will not own a shersey (unless as stated it is aquired for free).

3. I need to buy a new jersey and would like to buy a Phil Lindsey jersey but don’t want to feel like a bandwagon guy for it. Granted I’ve been on the Phil train since he joined the team last year thanks to Ryan and even drafted him on my fantasy team. So my question is does that make me a bandwagon guy?

4. So I hear there is a few other BSN community members from Washington State and was curious who is planning on attending the Denver vs. Seattle game? Also for those that are, possibly we could have a meet up at the game.

5. So I know you guys get to know the players on aore personal level than the rest of us and was curious in your guy’s opinion which player is the funniest/ biggest jokester on the team. And to counter that who is the most down to business strictly football type guy on the team ( excluding Fangio haha)

6. Just want to thank you guys for all the great coverage and insight I have never really had any interest in the off-season coverage but I do now and that is soley thanks to you guys for makong it so interesting to me.

8. Just want to say that I think the audio stories is a great idea to help me get even more coverage at work to pass my day.

Hey guys, just wanted to comment on the current topics on the podcast.

1. I became a Broncos fan at age 7 after my mom remarried. My stepdad got stationed in Fort Carson in Colorado. Before we left Hawaii, I remember the Broncos went to the Super Bowl against the Packers and being told the Broncos were the football team of Colorado. So we watched the Broncos win and I’ve been a fan ever since. I started off as a fan with back to back championships. Not a bad way to begin I must say. I never looked back even when times were bad. Things are looking up now for sure.

2. As for jerseys, I never had one as a kid, I only had Broncos shirts. When I started making my own money, I finally bought one.

I am careful about which jerseys I buy. I think how long the player has left on his contract and their possibility of being a long term Bronco. So my first jersey was a dark blue Champ Bailey, then a white Peyton Manning, and then an orange Von Miller. Thinking of maybe Chubb or Lindsay or possibly Lock? What do you guys think?

4. Will Drew Lock get a lot of playing time in the Hall of Fame game against the Falcons? That would be so much more entertaining then watching Kevin Hogan.

5. Any love for banana cream pie? If you ever come to Hawaii, there is a delicious Ted’s Chocolate Haupia pie you guys should try.

The best fruit…that’s a hard one but one fruit that I just can’t like I matter how many times I’ve tried are cantaloupes.

But, the best podcast and articles by far is done by BSN Denver. Thanks guys for all your hard work.

Aloha,
K. Pang

Hey guys
1:I’m not anti bbq sauce, but steak sauce, steak sauce is lip stick on a pig. If you need steak sauce throw the steak in the trash it’s garbage.
2:how does a media outlet get recognized as media. Is there some sort of process to become official media or can anyone just start a podcast and get access to locker room etc.
4:I’ve always tried to get into basketball but couldn’t get it to stick until this year. The BSN nuggets and you guys made it stick. Ordered a Jokic jersey yesterday.
5: who was the best hitter at the uc health event? Saw my guy Jano went yack 3 times!
6:die hard Texas rangers fan so cant ever be a total Denver sports fan but my goal for this year is to get into hockey following the Avs.
8:I think B. Marshall should get more flack than he does between insufficient play after signing a big contract and going to a division rival seems it would be a bigger deal. I almost ordered a Bmarsh jersey and am thankful I didn’t.
9:I’m running my first 5k on the 4th of July which got me to thinking. I wish BSN had some sort of dry-fit type shirt I can wear when I run or workout; also golf shirts would be cool.

Thanks keep it up!
