You guys were talking about the Bills getting more quality picks to move up in the draft (which makes complete sense- I agree). Maybe the 2nd round tender on Shaq was intentional as a later decision. With reports that they won’t get Kirk and that Keenum will cost more than he is worth. Maybe they realized they can add another 2nd rounder or keep Shaq for just a little cheaper. But my thought is that they are hoping to get that extra second. And they are starting to turn the attention to the QB they like best in the draft. They certainly didn’t make a lot of noise about getting a particular FA QB on the first day of tampering. It’s just a thought, but maybe they want that extra second to help with a trade up.

As you guys were talking about the Saints and Baker Mayfield it reminds me of something I saw while watching the NFL Combine coverage. Did you guys see Steve Mariucci’s “Combine Whiteboard” where he sat down with Mayfield?

He asked Mayfield to diagram a play that he briefly showed him on the board, and also wanted detailed explanations to gauge his comprehension. Mayfield did ok to regurgitate what he saw, and admitted that he’s still learning the west coast concept now and he’s taken a couple of meetings. What was interesting was when Mariucci asked him who he learned it from, Baker said “the Saints would be the biggest one that I’ve learned some of this stuff from.”

Wow. So the idea that New Orleans and Brees may not have an agreement yet because the Saints are so interested in Mayfield, but that Brees is not on board definitely has something there. So the question is, what if Brees really is out there on the market and what scenarios would the Saints realistically have to do to even get in position to even draft Mayfield?

We’ll never mind about what I said about Brees in my comment above. Just saw the news about Broncos planning to sign Keenum on Wednesday.

So I guess we can now know that the Broncos’ strategy is to acquire their QB of the future in the draft. Who do you see as our best likely trade partner to swap the #5 with, with all our draft ammo?

With the addition of Keenum, do you think the Broncos will do what they can to get Barkley to make sure that it is not all on his shoulders? Does this leave any room to get Solder still or any other big free agents?

Do you guys think the signing of Keenum means they still haven’t given up on developing Paxton Lynch? I’m still holding out hope they’ll draft a QB at 5, but it looks much less likely now

Morning gentlemen,

Today I woke up to a few things. Keenum looks to be coming to the Broncos and the Bills traded up to now have the number 12 and number 22 draft slots. I am not thrilled about the signing of Keenum but it could have been worse. I am still holding out that Brees will magically sign with the Broncos. But until then, I do have a question.

What is the likely hood the Broncos try to trade with the Bills for the number 12 and 22 spots for the 5 since the Bills are going to be QB hungry? The Broncos can still use the 5 spot to draft a QB of the future or they can move to 12 and 22 with the possibility of getting Quenton Nelson or Will Hernandez at 12 and maybe a good slot receiver or TE at 22?

Thanks for everything.

Correction……Bills are slotted to trade for the number 12 from the Bengals since it can’t happen until Wednesday afternoon.

Now that I’m done hyperventilating about the probable Keenum signing… Does this mean that talks with Cousins and Brees fell through, or do you think that the Broncos outweigh the benefits of drafting a franchise quarterback (and/or possibly Barkley) over dumping a ton of money into free agency?

Okay….Now that I finished listening to the ENTIRE podcast, I see you guys already talked about my earlier question/comment. So don’t worry about talking about it on today’s podcast. You guys are on it and I am just a little behind the times.

Of course now I have no idea with Free Agency and the Draft. The Broncos are supposedly signing Keenum tomorrow and Brees just signed a 2 year deal with the Saints. Cousins is more than likely going to the Vikings, so now what……I can’t wait for tomorrow and then the Draft in April. I hope the Broncos actually make a splash during this time versus the last two off seasons as a whole.

Keep it up fellas and I can’t wait for more coverage!

Hey guys I just subscribed and I’ve been thinking about it for a while. With Keenum do you think they will be more willing to to pick up Quentin Nelson at five or just trading back? Also how do you think Von Miller feels about this after trying to get Cousins here?

With the news of Keenum in Denver, this complicates things with the draft. Does Keenum give you guys enough assurance to not pick a QB in the first round? It is worrying seeing that Minnesota didn’t think Keenum was worth another year at QB. If you were in the front office, would you still try to draft a QB at 5 or go with another position?

Thanks

Idea: Use this year’s first and next year’s first (along with some combination of our day 2 picks this year) in order to trade up to 1 and draft Barkley. Thoughts? The draft chart says that it would take the two firsts and this year’s second or two firsts, two thirds this year, and a 4th. Which would you rather give up?

This is off topic. I just heard that the BSN Rockies Podcast is going to have a fantasy baseball league. I was wondering if you guys or any of the subscribers would like to have a fantasy football league?

I am in! Awesome idea Ryan. Let’s get one together. If we get about ten people interested, pencil me in. And I hope Ryan (Koenigsburg) drafts a QB in round 1 so I can get that RB he passes on

No worries man. They are just hating. They get rid of their best player in Suh and they don’t have a QB or a WR. We will have the last laugh as we will be in the playoffs and they are picking in the top 5 next year.
