Hi guys,

New subscriber here. I used the Black Friday deal to create an account and it felt like I was getting paid to sign up. Excited to be part of the BSN fam!

Anyway, I’m curious what you guys saw from three players:

1. Garrett Bolles. Has his play actually improved over the last few weeks? Clearly he’s not allowing a super many sacks, but is he still getting beat at a similar rate?

2. Sua Cravens. He got torched be an old man against LA. How’d he fare this week?

3. Isaac Yiadom. He played! And did…well?

I’m not really in analytic scout mode as I watch live, so insights and observations are appreciated!

We need another tight end. One of the main differences I’ve noticed during the last 3 games is the increased involvement of the tight ends, so what about bringing in another veteran like Coby Fleener. He had a few good years in New Orleans especially by Denver’s standards and appears to be the best option still on the market.

Beautiful rendition of the opener, Zac and Ryan! If you can’t put together “Lonely On The Weekend” for a Broncos three game win streak against the Bengals, which is looking more likely considering the Andy Dalton news (Touch Wood), then I’m sure you two can produce something else special.

The Broncos have become the “Streak Slayers” these past couple of weeks, but they can take a week off from that now, so the Bengals can continue their losing streak. *Touch Wood*

I concur with Bronco Jimmy, meat pies are amazing. And though I haven’t tried it yet, potato chips are a welcome addition to most foods. I’ll also have to try that dim sim, hot dog combo. Us Aussies have to stick together!

When it comes to compensatory picks, what determines the pick (specifically what round) the team receivers? Also, what happened to ad free mondays and Dog Haus Thursdays?

Especially with Heuerman going down, do you think we might see more 21 Personnel sets? All three backs have shown they are more than capable receivers coming out of the back field. I know the inline blocking would suffer but isn’t that a weak point of the remaining TE’s on the roster anyway? This may give your man Lindsay a chance at more touches too.

Thoughts?

Also, I love VJ’s quote on Phil – “Has the courage to run through the darkness” Ya’ll need to make a Phil t-shirt about taht! “Run through the Darkness” on a black t-shirt – that would be dope

One question and a bunch of opinions
1. VJ isn’t going anywhere next season because the Broncos aren’t going to have a losing season this year and this team has shown improvement over the year.
2. Someone put a curse on this teams TE’s after Shannon left, any time someone shows some promise something ends their season. Fingers crossed for Lacosse.
3. A few weeks ago I said that every game has “those plays” that could go either way and decide the game, the Broncos now have those plays going their way and their schedule gets way easier from here. 10-6 here we come.
4. If the Broncos don’t re-sign Roby, I could see him going to New England and getting used in a way that makes him look like a top tier CB.
Q: With the injury to Shaq, do you guys think that makes him more likely to get re-signed here. and do you think the Broncos have been strategically underplaying him in hopes of keeping his numbers low to re-sign him? I think he’s better than Ray and isn’t getting as much playing time.

My guys!

I’ve been having trouble getting comments to go through on the app, so here’s hoping this one gets through.

First of all, great duet! I agree that Cullen for Mullens’ nickname of GOAT is good, but you should just consider BSN Broncos Poet Lauriette. I’m wondering how Andy Dalton being moved to IR effects the upcoming game against the Broncos. If we go on a 3 game winning streak, are we more likely to continue the trend and make 10-6 and bigger possibility?

Thanks guys!

GO BRONCOS!

A word about New Mexico: chili rellenos. You can’t beat NM chili rellenos and you can eat your way down to Hatch and buy pounds of them to bring home.

Had to extend my subscription even though it wasn’t up until March because that deal was too good. Thanks.

Here’s the football question: what happened to Traylor? Seems like there’s a guy they might be able to bring back because he knows the system?

Hello BSN Fam! Glad to hear there has been such a huge growth in subscribers over the last couple months. Zac, Ryan, Andre, and A.J. (plus a few guests) on the Broncos Podcast have done a tremendous job in gaining momentum and bringing such great interest in the BSN community. Dilly Dilly to you all!

