Zac, to follow up with you on my most recent comment regarding a potential Emmanuel Sanders to SF trade, the writer mentioned the following:

Denver gets: SF’s 2nd overall pick
SF gets: Sanders, Denver’s 10th overall, two 2nds, and a 3rd

Also, I was reading a mock draft by Maurice Jones Drew today and he had Daniel Jones to the Broncos at 10 and Lock to Miami at 13. WHAT BLASPHEMY!!!! Lol

Hey guys and the BSN family,

DT is going to be released by Texans, is there bad blood between him and Broncos or do you guys think we’ll see him in Orange & Blue again?

I personally want to see Sanders, Sutton, Patrick and Hamilton lightning it up next season.

Also I got a suggestion, I love these 1 year subscription promos you do for new subscribers but as a monthly subscriber who will be that for life. I know I can get those shirts by subscribe on that promo instead but I want you to get that passive income (cause you deserve it)? Maybe have some kind of promo or gift to us long time subscribers of some sort ?

Thanks as always for a great pod,
Timmy

Hi guys, a few thoughts from recent conversations had on the pod:
1. I went to Five Guys today after yesterday’s discussion on it, and it was a damn good burger. But there’s nothing distinct about it that would make you remember it and maybe that’s what needs to be discussed – the differentiating factors. In N Out may have an easy to copy sauce, but that In N Out flavor and burger is somehow unique, not sure why (btw, Ryan, get it with fresh onions and hot peppers, you’ll be set). Anyway, Shake Shack should be up there in the discussion and it certainly has a unique and memorable experience.
2. I’m bracing myself for the Drew Lock pick, and yes, I said “bracing”. I’ll be okay with it if that’s all that remains after exhausting all trade opportunities for Kyler Murray. But after watching him, I have to say, the other comparison to consider is Matthew Stafford rather than Jay Cutler. He has that long arm release, similar height, and deep ball missile versus the shorter arm bullet that Cutler had. To me it looks like more Stafford but with Jay Cutler’s lazy footwork which is going to get him nailed in the NFL. I’m not sure he can fix that footwork as I presume that is years of habit. He better start getting in on those Peyton Manning pocket footwork drills asap!
3. Please tell John Elway every time you see him in the building to trade 3 number 1’s for the 2nd pick (and throw in Emmanuel if you want) and get Kyler Murray. Do your duty!

(Mai-ka Pek-sa) To answer a couple of your questions on some recent pods, the Patriots points discrepancy in overall Superbowls is because of Super Bowl XX when they got blown out by the Bears 46-10. Also, a great QB who wore #1 is Warren Moon. As you might guess, I’m not a millennial.

Here’s my question: If we do draft Kyler Murray or another QB, do you think the Broncos play him year 1 or sit him behind Case for a year to learn? I feel like I’ve seen so many promising QBs over the past 20 years get thrown into the fire too early and get their confidence crushed and never recover (Rosen last year perhaps?). Then you have the Patrick Mahomes example where they sit and absorb for at least 1 year, and are only put on the field when they are truly ready. IMHO, it’s better to err on the side of caution with a player so vital to your long term success as a franchise. Your thoughts?

As an Illinois native you guys are killing me with this 5 guys vs In & Out debate as I have neither anywhere close to me. However, you can never go wrong with Taco Bell. They even have bomb breakfast so whether you’re waking up early or getting tore up late at night they always have an option for you.
Back to football, everyone wants to trade up and just assumes everyone at the top of the draft wants to trade back. Trades are a lot harder than people make them out to be and when has Elway ever given up the farm to move up? Don’t get your hopes up.

Hey guys,

Want to listen to your thoughts on this. The Texans just cutoff DT, I know that he has a devastating injury and that having 2 veteran wide receivers with the same injuries might not be a good idea, but how about resigning him for a much lower contract than what we expected at this time last year it would take? Was this a bright intelligent move by John Elway (getting DT and Emanuel for half the price and get a pick for that)? I understand the concern on the injury but I would try to make this move and have DT retired as a Bronco
PS. Nooooooooo not Taco Bell!!! I know I am biased as a mexican, but honestly I have gotten sick 2 of the three times I´ve eaten there, I was expecting you would go with Chipotle (which has my approval as a native mexican food eater), but maybe you don´t think of it as common fast food just as Five Guys.
Mucho amor!

Hey guys, I went on a BSN binge this weekend to catch up on the all pods from the BSN Blackout. Ryan, at one point you mentioned the effectiveness of a roster with a QB on a rookie contract, citing Russ Wilson in SB XLVIII, Jared Goff this year, and Carson Wentz last year. I also would like to add both Kaep and Joe Flacco in SB XLVII to that list. My question is, will we ever see a shift in beliefs around QBs to view them similar to how the league views RBs?

