From the second VJ was fired my top 2 candidates were Taylor and Fangio. Looks like Elway doesn’t have any real interest in Taylor which I expected so hopefully Fangio is the guy! It’ll come down to his coordinator choices tho. I think Kubiak will be the assistant HC not the OC. Offense still needs juice and innovation so that hire is key.

Hey fellas,

As I listened to your podcast today, I’m feeling like we are all going to find out that Munchak or Fangio ends up being the hire and we all rejoice with a, “OK. Cool.” Like we are excited that we have a coach but neither fires us and gets us daydreaming of brighter days. I feel that the Broncos are going to go with the older, wiser and consistent hire because of their current QB situation. Had Denver had a QB room that inspired creativity perhaps their coach search might have included some more young offensive minds. Instead, we are stuck with Case Keenum and probably some other veteran QB picked up this offseason. Thus, creating a situation where a Kubiak type offense and some solid defense is the best choice right now. Until we solve the QB room, the Broncos and their new head coach are destined to be no better than an 8-10 win team that maybe makes the playoffs. I don’t have a question, just a general feeling about the team. I hope they crush the draft again this year and that they bring in 2-3 QB’s via free agency and the draft to compete with Case. I need a QB that I can believe in again.

Thanks!

BadOne Log 20:

Hey guys! I live in Chicago and the hype around the Bears defense was unreal, I watched a lot of Bear games (when the Broncos aren’t playing of course) and that defense is no joke. Fangio was able to elevate that secondary to a new height, and that front 7 was just insane week after week. It really reminded me of the 2015 Broncos but they couldn’t finish the job.

Anyways I was excited to hear that the Broncos Brass stayed longer than expected to talk to Fangio. I am really 100% onboard with Fangio coming on as the HC and bringing “his guy” to run his defense as the DC, then Kubiak taking over as the OC with the help on Klint Kubiak. Could you imagine having the best DC of 2018 reworking our defense and a SB winning HC/OC rebirthing the offense! talk about excitement. Bronco fans are fast to forget that Gary Kubiak was one of the best play callers from 2004-2014! I think Ricko had something to do with 2015/2016.

Anyways my real question, if Elway hires Fangio and brings Kubiak as the OC, isn’t he basically repeating the formula he tried with VJ/McCoy BUT with much much better talent? I think he knows the reason that plan stalled it is because he hired the wrong combo.

Ya Boi,

Bears secondary is elevated by that front 7. Not taking anything away from Fangio because he also ran the front 7 but I don’t think he’s a secondary guru.

Putting on my tin foil hat. So what if the Broncos have been putting out all this stuff about Kubiak coaching again as a distraction to bring Zac Taylor in as an HC candidate while really wanting him for OC. This organization knows that the NFL is changing and Kubiaks system is as archaic as it gets. I have no idea who the other candidates for OC are besides Kubiak and maybe the Longshot Taylor. If Kubiak is OC get ready for another year of chewing up clock and scoring 17 ppg. Just another reason why I think they’re going to focus on the defense and just be mediocre on offense again.
On another note I want no part of Nick Foles. Let him go to Miami or Jacksonville. He’s been trash any time there’s not a big moment. So I guess if we get a good regular season QB and just use Foles when we get to the playoffs it could work.

Also, on the subject of QBs, I really want them to make a run at Jacoby Brisset. I think he has some major potential and is in the mold of where NFL QBs are headed. Plus his name is Brisset which sounds like brisket and who doesn’t love a good brisket? Sorry for the long comments but the off-season gets me pumped.

Hey guys,

I took a break from the Broncos to help make my holidays a little more cheery, but I’m back and ready to reinvest myself in our Broncos. I’m with BadOne on the Bears defense. An elite QB or offense didn’t matter when a team faced the Bears this year. The Broncos might have great pass rushers, but there is a noticeable difference when the Bears defense takes the field. There is rarely a snap where the QB has even a second to get comfortable and make a good throw, and I just didn’t see the same thing happening in Denver despite getting lots of sacks from our studs. Whether it’s hiring Fangio or drafting a third guy to wreak havoc at #10, I’m in. Give me that same type of QB deflation in Denver!

Hey guys Great Pod. Riddle me this… I get the hype around Nick Foles and his legendary playoff status, but didn’t he have his chance to replace Alex Smith in KC (2016; Pre-Mahomes)??? If Andy Reid is the “QB Guru” everyone claims him to be then why did he let Foles go? I’m hesitant at best to make any trade attempt for a QB who hasn’t proven himself to be more than a product of the system. Thanks!

Hey guys loves the podcast been listening since last offseason. Now, I seem to remember y’all mocking John Gruden for trading Mack. I was right there with you. How much better are they without him? Is it better to have one or two of the best pass rushers? I would trade him for Carson but NEVER for picks. You were mocking gruden because “you can’t tell how good the picks will be”. Sorry for the rant it just seems a little hypocritical to me. And I know they have a quarterback but you didn’t like Carr a the first of the season. Thanks for the coverage I just usually come here to get away from the radio knuckleheads??

Hey guys, as great as Lindsay is, let’s accept that he isn’t the rookie of the year. There are two choices either Mayfield (only because he’s a qb) or Saquon because holy crap the dude had over 2000 yards behind a bad O line! Barkley was truly a can’t miss player and we need to remove the orange glasses and accept he was the best rookie. With that said, Lindsay was the steal of the year without a close second, he’ll be a beast for years and we didn’t spend the number 2 pick on him.

Heyo,
I’ve been getting pretty hyped for the offseason, I’m ready to get this thing rolling. My question/comment is about the draft. I think with the tenth pick we should draft the best player available and avoid trading the farm to move into a position to get Haskins. We have a lot of needs that could be helped with the tenth pick, whether that ends up being Greedy Williams, Jonah Williams, Devin White, Deandre Baker, Etc… We could draft somebody there that would be an immediate and long time contributor. With the second round pick we take a “2nd tier” QB like Daniel Jones or Will Grier. They sit behind Keenum for about six games then get thrown into the fire to prove themselves. This move would put pressure on Keenum to perform and if he doesn’t rise to the occasion then the rookie gets a chance to prove he could be a franchise player. If all that doesn’t work then we’re probably in a prime spot to draft Tua in 2020. Thoughts???

Sorry for the long post, much love!

Hey there, BSN fam!!! It’s been a minute since I have commented. In fact, last time I commented, the broncos were coming off of a 3 game win streak and potentially on there way to make some noise in the post season! It’s amazing how quickly EVERYTHING can change.

Zac and Ryan, I’m always excited to read and listen to your content. Thanks for everything. You guys are the first thing I listen to in the morning on my way to work. Also, Zac, CONGRATULATIONS on your shareholding! That is awesome and much deserved!

Have any of these candidates passed the “punch in the face” part of the interview? It’s fun picturing this…. John Elway just calmly going about the interview, asking questions when all of a sudden: BAM!!! across the face swings kubiak’s fist while the interviewers await the response from the candidate! ???

Thanks as always guys! Still waiting for the podcast where Zac eats a hot pocket while watching the adventures of Doug. Much love
