Hey guys i promise to dial back the length of the comments haha
What JJ Watt and Clowney coming to town, what do you think the broncos need to do to slow the passrush down? Running the ball seems like the logical move but JJ Watt is good at stuffing the run as well. Do you see us using the same gameplan we used for the LAR, we almost pulled off the win (on paper)
Thanks,
Broncojoe
What’s up Fellas!
I’ve been listening to the pod from the sidelines for the past few months, and finally subscribed when the “locker” promo code popped up…. I couldn’t pass up on a free Phil shirt! Anyway, as fan who’s spent most of my time in areas where the Broncos are disliked (Seattle, and now North Carolina), I wanted to say that I really enjoy listening to you guys dissect the team on a daily basis! It makes my daily commute much more tolerable. No question today, just wanted to say thanks, and keep up the good work!

No, No, No, the 1996 team that lost to the jaguars was the best broncos team i have ever seen. maybe you guys are too young to remember.
my question is to zac, have you been living under a rock all your life? i live in mexico and even i have had a hot pocket once or twice on my trips to the US. lol
i really enjoy the content of the podcats and the website, i didnt catch a promo but the subscription is worth by far the price.

Here’s a interesting fact: The Broncos have never gotten to a Super Bowl with a QB they’ve drafted. Since 1970 the Broncos have had 40 first round picks, 4 of which were used on quarterbacks (Tommy Maddox, Jay Cutler, Tim Tebow and Paxton Lynch). These quarterbacks combined for a pathetic 26-34 regular season record and 1-1 in the playoffs. That being said the only one of these were drafted above 20, Jay Cutler @ 11..My point is that Elway is not the only Brobcos GM to struggle with drafting quarterbacks, in fact Tim Tebow is the only qb drafted by the Broncos to win a playoff game! Ive rambled a little so here’s my question: Since Elway will never embrace the tank, can you see the Broncos making a play for Andrew Luck? Two of the 3 quarterbacks to take the Broncos to the Super Bowl were thanks to the Colts, so is it possible that the Colts make a move for the future, draft a quarterback this year, and alla Peyton Manning kick Luck to the curb for Elway to swoop up? This might be pie in the sky but I’ll never give up hope for a quick turnaround back to contention. This comment was long I know so I’ll try (emphasis on TRY) to keep it short next time.
Forever hopeful,

PS was forced to turn to the waiver wire for a quarterback in my fantasy football league for this week. I had 2 options: Derek Carr against a average D or some no name Nick Mullins. It’s midway through the third and Carr has 5 points. Nick Mullins has 18. NICK FREAKING MULLINS! Why can’t the Broncos get some late round, no name gem to work out?
TLDR: Never trust Jon Gruden.
3 and Outstanding
Denver can’t even keep a backup QB on the team and here I am watching the 49ers roll out Nick Mullens who is balling out of his mind as CJ Beathard’s backup. I’m not sure if this kid is actually as good as the Raiders are making him look.
At this point, I’d settle for a QB who can just make it through a game without turning the ball over. It’s been so long since Denver has had one of those I have forgotten what it looks like.
Over/Under: Do the Broncos score more or fewer times than Derrick Carr was sacked last night. (As of this writing, Carr has been sacked at least 4 times and it’s not even halftime.)
Cullin' for Mullens
Go ahead and sell the farm
Nicholas Mullens can do no harm
Whether it’s Pierre Garcon up the middle
Or a 71 yarder to George Kittle
The Oakland Raiders never did score
Once Nicholas Mullens took the floor
Compared to Keenum, compared to Carr
He is the most dominant 4 by far
So go ahead and sell the Farm
The boy from Hoover’s got me charmed
Go ahead and sell the farm
Nick Clayton Mullens has got the arm
Also, what do the Broncos have to do this season for us, the listeners, to hear Zac and Ryan’s rendition of “Lonely on the Weekend” in the outro?
Much Love,
A slightly bored Broncos fan

Hello Broncos family. Draft question. I’ve been looking ahead to the 2019 draft, and if you’ve been following along with Andre’s draft coverage, you’d know that DL is STACKED. Broncos are primed to have some legit studs availible to them at the position. Wolfe is a top candidate for cap casualty, and Peko is going to need to be replaced soon. That said, I’ve been thinking about the potential of moving Chubb to DE full time, and having Shaq and Von as our edge rushers. Chubb is built for 3-4 end, and the move would fill a need and open up draft options for a tackle or top CB. These moves always seem “obvious” in my mind, but NFL coaches rarely if ever do what I think they should. It wouldn’t be a seamless transition obviously, much like trying Bolles at LG, but I’ll ask the pros: is this a realistic option or just a pipe dream of a fan who wants 3 elite pass rushers on the field 80% of the time? Thanks guys.

At least we ain’t as bad as the Raiders. As far as I’m concerned, if the Broncos finish with a better record than the Raiders, it is a winning season.