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front):
What are thoughts on the chances of the Broncos being able to overtake the Ravens for the last wildcard seed?

With losses to the Chiefs, Titans, Ravens, and Jets, the Broncos will pretty much have to go 10-6 in order to make the playoffs. At the going rate, the Chiefs and the Titans are almost guaranteed to make the playoffs/wildcard. The Jets seem to be falling into a hole and do not look to be able to make it back up the charts to catch the Broncos.

That leaves the Ravens. We are one game behind and a tie breaker loss to them. So the Broncos would need to be 1 game ahead of them at the end of the regular season. (Yes, I know you know this, but I am just putting thoughts into words). The Ravens lost 4 in a row before their bye week (same week as ours) and they also have won their last two games. Their last 5 games consist of 3 away games and 2 home games. Their home games are against the Buccaneers and the Browns. Two teams, most would suspect they will win against. Though the Browns are starting to gain their footing. Their away games are against the Falcons, Chiefs, and Chargers. Not easy teams to play against on the road. Though the Falcons depend on which team the Ravens get to play against. I foresee a loss to the Chiefs and the Chargers but who knows. I believe they win against the Buccaneers. As for the Browns……lets see what kind of game they bring in the next couple weeks.

So lets say the Ravens go 3-2 in the rest of the season. They end the season at 9-7. If the Broncos can run amok and win the rest of their games, they will end 10-6. A really good chance for the last wildcard spot.

As for the remaining teams looking for that last spot, there seems to be the Colts, Dolphins, Bengals and Titans that pose a threat. As of right now my guess for these teams would be:
Colts – 4-1 (maybe 3-2)
Dolphins – 3-2
Bengals – 2-3 (especially with the loss of Dalton)
Titans – 3-2

If the Colts go 4-1, then they would tie Denver for 10-6….Got to look on how the tiebreaker would work against these two teams.

The others would be under 10-6.

So in the end, I see the Colts and the Ravens as being the two teams that pose threats to a playoff picture for a 10-6 Broncos. But first…the Broncos need to get there..

All for now.

GO BRONCOS!!!

Hey R&Z!
My thoughts on whether or not VJ sticks around: if the Broncos go 4-1 over the next five games, he stays. Elway has been reluctant to go full-rebuild, so this fits the narrative. Also, Keenum is on the books for one more year, so there is an incentive to give the VJ-Keenum pairing one last go of it (again, if they go 4-1). Then, if the team sucks in 2019, Elway can start over with a new QB and a new coach who will want to shake-up the roster in order to implement his system.
Also, in regards to the Shaq Barrett injury, does this mean Jeff Holland gets to play with the big boys?

Hey guys! Just got on the cyber Monday deal so this is my first ever comment! Just want to let you know you guys do great work! Been listing for over a year and you guys are always entertaining and honest. Which is much appreciated. I just saw an article that says VJ says Phillip Lindsey doesn’t need more touches. Why on earth not? This kid is a beast and should be fed the rock. I don’t understand why we don’t use him more. I can see him having a Daren Sproles type or role, but we seem to never pass to him. Why not give your play makers to ball more?
Thanks again for all you do!!

It’s amazing what can change in two weeks. We’ve come out of the pit of depression into the field of hope – which I hear fuels rebellions. I wasn’t sure you guys could go all season with a podcast everyday, and your consistent content has really impressed me. Even when we were losing and felt like all was lost, you guys still pushed through and made pods. Some Broncos media only comes around when things are going well- you guys talk us off the ledge when things get rough.

I love that Phil Lindsey is killing it. I never really liked CJ Anderson or Booker. So I’m pumped to have a running back (or two, Freeman as well) that will run downhill and not just run into the back of the linemen and fall down.

Anyway, I just took advantage of the cyber Monday deal and wanted to leave a comment to mark the occasion. Love the show. Much love. ??#thathotpocketlife

Gotta give Ryan credit…. he called it early on that Heuerman would make the team, and not only that but also fill a pretty significant role. A lot of people (honestly including myself) thought you were crazy. But bro…. You deserve a beer for calling that one.