With this in mind, I’d love to see the Broncos get Vic’s first choice for his field general, even if they have to trade up for Devin White. Give Mike Munchak whatever he needs in resources to patch the o-line up, and let Rich have his pick of the lot from the 2nd or 3rd round on. If it doesn’t work, nothing lost. There’s a monster class of QBs coming next year, and you’ve built a better environment for the next rookie QB to succeed in.

Heyo!

I’ve got to say I completely agree with you guys saying we have to do whatever it takes to get our QB in the draft. However I hate the idea of moving up to 1 to do it, it just seems way to costly to me…I know these are conflicting ideas that I’m having so I’ve got a potential solution. I think that pick 5 where the Tampa Bay Bucs currently sit is our ideal landing spot. It wouldn’t take the entire farm to get there, maybe just like 3/5 of the farm. I think at 5 we will most likely still have our pick of the litter in the QB conversation. Maybe Murray goes 1 or 4 but I don’t think that’s likely, and I also think that Elway might not take him anyway if he is there. This way we would have our choice of Lock or Haskins, whoever is Skangey’s/Elways guy. (PS, I nicknamed him Skangy because his name is super difficult to spell and I don’t want to look it up everytime)

Thoughts???

Also, If I already have an annual subscription and buy another one for this contest, will they stack so I get 1 year after my first annual is up??? I could really use a new shirt when we win.

I hope Flacco makes me “eat crow” but I’m worried about him coming in, actually. Do you think he, instead of Case, is the bridge QB for our potential 1st round QB?

Lots of feelings that make me want to type in all caps but don’t know whether to be excited or terrified…

NOOOOOO!!! Why would we trade for Joe Flacco!?! Please tell me this isn’t as bad of a sign as it looks, but to me I take this as John Elway not learning his lesson and I’m now not sure the Broncos take a QB… Let alone trade up for Kyler or Lock. Unless I’m missing something, I’m now convinced John Elway is a bad GM, hope you guys have some insight but this is BAD. I’m sure you guys will talk about Flacco, but I do have another question, do you think we’ll see Chad Kelly in the AAF? With how good he looked in the preseason I feel like he could light that league up, thoughts? May as well start talking about the AAF since I am beyond disappointed in the Broncos right now. Thanks Ryan and Zac.

I find it very comical and ironic that yesterday’s podcast was “Evaluating Fangios outlook on fixing things” and he had mentioned there will be no “band-aids”. What a joke.
The Broncos really now how to piss me off. Nothing but bad news the past 3 years, not surprised at all to be honest. This is becoming the norm in Denver. I still love my team and will never switch. But Jesus Christ. I am so disappointed in my team.
In the next few years fans will start wearing brown bags over their heads during the games.

This is the biggest Damn band-aid ever. So much for all that good speech Fangio gave out.
We have just died by multiple inches before the season even started ??
We have no option but to trade Keemun now. We just screwed ourselves on cap space for FA signings. ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

Hey RK and Z,

Just got the news about the Flacco trade. I have to say this move makes me a little sick to think about. How is this going to affect the draft? Are we just seeing a repeat of the last draft or is this a backup plan to going and getting a first round QB?

I can’t help but see a throwback to Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, and Paxton Lynch duking it out for the top spot. Maybe the talent pool will be different but I’m not seeing it other than instead of getting Lynch in the draft we get a better talent like Drew Lock.

Is this the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, then expecting different results), or is this part of a plan to evolve?

Thanks for the coverage guys and go get that three-peat!

Cheers!

Whoa Dudes,

Joe Flacco? I’m still reeling and need to see the details. Early reports are a 4th rounder. If that is the case I’m OK with the move but also disheartened by the probability that we wont be trading up. This move says a couple things:

1. The Broncos realize the possibility that all QBs we may or may not be interested in will be gone by 10.
2. The Broncos are Dissatisfied with going into 2019 with Keenum as a starter.
3. The Quarterback room had to get better regardless and we weren’t willing to mortgage the farm for Foles when we could get Flacco for a 4th.

Orange colored glasses outlook:

We let Keenum and Flacco battle it out with both of them showing out in the preseason and Flacco likely winning the job. We trade Keenum (or Flacco) in a sellers market pending the inevitable early season QB injury. Meanwhile, we let the draft play out if the QB is there at 10 take them with the intent to slow roll them, if necessary, otherwise grab a Rypien day 3. Flacco’s contract is larger than Keenum but not by much and we retain the player through 2021 with the flexibility to cut him with minimal impact. Its feasible we could flip Flacco as well in the next offseason or two provided young QB opportunities present themselves. Thoughts?

This is standard Elway, we are in a precarious position going into this draft. This was a shrewd, albeit unpopular, move to get ever-so-slightly better at the most important position in professional sports.