Pronounced Kale like the vegetable.
In a fun hypothetical, what if Nick Mullens continues his success that came out of no where Thursday night? What if he plays lights our for much of the remaining season?
The 49ers would then have Mullens and Jimmy G. With the relationship Elway and Lynch have could you see a trade happening for one of the two QBs?
No need to turn to the draft, and a future QB is brought to the team. With the strength of last year’s draft class the Broncos could focus on either Corner or tackle in the upcoming draft and be one of the most promising young teams in the AFC.

Going back to the mid-season awards, what have been your offensive and defensive plays of the year so far?
Ryan, have you been back to 60Strength for another work out or are you one and done??
Also, were did Zac grow up? On top of a mountain?!! It’s like he’s never eaten anything or watched any show!!

Listening through the mid-season awards, wanted to throw a few different opinions.
Best supporting actor – the Kid McManus, outside of last week he’s been perfect
Now onto a few questions that I feel shouldn’t need to be asked at this point in the season. How many weeks in a row do we have to keep asking “why aren’t we running the ball more”? It’s a glaring stat at this point in the season with our rushing attack being top-5 and thriving last week even with Royce out.
How did we manage to get worse at the punter position? King wasn’t quite as advertised but I’d take his “off” punts over shanks hit on phantom whistles.
Also Ryan, completely agree that Halloween sucks.
Hoping to go into the bye week with a little happiness.

What’s crack-a-lackin fellas! So the mid season awards got me thinking and I really think Jano deserves and honorable mention for the superb blocking he’s provided to our backs all year. He’s just as important as the offensive line when he’s leading the block for Lindsay and Freeman. Guys a beast! Also I think McManus deserves an honorable mention for being so consistent this season. Like you mentioned, Tom McMahon has helped get him back on track this year. With so many kickers this season missing 3-4 field goals a game (in crucial moments I might add) and later being cut, I can really appreciate B-Macs consistency.
Now for a question: With the Raiders in freefall, and Carr not fitting in with Grudens system it seems, would you guys be opposed to acquiring him in the offseason? I think the guy has some serious talent. We saw it when Bill Musgraves was with him. I just think Gruden has a tendency to make his own players look bad and I don’t think he’s been a fan of Carr since he got there.
Go Broncos
MrFreeze
Tom McMahon can’t seem to get the right amount of guys on the field, otherwise our special teams has looked exponentially better than last year.
BroncoAggie24
Howdy guys!
I know there was some confusion surrounding the number 24. The first broncos game I remember going to was the 2005 divisional game against the Patriots. After that pick in the endzone, I became a die-hard Champ Bailey fan.
Now to the question. If the broncos end up winning this weekend, and VJ keeps his job through the bye, is there another point in the season that would be a potential spot for letting him go?
Also I just want to say how much I loved the DT piece, Zach, it really got to me. I’m glad that I’ll be able to keep watching him in Texas. Loved watching the Raiders get rolled last night. I think the NFL is always better when the Raiders are bad.
Thanks!
BroncoAggie24
Well I definitely misspoke. Ryan YOU did a fantastic job on the DT piece. Sorry for trying to give Zach all the credit

Hey guys. I know a lot of us are looking to the draft already, but I’m still hoping for a winning season. So with that in mind I looked at the schedule ahead. How possible is it that we go 3-1 in the next four weeks. If that occurs we could really be looking at a week 17 playoff game because of the “easier” weeks 14-16. Thoughts?
TLDR: Looking for hope this season.
Hey Ryan and Zac,
I do not pretend to be a football expert but I have one NFL Defensive related question.
Why do teams not get physical with tight-ends off the line of scrimmage, specifically Kelsey and Gronk. I know these guys are huge but it would seem to be a better strategy to at least try to bump them off their route and throw the QB’s timing off than rather let them get a head of steam and run 15 yards down field untouched. I think specifically of Kelsey’s TD against Denver last weekend where he was untouched until he caught the ball in the end zone. The first I was taught in HS football was Hitting the tight-end off the line of scrimmage was vital to stopping them.
Sorry if I am being naive! Just curious!
Thanks Guys.
Andreas3000
Hey guys
With your chat about possible QB’s for next year. The Ravens look like they like Laram Jackson, might that make Flacco available? Do you reckon that might be a possibility and would it be a win now move by Elway? The only other decent QB I think might be available might be Derek Carr.
The Matrix
Hey guys,
After the raiders just got molly whopped last night. With the continuing rumors and visual disconnect between Jon Gruden and derek carr. What’s your thoughts on reuniting bill musgrave and carr via trade. What do you think carrs asking price would be? Part 2 of the question.we all know vance joseph has under produced in the win column, but in his 2nd year where he had more control of the staff, weve seen large improvements in the young core. Would moving on from vance mean moving on from the new position coaches that have already shown their worth?