I feel like Heureman actually (in relative terms) balled out this season. Almost exactly doubling his career total yards, doubling his touchdowns, and destroyed his season reception high.

I’m legitimately super sad about him going down… and that’s not a feeling I expected to have this season.

Hey guys, with Melvin Gordon out for a few weeks, do you foresee the first wild card spot being a possibility for the Broncos? I never realized how easy of a schedule the Chargers had to open up. It surprises the hell out of me people get so high on them. However, they’ll be playing some much better teams, including us in Denver to close out the season. I think both wild card spots are a possibility! What’s your take?

(Pronunciation guide: zoo-bee-YAH-gah. Rhymes with Gaga)

Hey Zach and Ryan,

I know you guys said that VJ had an error-less game, but there was one decision that seemed really odd to me.

On the last drive of the game, Pittsburgh has a 1st and Goal coming back from two-minute warning, Roethlisberger throws an incomplete pass and then Conner runs for a 1-yard gain in bounds. The clock is at 1:47 at the end of the play, and the Steelers are in no hurry, so they let it run all the way down to 1:07.

My question is: why doesn’t VJ take a timeout the moment Conner is downed in bounds? I know you can’t assume they’re going to score, but you have to be prepared for it, right? What if the play of Harris’ pick results in a TD? You have basically 1 minute to get about 50 yards, albeit with all 3 timeouts available. Isn’t it better to have 1:40 with 2 timeouts?? Maybe I’m missing something, but it just seemed very odd to me seeing the clock wind down like that at such a critical time of the game.

Thanks for the consistently good content, keep it up.

Hey BSN family!!!! I’m a new subscriber, but I have been listening to the podcast for I believe a couple of years. Ryan, who was the OG co-host with you? I feel like it was something Krystal. You should bring him back from time to time, I’ll bet he has had a hot pocket….
Anyway, I owe a HUGE thank you to the BSN community. As I stated when I reached out to Ryan via social media, my mom, the biggest broncos fan I have ever met (outside of myself of course), passed last year at age 55. Anyway, we watched broncos games EVERY Sunday until she passed, even in the hospital. We would constantly annoy my sister and dad, who shared very little interest in the team at all, with constant talk about the team. When she passed, I had no one else around here to talk strictly Broncos with as I live in Indiana, home of the most bandwagony fans in the world. I was very sad about this as this was a huge aspect of my mom’s and my relationship. Guys, THIS podcast and now complete Denver sports media outlet has been the best way to keep in touch with my inner fandom and still feel a connection to her as she would have loved BSN. Anyway, this is more than just news and sports coverage…. SO MUCH MORE…..

I don’t have a question today, but I really felt the need to share my appreciation to the bsn Denver team and subscribers. Go Broncos!!!

Case Keenum is EXACTLY the QB we thought he would be when we signed him for $18 mil/yr this offseason. If his last 7 games were the first seven games of the season, he would be on pace for 23 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, a 63% completion percentage and 4,146 total yards. He’s a game manager. And as he gets more time with this offense and with Musgrave, he’s getting better every week right in front of our eyes.

Here’s my Hot Pocket Hot Take of the Day: Case Keenum is the QB of the foreseeable future in Denver and Elway needs to extend his contract this offseason before he balls out in year 2 with this offense and this coaching staff (that’s right, VJ stays in Denver). He’s not a franchise QB, but he’s a good enough bridge QB that we can legitimately compete at a high level with Keenum at the helm.

That said, we need to keep an eye on the QBs in the 2020 and 2021 drafts (especially Tua and Trevor Lawrence). The 2019 QB class stinks? No problem, Keenum can start another year. If no QBs fall to us in 2020, no problem. 2021 is coming, and we can still make the playoffs with Case.

Honestly, Keenum needs to be extended through at least the 2021 season, but ideally 2022. He’s the perfect bridge guy to hold us over until we can find the franchise QB we really want, not just the band aid guy that’s available. AND he can be a great mentor to that rookie QB once they get here.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy or does this make sense? Should Elway consider extending Keenum this offseason if he finishes the year on the pace he is on?