Hang in there Fam.

Hey guys! I’ve been listening to your podcast since the preseason and finally decided to subscribe to help you guys continue your reign as champions. Anyways with the soul chrushing news that we’re going to be trading for flacco i was wondering what do you think the chances are that we still draft a QB? Also do you think the broncos will move on from keenum? I can’t see them wanting to keep close to 30 million in cap space on two average nfl quarterbacks. Thanks for all the great work you guys do, keep it up.

First, I wanted to tell you that BSN Broncos has become my #1 podcast. When one drops, it automatically becomes my priority pod. Great work!

With that said, I also have to stay loyal to my #1 fandom, the Avalanche. The BSN Avalanche guys are ALSO the best coverage in town. The whole BSN crew is awesome!

With the news today, does this mean Case AND Flacco are here for 2019? Will we still draft a qb? I was really hoping for Drew Lock. Now the future feels rotten again, is there any hope!?

I’m glad BSN is so great. If only the teams they covered were great now, too.

So with the trade for joe Flacco I think this guarantees us to trade up and get Drew Locke. Locke’s big arm resembles Flacco. Also with ravens covering $16m of dead money And no guaranteed money. It allows Locke to learn from a strong arm qb willing to take shots down field . They don’t want him to take it easy they want him to be a baller. Also Scangerello said his offense wants the ability to go for deep shot on every play if open. I was mad at first but love it now. Also with fast food debate I live in San Diego now and In-and-Out is really good fast for fast food standards but five guys burgers can compete with restaurant burgers. But I’m originally from Virginia and by far the best fast food ( besides chick fila) is cook out. They have trays where you pick 1 entree. Burger , chicken sandwich , nuggets, corndogs , or bbq sandwich , and can customize burger no upcharge so add bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, mushrooms, etc. then pick two sides between fries, onion rings, tater tots , nuggets, corndogs, or coleslaw and a drink. All for about $6 and if you want one of their 30 shakes it’s only a $1.50 up charge! Look up the menu and your jaw will drop. It’s only in the south so next time you are in Virginia or Carolinas look up cook out

Hey guys quick thought: do you think this is a viable formula to win:
Draft Murray
Essentially be a better version of the Ravens this past year (with Murrays higher upside as a passer/playmaker and a few investments in Defense via free agency and the draft). I think this train of thought coincides well with Fangios philosophy on how to fix the team (Woody Paige interview).

Sidenote: with news breaking of Flacco being traded for I think all signs are now pointing to Drew Lock, which frustrates me because if this is the plan (i actually like the kid) i don’t think it should be apparent to the rest of the league, Johns usually been good about putting his poker face on so I don’t know what his end game is here.

OMG! Joe Flacco?! Isn’t that just a horizontal move from Case Keenum? Well, while I was very unhappy about that decision at first, as long as we still draft a young stud QB, I think I’m ok with it. Fangio knows Flacco and Kubiak was high on him as well. Maybe he somehow does play better that Case. Piggybacking on what I said in my previous comment, I’m a fan of sitting young guys for a year or two. But please tell me that we are still going to draft a young stud in round 1 to develop! Even if Flacco plays well, he’s old. We still need that guy who is going to be a starter for the next 10-15 years.

I don’t even know what to think…I’m not sure Elway shook the tree hard enough…or maybe shook the wrong tree?

With the contract the Broncos are about to take on, plus whatever they are going to do with Keenum we are loosing cap space which might hurt picking up more free agents for areas of need. What are your thoughts going into the draft? With a move like this I feel like the Broncos won’t trade up from 10 and will just see what’s available. If it’s a Quarterback do you think they will still l take him? If not what are you’re thoughts on other picks.

I can see the the Kyler Murray or lock dreams going up in flames! I get it he’s a backup but we already have one in Keenum., can you guys make sense of this? Do you guys think this is going to be a quarter back battle between these 2 and still draft one? I’m so cold and lost right now I was hoping this was fake. Broncos were killing the off season in my eyes with the new mile high mafia staff and then this. SMDH maybe Vic wants to have a safe QB this year and stack the defense, take a quarterback in next years draft. PLEASE TALK ALL OF US ALL THE CLIFF! , btw been a subscriber for a little bit just hiding in the shadows, love what you guys do and I’ll be hitting the broncos promo to help you crush the competition. I don’t like Flacco much, but we traded DT for a 4th rounder. If reports are true that we are only giving up a 4th, then we essentially traded DT for Flacco straight up. Of course, we’re paying more to do that, but that’s not a bad deal. This whole thing is much better than Keenum at 2 yrs, $36 million. The problem is, we’re still stuck paying Keenum a bunch of money. I really still hope we draft a QB..
